Jaflong Curry in Stoke-on-Trent

Being going here since I was around 12, now just about to hit 31. Mine and my now husband had our first real date here, and our wedding meal. The food is always amazing and the staff are too. Particularly the manger. They have always been amazing with my autistic brother too. I cannot say enough good things about it here. Thought it was time I did a little review.

This place is spot on good food, excellent staff,used it for years been to others around the area but they cannot compare,looking forward to my tea tonight now

Poor service, uninterested staff, rude manager, watery curry sauce and chicken, dated surroundings, minimal prawns in prawn cocktail. Give it a miss folks.

URGENT! Birthday party tonight 28th Jun big table us. The 2 people group had been overcharged. Please refund the overcharge asap! I am agitated and concerned regarding the service for our next big party with Jaflong! Lamb Biryani × 2 £21.80 Cheese Nan × 2 £9.00 Fruit cider x 1 £4.50 ( £4 something) Subtotal £35.30 We have been charged £40 (£40 something for no reason). What a great find this restaurant was. In town for an event at the Victoria Hall. We parked up, found the theatre, and went to find food. Eschewing the main street as it was full of hen parties and stag parties, we went to the far side of the bus station, and found Jaflong. The service is quick, efficient, friendly and not at all pushy. The food is delicious and plentiful, the premises clean and it is extremely convenient for the Victoria Hall.

It's our go to curry house, it's local, we love the food, it never disappoints!! Friendly staff, great prices! Highly recommended

Top curry house in stoke and brilliant people and excellent food ,have used this place for years been to others occasionally but always felt let down,don't know why I bothered with elsewhere

food not good contained peppers which i have an allergy to complained they said we allways cook it with peppers .. supposed to have been medium strength my wife said we have had hotter kormas as for the chipss more like potatoe wedges .. didnt care about my dietairy needs no refund offered i told them NEVER AGAIN .. MY WIFE ATE MY FOOD..AS WE HAD PAID FOR IT.... PORTION SIZES SMALL

Booked this the night before we went. No need as the place was almost empty. Thought we'd try it having not been for years and the place had been refurbished. The food was very pleasant. Unfortunately, the restaurant was very cold despite one or two freestanding heaters dotted about. We had a radiator at the end of our table but were still cold. Service was not attentive. Had to ask for the bill. Were not offered desserts or coffee. Not the best experience. Also, it's noted that the owner never replies to any reviews. Why not? Obviously not bothered about repeat business as no staff made any effort to chat to us whatsoever. Sadly, won't be returning. Much better elsewhere. Pity as the food was enjoyable.

The one thing this place requires is competition. Complacency has definitely set in here as there's no other Indian restaurant in close proximity to give them the reality check they so badly need. Other towns within the local area are blessed with various choices and competition is fierce. Sadly the jaflong is on its own and suffers for this. It's a no from me.

Visited with my family for a birthday treat. The food and the service were absolutely amazing. We were made feel very welcome. It was a little cold in the restaurant which was a shame , but it certainly didn't spoil the night

A good meal with good service and great value. The booking was a party and this can cause a restaurant problems. Not here.

They do a real nice Curry at this restaurant, friendly and with good service. Nice decor, but not over the top. Seems clean and tidy enough, so you wouldn't be worried about taking there for a meal here and the price is about right. Lots of seating, yet not right on top of each other so you can have a nice meal in a relaxed atmosphere. A place that's handy to get to, with Hanley bus station just across the road and taxis a little further down, if your having a drink. Very pleasant meal.

Always a delicious meal here . I had the chicken pakora starter , lamb dhansak , pilau rice , chips and nan bread was awesome with friendly staff

Went to this place some time ago with a friend I had nan bread with chicken tikka masala and rice and a indian pale ale the service was brilliant food was great but now I'm disabled I'm unable to go in on my powerchair like most places they don't cater for disabled people so I don't shop places that dont care about disabled access and they don't get my money it's a shame because the food is lovely jaflong please get disabled access there human and like to eat food like none disabled ppl you can get a grant from the council towards disabled access so I've been told

Absolutely love the food at Jaflong! They always make me a hot butter chicken to remind of my time in India and it never disappoints 😋 Travelling for work I’m eaten at more curry houses across the UK than I’d care to remember but Jaflong always comes out on top. Probably the best ever curry I've had in many a year, friendly attentive staff great service, A little cold in there just two little oscillating heaters but the curry soon warmed me up.but it was about 5 degrees outside,will definitely be retuning.

We have eaten here for a number of years with my parents. Tonight we visted after they have have been closed for a full kitchen refurbish (due to its age) and freshly decorated. This was my second visit to this restaurant, the food both times has been outstanding and the staff and management really friendly. Last night I was the only one in on a cold and rainy January midweek evening, the welcome was warm and genuine and the food excellent, at very reasonable prices. I will be back thank you.

Tried to ring all day to book a table. No answer. Turned up at 5.30pm and tried the door and it was locked. Called and someone answered so i asked to place an order for collection. No one in there and definately the first person to get through and they told me it would be a half an hour wait. I don't mind the wait but not when there's literally no one about and it doesn't take that long to make as all base sauces etc are pre made. Not sure how you can book a table if you can't get in contact before 5.30 pm obviously not busy if they can just accept all booking 10 mins before you arrive. At half past 5 I tried knocking on and ringing no answer straight away. The waiter wearing the white shirt was also smoking out the back (probably why I couldn't get in). In the local newspaper The Sentinel it lists the restaurants and takeaways with JUST 1 star hygiene rating. After a bit of a hiatus, i went to the Jaflong and was really disappointed with the quality of the curry and starters. The Onion bhajis had barely any filling in them and all curries were watered down, not a thick gravy like curries should be, also seem to be less spices used. Is this a sign of the times with the cost of living crisis? The chips are still very nice though. They used to give you free poppadom's and sauces, that's not the case anymore, shame. I will not be back

We found this place after a show at Victoria hall and wow we’re so glad we did, it’s a little gem. The staff were lovely, excellent service. The food was amazing and great value. Definitely recommend and we’ll be back soon.

Been going here for years. Hands down best Indian food I’ve ever had. As a contractor I’ve eaten Indian food in almost every corner of this country and food wise it’s unrivalled. I always get the tandoori mixed balti.

I ordered the chilli chicken karela and vegetable rice. My order was ready in 15 minutes. It was well spiced and good sized portions. I was given a free papadum and onion pickle. I will visit again as good value and friendly service.

Stumbled across this place after a show at the Victoria Hall, seriously, the best meal I've ever had, chicken tikka madras which I've eaten in countless restaurants and this one was top drawer!!! Don't be put off by it's dated exterior/interior, its all about the quality of the food here!!!! Definitely visiting again next time I'm in stoke!

Ordered a take out for our anniversary of korma ,rogan josh nan breads rice ect and my word what a delight it was with the poppadoms and sides (which were free) Amazing quality and great staff.

Just had our first takeaway from here, and it was fantastic and will definitely be going back, might even try sitting in.

Simply a great place to have a curry with friends.

Don't be put off by the less than flashy apperance. Although, not the most extensive menu, the food and service are excellent. Great value for money, probably one of the best curries we've had in a long time. Both have travelled widely in Asia and tasted a fair amount of curry on the way! Naan breads were light, fluffy and fresh. Excellent chunky chips. Biriyani was great, as was the special korai. Cannot recommend enough and we will definitely be back!

Been dining here for years. Food is always tasty and well presented. The manager/co-owner is the nicest, friendliest guy, nothing is too much trouble. The staff are very attentive, excellent customer service and interaction. I love this place. Go for a beer next door too. Best two places in Hanley.

Always choose this restaurant when we visit Stoke. It's great. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly and very importantly do not 'hover' whilst you are eating your meal. The food is very tasty and the portions are not too large but not too small, just right The naan breads are lovely. The draught beer is Cobra but there are others to choose from. The place has been nicely re- decorated. We have never waited too long for our meal and the wait after ordering is just about right. Definitely highly recommended. By the way, it is situated right next door to a well known real ale pub!

The service and food here are very good. The menu is typical, though there could have been more vegetarian options.

The food was good and so was the service. The tandoori mixed grill was good but not amazing. The tandoori chicken was overcooked but the rest quite good. The curry (special) was nice and so was the fried rice. I liked the staff / owners and the service was good. Really cheap but for the price great. Very old fashioned inside and needs a good clean or some TLC but food is good and really good prices.

Can’t understand how some have written a good review for this. The restaurant is very outdated and worn. Dirty sticky carpets and dark woodwork, tablecloths old and stained/ filthy. Only went there once, never again. I did wonder if they had ever had a hygiene inspection due to the inside being so dirty. Terrible place. The food wasn’t good value. Myself and partner ordered chicken curries, and we both got 7 small cubes of chicken, I presume the chicken had been frozen and cut into cubes. The prices were much higher than I had expected given the standard of the decor inside and out as well as the old cutlery, seating etc. This place needs gutting, a good clean out and starting again. Plus a new music player as the 70’s cd they had on kept sticking at a certain point and I ended up asking them to switch it off. Won’t be going again. Save your money for somewhere else.

After sitting down and the couple on the table making a fuss about their food being cold and leaving the restaurant we were a bit worried, but the staff handled the disgruntled customers well and I’m happy to say we had a fantastic meal! Good fast service, friendly staff and tasty food made to your spice liking.

Best curry house in Stoke on Trent!!

I cannot explain how dirty it was on arrival, you have to go through 2 doors to get in and once your in for some reason the inside looked like the outside! Dirt and leaves all over the floor welcome you on your arrival as well as an old dirty fish tank with its lights off no bubbles and I can only assume the fish killed themselves to end their misery. -about 30 empty dirty glasses all over the bar whilst the guy makes new drinks amongst the old dirty ones, there is a giant Micky mouse toy covered in dust on top of a fridge for some reason? They do not display there food hygiene rating on the door as they should and when we checked it was a 2!! No thanks I like to eat my food without having violent diarrhoea afterwards, we walked out and the guy chased us saying our table was ready, we told him it was filthy in there and he shut the door on us! 0/10 wouldn’t recommend it to an enemy. (Ordering fish from the menu I can only assume is from the fish who perished in the tank)

Terrible decor and cleanliness. Dust everywhere and carpet sticky underfoot. Probably hadn’t been decorated for 30 years. Food was ok, not the best but ok. Staff were engaging.

My husband has been coming here for 10 years due to working away in Stoke-on-Trent. He has been trying to get me here for years. We were in North Wales and decided to to a detour to Jaflong.Look past the decor as it does need a refurbishment however I believe they have been unsure what is happening with the actual building for sometime now.The good and service was outstanding. The curry was amazing, really was the best I have had!

I have noticed some reviews have said its 'authentic'...well having been to India a couple of times its certainly not 'authentic'...I'd say its ok....the British don't really know what curry is supposed to taste like...its ok, but just ok...
