Jacques in Glasgow City

I stumbled across this restaurant walking back from Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and University of Glasgow. I had the £6.50 lunch special, choosing the Jacques Monsiour (Croque Monsiour). I was so impressed with the quality of this sandwich. It was delicious, fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed the side salad and coleslaw too! The service was lovely also and as I attended solo, the guy was lovely enough to seat me in my own area to the side which felt very private and relaxing after a long morning of sight seeing! Food, value for money and service were all amazing. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate going again!

Went last night for my birthday. Hadn't been here before. There were 2 of us. Firstly it was very cold, not a pleasant to place to sit and eat or even to have just a drink, we had to keep our coats on throughout. We ordered the peri-peri chicken wings and the pea and saffron arancini, both were not good. The arancini was tasteless and the chicken wings were done in a breadcrumb which was soggy and the chicken blueberry. The mains were a full pot of mussels with soda bread and chips, and chicken in a bun. The mussels were way overcooked and the soda bread doughy. The chicken had obviously been cooked then reheated so it was DRY and for 10 quid you don't expect reheated chicken. Overall it was one of the worst meals in a long time and we passed on pudding or desert and it still came to £48. It's always telling when it's obvious when the server doesn't ask why you have left most of your meal. The next day we both felt a bit icky so I wont be returning to Jacques and I wouldn't recommend to anyone else.

Tuvimos una excelente comida en Jacques: dos personas, tres platos, un cóctel y un refresco para 60 personas con propina incluida, lo cual es de gran valor. Nos informaron que la mesa debía ser devuelta después de 1 1/2 horas en la reserva, pero este era un tiempo de deambulación y el personal era increíble, especialmente con los requisitos dietéticos. Definitivamente volveremos :)

Buena atmósfera. . . justo hasta el punto en que el portero / la gerencia lo echan una hora antes de que se suponga que cierren. Tienen en su sitio web que está abierto hasta la 1 am los viernes y sábados: dos veces he estado aquí, una vez un viernes y otra un sábado, y dos veces nos han echado, ¡abruptamente antes de las 12 am! Cuando le preguntamos al gerente y al portero acerca de cómo los horarios de apertura en línea no reflejan cuándo realmente cerraron, simplemente dijeron 'decidimos cuándo cerramos' y luego procedieron a echarnos. No se ofrecieron "disculpas" y no hubo más explicaciones. Dos veces, mis amigos y yo hemos hecho planes para venir aquí debido a su horario de apertura, y dos veces nos hemos arrepentido de la decisión y nos mudamos a Kelvingrove Cafe (que en realidad están abiertos hasta uno como dicen). Muy decepcionante. No volveremos aquí. Evita si quieres estar en casa después de las 12. 15 am!

Visité aquí el mes pasado para un cumpleaños de amigos. Cenamos primero antes de trasladarnos a la zona de "copas de los árboles" para tomar bebidas donde más personas se unían a nosotros. El servicio fue excelente, siempre nos registramos para ver cómo estaba la comida y si necesitábamos más bebidas. Todos quedaron satisfechos con lo que pidieron y, en particular, mi amiga disfrutó mucho su tarta de tomate y albahaca y el queso de macarrones que tuve fue el mejor que he probado, totalmente increíble. El resto de la noche fue brillante y todos se sirvieron rápidamente para tomar una copa. Gran lugar con gran ambiente y entorno (me encantan las luces de hadas). Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta.

I received a voucher for a chocolate fondant so I booked a table. We ended up having a dinner as well. The ambient is very nice and relaxing. The menue is a little bit confusing to follow and the plate of food for 2 to share was more tgen enough for two people so dont order a side too. Service is hard to be seen even though the place was half empty you have to go to the bar to get attention. You are left on your own... chocolate fondant nothing special at all...

Food was good, service ok its the layout at atmosphere that lets Jacques down. Seats not comfortable and a small table for 2. Went on an itison deal, and would go with that again, but would skip the house wine deal.

The starter was nice, a little cheese fondue and melted brie. The main was one of the most bland pasta dishes I've ever had. Fire alarm went off and place filled with smoke which made for a noisy evening meal. Didn't know whether to stay or leave and staff didn't seem too concerned with the smoke or the noise. Not a patch on brel for food or atmosphere but a nice space to sit in I guess if you were there for drinks?

We had an amazing experience here. Sonia behind the bar recommended some cocktails and they were so good we each ordered another 3. All of the staff behind the bar were so friendly and nice, atmosphere was great and we had such a good time. Staff really made this experience amazing so thank you!

First things first - they need to get rid of that wooden reception pod facing the front door. All it seems to accommodate is a laptop! The floor space is completely wasted and makes the layout seem awkward as a consequence. I'd imagine it also deters walk-ins as it creates the perception of it being a barrier to entry. It's nice enough for a drink but the cost of said drinks put us off eating here. £8.40 for a double G&T (leaving aside the wine prices) is very cheeky. Service was a lottery too. Food looked decent from what I could see but this place has a bit of an identity crisis and I don't think I'd choose it over the competition.

Came here with my boyfriend last night to celebrate his birthday. Was a bit nervous about coming after seeing mixed reviews but we were both pleasantly surprised! Lovely place inside and a really good atmosphere we ended up staying after dinner for drinks. All the staff were really friendly especially the girl who was serving us. She was very helpful with giving information about the menu. I ordered the potato rosti with poached egg and avocado for starters and the meat fondue which was so so tasty I would get this again! My boyfriend ordered baked camembert with walnuts and honey which I was very jealous of! And he said his burger was great. I will be coming back for my dads birthday just a really good restaurant!

This bar/restaurant is good either for a drink or for a meal. It has a pleasant and interesting ambience, although the background music is on the loud side. There was good vegetarian choice, and the food was attractively presented. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and keen to enquire about whether everything was OK. Highly recommended.
