Jaconelli's Chip Shop in Glasgow City

Food was shocking, long hair in pizza crunch and woman on the phone was very rude. Would never go back complete waste of money.

Ordered a chicken supper, half way through eating it noticed it was still raw and blood juices coming from it, phoned the chippy and the lady said they don’t actually cook the chickens in the shop just fry them, and sometimes a chicken leg can be pinky with bruised blood & just stick it in the microwave for a few minutes.

Surely it’s not the same owners? Went for the famous HomeMade Steak Pie tonight & Chips. Genuinely wasn’t the greatest big huge chunks of meat - not even tried to cut them. The pastry was flat and over cooked. Chippy chips well their hard to get wrong but just didn’t taste the same as it used to. Also one of the worst service I’ve had off the girl, not sure of her name dark hair with very unique eyes. I had to tell her my order 4 times and still got it wrong each time, she was uninterested and just not nice to deal with. Even the lady serving beside her with the colours through her hair could see I was frustrated with her. Won’t be back in a hurry, Also the prices have fair shot up in the last 18 months too.

We’ve been coming here forever but the last few visits and meals have fallen way below our usual expectations. All of the previous hard working “serving” girls are gone and the ones there now don’t seem to have a clue how to work the counter especially when it gets busy and it simply comes across as organised chaos. A recent home made steak pie supper was cross contaminated because it was served using the same spoon from the curry sauce pot and we were only given a meagre portion of stew-hardly justifying the considerable price. Allowing for your apparent newish staff member’s inexperience,I returned a few nights later and to our further dismay our hamburger and ashet pie suppers had a “minted” taste to everything which spoiled our meal which I can only attribute to the cooking oil used. Combine this with having to wait on chips being cooked on nearly every visit adding further annoying delays even when it’s quiet,means we will now spend our money elsewhere irrespective of distance. In actual fact it could be a very long time before we have a chippie anywhere as we have been THAT scunnered with the hit and miss food quality and service in here lately. Sorry Paul and Beth,standards have slipped considerably in recent times and complacency WILL lose you local,loyal customers. Your dearly missed and highly respected late father would have expected much better too.

Not sure but I think the lovely man gave me, when l asked, as he saw l had a friend with me but l only ordered 1 fish supper.! Here's the thing, do you get two fish in a'fish supper' or, considering that it was closing time, and the staff were all prepping to finish and clean up???!! I think it was very kind of the guy. I think it is a family owned business. Very kind, thank you!!!

Haggis fritters tremendous patter . Chips and gravey still the same from when a used to go as a kid ,but the steak pie was terrible patter cause been sitting for a while,

What was once a beautiful food is now expensive which is strange given the quality has lowered so hard. Once had beautiful small battered sausages and changed to big fat tasteless ones just to save a few quid. I don't know if they're using cheaper oil but the chip onwards just taste greasy and rank. Used to have a fine selection of homemade ice cream which was the envy of local areas. Shut at 10pm or earlier now because the customers are not willing to pay the bigger prices for meals that are 10% on what they used to be

Had pizza crunch before which was nice ,it’s not healthy but now and again it’s ok. Today was a disappointment,the pizza was so overcooked that the batter was hard and the edges of pizza hard and chewy. Curry sauce was unpleasant as it had been watered down so much. Hungry I ate half,the rest went in the bin.

This experience is from me Xingzi li I'm just writing about this chip shop I just love the fish and chips in this place and the pizza crunch also I love the sausage supper and I also love the macaroni and cheese I'm coming here in the future to try the food and fish and chips in this place and I'm coming here in the future is my favourite chip shop this is and this is from me Xingzi li supporting the lgbt community

Got a delivery 20 mins ago, food absolutely rotten. 1st time ive got delivery from this shop..never again !

Great wee gem of a chip shop right at the end of my road. It's always busy so if you drive there you might have a job parking. But if you have to park a wee bit a way it's worth the walk.

Ordered Fish and chips , the fish is not Haddock but cheap Whiting , not much fish actually inside the batter and the two portions were small , expensive £9.99 for fish supper that tastes average also the Fish was not cooked to order the fish was lying already cooked in the Range so I don't know how long it was lying, One more thing the young lady who asked if I wanted salt and vinegar touched the chips with her fingers picking out small chip clippings.

They forgot the cheese in all the things we ordered :(

Large chippy style shop with lots of options and great food. Tried to order a couple of the baked potato options from the menu to be told they no longer sell them so got just cheese and coleslaw which was lovely but would have liked some protein in my meal. The fried options we brought home were enjoyed by everyone, a fish supper and 2 sausage suppers. All freshly cooked and delicious. Seems a very busy and well loved chippy.

I have used your shop on many occasions, and compared to other Chip Shops, Jaconellis is simply the best. Excellent service, and your food is cooked, and tastes, excellent. Really pleased with the Single Hamburger, freshly made, quite superb.

Excellent fish and chips shop! The batter was perfectly crispy, and the fish was flaky and fresh. The portion size was generous, and the chips were golden and delicious. Quick service and friendly staff. Definitely my go-to spot for a satisfying fish and chips craving!

Was in here 30 mins ago got served by a woman with pink streaky hair look down on me when asked for food even got one item wrong asked for chips cheese and curry only gave me chips and curry NOT A HAPPY CHAP won’t be back 🤬🤬🤬

Got a fish supper from them which was ok but I broke the fish apart and inspected it in detail and I found it to be a whiting fish which is cheaper than haddock and imo and the majority of peoples opinion is not as good as haddock.Cone on jaconelli you have been in the business for years start serving haddock,instead of cheap as chips whiting

This place has gone down hill in recent months.Ordered fish n chips on three separate occasions just to make sure it wasn't an off day,and on each occasion the fish was not fresh.The famous steak pie has also become sub standard, seems to me they have cut corners on quality during this cost of living crisis ,I'm so disappointed as i loved and raved about this place,but no more,its now a place to avoid and i will spread the word.

THE WORST, the WORST veg burger I had in my whole life. The burger has nothing. Nothing in between, not even a little sauce. They just gave a plain patty in between the burger. Even the burger bread was not hot. Just shows these people don't value their customers. Worst experience. Do not recommend to anyone. I will say at least to all of my friends to avoid going to this place.

Drove all the way from the Southside for the homemade steak pie, chips and peas. A different class from any I’ve had before. Dynamite!

Amazing value for great food and huge portions.

Love Jaconelli's but has to be a treat as quite pricey. Fish supper £8.90, with 2 slice of fish. Food always fresh and good variety. Family favourite, definitely a winner in this house.

Just been, and the reviews were bang on the money .A hair in my chips the food was reheats ,This place needs looking into from health and hygiene I am afraid and trust me folks I don't give out bad reviews unless it's warranted,Staff well well wel, They need trained on food and hygiene ASAP.

Shocking. I phoned up to ask if I could have my 2 orders sent to my house at the same time because I had made one order and forgot to add something so I then placed another order 2 mins apart and asked if the lady could keep my first order until my second one had come and so they could be delivered both to my house at the same time and was told no because she “can’t keep any orders back” like what they are both coming to my house absolutely ridiculous.

Ordered my mother in law a special fish prompt delivery, she was very impressed, in fact it was that big she couldn't finish it.

Bought two delicious steak pies and chips with gravh and peas which is areal homemade steak pie with plenty of stew and crust and was amazing would highly recommend it definitely be back here again its abit expensive but well worth the money

The battered haggis torpedo from this chippy definitely hit it's target. I've never come across sweet chilli haggis before but as haggis is meant to be spicy it works works really well. Like most chippies where the battered works are sitting on standby in the hot plate containers, if you're interested in a sweet chilli haggis you might need to ask for it to be made up, but quality takes time. Washing it all down with a tin of Bru 1901 (which I think is better than actual Bru and I'm so glad they made the decision to release the vintage stuff in cans) I really enjoyed this chippy. The staff are also good chat as well.

Orders for delivery obviously more important than walk-in buyers. Waited way too long for a simple order while watching chips go out into orders for delivery while I was told I had to wait on chips. Requested and received prompt reimbursement.

This place used to be great but seems a bit scammy these days. How are you gonna charge 5 quid for a chips n cheese then get it wrong? Ordered a toastie the time before and it was basically a DIY sandwich, cheese not melted at all. The folk seem nice, food also seems nice until you eat it.

Bought a fish supper which was lovely! I also bought a portion of fritters which was a disgrace!! They couldn't have cut them any thinner. When I bit into them it was like a mouthful of grease, obviously because there was hardly any potato! Definitely wont buy again

A fish supper is £8.50 which is outrageous, yes there are 2 fish, however the fish was tasteless and the chips were lukewarm to cold. Come on jacobelli you used to be much better than this and for that price people are expecting a better quality of fish supper!

Ordered special fish supper (done in breadcrumbs) at shop. Very busy dealing with delivery outfits. Had to wait about 15mins. Fish was overdone so very crunchy. I think it was haddock. Quite a large piece. Far too many soggy chips. I've had this before via Just Eat and was better. I think the delivery outfits get priority over walk ups.

Bought a supper a pie n a rolln chips walked half an hour down to get it said about 3 times gravy on the chips walked all the way back n theres no gravy. Waste of money binned it.

Really wish I could award this zero stars but cannot do so and post this review. Horrible experience at this shop. Ordered three rolls and chips for myself and my family. When received chips were quite obviously reheats and had to be thrown in the bin. Price for the privilege £7.50!!! Previous experience which was put down to a "one off" was an inedible scotch pie - so greasy it had to be thrown in the bin. After the most recent experience my brother telephoned the shop today only to be told by a female employee (believed to be one of the Jaconelli family) that I should have reported the problem there and then. This to a person who has limited mobility...she was rude and belligerent with no offer whatsoever to redress the matter. Is this really a way to deal with customers that have been going to the shop for many years??? Standards have severely slipped. I will be avoiding at all costs in the future and I would advise the residents of Maryhill and surrounding areas to do the same.

Love this place, the chips are always the right balance of fluffy vs crispy. My wife loves the homemade steak pie. Great traditional fish and chip shop with a few modern extras. Covid safe, and helpful friendly staff.

This weird 'chip' shop didn't have any chips!! I was offered a disgusting half pizza crunch instead. After I had ordered another customer ordered and took the last of their food. Prices also very expensive for the quality and quantity of the food.
