Jamaica Blue Cafe in Reading

Quite a surprise, to be honest; nice place, in particular being in a hospital, clean, comfortable and good coffee.

A really nice cafe with a good range of food and drink to choose from. Service is good and there is a decent amount of seating to eat your food at.

Had a peri peri chicken wrap was very good and the banana milkshake was divine

Although I love their coffee and food. On my last visit I was charged twice for the same items. I asked if my transaction had gone through and was told no therefore presented my card again. Not until I arrived home I noticed this had happened. Tried to call the local phone number several times and got no answer. Left messages but never received a response. Emailed head office several times who also couldn't be bothered to reply. So I've resigned myself to the fact that I've lost the money and I'm not going to hear anything from Jamaica Blue about this error on their side.

A nice quiet place to unwind and enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee or tea and a taste hot sausage roll when visiting the Royal Berkshire Hospital !

Over priced and not very friendly staff

They put the sugar in for me as my right hand is affected from strokes!

It's good but a bit expensive for a cafe

Very very expensive in hospital café. Service is abysmal. They have cups and saucers but don't use them, making everyone have a takeaway mug, paper plate etc. At the price they charge I expect proper crockery and utensils.

The friend's cafe tucked away on the ground floor was 100% better coffee and a pound less. The coffee was so bad I couldn't drink it.

Busy and crowded fast food coffee shop in South Block of the RBH. The service is good. The selection of food isn't my favourite, but it's edible. The place is right on the main corridor through the hospital. It's noisy and crowded at the times most people want to eat. And it's not exactly disabled friendly. The tables and chairs are too close together to permit a disabled person or someone in a wheelchair easy access.

A visit to this cafe always makes a visit to RBH more tolerable! They have a great variety of food of good quality and their coffee is excellent. Very handy for Outpatients. Not surprising its often very busy.

Asked that coffee not filled to top of cup and it was resulting in it spilling all over me luckily enough it wasn't hot enough to scold

Bad service, coffee in take away cups and toasted sandwiches in paper bag and on paper plates while eating in. Even though they had proper cups. Seats very dirty and expensive.

The coffee is great and they are very friendly when serving no complaints. What i did find a little hard is the volume of 3 of the team talking. They were excluding another member of staff as she was not able to join in on the conversation. This made me feel uncomfortable

Very good coffee and delicious food. The only issue is price…£6 for a sandwich is a bit much. This is the nicest place to eat and drink at the hospital though :)

I am a regular outpatient at the hospital, and this cafe has been a lifeline for me. Great staff, excellent coffee/snacks, and a very friendly service. It is a tad expensive, however, but worth it for the quality. I look forward to visiting the cafe when I go for treatment at the RBH.

Pretty good pies but fairly expensive

More expensive than average but delicious food and friendly staff. Speedy service at lunch. The chocolate brownie I had was divine. I will definitely be visiting again if I have to come into the hospital and I highly recommend checking this eatery out if in need of food when in the Royal Berks.

Hmm? Exseeverly expensive, in a hospital you want a more unitarian affair. The majority of your customer base has far more pressing things on their minds and probably more on the cash strapped side.

Great place for a coffee when you have to be at the hospital.

I always have a latte with single shot & a food item when I have to visit the RBH. Today I tried the Chicken Tikka Ciabatta. Bad choice. Tried the Chicken Tikka alone. Was better but only a bit. [Verified customer. See attached receipt]

While at RBH, this cafe is on the first floor with a large seating area & a variety of pastries, sandwiches & good items. Americano was great & so was the bran muffin. Service was friendly & prompt. If you happen to be on this side of RBH, make a stop & relax. Enjoy your coffee & you are almost 50% fine already. Remember coffee is the best medicine 🙂☕️

Shame that all your delicious looking sandwiches contain egg… can’t eat any of them. A few without egg can’t be too much to ask??

Jamaica blue at the Royal Berkshire hospital. The staff are fantastic as they are super friendly and work well as a team, the food is always prepared well and some options can be warmed up at your request. The cafe does a variety of vegan friendly foods as well as a variety of meat based snacks my favourite being the salami sourdough baguette. The cafe has plenty of seats to sit in and has plenty of space for those that require aids such as a wheelchair. My frequent visits are always greeted with a smile and polite friendly conversation the staff really do make this place.

Made 2 coffee orders during a 2-hour wait at the hospital. The latte and pumpkin spice latte were wonderful and the gluten-free brownie was very nice. Very friendly staff members, was very pleased to have spent my waiting time at the cafe.

Friendly staff. Occasionally orders are wrong but this is usually when making multiple requests. Cakes are very good but a bit pricey.

It's a hospital cafe. Sandwich was great. I prefered the wrvs cafe though.

Once I ordered a coffee late, with cold milk, explained it was not need to heat the milk. They looked at me like if I was crazy, making a big deal of it. Don’t really see the complication of putting milk straight from the bottle. Then they started talking in their native language whilst preparing my coffee, very unfortunate that I could understand it…

Extortionate pricing and poor quality.

Only 3 stars today. I stop off here most visits to RBH and today experienced poor service. Ordered a flat white and was served in a take away paper cup despite the fact I intended to sit at a table and wait. It costs nothing to ask....

Scrupulously clean. Good quality coffee. Best of all was the gluten free banana and coconut muffin which was delicately delicious. The staff seemed knowledgeable on avoiding cross-contamination. Great cafe for Coeliacs. Just the pick up needed after a hospital visit.

I have visited this cafe and had no problem.But I recently visited and had a very disappointing experience and one I won't be repeating! Myself and my husband ordered one croissant and one bagel and the Bagel was very greasy.The Croissant was was cold and the milkshake I ordered was put in a small takeaway cup for £3.40 disgusting!! Very Bad Customer Service!!!!

I have my usual macchiato here every day. The staff is absolutely lovely. Aneta makes the best macchiato, she may be unnoticed sometimes, but she’s the queen of macchiato (and italians are fussy about coffee). Definitely recommended. Thumbs up for Nunoccino as well 👍🏻👍🏻

Either the staff are blind or they don't serve fat people. I waited at the tills to be served, two doctors came for their coffee and was served before me, ok that's fine I don't really mind but as for the rest of the FIVE customers who got served in front of me, wow! Got fed up in the end and left as my money is clearly too good at your café!!
