Jamaica Blue in Eastbourne

Excellent Caffè americano to be had here.. We were early visitors so quickly served, nice clean establishment. I had the lemon drizzle cake and my wife the spiced pumpkin slice… delicious

Visited today with family. Seemed friendly enough and an average run of the mill to grab a coffee. Was fairly quiet when visited, but that's perfect by me really when wanting some downtime and relaxation with other people in the group.

Lovely place in the Eastbourne mall. Best coffee in town and the food is good and fresh. Quick service but very busy on weekends.

Came in with my family today to have breakfast and many thing went wrong. The whole shop was filled with smoke, making it impossible to breathe or even see. The food was late but was understandable because it was quite busy but because of how difficult it was to breathe, we decided we should just get a refund and leave. A lady at the register was talking with another customer and we only needed to ask one question which was if our meals were ready and if not, we were leaving. We ask the multiple other people working, one girl stares at us and walks away and another working with the coffee doesn't even look at us. So we speak up again, but only this time the girl working with the coffee aggressively says "I'm clearly busy right now" and then loudly says to herself "how rude". If you can't handle customers then don't work at a coffee shop, simple. As regulars we will definitely not be coming back, would rather find another coffee shop we can actually breathe in, save your money and don't come.

Food was tasty, had egg & bacon bagel. Also, had chocolate milkshake which was delicious.

Jamaica blu is best place to enjoy your free time ,coffee is great, food delicious, staff very friendly.

The food is Absolutely diabolical

Ordered a cold long black and cold late as named on their menu. They arrived as an Americano and a hot latte. When I said these were incorrect I was forcefully told I should have said iced latte and iced Americano. I showed the lady the names given to the drinks on the menu but she insisted I should ask for iced. We had already waited 10 mins for the drinks to sauce. I will never be back, she was so rude.

First visit. Milkshake was lovely but the cake I bought tasted wierd and felt stale. Took it to the young lady who quickly resolved the issue. Had the ginger cake which was lovely and fresh. A good place for a rest for lost and tired shopingtherapy exausted husbants.😅

Veryyy slow service. There was 1 customer in front of me being served and multiple staff behind the counter; hardly any customers in the cafe. I was standing there for almost 10 minutes waiting to be served and was completely ignored. Absolutely bizarre experience! I ended up walking out because I was waiting for such a long time without being served or even acknowledged.

I love the place. The staff are all very attentive and friendly. Just a small feedback: your chicken souvlaki is not a souvlaki but gyros! It's a misleading but delicious! 😋

Awful food, expensive and not worth the money - breakfast was mainly microwaved and dried out. Barely warm. Not impressed at all. Will not be eating here again.

Another rubbish place to east in eastbourne town.

A wonderful experience. It was my first visit today and I was accompanied by my dad. He had the breakfast roll and a milkshake and I had the banana pancakes and a diet coke and all of them were absolutely heavenly. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were prompt and very friendly, all wishing us a nice day when we left. We will definitely be returning!

I took one star away because of 20 min waiting time for a coffee and wasn’t busy plus coffee far to strong, Caesar salad lovely and girls behind the counter very friendly and polite…cabinets didn’t looks appealing to be honest (lunch time at 1:30pm and half empty?)

I recently visited Jamaica Blue and I have to say, the experience was nothing short of delightful. Have recently visited this lovely place. Amazing atmosphere & nice music made my day! We enjoyed with a great choice of food. I would like to come back another day for a dinner! Friendly and smiley staff, each detail is very thoughtful.

Staff are very attentive and polite. Coffee is good but the good, in particular the bagels, need better storage and prep. We gad to return 1 because it was dry. This was rapidly replaced and was better, but still not great.

The place is clean and bright. When we entered the guy behind the till didnt acknowledge us for about 5 minutes, had about 5 other staff members standing behind the till chatting. Ordered an eggs benedict and breakfast roll. They added on and charged us for a side on each meal that we didnt ask for but didnt notice until they brought the food out. Food was ok tasting but not worth the price and service wasnt great.

Friendly staff, superb cake especially the chocolate orange cake. Excellent coffee and earl grey tea.

Service was poor, drinks were delivered in silence with no eye contact. Porridge was inedible apart from the compote and flaked almonds, the rest was a bowl of dry stodge. Tried to feedback to staff but her English wasn't good and she didn't understand.

Dirty cups and tea pots, totally understand tea/coffee stains but was fresh tea/coffee which was easily cleaned just dirty as had a dried up tomato seed on the tea pot, I’m guessing they use a dish washer but should be checking before using. When I was at the tills I was ignored until someone in plain cloths ask someone to serve me, I understand if they are busy(only 10 people in the place), just me know they’ve seen me. Food was good, didn’t really get why I had the mountain of rocket .

Nice place for coffee and pancakes

The overall experience was okay. Food was nice,( I had a bacon roll) no butter in the roll, had to ask. Presentation poor. Would have been better on a smaller plate and a bit of colour to the garnish. So glad I had my cappuccino with a salted caramel shot . Otherwise it would have been like drinking hot milk. Over all not bad. But think with all the coffee shops in Eastbourne it could do with upping their game

Been here a few times today though. Most parts of the egg was not even white, still see through. Completely raw. The hash browns I actually mentioned weren’t cooked. 2 mins later they came back still pale but warmed up in the microwave. Staff friendly but food like this will start making people sick. It’s a health hazard. Will never go back. Sadly.

Have been three times now , never have had a good experience but somehow i keep getting dragged in by a friend . There are no price labels on the food and that's kind of outrageous given the cost of living and as a principle ... London prices are cheaper .You pay extra tax on your overall bill as well. And the place is often filled with smoke coming from the kitchen . Food is far from worth the price .For me it's a no .

Great service and amazing coffee but The big breakfast was almost inedible. Needed a chainsaw to cut the toast, bacon very undercooked, looked raw as was the hash brown. Mushrooms cremated. Poached eggs were nice and the sausage was okay. Not worth the £10 at all. Very disappointed and will not be purchasing this again. Why didn’t I complain in store? If I need to complain about this then they have it all wrong. They can see what they are serving and if they think this is an acceptable breakfast they need a new chef!

A sorry excuse for a Turkish egg, I have never been more dissatisfied and disappointed with a meal, for £10.60 it arrived looking like a school dinner with the ingredients chucked in the bowls, its not like any Turkish egg I’ve ever seen, then the staff were incredibly rude, unaccommodating and unprofessional when I asked for something else.

Just thought we’d try this place again after a very poor visit when it first opened but unfortunately the staff are still lacking in customer care and it’s still far too expensive. I ordered the American diner breakfast without tomatoes and an americano coffee ( I then had to ask for milk when it turned up as they just assume it’s black) and when the staff member brought the breakfast over it was not the right breakfast so I pointed this out and so she took it away only to come back with a receipt showing it was the breakfast that had gone through the till so it was what I ordered to which I pointed out that only meant the person on the till had put the wrong one through - I went to the till and got the same response and was told what I ordered which was not the case - after asking for a refund saying we would just leave the person on the till agreed to change the toast for a pancake as the breakfasts were the same - which they are not!! So not only is the customer not always right or even listened to the staff don’t know their menu at Jamaica Blue - so this is somewhere we won’t be going back to or recommending!

Horrendous service. One meal in our group didn't arrive and no apology given for getting the order wrong. They were very reluctant to accept they’d made a mistake and weren’t too keen on offering a refund for the missing meal. Didn’t even offer my coffee on the house as a goodwill gesture.

Terrible! Waited over 45 mins for food to be served. Told 5 more minutes, complained again after 10 minutes, told 1 more minute. Gave up and asked for refund after 5 more minutes. No apologies or expectation and unbelievably was deducted £6 from the refund for the 2 teas that we spread out over our 1 hour sit down. Will never go there again and will urge everyone I know to avoid.

Long story short. One of a few. I have worked in this place for a short time. One day at the opening, I wanted to top up the coffee grinder with coffee beans, but there was no more. Apparently a constant issue there. The manager - Sabrina L told me to just serve the decaf coffee instead. I refused to do that so that time customers were drinking Sainsbury's cheapest coffee instead of the "GREAT JAMAICA BLUE COFFEE". Amazing service! (I'm being sarcastic here). I'd say avoid this place unless you like to overpay and be lied to.

On 04/11 about 12-1pm. Assuming this is the shift manager as she wasn't in uniforms just a black shirt, black hair, maybe about 5'8. She is super rude. We came in to eat and was rude and dismissive at the counter. We also lost our pushchair strap cushion so rounded back to ask if anyone had it handed in and she looked at us and talked like we were dirt on her shoes. Not coming back soon thanks!! Horrible.

Just astoundingly bad. The two us went for the first time and both ordered the full English all-day breakfast(at £10.99 each). Asked for ketchup, no ketchup. Just brown sauce(a tiny bit in the smallest cup available!). Had to ask for tissues at the counter, she gave me two(for 2 people of course). And the worst part, both of us had loose motion pretty much as soon as we got back!! Not kidding, it cannot be worse than this. OMG!!

First time eating here and although a little pricey, the food and coffee was delish. Fresh food, excellent quality and the coffee was wow! Also don’t usually like cooked tomatoes with breakfast but the cherry on the vine cooked toms were great!!

Jamaica Blue in Eastbourne is great. I absolutely love their coffee; it's top-notch. The selection of pastries and cakes is a treat for the taste buds. We walked in just for a cuppa, then decided on a pastry. WOW!! Coffee was simply delicious. Was surprised with whipped cream and a warm pastry! We defo will be back!

I’m not even joking the blonde large lady and her colleagues were so racist. I’m south Asian Muslim and it took 30 mins for my food to come. They served everyone else except us and it was such appalling services. I’ve never had this experience ever. I’m fuming. If you are a person of colour do not go here. I really hope she understands how disgusting it is to still discriminate people of colour. Ended up getting a refund and explained the reason why she ended up saying “it is what it is” wish I could give zero stars

Located in the Beacon Mall, This place has been my go-to spot for delightful breakfast and brunch experiences. With its inviting ambiance, delectable menu, and exceptional service, this café has consistently exceeded my expectations, making it a must-visit destination for anyone in search of a memorable morning meal.

The Earl Grey tea doesn’t taste like Earl Grey at all, just tastes like ordinary tea. But it’s also the wrong colour (orangey) so maybe I just got given the wrong tea! The almond and orange cake has a nice flavour, but it is served refrigerated and is wet all the way through. So it’s a bit odd and not what I was expecting. Service was friendly though and it’s clean and relaxing.

Excellent avo smash for breakfast yesterday. Delicious iced tea. My father had the American Diner Special and a fantastic coffee. Definitely visiting again.

Jamaica Blue is located within a modern shopping mall in central Eastbourne town centre, surrounded by many shops, some independents and some chain shops. Jamaica Blue is a coffee shop with a twist, firstly the coffee is the famous renowned coffee originating from the beautiful island of Jamaica, the coffee is so so nice, just the right flavour, not to strong or bitter at all, to compliment the glorious coffee is various tasty snacks and cakes, most of the foods are available all day, so you can have a tasty breakfast at anytime of the day, my chosen choice was bacon and Brie with lemon flavoured muffin, my taste buds were and are very happy, delish and tasty it was , I look forward to trying something else on the menu.

Wasn't acknowledged by the staff as we entered, ordered a couple of bagels and mocha's. The mocha's tasted of nothing more then hot milk and although the bagls were ok, the dressing on the 'garnish' was bitty as if split

We went there for breakfast this morning. The service was less attentive than it could be. We both had the ‘big brekkie’ my partner didn’t want beans or eggs so replaced these with extra hash browns. The hash browns on both of our breakfasts were so under cooked they were’t edible. The bacon on both was undercooked (rare, but possibly edible, if you like it that way) the baked beans on mine were cold. The sourdough toast was lovely but didn’t come with any butter…. Not an issue for me as I had poached eggs on mine (perfectly poached) as my partner didn’t want eggs his toast was dry. The vine cherry tomatoes are a lovely touch, however, I had about 12 on my plate so I felt they were there more for decoration to make a poorly cooked breakfast look more ‘fancy’. The coffees were amazing tasting, however… I had a latte and he had a flat white… the difference was the cup/glass they were served in. Too much foam on both…. Essentially they were cappuccinos in different sized cups. We weren’t asked if we wanted sauces when the food was delivered to our table, I went to request them from the counter and the server when to get them in the kitchen but she was chatting to the chef for so long she forgot until she came back out and saw me still waiting there. I work in the town centre and have passed this place many times and have wanted to try it…. I’m left quite disappointed.

Food was of a very poor quality, the menu was misleading and inaccurate (stating butter when margarine was expected to be spread onto cold sourdough toast). A side order of mushroom at £1.60 consisted of one cold mushroom. This was our second visit to this establishment having given them a chance to improve following serving us a stack of RAW (but burnt!) pancakes on the last visit. We certainly won’t be returning again.

Luke warm coffee served. Coffee did not arrive with cake and had to ask for cake. When it arrived the cake had been toasted and was burned on one side. Low motivated staff. No gluten free options. Just not good enough.

I've eaten Eggs Bennie with bacon and spinach and I can say it was one of the best I ever ate. So delicious 😋

Nice food and coffee and lovely and friendly stuff, in particular Sabina or Sabrina and the waitress from Turkey that she was so lovely.

Very good food, good prices, good coffee, lots of easily accessible charging points, friendly staff. The only thing missing is free wifi. If they had this also, it'd be THE place to go.

A nice place to stop for a quick snack and they have a lot of choices for savoury and some lovely cakes. Clean and staff are very helpful and friendly. Sadly not many sweet vegan options, they used to have more but they never came back. The tea needs a little flavour, not sure of the brand. Have the milk alternatives which is good. Cake portion is huge and definitely makes up for the tea. Vegan brunch is a little pricy and doesn’t have enough on the plate to justify the price in my opinion.

This cafe located inside a shopping mall, and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. The cafe was bustling with customers, especially on the weekends, and it was clear to see why. The atmosphere was lively, with a great energy and a welcoming vibe that immediately put me at ease. The highlight of the cafe, for me, was the coffee. There were so many different options to choose from, and each one was expertly prepared and tasted delicious. Whether you're in the mood for a classic cappuccino or a specialty latte, this cafe has you covered. In addition to the great coffee, there were also plenty of other food and drink options available. Whether you're looking for a light snack or a full meal, the menu has something for everyone. And even though the cafe was fully booked on the weekends, the service was efficient and friendly, so I never felt rushed or neglected.

Coffee and food were great, the staff were extremely friendly. The toilets could benefit from a bit more attention but not awful.

Came to Jamaica Blue for brunch with my family. Service and food was great, the 4 different breakfasts we each chose were all nicely presented, hot, good sized portions, and most importantly tasted good. Drink costs seem a little on the high side, but overall we felt there was value for money.

Depressing. We love Blue Mountain coffee and that's the main reason we go but the staff morale was low and it showed. The food is overpriced for what you get and the staff don't seem to care what is sent out (burnt bagels, soaked in oil). It would be a shame to lose this establishment - something needs sorting quickly.

I've been here a handful of times before and if I'm honest I would have given it 5* but.... My most recent visit was shocking. I ordered a toasted sandwich and a coffee, I was having trouble with paying with contact less so I excused myself and asked them to hold my order until I had popped out front to get signal on my phone to check my banking app. Anyway I came back in and my coffee was still piping hot so I wasn't gone long. Probably about 1-2 minutes. When I came back and paid for my coffee and toastie I checked with the waitress behind the till who originally took my order that my toastie order had gone through. (I've worked in food establishments before and know kitchens hold food back if a situation arises like a payment doesn't go through) she assured me, without checking with kitchen that all was OK and my food was on the way. Around 60 mins later still no toastie and as I watched the server and on duty manager walk out I decided to ask the new waitress what's happening! She asked the kitchen staff and they came out and apologised and said the order got cancelled and asked if I still wanted it. I said yes please and asked for a take out. 2 mins later I was surprised to see my order being handed to me in a lovely cardboard takeaway box. I was very much hungry by this point and looking forward to my sandwich. But ohhhh no!!!!! So for their mess up I got my original sandwich "that they didn't get the order for" previously toasted brie and bacon over an hour old. Can you imagine melted cold brie and bacon sour dough toastie. Needless to say that went in the bin.

Not the best food experience. Ordered 2 breakfasts, both arrived cold with undercooked hash browns, undercooked sausage and the poached & fried eggs both over done. Also ordered kids pancakes which arrived with heavily bruised bananas, overcooked / burned pancakes and swimming / flowing over the plate in maple syrup. Coffee was okay, but nothing to write home about.

Blueberry pancakes had a total of five blueberries for 3 sturdy pancakes. Not light and fluffy. 3 workers including chef. Certainly not enough to make it efficient.

Coffee is very good, much nicer than the big chain brands and some of the local cafes as well. Only had a crossiont so cannot comment on the food as such but what I saw looked very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful and it's very clean.

No Wi-fi and signal very weak, coffee (Americano) reasonable, sourdough sandwich skimpy filling, no prices displayed on or under the counter, not clearly in the menu either. With the choice of coffee shops around my husband and I won’t use it again.

Such an overpriced place, we visited for a quick bite to eat and spent nearly £50 pounds, they didn't put our order through properly so had to wait for Half our lunch, then it was cold they just stuck it in a microwave and gave it back, still cold. Staff were heard swearing and muttering under there breath about other customers this is not a nice place to eat... Which is a shame because the shop itself is very nice

Nearly £5 for the worst ice coffee I’ve ever tasted. I asked for extra milk to be added when they gave it to me because it tasted like dish water and it was returned no different

My breakfast was close but not quite there. Eggs were overcooked and dry, bacon was a bit undercooked, hash browns weren't crispy. Mushrooms were pretty awful and watery. Nice bread and sausages. A couple of small tweaks and this would have been good. Coffee was OK.

Overpriced, £4.10 coffee and £8.00 for a bagel. I wonder why it was empty !

Awful. Rude staff and made to feel awkward when I enquired about gluten free items on the menu, so ended up having no food. When I checked on their online allergen menu later, they did have suitable items so more training round intolerances/allergies needed. Daughter was served the wrong drink. Waited 35 minutes for her food which was also wrong. Then had to wait ages for the correct order to be brought out. Noticed another table also had an issue with their food. Only one apologetic staff member, the rest were awful.

Came in for a quick bite, only ordered scrambled egg on toast. Finished the coffee before the food arrived (had to remind them I had ordered food), scrambled eggs were way overcooked, butter was serve on the side, so to butter the bread had to scrap off the eggs, they could have asked if I wanted the bread buttered I would have thought. Overall the whole thing was dry and disappointing. Didnt even offer sauce. Shame really looks like a nice place.
