Great choice of food (very tasty) and lovely location looking over the sea. Good place just to sit and have a coffee and a slice of cake and enjoy the view. Good to see the Friday fish and chip meal deal is back on....amazing size piece of fish, good price and even a cup of tea included

The girl at the cafe was so rude. Looking at the reviews from others looks like it is a normal occurrence. If she is not member of family of owner they need to get rid as this will lose them business in future. I just happened to walk straight out. Body language and tone of voice just is unacceptable specially in this nature of business.

Fantastic food, great service, extremely friendly staff: my 6 year old son needed the toilet badly, and one of the staff saw us waiting in the queue and let us use the staff toilet! Thank you!

Nipped in for some drinks and cakes while on holiday after a beautiful walk along the beach. A disappointing visit. Brown haired girl serving was very rude and spoke so cheeky. I asked what was vegan as some cakes weren’t labelled or labelled VE and V. She replied that some were labelled in error but with a “don't care” attitude! No hurry to change errors either. Gave my order with no words like “there you go or thank you” etc, she just had a lengthy conversation with a male worker. Prices were ridiculous. The only nice thing about the place is outside looking on to the beach! Won’t be recommending here!

Stopped here for a nibble, ended up with a massive baguette. Really tasty, good service, great view. Really pleased we stumbled on this place 😀

Cool beachside cafe. Kids loved the slushies. Food looked really nice but wasn't that hungry so didn't try. Reasonable prices. WC available for customers.

Came here after parkrun for coffee and cake and there was a large amount of us, and the girl serving us was so rude to us and the children. We normally come here often but this experience has put us off. She seemed young and it was a massive shame.

My frangipane was delicious, but my partner's flapjack was wet on top for some reason. My frappacino tasted terrible and burned somehow. I asked to change it to a cup of tea and was rudely refused on the grounds that I'd taken it outside, and it would have to be 'chucked' 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♂️ Great place. Bad service. Lost my repeat custom, anyway.

All I know is that my friend offered to buy me a fab and got charged £6 for 2. That's too much. That's a 10x markup. Can't get behind that at all. Became our meme of the day!

Fabulous food in a wonderful location

4 bits of cake and 4 drinks I did think it was a little expensive but the cake was top notch so cannot complain staff were friendly. Did have to ask staff to unlock the customer toilets though which was annoying

The food was good but the fish was quit fishy but the chips were fabulous and the cake was extremely good and I recommend the peanut butter milkshake because it’s so peanut buttery and so thick

Lovely location. Good generous food menu. Seats could be better outside along with table cleaning. This is a good choice for lunch if you are on Gorleston Seafront.

Great location and a varied menu. Lovely to be able to sit outside and look across our lovely beach while having lunch. Food - bit difficult to judge this as this is the first time we have eaten here. On reflection, I wish I had ordered the bacon or sausage bap as these looked awesome. Instead I went for a prawn and crayfish baguette with salad and fries and ended up disappointed. There was far too much food on the plate and the prawn/crayfish element was not particularly tasty or easy to eat. I would return but would order something different...

Stumbled across this place whilst going for a walk up the beach. As a vegan and with someone who is gluten free I didn’t think we would be able to get anything substantial but was very impressed with the options available. Really lovely to sit out in the sun but also had a great interior if it got chilly. Thank you!

I've knocked a star off because of the silly prices. For holidaymakers who have probably saved up all year as a treat to eat out ok! But silly prices for the rest of us living on pensions who would occasionally like to have lunch on the sea front but who have to stick with just a coffee which in itself isn't the cheapest in Gorleston! The food always looks really good. It would be nice to try it occasionally 🤣

Carrot cake is heavenly! But coffee is disgusting, never buy it there 😕 charge £3.30 for water with no aroma no taste

We always come here as we are local. Will definitely not come here for food again. I ordered a philly steak sandwich. I think the cook needs to google a philly steak sandwich. It was a sandwich filled with salad and lettuce and maybe 1 oz of shredded roast beef. The clue is in the name it should be steak not shredded roast beef. I've been a chef for over 30 years and shame on you for serving this at £14.95 for a salad sandwich. Disappointed

Perfect lunch on the prom, overlooking the seafront. The service was very good and the food was excellent.

Nice spot right o beach. Very busy but served quickly from placing order to getting lunch. Ordered sesfood platter. Prawns, Hot Smoked Salmon, Deep fried Calamari. Very generous salad with coleslaw. Huge plate of food. My side of chips was not required (I still ate some). Freindly service despite some confusion over my drink which was resolved immediatley with aplogies. Great cafe

Overlooking the beach. Friendly service. Dogs are only allowed at the till but not allowed in with you to eat which was a minus point for us. It was raining but one row of seating outside is under the roof's overhang/soffit so we could keep dry. Parking on main road about 100m away. There is a ramp to avoid the steps to get down to the cafe. Didn't see an accessible toilet. Toilet inside was very low down.

Rude and disinterested staff. Food that shouldn’t have been served. I should have put more detail the first time, sorry. The person who served me initially was unhelpful, with one word answers that appeared rude to me. I asked for two iced coffees and was told they did not do them. My Wife had avocado on toast with garlic prawns and salad garnish. The salad leaves were going brown, they should not have been sent out. The prawns were tasteless and the avocado had been smashed and mixed with a lot of raw onion, which my Wife could not eat. She complained, taking the food in, the chef said the salad was fresh that morning, and he couldn’t put all the ingredients on the menu. No apology for the lettuce that obviously was not fresh. No apology for the food being returned largely uneaten. As we left, I noticed a large sign saying “iced coffees”, maybe it should be removed?

Heard great things about this place, however, a complete let down. Staff looked miserable, bar one serving. The cheese scone was alright but was given hard butter which would not spread. Gluten free carrot cake was dry and hard, in fact it tasted stale. The hot chocolates were lovely. I would not go back here again, the food we had was a let down and was quite expensive, and the staff didn't make us feel welcome nor comfortable.

Stopped for a hot drink whilst walking in horizontal weather. Lovely cappuccino, food and snacks looked delicious although didn't partake. Will come back to try another time. All staff very pleasant on a miserable day!

Place was tidy and busy. I just wanted a drink and to use the loo. Staff looked very miserable, several of them giving nasty looks as clearly the loo is used by non patrons. Personally, not a great experience

Lovely weather today so took a stroll along the Marine Parade at Gorleston. A short stroll along the promenade and you will find Jay Jays where you can enjoy a good range of cooked food and cakes. Worth a visit 😎

Found this place after walking along the front. Upon arrival we sat at a table but found no menus (these were all at the counter) and had no service (again we had to go to the counter and staff saw us sitting and said nothing). When we did order and get our food it was nice although expensive but had to again go back to the counter to ask for salt/pepper/sauce etc none of which was on the tables or offered to us. This place could be improved with a bit more service to customers and even just having a bit of salt and pepper on the table.

Superb beach side cafe. We shared a veggie breakfast and it was plenty for the 2 of us. Delicious!

Coffee was poor and the cakes was poor. Young lad about 20 was very helpful. I will try them again to see if it was a 1 off.

Was there on bank holiday Sunday the Young girl servicing us was very rude. Had three teas a coffee 3 scones and a cake each was stuffed in a paper bag. When I said we were eating in and could we have them on a plate . Her reply was where are you sitting, I replied outside and she rudely replied well you do t get a plate . I then asked for some jam and butter and she rudely replied what else do you want? Scone was dry and manners are free will not return

Very over priced for what it is you get. Nothing special except for the price. Over £6 for a over cooked egg and bacon roll come on not exactly luxury item is it? And yes there are other places to eat in Gorleston. If you don't want want feed back don't ask for it!!

Came here last Friday on the recommendation of a friend along with our younger daughter and her partner (both of whom are vegan). Very busy, perhaps because it is their 'Fish Friday' whereby they offer fish and chips and a pot of tea for 2 for £20. It being a beautifully warm spring day we sat at one of the tables outside overlooking the beach. They have an extensive specials board but my husband and I opted for the chilli and cheese on jacket. Portions were very generous, chilli very tasty and it came with a very large side salad. Vegan options were limited however staff were very accommodating and did a large 'breakfast' panini for our sin-in-law accompanied by a portion of hash browns whilst my daughter opted for a toasted vegan sausage sandwich. There was also an amazing selection of cakes (which did include plenty of vegan options) for those just wishing to have coffee and a cake, unfortunately we did not have the room to sample. Staff were very friendly. We will certainly visit again and would not hesitate to recommend.

rubbish- all toilets were “out of order” every single one. coffee machine was off. it was before they had shut so i dont understand why a coffee machine would be turned off in a coffee shop? didnt get anything due to the annoyance.

Very disappointed, £24 for a regular breakfast (very average) cake and 2 drinks. Not a nice atmosphere. Will be sticking to the other cafes near sea front.

Small beach hut but wow do they do food, I'm always amazed at the cake counter, everything from scones to gateauxs, sausage rolls to fish and chips

Fair enough prices until you see how much you get. The portions were much bigger than expected and very good quality too. I literally couldn’t eat everything but they brought me a takeaway box for the rest of my club sandwich. The coleslaw is really good, like homemade. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Went for a snack and coffee I brought 2 sausage rolls and coffee and hot chocolate £12.50 I nearly fell through the floor Very expensive. The sausage rolls were dry (Not a patch on Gregg's) and the coffee was watery like a cup of instant even though they have the machine there

This place stated it is dog friendly, yet told us we couldn’t have dogs inside. They said it is dog friendly outside which is the biggest joke I have heard considering everywhere outside is dog friendly. They also didn’t tell us UNTIL we ordered our drinks that we would have to sit outside - in the pouring rain and windiest day of the year. Absolute joke. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to go with the dogs - as we specifically did. Plus, the cinnamon swirl was as dry as the sand on the beach.

Very friendly and dog friendly outside, although you can take your dog in to order if by yourself. Lovely view of beach and sea. Large and very tasty food selection, delicious coffee. Not the cheapest, but quality products.

Friendly staff, great choice of cake and service was quick. Only criticism was, for me, music was too loud and invasive, I just wanted to hear the sea.

Had iced coffees on a warm day so highly recommended. Seating on the promenade was fine so could people watch and look out to sea , dog freindly and service was quick , would reccommend.

Such a shame as I have heard so many good things about JayJays, but last week I visited alongside my mum and 2 toddlers. We had promised them an ice cream. It was quite busy, therefore a long wait to get to the till, but appreciate this can't be helped. However, once it was my turn, the cashier was rude, unhelpful, and quite clearly not interested in being there in the slightest. I asked for 2 iced coffees and 2 ice creams, no acknowledgement from her, but she walked off. Came back with the coffees. I then asked if the ice-creams could be made really small. Honestly, she reacted like I'd just hurled abuse at her and was very rude with the way she responded, saying they are all £3.50 and one size. I said that I understood they were £3.50 I just wanted them to be made very small, so we didn't have to spend the next 10minutes trying to stop the children getting covered in dripping ice-cream. It's not really a lot to ask for a smaller ice-cream and I was willing to pay full price, I just had not come prepared with wipes and wanted to enjoy my coffee instead of what ended up happening, 2 frustrated children because they could not eat their ice-creams quick enough to prevent the enevitable dripping all over the place, yes I did the usual of having some to help but it just created an unnecessary stressful situation. Once we had been given our ice-creams I dared ask for a couple of napkins, she actually sighed before getting some from beside her (I couldn't get them from where I was), she gave me 2 small napkins so was basically pointless in this situation. Once all ice-creams had finished, we were nearly finished with our coffees and another lady came and cleaned our table before we had even finished so felt very unwelcome. I doubt we'll be using this place again, and we go to Gorleston regularly.

Food was good . A little over priced

So basically there is overpowering music that means that you can't have a chat with whoever you are with. Food is nice though.

Sadly the ice cream was so watered down it literally melted in seconds after purchase, after walking away I discovered many puddles of melted ice cream from others that had bought it, I get it maximise profit but don’t do it to an extent that it’s literally inedible.

Loved this place. It's the perfect beach cafe - a real gem. Coffee is top notch. The fresh cake and cookie selection is nothing short of spectacular. The staff are so attentive - one saw my mum queuing for the toilet and said she could use the staff one instead (wow!). All this on their busy fete day too. Amazing.

Great place to stop for an ice cream and coffee

Popped into here just after 12 yesterday to grab a coffee and what a delight that was. It looked like the team had been asked to work a 17 hour shift on a bank holiday weekend, the atmosphere was awful! No smiles, no friendliness, just a sea of miserable faces. As we were packing up to go the chef then decided to parade around the cafe floor before resting his elbows on the counter- along with the other girls working and just stare at everyone walking in & out. It was a joke in all honesty but then so was the coffee!!
