We visited this restaurant with high hopes given that it was a Jamie Oliver venture. It was so poor it beggared belief. Most dishes tasted like they were just heated up in a microwave and a sirloin steak that cost £23 which was more like rump steak and inedible. To call this an Italian restaurant is an insult to Italian cuisine as it was not authentic, poor quality ingredients and so very badly prepared. How on Earth this restaurant managed to become a chain of many is astounding, other than the fact that it relies on the Jamie Oliver name.

I figured this would just be another average restaurant chain, but I've really enjoyed both meals I've had here for lunch. Service was friendly, food was high quality, prices were reasonable and you get large portions. I'd be happy to come back again!

...which is a real shame as it should be a top quality restaurant of England. We love Jamie since he started cooking but this particular restaurant puts his name in shame. The staff is untrained, slow and sloppy, the wooden tables are dirty and sticky at all times, our cutlery was full of greasy fingerprints so we had to ask for new ones, also used glasses were left on our table, just after cleaning it up. We were craving for some dessert and coffee therefore we chose Jamie's Italian instead of Costa to experience a bit higher quality in terms of ingredients, flavours and service. Upon arrival we were given the Christmas menu and a drink card, but that did not contain any coffees, whereas we saw their coffee leaflet by the counter, so we specifically asked for it. Unfortunately none of the three chatting ladies staff were able to give us the coffee menu, so we got the drink card again instead. Clearly they had no idea it even existed or have never read the drink card?! So we had to stand up again and ask for that particular menu a second time, this time we succeeded. Our tiramisu was below average and a bit dry as well, the brownie seemed smaller than usual, but was ok. We also ordered two espressos with liqueur, one of them with Amaretto, which was alright but mine was missing the Orange liqueur. We've also seen a waitress walking around with her mobile phone in her back pocket, very unprofessional, not to mention the lack of uniforms on many of the staff. Our previous visit was quite poor as well a year ago but today's experience was the "cherry on top" and we do not intend to go back again, unless major change in management.

We visited Jamie's Italian, Bluewater purely as a last choice as everywhere else had a minimum wait for a table or had ques out the door. I now see why. There were 4 of us eating yesterday 1st Dec 2018, 2 adults and 2 children.Firstly I have to say the girl who served us yesterday was absolutely fantastic and could not apologise enough for the delay in bringing us the food and for how poor it looked and tasted. She organised a discount without any pressure or encouragement from ourselves, Which to be honest on reflection seems to have come too easily and would indicate that it be normal and repeated behaviour???I suspect Mr Oliver would be extremely unhappy with the quality of the food being served. I also suspect Mr Oliver has never seen the inside of most of "Jamies" eateries!!!The veggie burger I had was tasteless and felt like it came straight off a hot plate (not cooked but heated on a hot plate)The kids had chicken lollipops with healthy fries, that is if you could call uncooked sweet potato fries healthy. They were also given a salad in an airtight container, very healthy I know but as most of us, parents and grandparents know. Kids eating salad is a very rare and wondrous thing indeed. I suspect it was served in an airtight container as someone had the great idea of, it's not been touched by human hands so let's hoover it up and pass it on the next health-conscious child. The only problem with that Mr Oliver is. After a while, the salad starts to discolour and go brown then black. It might be worth re-training staff on the discolouration warning signs of aged food. That might just be a minor point but I don't think customers like to be served what looks like re-served food. You might get away with it if, it's clean looking. Just my non-expert opinion of course. One good point was. My wife ate all her lasagne. But even then 35 quid for a reasonable lasagne with most of the other meals being rubbish is a tad steep methinks.Needless to say, the foodie in this McGoldrick family will not see the inside of a "Jamie's" again.

I've been a regular visitor to Jamie's Italian Bluewater but I feel the quality of the food has deteriorated over the past year. The set menu is good value but the last 2 visits the chicken burger has been swimming in mayonaise and not as good as it has been. Make sure you join Jamie's Gold Club as you always get offers and tasters which is a nice touch.

This time the restaurant was virtually empty and although the food was good found it poor value for money. I had seafood linguine which was tasty but had to hunt for the prawns and lacking in other fruits from the sea. My husband had prawn linguine and he agreed not many prawns. I know it was a Monday night but other restaurants around were busy. Sorry Jamie won't go again.

Having scanned the main menu for Veggie dishes and struggled to identify which ones I could chooses from I asked the waitress for help. She told me there was a specific veggie menu to make life easier. It felt like a lot of love had gone into making sure there was a good selection of food for veggies such a treat.Children had great bags with activity packs and a delicious choice of about 8 main courses.Would throughly recommend this restaurant to other families. We booked for Saturday evening, with our kids eat free voucher over half term (already onto a winner). Kids packs were good, kept them entertained. We let the staff know there was a nut allergy amongst our group, and I was really impressed at how the staff then advised us with our orders on what foods were nut free and where there was a risk of cross contamination - obviously well trained on allergies. The food was delicious, far better in my view than comparable priced Italian restaurants. All in all, I would highly recommend this place, may just need to book for Saturday evening.

My husband and I went for an early lunch. We were very well looked after and the food was extremely good as was the bottle of Bianco. We were given a sample of their mushroom soup that was soon to be put on the new menu and were blown away by the delicious, intensely mushroom flavour. Next we had beef burgers which we both agreed were very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our dessert - I had the rich chocolate brownie and my husband had the tiramisu - both of which lived up to our expectations. We were unable to finish the wine so took it home with us. We will be returning!

Tried semifreddo after talking to Eduardo and he was right, it was absolutely delicious. I want to like Jamie's Italian. I like the concept of a simple menu using decent quality ingredients.Sadly, the concept is poorly executed. Today we had 'Nduja meatballs', 'Casarecce Carbonara' and 'Tuscan Lamb'. To drink, a Bellini and a Tuscan Sangiovese. The wine and Bellini were good. The meatballs were also pretty good. Bread was also reasonably good. The lamb was okay but had absolutely nothing to do with Tuscany. It tasted like lamb breast that was slow-cooked then subsequently deep-fried before serving. It wasn't a recognisably Tuscan dish and neither was it cooked in any recognisable Tuscan style. Nor did it use any typical Tuscan flavourings or ingredients. So why call it 'Tuscan Lamb'?The Casarecce pasta were perfectly cooked - sadly it's not always the case in the UK. But the 'Carbonara' sauce simply wasn't Carbonara. It had nothing whatsoever to do with the dish. It was a sauce made of leeks, pancetta and cream. My kids wanted Carbonara. They know what it is. They have it often in Italy and I cook it at home. They didn't like the leek, pancetta and cream sauce. It was okay as a leek, pancetta and cream sauce but why call it Carbonara?Service was okay but nothing special.Nothing about our meal was special. It seemed like such a waste of what I could tell were reasonably high quality ingredients. This was our fourth visit in the last couple of years. Doubt we'll return.

There wasn’t one moan everyone only had good things to say.An enjoyable evening had by everyone, we are happy to pay for excellent food but feel it’s not a place to go if you are on a budget. Visiting Bluewater for shops with daughter for her 26th birthday. Dreading acres of 'the same'.Choosing a meal was difficult as all outlets were anodyne chains. When daughter exclaimed she wanted to go to Jamie's, it was even worse, since he probably didn't even know it is there.Anyway. The welcome was great. Tall denim-clad blonde lady was charming. We were allowed to sit where we wanted rather than the seats/table offered. We were handed three menus, which was complex. No mention of the 'blackboard menu', or what was soup of the day. However all staff were charming. Drinks were efficiently served. Cocktails easy and reasonably priced. 'Tap' water tasted OK.Starters arrived almost courtesy of a time traveller; that quick. Scallops x 2 were superb. Pea and 'something' soup was a delight. (I hope it wasn't off a truck!). Prawn linguine, despite adverse comments elsewhere was really good. No rubbery crustaceans. Fresh tasting. Lobster pasta was good, but lacked a bit of seasoning. Lamb was disappointing (I've never had lamb in Italy).Bland.Desserts were good. Service was great, all the way through.Toilets were clean. Bill was very reasonable. Despite my antipathy towards chains, I would go again, with no hesitation.

Looked up the Bluewater menus beforehand as we wanted the latest Jamie Cooks Italian menu - inspired by the new Nonna series of recipes. Bluewater said they did them. When we got there, they weren't - first disappointment. After that I decided to have the Ham and Cheese croquettes but when asked for them - "Oh sorry, they're unavailable". WHY were we not told as soon as we sat down? Waitress then tried to tell me the Nachos were very nice instead. I said "But they'e not croquettes, I'll need a few minutes to decide again." She stayed where she was looking at me, and I had to repeat "I'll need a few minutes...." In the end we had a reasonably nice meal, but nothing to go mad over AND it wasn't a special Nonna recipe. Very let down as was looking forward to it.

I visited this restaurant on august 9th 2018 in the afternoon. On arrival the staff were quiet friendly with seating me and well mannered.I ordered from the 2 set menu which was reasonably priced around £12 (not including a drink). My starter was the crispy squid. Firstly i assumed it would just be similar to calamari just fried but this was so fried... i was pretty much munching on pure oil and batter which in turn made me feel sick. I had to order a glass of tap water to wash down the oil i had consumed. The squid was non existence to be fair.My main was the spagetti bolognese which consisted of mimimal meat and plenty of the flat thick pasta. It tasted bland and was below just ok. I mean i was starving and i do not like to waste food. I would be totally shocked if I'd have paid the full price menu for these dishes. Putting that aside i was served by a member of the staff that was on point with her service and assiting all customers when enterng and on tables with pleasant manners.I doubt i would eat here again and if so i would have to try some thing totally different.

Being a girl whom was Essexised in later years but formerly Italian - Jamie’s Italian had to be pretty special to impress me - but it has done so - time and time again. It’s all just brilliant! His waiters and waitresses and servers and kitchen staff always look the part - they’re perfect hybrids of Italian, Essex style (looking elegant and a bit sassy in jeans and shirts - none of them overtly made-up or sporting asymmetric bobs) They are smart and seemingly genuinely happy to be there working in their roles - and it’s so identifiably ‘Jamie’s Italian’ - it’s a brand that works so so well as it’s been steered personally by Jamie and his dream is realised and shared with us all. The staff, cleanliness, lighting and artefacts are always appreciated by me - even the ‘Crapper’ toilets and ‘Butler’ sinks. There’s a decadence about the restaurants that is only identifiable as Jamie’s Italians. It’s ALWAYS so good that I sometimes think they think I’m a mystery shopper - as it’s always so personable and on point! I love the sturdiness of the furnishings. The rustic Italian cuccina style with a kick of industrialisation- which perhaps is his doff to his Essex roots. The food is served from cuccina to ragazza with a big dollop of Essex love bursting out through the Italian textures, flavours and colour.

Popped in to Bluewater to buy some cards and decided to treat ourselves to lunch. After the usual 10 to 15 minutes mulling over what we fancied, we thought we'd try Jamie's Italian. As with many eateries in Bluewater, the layout is fairly open plan, but due to Jamie's location, you don't get the usual throng of shoppers wandering around looking in. There was a nice welcome at the entrance and the tables and decor do give the feeling of being anywhere but a shopping mall. Good menu and variation. Good wine and beer choice too. The food was delicious, well cooked and delivered to table at your preference time wise. The best part of the experience however was our waitress. Sadly, I didn't get her name but she was a delight. Attentive, courteous and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain the various meats, cheeses and chilli's on our shared starter platter and the various beers. She made us feel relaxed and important in an informal but professional manner. Such a refreshing change. We will definitely return.

When you book a table at a very well known chefs restaurant you expect it to be an amazing experience.. But I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant before. I am absolutely gutted that after a week of looking forward to going to Jamie's Italian it turned out to be an experience that wasn't worth waiting for at all. I booked a table for 2 as we had a voucher for a three course meal with a glass of prosecco each on arrival. We were shown to a table of 4 next to the stairs with next to no light and a wonky table, there was no thought what so ever. We waited 10 minutes for a waitress to even ask what we would like to drink, even though there were plenty of members of staff standing around doing nothing. We shared the meat plank sharing starter which was nice, but when the waitress finally come over to ask what we wanted for our mains she left the our plates and the plank sitting in front of us and so did 3 other members of staff as they walked past laughing and talking not paying any attention what so ever - which is pretty much what we witnessed the whole night. When the mains arrived I'd previously jokingly said to my partner "I hope my dinner isn't all pasta and no sauce" but unfortunately that is exactly what it was. There was no flavour to my dinner, the pasta was slightly hard, there was hardly any sauce and any pieces of meat I did eventually find were rock hard! Luckily my partner enjoyed his trout which was cooked beautifully. The chocolate brownie and the prosecco were definitely the only two things I enjoyed throughout the whole evening. If it hadn't of been for the prepaid voucher which we received as a joint birthday present then there is no way I would of stayed as long as I did.

We are gold members andd booked the table in advance mentioning my daughters birthday. It was 31st May at 5.30pm and the restaurant was very quiet. They did not know about her birthday when we arrived so mentioned again. They even made a note of her name. We ordered our food. After waiting a fair amount of time we were told the nachos x 2 that my son had ordered as his main meal had run out. Why did they not realise sooner? The rest of the food was ready so he had to wait while we ate for his food he then ordered to come. He was not happy. My daughter didn’t get her shake it up salad with her meal either. Maybe we should have said something but felt we had already waited some time. The food portions seemed to have got smaller too although my prawn linguini tasted lovely. When it was time for desert my daughter wanted a chocolate brownie only to be told in doesn’t come on the kids menu. They could have made her feel so special as they have done in the past. Instead we didn’t order dessert and there was nothing. They have in the past given her a candle to blow out which is why she picked to go there. Nothing this time and they weren’t busy. Smaller portions, lack of interest from anyone, and lack of organisation when it came to getting food at the same time left us disappointed especially an 11 year old who’s birthday it was.

Went out for 38th Wedding Anniversary with three grandchildren aged 6,4 and 2. Kids’ meals highest quality with lowest additives. Kids had pizzas and ice lollies, youngest had spaghetti bolognese. All got a fun jar of salad and raw veggies too. We had three courses. No charge for two kids and as they were a little slow on service - we didn’t complain- no charge for the third either!Love Jamie’s anyway but great reliable food for 5 of us, fun packs and good food for kids for £33! I think Jamie would say ‘Happy Days’.Thanks for a great night.

I have to say without a doubt this is the best service I’ve ever received. We were greeted by the manager on arriving and taken to a table suitable for myself my partner and my 6 month old daughter. When ordering we felt relaxed and the lovely waitress even spoke to my daughter to make her feel involved too. The manager on shift went above and beyond I couldn’t fault her at all and made me and my partner feel at ease and made my birthday day out special indeed. I will indeed go back to this restaurant again even if it’s a 3 hours drive. Fantastic.

We visited this Jamie’s Italian on Tuesday evening and found it to be just ok. Whilst my husband enjoyed a good quality steak, I found my ‘truffled chicken under a brick’ to be quite unremarkable. I’d mistakenly ordered sweet potato fries believing that a side was included with my dish, and it’s a good thing that I had otherwise all I would have had was some chicken breast (with tough skin) and a very wet sauce. The starters were dull and poor value for money (the bruschetta was simply two pieces of bread with a very small amount of cheese and tomato) but the desserts were better, although still a bit over-priced. The children’s menu has clearly had a lot of thought put into it, unfortunately it is just too expensive for what it is (and the dessert is extra - £1.50 for a TINY spoon of ice cream). The atmosphere matched the food – quirky yet lacklustre, and the waiting staff were not particularly enthusiastic. I won’t be returning to this restaurant, especially as Bluewater has so much more to offer elsewhere.

Oh dear! After eating at other JI restaurants, I have to say this has been the worst for service with the food not up to standard. We didn't risk a dessert! From being seated we waited 15 minutes before anyone came near the table for drink orders. We decided to order the food as well as the drinks at the same time. Good job we did as the drinks appeared, followed 25 minutes later by a starter. I had to ask the front desk staff to hurry things up because we had the cinema booked. It was then that the starter appeared (free of charge) and we asked for the mains to be brought out asap. The garlic bread came out with a chunk of potato in it!!! We asked for water for the table which came served in a warm glass jug(!) with no ice to cool the water. Plenty of ice in the original drink order though. Main meals were pasta based and ok. Suffice to say we won't be rushing back. Disappointing start to our evening.

My wife had a slight hiccup here in early 2017. She then had a pleasant exchange of messages between herself & Mr Oliver about the first misunderstanding that resulted in us being invited to come back on any evening for a meal. The first visit was my wife and a friend of hers as I have never had a wish to eat at one of Jamie’s Italians but my wife convinced me I should give it a try. Judging by the reviews this particular restaurant is a bit up and down to say the least. Fortunately for our visit it was certainly an up. The service was really friendly the food although I found a couple of dishes a bit strange was really nice wine was a little expensive but very tasty. All in all a pleasant evening out but I must say for the price of the meal the decor in the restaurant is a little tired and uncomfortable.

I then had a Sunday which was nice a medium glass of wine (which we got free with my gold card). This was £20 so not bad value. The service was good.

We visited Jamie's at Bluewater on Saturday evening, around 6pm and had our names put on the list for a table as we were told there was a 45 mins wait. That was fine, it was very busy everywhere. We came back after 45 mins and were told that our table wasn't ready yet, so to wait in the bar area. As it was for our daughter's 17th birthday, we bought a round of drinks. During the further 40 minutes we spent standing at the bar for our table, we watched 5 tables being vacated and filled by other people, despite being told we were next to be seated. Table turnover was very slow with three tables being free for a good 15 mins. We asked several times how much longer we would have to wait, only to watch others turning up and being seated! In the end, our daughter decided she would rather just go to KFC than wait and be ignored any longer! Not the birthday meal we had planned for her. I'd like to be able to leave a review on the food, but as we didn't make it any further than the bar area, I am obviously unable to comment.

We ate here on February 25th as part of my daughter's 18th birthday celebrations, when we asked to be seated away from the entrance so that we could have a little peace and quiet (away from the crowds of kids outside the cinema), we were told "we're not using the rear or upstairs today as we are short staffed" and we were seated right by the entrance! We ordered our drinks and meals and while we were waiting we took the cutlery out of the quirky but very poorly cleaned tomato tin on the table, only to find old food stuck to one of the knives. I asked the waitress for another knife and she went off to get it and promptly forgot, when our food arrived I had to ask another waiter for the replacement. My wife and daughter had burgers and I had ravioli, all of which were okay but nothing exceptional. My son is a bit of a lasagne fan so he ordered that, it was mostly tomato (which he is not a fan of), so he left two thirds of it.I don't know if we were expecting too much from what is essentially an expensive shopping mall cafeteria but we were disappointed and won't be eating there again.

Came here on a weekday evening with a £10 off a £30 spend voucher having had lunch here the previous day. There are a lot of options on the menu for veggies and all sound delicious. I finally decided on the veggie burger with sweet potato fries and my partner had the fritto misto to start and Italian steak and fries on the 2 courses for £11.95 menu. Steak is £3 extra but well worth it. Both meals were lovely and we couldn’t resist the chocolate brownie dessert for £3 extra on the 11:95 menu. Wow, it was a proper brownie with salted caramel ice cream and popcorn, beautiful! Couldn’t fault our visit, staff were very polite and attentive and we’re really disappointed that the restaurant is closing in the next couple of months. We arrived at the restaurant having just completed a very intense two hours of shopping some 15 minutes early for our reservation.Initially we were told that our waitress was not ready so could we perhaps have a drink at the bar. I looked at the several empty tables and said surely there was a table free now and a second member of staff said there was a table free and we were shown to our table. Our waiter was pleasant and took the drink order quickly and was there to take our one course meal order. The food (a cauliflower cheese gnocchi and a prawn linguine) was brought fairly quickly. My linguine was served in a stacked manner which looked good but took a bit of work to break up and I wondered if it had been left like it for a while before being served. We have visited a lot of Jamie’s across the country and usually find them a good bet - this I am afraid was a disappointment and not one their charismatic owner would have enjoyed.

I have been few times in this restaurant and the last yesterday. The food is getting worse and worse, probably the chef changed and he is not professional at all, it’s like get food from the garbage bin. Dry food, burned, over cooked and no taste at all. Waiters changing all the time, too young, not professional and impolite. Manager too young without any clue about management , not well paid probably. Service slow and table dirty not very clean the place either. Just an abandoned restaurant spoiling a good franchising name and with high prices comparing with what you really get. They need to fire everybody and change all the workers without any pity, the one working at the moment, are just there to spoil client relations and Italian food quality. I am Italian, shamed that those people present such rubbish around saying that it’s Italian. Out everybody and straightaway. Don’t go there , it’s an awful experience.

We were visiting Bluewater on a Saturday so booked a table for 7.30pm. Unfortunately, our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we waited at the bar. 15 minutes later, when we asked if our table was now ready, we were told that it had accidentally been given to someone else and a table at the bar was suggested. As we had booked and wanted a quiet table, we refused the table. Surprisingly, we were immediately given another table at the back where a few tables were empty. We ordered bruschetta for starters which came with no olive oil or basil or even seasoning. It was just cherry tomatoes (not even chopped) on some bread with a sliver of ricotta (which tasted more like a cheap cheese spread than ricotta). We had the vegetarian bolognese for mains and the portions were 3/4 pasta and one quarter bolognese. Certainly not worth the price!Jamie's food was certainly not better (or worse) than other cheaper Italian chains. A big disappointment all around.

My boyfriend received his main course 10 minutes before I received mine.3) Food- the lasagne was the size of a weight watchers microwave meal and my spaghetti Bolognese (something impossible to get wrong) was a pile of pasta and some watery sauce with less than a handful of mince. Some improvements are to be had. I cannot believe this is one of Jamie’s restaurants. I’m sure he’d be utterly disappointed if he was us tonight.

Sat at the next table & were given the menus and told at least 4/5 dishes on the menu weren't available! We then waited for a waitress to ask what we wanted to drink, and.....we waited....and waited and although there were 3 waitresses standing chatting to each other at the bar, all standing facing us, looking at them, no one bothered to serve us. We were there for 15 minutes waiting for service, we then got up & walked out of the restaurant without one member of staff asking if there was a problem. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Visited this restaurant twice along with my partner whilst we were at the Bluewater shopping centre. It was a Monday afternoon and it was a quiet day, we were the only people who were in the restaurant. When we arrived, it took a long time for any members of staff to notice that we were there at all, when a member of staff came over, he showed us to a table and left us. It was about 20 minutes of several people and members of staff walking past before anyone came back to take our orders despite trying to summon a waiter. Eventually we managed to order though the food itself didn’t take that long to arrive after ordering. The food was warm when it arrived and it could not be faulted at all, it was delicious and we both agreed that we enjoyed our food. However I feel that the food is fairly hyped up and overpriced due to it being a ‘Jamie Oliver’ chain restaurant and for this reason we probably wouldn’t come back again.
