I stayed at the Adelphi for three days on a coach trip to Liverpool the worst thing about the stay was the food, the first night I went into the restaurant greeted by nice staff working tirelessly clearing tables, once I got to the self service there was tongs in the food that must have fallen in, the roast potatoes were baked so hard you could not eat them, the chicken Kiev was like mush I saw the chef bring out more roast potatoes on a tray then he was wiping his nose with his fingers, in the morning the breakfast seemed fine I got some fried mushrooms and sausages they tasted fine but later that day I felt not great, so I avoided dinner on the second night but I took 2 bananas and a tea on the last day, the young girl took away my plate with the banana peels on it she gave me as smile as to know I wasn't keen on the food there which is obvious.

Entered the restaurant where we passed a sign stating 3 course Sunday carvery £7.50. Asked the waitress for the price for 1 adult 1 child and a baby to which she replied sit and eat and pay later. Again I asked for the price which she told me only the manager knows. As we where very hungry we found a table and went to the carvery for food. Credit to the chef the food was really good. We had a roast and a desert with out seeing a member of staff so still no price and no drinks. With organisation and some knowledge the place could be great

We had breakfast here after staying overnight. The food was diabolical. The only fruit available was tinned oranges and prunes. The fried eggs were 'plastic'. The bacon was 'leather' and the rest of the breakfast items we tried were inedible. The toast machine was one of those where on a single pass it comes out raw, on the second pass it comes out burnt. There was no butter, only sunflower spread. As for the coffee, it was indescribably awful.

We experienced Jenny's Carvery Restaurant (this isn't the name given once inside the hotel, The Adelphi, it's simply known as Jenny's!) Didn't see a carvery during our stay it was 'eat all you can' offer however the disgusting smell that emanated from the dining room made sure we found somewhere better to eat (this was over the road at Shiraz Palace, beautiful food!). We did have the misfortune of having breakfast there, an experience that will take a while to forget!

Definitely expect what you pay, to be fair, rooms are average with a lot of space BUT do not dine here as food is very poor quality, vegetables are either rock hard or soggy, no in between. Most awkward meal of my life due to no backing music, no drinks offered anywhere, only a choice of 3 meals on a 'buffet', lined my stomach with bread and butter which I got from the bottom of the bread basket due to flies. We were not overwhelmed by the quality but we enjoyed our meals and thought they were good value for money. The staff were very helpful and good fun.A few concerns over food hygiene e.g how long some food is left out, helping yourself with your hands to bread and the cheese biscuits. The best eating out experience I have had is Jenny's Restaurant in the Adelphi Hotel, as it is out of this world. The food is always cooked excellently well, excellent carvery meals that are excellent value for money at £12.50 for three courses or £8.50 just for one course especially when you can help yourself to as much as you can eat. Because I don't like the pathetic tiny portions you get in other restaurants, that's why I like the help yourself idea so much so that I can really pile it onto my plate. Above all I like a meal that really feels me up and that's just what this restaurant does. Furthermore when staying overnight in the Adelphi the Breakfast is also excellent for which you can also help yourself. The staff are always friendly, just as you would expect from the kindness and friendliness of Liverpool.

Main course was carved Turkey with a selection of vegetables (best part of the meal), some breaded fish, sausage casserole (not great quality). Plenty of water to wash it all down. The staff were efficient friendly and helpful, replenishing dishes frequently, and clearing away ones plates quickly and unobtrusively. We took our time over the meal, there was no pressure to eat and move out.!!After dining in the carvery we went upstairs and had coffee in the lounge. The service was prompt; the excellent coffee (served to our individual tastes ) with a plate of biscuits was presented by a smiling friendly waitress. It was a pleasure to relax in the lounge enjoying our coffee after having a most satisfactory very reasonably priced lunch. I shall be dining there again next time I'm in Liverpool

This is our third time staying at the adelphi and we usually eat at least one meal in Jenny after enjoying it very much on previous ocassions. However this time i wasn't as impressed as before food was very sameish each night (we had a package so ate 4 breakfast and evening meals here) roast potatoes every night of the week no mash or baked or boiled etc. Scampi but no chips, or peas (dont like peas but you expect to find peas with scampi in Britain its the norm) very little choice of starters or desserts. 8pm seatings for dinner totally unacceptable to our parties needs although we did speak to reception about this and where able to change the time. however this was not passed on to the restaurant and so every time we went in to the restaurant we once again had to explain ourseleves and why we where here before our allocated dining time. I mean how dare we want to eat our meals at a time that suits us we have after all only paid for it. Waited over 20 minutes one day just to get into the restaurant for breakfast as there was a huge queue and the buffet resembled a rugby scrum with people trying to push into get food as if they had never been fed i found this highly amusing but I felt like we where back in primary school lining up for the school canteen. However that said the food that was avaialbe was mostly nice I really enjoyed the aspargus soup I had one evening and the chicken kievs where beautiful. Staff are friendly although a bit difficult to get hold of when you want something due to them being so busy. Breakfast the food on offer was plentiful and we enjoyed it but they only put coffee on the table if you want tea you have to ask for it which is easier said than done. One morning it took me 25 minutes to get a cup of tea and had to ask three times and kept getting told he was away getting it well he did go and get some three times before I got a cup of tea despite him going to two tables next to me twice and completely ignoring us. This would be sorted by asking guests as they where being seated if they required tea and if so having a fresh pot brought to the table.

As well as the usual cereals, hot porridge was available and grapefruit, prunes and tinned oranges for those who wanted fruit for a starter. There were cold meat and cheese options as well as the usual hot buffet.

I ate all my meals here as part of the holiday with Shearings staying in the. Adelphi hotel. organised chaos. The worst thing was getting a cup of tea. food was served buffet style.I found it very tasty and had loads.

Pub and bar hopping around this part of the city on a rather cold November night my twin brother and I decided to drop by The Fall Well Pub,been here before on many occasions, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. A big Wetherspoon pub, interior is superb, a long serving bar dominates the main room, typical Wetherspoon decor and furnishings, photo's of old Liverpool adorning the walls and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling shopping streets around this pub, its just a really good Wetherspoon pub to chill out in. We had a study of their real ale's, in the end we both opted to have Coach House Brewery " tnt cracker barrel " this dark real ale was served in pristine condition, we luckily managed to get a table were we chilled out and warmed up while we sipped our ale's. My ale was really good, dark, malty, full of flavours, a proper winter ale indeed, its hardly surprising to me why this Wetherspoon pub is so popular with real ale's of this quality. We really enjoyed our ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Fall Well Pub we had a great pub experience. The Fall Well Pub is easy to locate along St John's Way. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 8am till 11.30pm. Friday & Saturday, 8am till midnight. Sunday, 8am till 11.30pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Reminiscent of Littlewoods caf circa 1973. Enough said. Bagel inedible. Tea not made with boiling water. Dreary staff and surroundings. Come on John Lewis. You are taking the mick.

Claims to be 24 hours, went to go do my quiet weekly shop at 4am and it's closed, (second time in 3 months) listed as open on google and ASDAs website.... I know its for a stock count, but nothing was posted on the shop front.. even a week before I wasn't warned by the staff member who knows I come in that time every week, who i have other complaints about (not giving me bags till after I pay i say how many bags i've used, A. slowing my shopping down, B. making me have to guess how many bags I'm going to use {most of which end up splitting because of the weight}) not to mention how lazy the security can be at times, as I've been threatened to be stabbed by 'the down and outs' when i refuse to give em a quid , reported it and security has said 'not our problem'
