Ivy's Vintage Tea Room in Stratford-on-Avon

I went to the Ivy Tearoom with my son last weekend. The decor and ambiance were fun. A modern twist on a Tearoom. The food was delightful and the recommended teas that accompanied were spot on and delicious. Will definitely return. Maybe for tipsy tea with my husband. What a fun idea! I definitely recommend this little gem!

We came for a birthday celebration and it was absolutely lovely. The food was fantastic the tea was fantastic the service was fantastic. We’ll definitely be coming back frequently. Wonderful!

I took my son and his girlfriend out to her birthday. Spending time with them was wonderful! We had a great time. However, I have a few things I’d improve about the Ivy Tearoom if I could. First, the room was missing a decoration. It had long strings of fluff balls and disco balls - and one whole string was missing. It was right in front of me and bugged me. Next, the sugar - only brown - was in packets and not those cool sugar cubes one picks up with tiny utensils at a tea. The empty packages got messy. Then, we ran out of sugar and called for more (the have a service button at the table) - no one came to give us more sugar. One of the servers happened to come in with food and tea, so I asked her for more sugar then. Unfortunately, a few plates and such were chipped. Here we are, trying it be all classy, and we had to use chipped china. The food was hit and miss - and the hot stuff was served cold. And a little stale. That was disappointing. am used to St. James where everything is pretty much perfect - and for the money I spent, it should have been perfect - or pretty near perfect - at the Ivy Tearoom as well. I rang the service button again when we were leaving the front welcome room - I wanted to know how much a bag of tea was. I was just about ready to leave - we had waited a good 5-10 minutes - and finally someone came out. The tea was 15 dollars for a little bag, so I didn’t get it. So, all in all, I LOVE spending time with son and gf - and it’s always magical- but I was disappointed in this place. If I can’t get in at St. James (only downside: you need to book months in advance) I will change plans and not do a tea. We had a great time - which is why three starts and not two - regardless, but I would not recommend this place.

I've never been to afternoon tea in my own suite before. That was quite nice. The menu was really good. Great tea selection.

There was 5 of us for Tipsy Tea. Had a great time. All the food tasted great and we loved the tea and Bellini’s!

My family and I had a delightful girls' day out at this charming venue. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, surrounded by adorably decorated rooms that exuded personality and warmth. The food was exceptional, showcasing high-quality ingredients, while the tea selection was simply exquisite. The ambiance was a perfect blend of modern elegance and sophistication, making for a truly memorable experience.

It was a fun, unique experience. Loved the suggested tea and food pairings, the intimate space, and the decor in every room. Will definitely go back.

Sharing afternoon tea with friends at The Ivy is truly a special experience. The staff is professional and friendly, the tea and food are delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy. We had so much fun we forgot to take pictures! Photos added from Dec 2024 and March 2025 visits.

I hate to do this but I feel like this needs to be said. For the price you charge, your service is lacking. We had reservations at 5pm and were not served anything but water till almost 5:22pm. The waitstaff would bring the tea and then never check on us. The water was never refilled and we were barely catered too. I have had amazing experiences at St James Tearoom where the staff is so attentive. Also, you charge the full amount of your service at the time of your reservation so maybe that's why you feel no need to work for a gratuity. The venue is gorgeous but if I just wanted to eat mediocre food and drink tea, I could have done that for way less than $170. I paid for an experience.

*update* 3-23-25 I usually have a great experience at this tea room, but my past few visits have not met the standard of service I’ve grown accustomed to. In January, our server was very rude (not attentive, rolling eyes, short response, leaving us waiting for boxes well after our time to leave). It took about 30 min to be served our first course. During my most recent visit in March, the food was served too quickly—all the tea and food were brought to the table within the first 45 minutes, making the experience feel rushed. Love the service, menu and ambiance. Great place to spend a few hours catching up with friends.

Food was trulygreat, although the cucumber sandwiches should have been cut with a sharp knife to look more professionally made). Did not get served tea for 15 minutes, and it really should be served within a few minutes of being seated. Tea was very hot (as it should be 😃). The parents of children (2 families) in the room across the hall should have instructed them to stop walking up and down the hall, talking way too loudly. Tea time is a perfect occasion to teach kids manners to respect others' experience. Shame on the parents. Ample parking. You can also purchase loose tea.

Super fantastic service! We celebrated my sister's birthday here and the entire experience was exceptional. The room aesthetics were gorgeous and hygienic, the food was carefully crafted and delicious, the tea was phenomenal (we took a few bags of it home after our experience) and the service was timely and outstanding. The owner of the business was very accommodating and was even gracious enough to take pictures of us with my vintage polaroid camera (the picture came out great, thank you soooo much)! Alcoholic beverages are refreshing, I highly recommend the Peach Bellini. I'd say this place is best if you stick to a smaller group of people (less picky/snobby people in your party = better experience). I feel like that's what the majority of 1-star reviewers may have had an issue with. Staff were certainly NOT rude, so those reviews make me wonder if it was just perceived rudeness because they just didn't get their way. What were you expecting, the Ritz-Carlton?? Anyway, I will 10/10 be coming back to this establishment in the future!

I had a disappointing experience at Ivy Tea Room. From the moment we sat down, it felt like we were being rushed. The hostess kept constantly asking for our tea choices, and we felt pressured to hurry and make a decision. On top of that, the staff kept reminding us about the time limit, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy our tea. To make matters worse, they started mopping outside of our room, making us feel like we were inconveniencing them. The loud music playing in the background also took away from any sense of calm, making it feel less like a peaceful tea experience and more like a noisy, rushed outing. On top of all this, I was charged the full price for a cocktail instead of the $4 upcharge that had been mentioned. I left feeling more stressed than refreshed and definitely felt like I didn’t get the experience I paid for. Wouldn’t recommend if you're looking for a relaxing tea time.

Granddaughter and I had a wonderful time. Suggestions: Quieter, relaxing music would be more enjoyable. Also, cubes of sugar instead of packets would be a nice touch.

My 2 daughters & niece & their families treated me to Afternoon tea for my 80th birthday . It was so much fun.... Food & tea were excellent. Had been there previously & knew it would be a great afternoon.

I had high hopes for a perfect evening to celebrate my daughter's sweet 16 but unfortunately our experience fell short. We were excited For a memorable night but we left greatly disappointed. The food was mediocre at best rating.5 out of 10 with nothing special about it, especially considered. We paid in extra 100$ for caviar. Their service was basic with no effort made to go above and beyond. To make matters worse, about 40 minutes.Before we finished our tea time the staff started mopping the floors filling the air with a strong cleaning odor that gave my daughter a headache. Despite bringing it to their attention no action was taken. Overall, for a $350 bill, the experience was far from what we had hoped for.

I have been several times taking different groups of friends, family and neighbors. It is so charming inside and out. The food was delicious. I’ve not been for tea -just lunch. I plan to go bk in April and take neighbors. I highly recommend.

Going to the Ivy is such a treat! Surrounding are beautiful, food and tea are delicious and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. One of my favorite places to be with friends.

A fun tea experience, glam-ritsy yet affordable. For seven bucks they gave me a private room. Fancy and fun, well thought out theme, decorations, and atmosphere. A positive, upbeat mood with laughter in the background served with a tinge of a Sunday afternoon girl's gossip whisper session alongside the nicely volumed pop music. Super friendly staff. Would be a perfect place for a ladies outing. Definitely a must try Burque gem - at least once. Highly recommended!

Ivy Tearoom is exceptional. I love the vibe here. The perfect place for delicious treats and honestly the best tea I've ever had. I haven't had tea in one of the glam cottages yet however they are beautiful and I can't wait to continue going and trying different menu items and different seating arrangements.

We went as a group of 4 and did the “Tipsy Tea”, it was our first time there and we Loved it! ! It was so beautiful and a lot of fun. The owner and staff were great and very gracious and kind while explaining everything, serving us, and helping us clean up an accidental drink spill. The food , drinks, and teas were all presented beautifully and it’s so thoughtful of them to offer mock-tails, as half or our group does not drink, but still wanted to have the beautiful drinks. The over all experience was just really nice! We can’t wait to go back!

We took our mother here for her 83rd birthday! It was the first tea time party for everyone except me. But was my first time here. The food was so good and the tea was amazing. The room was private and the service was exceptional. We will have to do this again.

My daughter was visiting and we did the Tea and Tipsy. We went with the teas they recommended with the courses. The Wonderland Cake tea was our favorite. The service was top notch and so friendly. We were in room 3 and had a nice view of the Sandia's. we checked out up stairs where there is a large room for bigger parties. Loved our experience and will be going back.

This is my favorite tea spot. I’m from Albuquerque, but I currently live in Dallas and can tell you there is no experience like this there. Every time I come back this is where I go for a good spot of tea. It’s elegant, we get a new room and a new menu every time. The staff is also always phenomenal. Thank you for creating such an amazing environment to have tea in.

I love EVERYTHING about The Ivy Tearoom. It's super chic, trendy and instagramable. The service and quality is top notch. There is absolutely nothing negative I could even think of to say.

Easy to find, although I expected there to be larger grounds/property. Very cute, nicely decorated rooms, nice gift shop, purchased tea hat and a tea. The time was about right (2 hrs for three courses). I wish it there was an option for open seating. It would have been nice to see and interact with other people versus the private rooms. The tea was very good, the food was so so. Some of the items were good, some were just okay and it would been nice to have one or course item of substance. I suppose fine for afternoon tea but we arrived at noon and maybe arrived hungry. Overall a pleasant experience. Would try another tea house to compare.

I went the day after Christmas with my mom and my boyfriend, and we had a wonderful time! This was our first time visiting the new location, and the addition of private suites is so lovely! The rooms have call buttons so that the staff don't interrupt your experience by checking on you but you're able to ask if you need anything, and I love it! We ordered extra teas and mocktails with our menu and it was so delicious! Everything was excellent and we'll definitely be coming here when we're next in town!

Ivy Tearoom is a beautiful space to spend a morning or afternoon tea and snacks time. My friends and I visited for a birthday celebration, and we were all blown away by the incredible variety and options of tea. The snacks were equally impressive, perfectly complementing each drink. To top off our delightful day, we ended it with a mimosa, which was simply amazing!

I took myself on a little solo date and it was lovely! It takes a little getting used to eating from a coffee table from the cozy chairs (not sure if all rooms are like that). All of the teas were super fragrant and it was a nice amount of food! They noted that I was vegetarian from my reservation and even double checked any preferences or additional considerations for tea.

What a marvelous experience with my daughter in law and granddaughter. We loved our private room which was decorated on point! The food and teas were delicious and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this tea room!

My family of 4 and I had an absolutely amazing experience! The food was great and the tea amazing! Out server did a great job at explaining what to expect and telling us about our food and tea. The experience was not rushed and we were able to just enjoy our time. I loved the online booking process and the ease of being able to reschedule so easily! As a visitor from out of state we had to reschedule but the online ability to do that was a great option to have! Finally, I really wanted to buy some tea and the one I wanted was not on display, the owner was amazing and mixed some in the back for me!!

Super easy to book and pay. We had a severe corn allergy in our party and instead of abandoning the menu, the owner spoke to her beforehand went line by line through all menu items and ingredients. The owner ended up changing a few items so she still got to partake!! Everything was delicious! Service was over the top exceptional. Will be back!

The Ivy Tearoom is so classy and fresh! I brought two newbies to tea, and the Ivy Tearoom did not disappoint. All of the hostesses are so inviting and friendly. One in our group has a weird food allergy, and these ladies were truly accommodating. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time tonight at the Ivy Tearoom! We were so grateful that they went out of their way to accommodate my mom’s food allergy. We called ahead to inquire about ingredients and they were incredibly helpful and modified dishes as much as possible so that she was able to eat without worry. The food was delicious and the tea was great. There were so many options that we can’t wait to go back and try more flavors!

The tea was very good and so was the waitress that we had. I was expecting a nice elegant room and environment which was not met. I would definitely just save my money for St. James tea room. The environment there is much better than the experience I had at this tea room.

Went there for my 18th birthday celebration. Food was okay and tea was the best part. Although the whole experience was great, my friends and I tried to clean up tissue paper and gift wrap to the best of our ability to not have them clean up so much. So it happens as we step away it makes its way to the floor without us knowing. One of the workers tried her best to be nice but it was very passive aggressive, over exaggerating that “the trash was all over the floor” and that it was unfair to her bussers. (Although that’s exactly what your bussers are getting paid for.) So my friends and I went back to the room and took the trash home to throw ourselves.

I don’t want to rate any lower because I’m not here to be unjustly critical of a small business. This was a highly enjoyable time for me and my friends. It’s beautiful and we really enjoyed the tea and food. Before you can even start to have a good time, you first have to get through the RULES. The paperwork and pre pays and check boxes and confirmations all exist for a reason I’m sure. But if you have such strict hoops to jump through just to get in the door, then expecting minimum customer service is reasonable. I tried calling about 8 times on different days and times while they were open and never got an answer. Me and my friends work on call and one member of our party had to withdraw but I thought it was okay because I called 2 days in advance. I truly believe that 72 hours for modifications to a reservation when you have a pre fixed low cost/inventory is wild. I tried calling several times. The outgoing message said to text if there was urgency. I left a message and didn’t hear back for over a day. Because I work on call, I missed when they called back but listened to the vm which said if I wanted to modify there was no refunds just credit for that session. Getting a tipsy tea session with coworkers and then using up a $70 booze credit seemed unwise and unsafe. Since I learned they wouldn’t answer the phone, I decided to keep the reservation as is and invite someone else. When I arrived there was an awkward, too long, and impolite exchange because they had automatically removed a person from the reservation without telling me in the voicemail or asking if that’s what I wanted. It was pulling teeth to just get another tea cup brought to the table and made the added guest feel like we didn’t want her there. I was 5 minutes late and that seemed to be a VERY big deal to the tea house (traffic happens)? We had already been warned that we needed to order but the guest mix up and a broken tea cup ate up way too much time. Our experience started off really awkward and stressful, I’m glad I was with people who rolled with the punches. After joking about how intense the rules were we had a great time. We were really really rushed throughout the whole experience but when we rang the bell for service, no one ever came. We never fully felt welcomed. I would totally try again, especially if someone else was dealing with the rules, contracts, payments, etc. I really hope that as a business, the Ivy chills out a little bit and let the guests enjoy and relax with their awesome offerings. Nothing in food service is all that personal so instead of trying to make a point, just answer the phone or bring another tea cup. Clarifying the rules yet again or making excuses serves no one. You have to be able to provide the same level of standards that you’re asking your guests to meet. Like Cher says in Clueless: “But it's like when I had this garden party for my father's birthday, right? I said RSVP because it was a sit-down dinner. But people came that, like, did not RSVP. So I was, like, totally buggin'. I had to haul ass to the kitchen, redistribute the food, squish in extra place settings. But, by the end of the day it was, like, the more the merrier!” “And in conclusion, may I please remind you that it does not say "RSVP" on the Statue of Liberty.”

Fun ambiance but the food was lacking and most seemed like pre packaged food from Costco. Tea was okay. Would prefer if each guest got to choose their own tea rather than sharing a teapot for each course. We also felt rushed and were interrupted quite often even though the staff were nice overall. If you're looking for ambiance and don't care too much about quality of food or tea then you will enjoy it.

I have experienced several afternoon teas, including others in the area, and I can confidently say that this was the best one. The service and food were exceptional, with each course perfectly paced to allow us to truly savor every bite. I’ve been to other teas where everything is placed in front of you all at once, which felt rushed—this experience was the complete opposite, with a thoughtful and elegant flow allowing my family and I time to finish each course. Thank you for being open during inclement weather, allowing us to celebrate a birthday in such a special setting. If you’re looking for a full tea service and fine dining experience, this is the place to go. We look forward to returning!

Over priced & lacking quality and experience, if you’re looking for a classy tea experience i would not recommend this place I had high expectations but was sadly disappointed EDIT: since the owner decided to respond I’ll add and extra layer to why I chose to give this establishment such a poor rating. It wasn’t not because I indeed booked for an upper level room but was giving a subpar replacement. As other reviewers mentioned the quality of food and just over all experience for a place that’s charging a decent amount of money was not it. Spent less internationally for a way better experience. Not to mention we got upgraded drinks only for one to come not as described and got a weird interaction when asked to correct it as, after spending as much as we did kinda wild to have such a underwhelming experience, But like others have mentioned it’s best fit for an early teenager not a classy adult teatime experience. Unappealing music was also blasting Which adds to the poor rating

First and definitely not my last tea experience! The hocus pocus theme was eventful! The tea was amazing, the food savory and sweet. Loved every minute of it with my friends for a girl's day! A must try! The building was beautiful decorated and the staff were fun and professional is their service.

Booked afternoon tea for a few friends and I. After being seated in a room full of scuff marks on the walls we didn’t receive water/tea/food for at least 30 minutes. When the first course finally arrived our baked portion was raw. The experience for the price was terrible. The food and lack of service ruined the experience. Would not recommend.

We are visiting the city for the first time and this was a last minute addition. This Tea experience was one of the absolute highlights for me. Pre-visit: There was a food allergy in my party so I called and they were closed but they instructed you to text. They confirmed it would be no problem within a few hours...on their off day! For those of you wondering there is a spot on the reservation form to note. Arrival: You are greeted with the most amazing ethereal garden with these adorable bubble areas. It is like a fairy wonder land. It would be amazing in cooler temps and to their credit, they don't rent them in hot months. The experience: Our hostess was amazing and knowledgeable about the tea offering. When my friend mentioned she didn't like the overtime almond flavor of our second course Tea, she was able to recommend a great alternative that aligned with my friend's flavor pallet. The tea is session is non-intrusive and really relaxed. There were several parties on the first floor but we still felt secluded in our own section. The food: Um! Amazing. My two favorite bites were the egg salad and the pesto bite. But all the food was epic. My friend seconded the egg salad and she is an egg salad hater. Her second favorite was the frittata. But I cannot stress this enough the food was top tier. I even took a egg salad sandwich bite to go that they were happy to whip up for me. Side notes: The rooms are Instagram worthy. I MEAN CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS! This whole place is a vibe. The bathroom is ada compliant and beautiful. So spacious. I cannot say enough amazing things about this location. We left with 3 bags or teas, an extra sandwich, stickers, and an amazing experience. If I could suggest a tiny thing. I would loveeee a sticker for your business. Otherwise no changes.. I hope to see you next year.

This was suggested by a friend, I was doing a long distance move and I decided to treat the person, as you may guess to a female, to an exchange, of good communication over a life experience. Well lived, she suggested this place, your room is booked for 2 hours, you pay for in advance, it's high on carbohydrates and sugars, I would recommend, if you're a normal person, who is in a low-carb diet that you order the cheese. This was suggested by a friend, I was doing a long distance move and I decided to treat the person, as you may guess to a female, to an exchange, of good communication over a life experience. Well lived, she suggested this place, your room is booked for 2 hours, you pay for in advance, it's high on carbohydrates and sugars, I would recommend, if you're a normal person, who is in a low-carb diet that you order the cheese. This was a disappointing experience for me… The atmosphere and service were very nice, but the quality and the quantity of the food ( with one exception (quiche) for the price leave a lot of room for improvement. And yes, I’ve been to tea services before, so I know what to expect. I am glad it wasn’t a special occasion for me.

I loved my time here. The semi-private rooms were so beautiful and the tea and food so good

We had such a great time having ladies tea. We got dressed up, drank wonderful teas and tasty food and desserts. The service was wonderful and the presentation phenomenal. We will definitely be back!

This is the perfect girl's day out. The atmosphere is probably my favorite of all the tea houses in Albuquerque. Very modern, cute and girly. The food is always a 10/10 and the service attentive. If you're looking to catch up with your girlfriends this is where you should go!

This was the most fun my mom and I have had in a long long time and we didn't even have to leave town! We felt like we were on a vacation in another country. It was beautiful and so lovely. Very relaxing. Everything we had was delicious and we bought a few of the teas to take home because they were so magical. Everyone needs to visit this place at least once!

I brought my mom and family to Ivy Tearoom for a birthday celebration. We loved having a private cozy room to connect and enjoy each other's company. The staff is kind and attentive. My daughter is a vegetarian and they were so careful to accommodate her needs. The food was amazing!!! It was an absolutely wonderful experience, and I look forward to going back.
