Great little find. Googled italian coffee shops after spending a few days in naples recently and this place popped up. Ordered a cappuccino and cannoli, both excellent and reminded me of being back in Italy. Would highly recommend. Friendly staff too.

It is a tiny gem in Edinburgh. The food was great and their service is friendly and personal. Even when they were busy they made us feel welcomed. We liked it so much we went back the next day! It is small so maybe plan on take away rather than sitting down.

Nos sentimos atraídos por los pasteles a esta pequeña pero encantadoramente auténtica pastelería italiana. El propietario era muy amable y sabía todo sobre los pasteles. Café italiano apropiado y chocolate caliente apropiado - no mezcla de paquetes o instantáneo. Dos pequeñas zonas de estar. May not have done enough research but I was under the impression that this was a bit like a deli with indoor seating. Turns out the stuff is all premade on a shelf like Tesco meal deal or Greggs sandwiches, they then just heat them up. Also 1 singular table. Walked out within a minute of walking in without food as £7 for a prepackaged sandwich with no seating is expensive.

Italian On The Mound es un fantástico lugar para la auténtica cocina italiana. Tenía su pasta casera, que estaba perfectamente sazonada y absolutamente deliciosa. El café era rico y bien hecho, maridaje maravilloso con la comida. El restaurante tiene un ambiente acogedor, acogedor, incluso su pequeño restaurante. Los empleados son amables y atentos. Es un gran lugar para relajarse y disfrutar de comida italiana de alta calidad. Muy recomendable!

I’ve been coming to this amazing little coffee shop for the last 20 years and never had a bad experience , the coffee is authentic and all the food is made with love from old Italian recipes. The soups are “just like Mama made” 😋😋😋 And the number nine baguette always tastes like the first time “amazing” .

Place is small but pretty nice, you can feel like you're buying local. the cannolis however are ok, they seem way better than they taste, I would buy again but don't expect too much from them

Small, cozy cafe with limited seating area. Very friendly and kind staff. Loved the food, it was halal, too. Will definitely visit again!

The place sells fresh products and it is absolutely amaizing. Just a table inside but enough to enjoy everything they ha e. Coffee is the real deal.

This is a very good Italian cafe. The food here is nice and they have decent selection of pizzas. Coffee is good and location is very close to royal mile. Staff was nice and helped me for selection of food. They have very delicious Croccante and Sfoglia. Must visit cafe for some good Italian food 😋

I was looking for Halal sweets, and they was kind and explain every ingredients to me, i loved how the pizza looked like but pork pizza was baked in same ovenproof dish so I left it, she was kind offering to bake a new one for me. I tried the - sicilian cannoli pistachio 10/10 one for 1.90£ - ARAGOSTINI HAZELNUT CHOCOLATE, was very crispy 8/10 one for 1.90£ - CROCCANTE , MILK AND WHITE CHOCOLATE, 10/10, one for 2.20£ -

The best cannoli you can buy in Edinburgh. Both of pistachios and chocolate orange ones are delicious.

Compré cannoli, pero eran tan pequeños! ¡El de vainilla no podría haber tenido más de 2 pulgadas de largo! Mi fuente italiana dice que las versiones pequeñas, cannolicchio son al menos 3. 5 pulgadas. Such a great experience here that I'm eating here 3 times in 3 days! Stefano and his mother are so accommodating to any request. The number 9 sandwich can't be missed, had mine with haloumi as a vegetarian and it was amazing!

Just remembered I visited here on Tuesday and hadn't realised in my excitement that they were closed, I'd seen the pistachio Canoli in the window and wanted it so bad, as I got in there was a lovely man cleaning up and I realised it may be closed which should have been obvious by the door being difficult to get through (I'm so sorry!) but despite this he still served me 2 pistachio canoli and they were so good!! They were honestly melt in your mouth amazing and had me smiling for a long while, thank you so much and I'm sorry I was clueless and walked in at closing you really didn't have to serve me. The 'I seen you coming sarnie shop'. Ordered a couple of sandwiches and a couple of arancini and to be fair they tasted nice but someone must have eaten half of it, ordered in advance and paid about £25 for the 4 items so we're expecting some substantial scran...... Was hungry in an hour, tiny portions. The sandwichs are something you could knock up with some gear from the supermarket for about £2. I'm sure I'll get a reply like yeah but it's like my Nona used to make, she must have been a skinny lass with those portions. Probably wants to be 50% cheaper for what it is. Wouldn't go back tasted nice but ended up needing a Greggs 1.5 hours later. Just go to Gregg's first and cut out the middle man.

Best spot for food and coffee in the city centre...probably the whole city. Quick service and super friendly staff.

I don’t normally write reviews, but this place really deserves it. The number 9 baguettes are out of this world and the staff are so lovely and accommodating. You must give it a try!

Had breakfast made by Stefano’s mum. A lovely Italian family run business and Stefano made us feel welcome. A tiny place that is greatly enhanced by the owners’ warmth. Very nicely located and walking distance from Edinburgh Castle

Very pleasant Italian coffee shop located near Edinburgh Castle. Small but comfortable and warm welcoming Italian Scottish family who runs the business. We had excellent tasting coffee and breakfast. Very reasonably priced considering the good quality of the food and its excellent location. Stefano and his lovely mama were very pleasant.

Fantastic coffee and even better food, super friendly atmosphere. Loads of locals use it, a regular even cleared the table for us. Small space but warm and practical. Definitely worth a visit when on the Royal mile.

Didn’t eat the food, but there was a guy raving about the nines wrap. I had one of the best lattes I’ve had in a long time. Strong, not bitter, with great aroma and flavor. The guy behind the counter was friendly and informative. A great find!

Lugar perfecto en el que comprar algo para desayunar (brownie y cannoli muy sabrosos) o para comer algo ligero al mediodía (hacen bocadillos y wraps al momento y extraordinarios). Nos atendió una chica italiana que habla español, muy simpática y amable, algo que se agradece en Edimburgo.

Il caffè è molto buono, lo consiglio a tutti gli italiani che vogliono bere un buon caffè a Edimburgo, e chiaramente a tutti gli scozzesi che vogliono assaggiare un po’ del nostro vero caffè 😜. Il servizio è ottimo, personale gentilissimo e simpaticissimo. Semplicemente ottimo.

Beautiful little Italian cafe with very friendly staff. Had the most delicious sandwich I’ve tried here! Would highly recommend. Also has a variety of cold drinks which are very necessary with the current warm weather.

One of the best baguettes I have had in a long time. Delicious fresh baguette, Full of tasty ingredients. The original jalapeño sauce is to die for and the chicken is super well cooked. Nice little place to grab a sandwich and something sweet during your visit in Edinburg.

This is a wonderful spot for just a few to sit or stop in and grab a snack to go. The grilled chicken baguette was amazing. They have many flavorful cannolis and a display of good looking items we did not get a chance to try. The Flat White Coffee was fantastic. The friendly staff was glad to see us and helpful with there menu and recommendations for dinner.

This little cafe in the heart of Edinburgh serves authentic and tasty Italian pastries. And the cappuccino was great as well. Best for take away, but if you are lucky, there is a little spot to sit and refuel.

We stopped in by chance and the owner was helpful and friendly. The pastries were delicious as was the cappuchino. Locals were a constant with orders of the number 9 sandwiches and coffee. Will stop in again before we had back to the states!

The legendary No9 for those who know is of course the very best sandwich you are going to have anywhere in the city if not further afield and usually does it for me. But on whim today I decided to have a pasta and was offered the addition of the No9 grilled chicken with melted cheese added to the pasta.. How could you refuse. Well people, this is some next level wizardry which will just blow you away!!! I say no more.

Insanely good food, served by a family oriented team who truly care about the service and produce served. I cannot fault the quality of the food here, all handmade, fresh and with true care. A brilliant experience that all locals and tourists simply must experience. Go for the famous No9 and you won't be disappointed. The heat heads amongst you can try out the 999, which packs both heat and flavour

Finally made the trip up to Edinburgh from London, after over a year of my partner hyping this place up at every opportunity as the best sandwich in Scotland. She was mistaken, as it's the best sandwich in the UK by a long way. Perfect balance of ingredients, each bringing something to the sandwich, made freshly, with care and attention. I'm glad this is so far, as otherwise I'd be the size of a house

We had some of the best home made pizza we've ever tasted in this cafe (and I've been in Italy before). The staff are super welcoming and open to a nice morning chat. The croissants and cannelloni had authentic Italian flavours and were fresh out of the oven. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for a chill time with authentic fresh food.

I traveled to Edinburgh for a small trip with a group of friends back in late June 2021. I asked for a New York Pastrami Ciabatta and Mocha and I haven't been able to stop thinking about the ciabatta. The gentleman behind the counter gave my friends and I excellent service and was overall very friendly. If ever I'm back in Edinburgh again I'll be sure to visit again and enjoy more of the cafe, hopefully the weather will be more inviting. 5/5.

The food was beautiful, the people were friendly and funny, the other diners were warm. The pasta we had was so good that I felt like crying, really reminded me of home, and it was hands down the best arancini I've had.
