Jamps Wine Bar and Cantonese Restaurant in Doncaster

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience in Jamps for my birthday. The food was authentic, tasty, and exquisite. The atmosphere in the restaurant is unique, with its bougie decor and stylish bar area. Totally recommend. Absolutely delightful.

Sometimes the food is good, sometimes not so much and once simply awful. Service always good, staff friendly and helpful.

Service is very poor. It took almost 2 hours before we were served. The staff lacked with enthusiasm in doing their jobs. The price was extremely high for what it really cost in other restaurants. A huge regret for celebrating a special occasion in this restaurant. I would not recommend it to friends and relatives.

Visited for a birthday meal with friends. Not been for several years. Previously been impressed with delicious and tender 'fillet steak' used in beef dishes on the menu. Opted for a set menu (D) however the beef dish served did not contain beef that looked or tasted like fillet steak as described in the menu. It was chewy, lacked taste, and no different to any typical Chinese restaurant 'beef'. Disappointed particularly as we'd told friends how good it had been previously. Overpriced for the quality. On the plus side could not fault the service.

Food was good but I genuinely thought the price was quite high for what it is. There are far better quality dishes in other restaurants which aren't as expensive. I won't be coming back, however, I cannot fault the service and the atmosphere was good. Music wasn't too loud which helped me feel relaxed. Very expensive for what it is.

Lovely food, great service, would definitely recommend, the only snag, wasn't their fault, a young couple on nearby table both playing videos on their phones constantly, spoiling the ambience with screechy awful noise. Maybe a ban on noise making electronics. Or a polite reminder that it isn't acceptable. Don't know, but it's a beautiful place and a shame our enjoyment and quiet talking was overwhelmed by constant tinny squalling.

High prices , mediocre food. Not visited for around 4 years. Food is below average not much taste to each dish , some of the dishes not even served hot. Considering the prices a complete rip off!!

Had a lovely evening. Food was excellent staff friendly. Service a tad slow but they were busy and some of the staff still training. Still a great place for a quality Cantonese meal. Would recommend. We had set meal for 4.

Great Cantonese restaurant...loved it

Food was good but nothing special that you can't get from a takeaway and when its double the price, when ordering multiple rice make sure you ask for it separately or they may put it all in 1 big bowl. Also some items sold when getting a takeaway but not served for eating in. Staff were polite and it was nice and clean.

Ordered via telephone based on their website menu. Only to arrive and be informed the price has risen significantly. When we queried this, Paul the wonderful manager and his amazing attitude instantly made me want to shove the food up his box. We left without food and much happier for it. Poor service, poorer attitude.

Ordered a takeaway and were extremely disappointed as none of it had any flavour whatsoever even the chillies in the salt and pepper starters had no heat or taste and expensive for a takeaway. A great shame as in the past we have always been happy with the quality of the meals from here

Lovely service, but I got the orange chicken and it tasted like it was covered in a melted calippo ice lolly. Even the smell was too sickly to stomach. The rest of my family were happy with their food, but I’d recommend staying away from that dish

10 minutes away from China rose and is a decent alternative. Price wise it is cheaper and the food is comparable. Including soft drinks expect to pay around £25 per head. The surroundings are pleasant but certainly not as swanky as China rose. For a big celebration the bright lights of the China Rose is appealing, however for a less glitzy alternative with good food Jamps is worth a try.

Fantastic food and service can't fault this place for dining out. Maxine Paul and their staff can't do enough for you to be polite and professional in customer service.

Jamps is a firm favourite with our family and we had a lovely evening, the food was really nice , and the service was excellent, the staff very attentive, and lovely surroundings, the only downside was our bill, good job we checked we were over charged on drinks, wouldn't normally say anything but apparently this has happened twice previous to the family members we were with.

Lovely atmosphere, not noisy even though restaurant full. Staff were really friendly and attentive but not checking up all the time which was perfect. Food was very nice too. A little bit pricy but worth it.

We’ve been coming here for years, since back when it was its former “The Red Lion”. The food is consistently good and the staff are equally as great. The manager is also very attentive and fantastic. As much as we are “loyal” to the China Rose in Bawtry whenever we are out that way; my mum said that our meal this evening at Jamps was better (the fillet steak). I can never fault this restaurant.

Whether dining in or ordering a takeaway the food has always been amazing and the service top notch.

Had a lovely evening here today. They managed to cater for our party of 16 with no problems at all. Food was delicious and the menu extremely reasonably priced. Highly recommended

This little GEM ticked every box, the service was excellent, food was very well presented and tasty we had a fillet steak sizzle and a seafood dish. The decor was very well thought out , I want to tell everyone about Jamps.

Great place love the staff and food

Our usual Chinese takeaway was closed so popped in here for a much needed meal. It was ok but not what we are used to. A reasonable replacement I suppose but I've yet to find a good substitute for the Dutch pinda sauce under the name of Satay sauce in this country.

Only came for a drink and had one of the best pints to have ever touched me top lip! Staff were friendly and wasn't too busy so had an enjoyable pint with me mates. Good selection of booze; I had some Japanese lager they had on tap. Phwoar... what a pint! Definitely look forward to coming back, and may have a meal here at some point though am not a big fan of Chinese.

Took the kids . They really enjoyed it

Just got back from what I hoped would be an enjoyable evening. Just as we had sat down the waiter came round with drinks and managed to tip a large glass of orange and lemonade over me!!! I was so shocked I didn't speak. I felt utterly humiliated and spent the next 10 mins in the ladies using the blow dryer on my top. Apart from a half-hearted apology from a staff member when I returned there was nothing to suggest rhey were particularly bothered. I would have left immediately if it had just been the two of us. I stayed because we were seeing friends we had not met in months. I won't be going back. I found the quality of the food reasonable but could not understand the lack of concern. I have worked in catering in the past and the bill would certainly have been waived for a dining couple in those circumstances.

The food here was amazing. But the service was shocking, I phoned to reserve a table, I also asked if it would be ok to bring my pushchair also, I was told yes this wouldn’t be a problem as they could accommodate us, however on arrival I was asked to leave my pushchair outside, when we seated and our food was bought out to us it was pretty much thrown on the table, we had just finished eating our meals (I still had some left, I was just giving my baby his dummy and blanket back) a waiter came to the table cleared it without asking if we had finished, our receipt was put on the table and we hadn’t checked the bill before given the card machine to pay. We were told that when we finished and was ready to leave a member of staff would assist to carry the pushchair down the stairs, this wasn’t the case. Again I cannot fault the food in anyway just a shame the service wasn’t as good as we had hoped.

Just eaten a fabulous meal and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Arrived at opening time and were the only customers for the first hour. Staff very attentive and the food sublime, if you only ever eat one meal go for the beef and green peppers in a black bean sauce, delicious and the meat so tender.

Great for takeaway. Been twice. Got order wrong first time and second time the food was not quite as good. Still good.

At last, after years of looking, I've found a Chinese restaurant that my picky vegetarian (eats seafood now and again) partner is happy with! He did his usual complaining but as it was my birthday, he couldn't object. He finally chose a coconut curry and amazingly loved it. This is by far the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. Really lovely atmosphere and lots of character. Food fabulous. Staff very friendly and helpful and I couldn't believe the really reasonable price. Will definitely return.

I'm a regular customer who can't recommend Jamp's enough. Nice staff, great food and very accommodating. Gluten free is available on many dishes and is highly rated by my gluten intolerant wife.

Utterly revolting rude service. Avoid at all costs. China rose in bawtry is much better.

Only had the privelige of the takeaway menu at the moment, but this is easily the best chinese/cantonese around.
