Jar Bar in Barnsley

We each had a chicken and halloumi gyros with chips. It was delicious, I would definitely recommend 👍

I recently visited Jar Bar hoping for a good meal, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The moment I received my dish, I noticed that the meat had a strange smell, which instantly raised my suspicions. I tried to eat it, but the unpleasant odor made it impossible for me to finish my meal. To make matters worse, the next day I found myself dealing with what I can only describe as food poisoning. It was an awful experience, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I’m really disappointed because I was looking forward to enjoying my meal. I won’t be returning to Jar Bar anytime soon, and I can’t recommend it to anyone who values their health. Avoid at all costs!

Ok, had the new double SPARTACUS burger. Huge 2 burgers pljeskevica spicy meat tasted of chorizo but think it might just be mega strong garlic. Chips loads and everything nice and hot and fairly quick, 15mins on a Friday lunchtime. £15 so not the cheapest but ok for a treat. Been there done it. Next.....

Not a lot of love gone into the gyros. Sorry guys but it was really bland and the meat was very dry. More salad would help- onion, cucumber ect. (All I got was iceberg and a tomato) Tzatziki needs love. It tasted like cottage cheese.

Terrible service, I acknowledged one of the staff on arrival who just looked straight through me and continued to stand about. Zero engagement when I did get served. I might as well have not been there! Small portion for the price, chips were far too salty and meat was dry.

We enjoyed the food, the service was very quick and the food hall was really busy. We ordered 2 gyros, a side of halloumi and 2 cans of coke, all in it was about 32 quid. The gyros were tasty, good size portion and nicely proportioned with salad, sauce, bread and chicken. Large portion of fries on the side and a curry flavoured dip. The halloumi was the best I've ever had, really soft cheese and a nice crispy coating. It was really cooked to perfection. We will be visiting again.

Service took about half an hour but that's because it's very popular. Does a mean gyros plus other food. It's in Barnsley market kitchen and there's plenty of other eating places. Indian, Turkish, Pizza etc. Great for families and adults out with friends. Not bad prices either. There also a bar in the middle of the food hall and enough staff so you're not waiting long. We all left full.

Staff were lovely but the food tasted warmed up. Nothing seemed fresh. Left very disappointed in the meal

I had the mixed pork and chicken gyro with fries the fries the crispy on the outside and soft in the inside . The gyro was absolutely sublime so fresh and the were so tender highly recommend coming here

Jar Bar on the food court in the glass house. Eaten here a few times, food always been excellent. 05/08/23 Saturday lunch. 12:40 very busy. Had Gourmet sharing Platter, chicken, sausage, kofta, chips, pickled cauliflower, gherkins, peppers. £16, great value for 2 people. We were full. Service excellent, less than 10 minutes. Drinks from food court bar, £10.

Had to wait a little longer than normal due to been very busy. but can say hand on heart well worth it thank you for a great authentic greek meal. Will be calling again

This is my third visit to Jar Bar. I will continue to offer my custom whenever I eat in the market kitchen. The portions are big, the food is tasty, the staff are friendly and the wait time isn't long at all. Being a creature of habit, I find that I usually stick to what I know and what I am comfortable with and I know, without a shadow of doubt that whenever I buy food from Jar Bar, I am going to have an enjoyable meal that leaves my taste buds buzzing and wanting more. On this visit, I chose to order the mixed Gyros with fries. There is nothing that I could pick apart with this meal, everything was perfect. The only difference I would like to see would be for there to be more - that is only because I can't get enough of this food and not because the portions are lacking. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Had chicken gyros with chips, chicken chewy and slimey, no flavour to meal, chips greasy and tasted so, even squashed a few chips and could see the grease drip out. This used to be a good place for food, but has gone down hill.

Food was nice but let down by poor service and not getting what we paid for. Waited ages as they had lost our order, no apology given just told we had to wait longer. Eventually given a tray consisting of a burger, a sausage and some fries which since we paid £20 for two meals was disappointing. Only realised later my meal should have had pitta and a salad too. So unfortunately a poor experience and won't be going back

Weekend lunch, ordered a Leonidas burger that had the sausage missing when taken to the table, returned it and the staff were excellent. The order was remade with additional halloumi fries and the offer of a drink for the error. Great burger and even better customer service.

Lovely staff, pork and chicken nicely cooked and succulent, nice fresh soft wraps, lovely fries cooked in fresh oil and lovely and crisp, not too long to wait even though they were busy. Unfortunately the Gyros were bland and tasteless, even the lovely looking and creamy yellow sauce that came in the pot was tasteless and the wraps were a little too small to get some chips into the wrap like a traditional Gyros. It wouldn't need much tweaking to be perfect, the lack of flavour is the biggest issue to address and easy enough to rectify by offering at least one other sauce that has more flavour and punch to it. The one we had in York recently from the street food van in the shambles was delicious, not that much difference to here but much tastier. We'd definitely be regular customers with some more flavourful sauces.

If you are looking for gyros like the ones from Greece, don’t waste your time.

Had a classic burger with cheese, salad and a seeded bun with extra fries. Beautiful. Will be going back to be more adventurous with the menu.

Great food , Sliders to die for 💯

I've eaten from this place a few times now and everything that I have ordered has been amazing. Every time I finish a meal I become overwhelmed with sadness knowing that I've finished it. I count the days before I can have another one and I lament the fact that my puny human body cannot sustain their whole menu in one sitting. I hope that one day I build a physique that can withstand all of their offerings, I will consume their menu all at once and finally achieve a state of true bliss. Also the chips are amazing and there's a little pot of like mustard coloured sauce that comes with it and I don't know what it is but I would drink it out of a pint glass if I could.

After searching for years, I haven't been able to find a gyros that took me back to the days in greece. Then I found this place, service, food and staff were amazing. Quick service even in these uncertain times.

Lovely surroundings, gorgeous drinks on par with top city cocktail bars, lovely food, only down point was bar table service was very slow. We had been seated 15 mins before anyone came to us, we ended up ordering 2 drinks each at a time. We will still continue to go though. Fab little gem in the middle of town

Superb takeaway meal. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely order from here again. Delivery was prompt and the salad was very fresh. The burger was tasty and the halloumi plentiful. Worth every penny.
