£5.75 for a sausage egg sandwich and is was foul, so much so that I came in here to to give it a review which I never do. Cheap sausages cheap eggs and cheap bread for a ridiculous price.

Just tried a takeaway beef Sunday lunch, the best I have had locally, I would recommend it , its lovely home cooking.

This might be the best café in Hull. From the moment you enter you're made to feel welcome as you're greeted by enthusiastic, well mannered staff. The All Day Big Breakfast delivers as the name suggests and their latte was of great standard too. Fried bread and black pudding were things I hadn't had in a while and they were tasty! I noticed they serve alcohol too and fancied the thought of spending the whole day here drinking myself into a really comfortable, accommodated coma but I resisted the temptation. The bakery goods look a treat too and they appeared popular with other customers.

We made our first visit today, I only had a bacon sandwich which was very tasty, my partner had a rocky road which she struggled to finish as it was a generous portion. As for drinks I chose a bottle of old peculiar, which was very nice, and my partner had a soft drink.it would have been very easy to relax in the comfortable surroundings for the remainder of the day.

We booked Sunday lunch for 3 adults and 1 child on my daughter’s birthday. We had been previously (pre Covid) and had an excellent meal. On this occasion we had the place to ourselves which was nice for us! My husband ordered steak pie and the rest of us had the roast beef. The food was lovely, the beef tender and succulent. There was a great selection of vegetables, mashed and roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding. It was all very tasty. My granddaughter had a great time, the staff were great with her and she earned a lolly for eating so much! We were all too full for pudding. It was good value for money. My only niggle was the toilet! The lock kept sticking and we all got locked in at different points. The hand soap was empty and the towel was wet and felt like it had been hung there for ages...

Well never been before but we'll worth a visit nice coffee friendly staff and the butty was nice plenty to choose from .Will go againe

Stopped by this afternoon as the missus had rang us to say our oven had packed up, as it was getting on they had ran out of a lot of ingredients, the owner said he could do us two mince steak dinners to take out if I could pop back in 30 minutes, some guy sat a table was halfway through his and said its delicious, so I went for it and glad I did it was absolutely delicious, we definitely be going back for more

Popped in for the first time today Sunday and was asked if we'd booked a table, we hadn't as only wanted drinks and cake but they made room for us and we ended up staying for food. Staff were lovely and welcoming and drinks nice and tasty and the food, well comfort food at it's best ( bangers and mash today ) and looking at the menu there is lots more to try 😁 well worth a visit.

Delicious coffee and cheese and bacon flaky turnover. Fish pie with mushy peas on lunch menu today. Must try and catch it soon! Great friendly service too.

Ordered sandwich and coffee, received sandwich but no coffee, owner took my order was then sat outside eating his lunch. When I asked for refund due to not receiving coffee, no apology, probably just in a rush to take care of himself. Very poor and rude customer service

We cannot thank the staff at Jacques enough! Not only was the food and coffee excellent , the staff were exceptional. We visited today with my father who is unwell and can be very challenging and unpredictable at times. Not his fault but some people struggle to cope . The staff at Jacques just took it all in their stride and continued to be professional, calm, nothing too much trouble. You are amazing, huge thank you😁

Visited with my friend. We was not aware of how they was running so we went in side to order & one rude member of start kept repeating that most tables were booked. We said we would like to sit outside anyways., still not very friendly. They gave us a menu & we went outside to sit & look at what we wanted. I went back in to order & at this point someone else came in & the staff member was shouting to the other one again about tables been booked & they are booked for a reason.. I order which was a bacon & mushroom for my friend & an egg & mushroom for me. We was not asked if we would like any sauces. We asked when the food was brought out. We was not waiting long & has a buttie goes they was ok. We was sat just outside the door & in the time we was sat there & good 1.5 no one sat at the reserved seats. We have visited for a 2nd time & the lady who served us this time was much more friendly but I think that is because we had a baby with us the 2nd time & she kept coming over to talk about the baby. Not sure how I would feel about going for something more expensive with this sort of service.

Discriminate against medically exempt! Apparently they don't have to follow the law like everyone else and place a blanket ban on non mask wearers even though i could provide her an exemption certificate that wasn't good enough, really need to brush up on customer service and the LAW, which states If a business refuses to serve a customer on discriminatory grounds, it is illegal.

A great place to eat or have a coffee. The breakfasts are brilliant. The staff are really helpful and friendly. It is spotlessly clean, and great value!

I have been a customer for almost 15 years now and a favourite place of mine for a hot sandwich and a latte. Food is a tad on the expensive side, but the quality is great so can't grumble. I've always liked the décor of the shop and the staff are always friendly and up for a chat and a bit of banter. Highly recommend.

Quite pleasant clean place to eat snacks really but nice

Have just received the worst customer service possible having received a breakfast that was inedible. Burnt bacon and beans that tasted of vinegar. Burnt tea cake swimming in butter. Having asked the staff no replacement was offered just full payment demanded. Will not be visiting again. Seems to have gone downhill rapidly, dirty and dusty, Very disappointing.

Just eaten at Jacques for the first time and will definitely be back, what a lovely little place. Both the staff on today we're very friendly and the gentleman there was brilliant with my kids, making jokes and giving them a lolly for afters. Food was brilliant, reasonably priced and decent portions. no negatives at all. thank you.

I love the food hear and staff have always been very welcoming and polite what I would say check the order is complete before giving out because ive had on 4 separate times wear ive ordered a brealfast wrap amd half is missing my last only had a sausage,slice of bacon and beans.

I pre-booked a Friday lunchtime (12:00) table outside on what turned out to be the hottest day in July. It is a breezy corner and there is a sun canopy so no chance of getting sun-burn.I had to go in to get menus as they were not brought out to us. My friend and I made our choices from the menu and I went in to order. Sadly there were no paninis left and also the quiche was sold out so it was back to the drawing board! Eventually we ordered a wrap and a sandwich, pot of tea to share and a portion for salt & pepper wedges to share. The food was all tasty and enjoyable and the total bill just under £14 so good value for money.I would have given full marks if our first choices had been available. I feel that a Friday lunchtime should have full stock!We will probably return, mostly because you can sit outside.

Popped in as needed a place to rest my weary bones while my car was being valeted. I intended to have a coffee but proceeded to order the full english breakfast. What a taste sensation. Like a party in my mouth. Cooked perfectly and every mouthful was perfection. I will definitely be back here to sample more of the delicious food. The restaurant owner was so friendly and was happy for me to take up residence while my car was being pampered. I left this establishment feeling thoroughly pampered myself. EVERBODY I know will be hearing about JACQUES.

Food was nice but once again staff weren't too happy. It's actually putting me off going back. Personally I think they prefer customers who are child free and even though I no longer have a child who needs a pram they do not allow prams inside. I get the impression they want a more elite kind of customer....but they are not in an elite area??

Just popped in for an "unlock" breakfast and we were seated together with plenty of distance.... felt safe and the food was its usual excellent quality !! Highly recommended !! Previous review below Always freindly with a good selection of home cooked quality food

Twice in the past two weeks we have been in and were herded into the back room. The tables in the front were reserved 'just in case a group came in'. Last week female staff allowed us to sit in the front. In the hour we were there two people came in both to take food away. Yesterday we walked out and went to another cafe. Wont be back.

Ok, so looking for a greasy spoon on Google but nothing came up that hit my taste buds. After living in the area 15 years ago, I remember a corner cafe on the side of my street.... jacques!! On anlaby road..I've got to say top quality breakfast and fresh coffee, all made up of the kind of quality ingredients youd expect in some hotels.service and food second to none. Definitely will be back again..

Iv visited here several times .but today myself and daughter went .the food she ordered arrived not looking fully cooked .I returned it ask if they could cooked a bit more as sloppy in the middle .it came back floating around the edges in butter.my daughter couldn't eat it. As she is vegan /vegetarian. I'm not but I couldn't of eaten it either .when my daughter complained .was rudley spoke to .with a the wrong attitude and blaitinly told."WE DON'T DO VEGIES /VEGAN".I was was speechless. My daughter paid for the food and left ...there is nowhere staiting they don't do veggies or vegans. Appauling unprofessional attitude .

went put for lunch rude staff.ask for a omlette wasnt cooked all sloppy.took it back it was cooked in butter i said i couldnt eat it for my diet as i cant have oil.so i didnt eat any of it .still was chargered.she also said they dont have veggies in the cafe nothing in the kichen is sutable for a veggie .we wont be going again .use to be a nice place to eat didnt take long for it to change

Visited Jacques for our first time invited by my daughter who has eaten their on many occasions found thd place a cosy setting and the chap who waited on us was very jolly making us feel very welcome. Their was a menu with a wide list of meals very tasty indeed also deserts and served served a smile also a choice of drinks from tea and coffee to light refreshments and alcohol beveridges Will deffently be visiting again real soon

I went here last week for the first time, shall I just say it will be the last,I went with my daughter for a sandwich and coffee, sat at a table, it was very quiet, a group of ladies were eating at the next table and there were a couple sat at the front, we choose what we wanted and sat about 5 mins at the table so I went to the counter were I presume it was the owner, turned and told me that he would be with me in a moment as it was table service, waited another 5 minutes while he potted around , he then picked up a pad and pen and was just coming around the counter when the ladies from the next table got up and he promply put down the pad and pen and asked if they were ready to pay, he then asked what they had as he said he had,nt taken their order, all in all this took several minutes, he then continued to talk to them , which is nice of him but very rude to us, he then went into the back and spoke to a member , sorry to say we got up to leave, lost 2 customers won,t be back

We visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning with our daughter and 4 year old granddaughter. My daughter has been before a few times since moving just around the corner and recommended it. We sat in the deli part of the shop/restaurant as it was light and airy and had a large table to accommodate us. Our granddaughter was fascinated by the cakes and HUGE block of cheese in the chiller cabinet.My husband had the full English breakfast with black pudding and the rest of us had a sausage sandwich with/without different sauces and also tea, coffees and a fruit shoot. All were well presented, tasty and reasonably priced. The total bill was about £20. The staff were all friendly. We will definitely return, possibly for Sunday Lunch next time with the rest of the family.

Came here for a light lunch with my husband. Sandwich was extremely poorly presented. Practically thrown on the table. Also the cappuccino was not good at all. Lots of lessons to be learned.

Whenever i have my car cleaned i make a point of popping to Jacques for elevenses.It might ne just a sausgae roll and a coffee of the proverbial full English. Very obliging staff, even the main man himself who can be a tad gruff but the food is excellent, coffee good and very good value.

Proper Sunday dinner, home made roasties n Yorkshire's fresh vegetables (4) Great service, lovely place. Great choice of drinks. Will be back.

Had 30 minutes to kill so popped in for a coffee and breakfast. Very good service and quality food and drink in very comfortable surroundings. Staff very amenable so well worth a visit if you are in the area.

First time we have come here for a while. Good quality food at reasonable prices. We just had a light night but roast Sunday lunches looked great. Will have to try some other time. A very pleasant place to eat. Will be back.

Good hot sandwiches i.e sausagemeat, mushroom and chestnut stuffing burger with melted cheese and crispy bacon if wanted in a large warm soft bread cake. Coffee is nice and hot with a rich flavour. Definitely worth going. Hot meals are also available which are worth the money.

Excellent service and excellent home cooked food

I found the cafe not baby friendly, no baby changing area- I was told to put my baby on the toilet floor even though there's barely any room so I wouldn't be able to even shut the door to do so let alone laying my baby at the base of the toilet.. Ew. I was also told I couldn't sit through the back due to lack of space but it seemed more spacious than the area I was allowed to sit in. They did cool the baby milk for me though so swings and roundabouts 😂 I felt like an inconvenience.

A little local Bistro, very good food, family owned. Only downside is how full you feel after their generous meal.

Service is very poor. Cant even be bothered to warm a sausage roll up. When purchasing the sausage rolls I kindly asked if I can have them warm and the response was that you where too busy. Not the customer service you expect for those prices. As the customer who only came in once that day i can promise you that I did ask for it to be warm. Again lovely service. What's that saying. Customers are always right.

Second time visiting Jacque’s and it’s an absolute delight. The food is all home made, the service is great and the prices are right. The owner of the Café is a great character and makes you feel more than welcome soon as you arrive. I reccomend you give this place a try.
