Jashn Restaurant in Gateshead

This is one of the best India restaurants I have ever tried. The menus diverse but not to large so they can concentrate on individual meals. The staff are very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The restaurant is traditional Indian. I would definitely recommend and will return soon I hope

Lovely food, same as in Monkseaton, but closer so we can get more regularly. Nice to find a different slant on Indian food. Asked for a Prawn Pathia, not on the menu,, and it was delicious with lots of big prawns. Everything was very tasty and multilayered.

The service was amazing - we really enjoyed the complimentary mango lassi shots and a delicious chickpea ball. The waiting staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Only 1 star less for food as taste-wise there was something missing but couldn't put finger on what it was. We are fussy buggers though! Other than that, spot on and will be back. Thanks!

The drink was awful and portions have been cut back quite a bit. The starter was more artsy than filling bhuna prawn. Gone back a lot since last time and felt hungry still on leaving.

Ive been here many times before, and each time I feel like its a new experience. From the service to the decor in the restaurant and then the food! Just wow! I have taken a few friends who haven't visited before and they have been amazed by the food and service. I will continue to recommend and visit, if you haven't been why not? Get along!

Just had a takeaway. Had the special banquet x2. The lad on the phone was really helpful. I asked for a butter chicken as it wasn't on the menu. He asked if I'd had it from there before and then went on to explain that they make it a little bit spicey. Best butter chicken I've had! All the food was great! Will definitely be back, soon!

We, once again had a wonderful meal and a very warm welcome at the Jashn. Food, staff, service, attentiveness and atmosphere are the best. We don't live locally. We live in Scotland and whenever we are in the area, approximately every 4 weeks, we visit this wonderful restaurant. They have won many accolades, and all very much deserved. Our only issue is that we don't live closer, otherwise we would be there at least weekly! Thank you everyone at Jashn Restaurant ❤️

I've got to say I've just had 1 of the best meals, service was spot on, a slight wait for my food but it was worth it. Not the best picture, this was the Chilli Paneer starter, perfect!! Main course was Tikka chicken shaslick, the chicken was super tender. Naan bread, was excellent.

Got a delivery from here tonight for tea, food was absolutely delicious and nice portion sizes, still piping hot on arrival and the delivery driver was very friendly. Ordered on Uber eats!!!

The best Indian restaurant / takeaway I've been to in many years.

Haven't been for a while, still amazing service, still amazing food. We had a lovely meal, if you only have one meal out this year this is the one to choose!

Jashn do a lot of dishes very well and they are definitely one of the more upmarket and authentic curry restaurants in the area. I found my fish makhani to be disappointing - the fish was okay but the sauce was just too sweet and not particularly memorable - but I wouldn't want to take off a star for one dish when the rest was generally very good and the rest of our party were all very happy with their food. We were a party of 6 on a busy Friday night and everything took a bit longer to arrive, but that was fine as we weren't in a hurry.

Really nice food and great accommodating waiters, only problem is that we waited nearly an hour for our main courses. Definitely will be returning though!

Lovely authentic indian, food is absolutely outstanding

This was by far the best experience of my dining out for Indian cuisine that I have ever had. 59th birthday and live in Leeds but this was worth travelling for. Music not so loud ( you can talk with without having to raise your voice. Service was impeccable and enjoyable and engaging and the food and portions were fantastic with offering to take excess home without hassle. Will definitely be back and thanks guys and gals for an amazing none rushed meal. 5 stars 🌟

Fantastic restaurant. Normally get a takeaway but took advantage of a kidfree night. Atmosphere was great, staff were so lovely and the food was to die for! Always love getting our food from here!

Ordered a curry, veggie side and naan for delivery, the naan wasn't delivered. Fair enough I got a refund for the value of the naan but the whole meal is basically pointless and the whole idea of getting a takeaway as I now have to cook something up anyway to go along with it. I can cook a curry myself pretty well but I don't have a tandoori at home so my sole reason for ordering was the naan really.

Just had a meal here with a colleague as we were in the area. Lovely friendly greeting as we arrived, shown to our table and napkins unwrapped to be placed on our lap We had mixed pickle tray, poppadoms, followed by 2 chicken korma, and 2 desserts and coffee. Each course was beautifully presented, with true genuine care for the customer Nice flavours and lovely tender chicken. Was checked on regular ( not to much ) to make sure we were OK and if we required anything else Even after paying the bill, no hurry to leave Nice service and compassionate staff

I was surprised to see how busy the restaurant was on a Monday night but as I had read good reviews about it, I shouldn't have been. We had a special menu which was good value and each course delicious. I'll try something from the main menu next time as the choice was huge.

Our party of four had a wide variety of dishes from the Prix Fixe menu. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The service was helpful and attentive, prompt and courteous. No request was too much trouble. If we lived in Newcastle, this would be a regular destination.

We went for a meal meal was ok but service very slow waited ages for starter then even longer for main course so won’t be returning asked for the bill waited ages again so went to bar to pay

02/03/2024 Just to say the friendly and courteous service from all of the Jashn staff was first class. They helped my 87 year old partially sighted mother to her seat and the prompt attention thereafter was brilliant. The food was excellent and I cannot understand any negativity towards this top class cuisine and all round customer service. Well done and best wishes to the lovely staff for a great meal.

Ordered for collection at 5.30. Was told would be ready for collection at 6.30 latest. Food turned up at 7.45 so an hour and a quarter of my life wasted in the restaurant twiddling my thumbs. When I got it, It was just warm (so had to reheat the lot) and missing an item. If I’d know it would be so long I wouldn’t have bothered and due to the wait, my youngest, had to have an alternative without the family. So much for getting a takeaway to have a relaxed and carefree evening. Very disappointed with the whole lot. Food wasn’t even that good and just generally bland or sweet with tough meat. Naan bread was tiny, hardly any flavour and tough like cardboard. Clearly the place has gone downhill. No recommendations from me.

Just been back to this restaurant after a few months away. Same great food but appalling service. Table booked for 7pm but didn't get our starters till 8.20. Staff were polite but didn't seem to see it as a problem. This is what will make me look elsewhere. My original review is below in case this was a single bad night. Great chance last night to visit this good Indian Restaurant in a former pub. Staff were friendly, informative and helpful. Food was well prepared and presented. Prices seemed reasonable to me. We are from their fixed price banquets menu (Monday to Thursday). Full A La Carte is also available which I will try next time I visit. Update: So, I have now visited several times and eaten dishes from across the A La Carte menu. All have been excellent and obviously prepared with care giving me a wide variety of tastes and flavours. On this visit we were even served an amuse bouche!

I’ve been here several times with my friends, and never been disappointed. Tonight I took my wife for the first time, and once again everything was exceptional. Needless to say, we will be going back very soon.

Had a fantastic meal here. Not your usual Indian curry house, definitely a bit special. The dishes are quite unique, superbly cooked and carefully presented. The service is friendly, quick but not rushed. The decor is not to everyone's taste, a bit like a 70's disco to look at, but it's relaxing. One word of warning though. If you order a takeaway be prepared for a VERY long wait. Even pre-ordering online usually results in a 45 min wait when you pick up. Definitely much better to eat in!

The best Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in. Not cheap but great for a special meal or if someone needs a treat. Not the fastest service and can get very busy. But worth every minute's wait and every penny. Can't wait until I can go again.

Food took a little longer than normal to arrive than other restaurants but you can really tell they're putting that time and attention to good use, so relax, take your time and enjoy. If not the best meal I've ever eaten in a restaurant, its a close contender and I'll be back to explore more of the menu first chance I get

Just wanted to say we’ve been dining at the Jashn for the last 8 yrs and it never disappoints, it just gets better and better, the food ,the guys behind Kucks are superb 5 STARS the best food in the North.

Me and my husband Came here for the first time on Friday and the food and staff were outstanding we will definitely be back to try more of there fantastic food 😁

I ordered from here for a takeaway, having a chicken madras, tarka daal, garlic naan, pilau rice and chips. The chips were cold and like cheap cardboard fries so they went straight in the bin. The rest of the order was cold also. The madras was okay in flavour but lacked spice, and it was watery, as was the daal. Naan and rice were okay but that alone wasn’t enough to save my meal. Unfortunately I would not recommend and would not return.

I friend took me along when we were travelling for work. Brilliant service, staff and atmosphere. Go for the House Chicken Madras, a real fiery curry, not for the faint hearted. Thank you guys for a 1st class dining experience.

If you haven't tried Jashn yet, you're missing out! This is both mine and my partner's favourite Indian restaurant, we have a tradition of eating here for his birthday every year. The staff are extremely friendly and always ensure our experience is up to a high standard. And the food, oh the food is just unbelievably scrumptious! You have to try the Garlic Methi Bhuna! My partner had the Tandoori chicken and that was super delicious too! Have already recommended Jashn to my friends and family.

We had the set menu, could not fault any of the dishes supplied. All members of the group enjoyed their meal and the staff were all very pleasant.

Have been going here for years and always have a great meal. The staff are always friendly and will change a recipe if you have a intolerance.

Food was fabulous but the service very slow.

Great service. Staff are friendly and helpful. Starters were lovely- chicken chaat. Pilau rice was okay, the portion was good but there was flavour there that I didn't like. I would recommend getting other rice options they have. The mains- naga jol was mouth numbly spicy and delicious. To be expected as it is a naga dish. It is heavily onion based, should be considered of it suits your taste.

This is the second time I’ve brought my friends here who have travelled from down south. Both times we’ve had the journey menu and both times it’s been outstanding and amazing. My friends have said every time they come to visit make sure a table is booked here as it’s the best experience they’ve had in regards to an Indian restaurant.

Visited on a Saturday night. Really busy with takeaways so it took quite a while for courses to arrive. For example we ordered 2 desserts. I'd eaten mine before my sons even arrived. But food OK, nothing special, just like any other Indian restaurant or takeaway.
