Fabulous turkish food best in essex excellent grilled meats and mezze can’t fault this family run restaurant is a real gem in Southend very friendly and welcoming.

It’s not pretty restaurant but what it lacks in looks it more than makes up for in flavour and service. Lovely authentic Turkish food. No frills. No fuss. 100% coming back here soon.

Super friendly staff. They gave us free starters, dessert and tea. The portions were large and filling. The hummus and bread were amazing. The sea bream was good also. My only complaint is that the lamb ribs were tough and chewy.

Steak wasn't medium rair as asked for and salad wasn't fresh and the rice wasnt cooked enough, and the bread was just in the bag not packaged

It was delicious! Fresh and tasty dishes. If you want to have lunch, this is definitely the place. And be ready for huge portions. Baklava amazing! Strongly recommend!

cold food, didn’t taste great & driver ignored delivery instructions

Never once had a bad meal from here. Came back tonight after leaving the area and the food was just as nice as I remember. Yes some prices seem high but everywhere is for good food these days.

ordered the "extra large" Donner and rice. this used to feed both me and my wife, but the new portion size is poor and quality has reduced.

I never use Just Eat because of all the Horror stories. But I love Istanbul food and being full of flu didn’t want to leave the house!! Plus we got a £20 voucher for Christmas. So I took a gamble. So was very surprised it turned up early and still hot. Thankfully Just Eat did the restaurant justice.

Really disappointed and do not feel we have had value for money, especially for a takeaway that was quite expensive. We have ordered from here plenty of times but this order was pretty terrible. The food arrived cold and we had to reheat it all back up. One of the dishes had leaked everywhere. The meat on both dishes was dry and tough and pretty inedible and we ended up leaving most of it. Has put us off ordering from here again now.

Lovely friendly restaurant, food was very tasty and the portions was large enough to need a take away box for the leftovers.

I ordered grilled wings with rice and salad with bread. it was absolutely incredible and perfectly seasoned and cooked beautifully. however the chicken doner was questionable, the chicken itself tasted odd!? I couldn't enjoy it because that chicken was questionable which is disappointing. but overall I'm happy with how everything else was. delivery driver was friendly and polite

Food was delivered about 10mins late. It was lukewarm but still tasted good and edible. JustEat recommended this restaurant as one with an offer (something free for any order over £25). We didn't receive anything other than what we ordered (£30+).

Restaurant in a good location. The prices of the meals were very high. Bought mixed donner and the chicken was smelly and meat was dripping in oil. £20 for mixed meat and chips. Safe to say i wont be going back. Service was good. Restaurant was clean.

This is a gem in Southend. Tucked away but close to the main shopping area, car park and buses. The food is delicious and very fresh. Couldn't fault it. This is my second time eating at this restaurant. So far, the best Turkish I've eaten in Southend. The service is excellent and the owner is very welcoming and attentive. We will be back and can recommend.

Had an amazing lunch today (Saturday). The attentive service, quality of food as well as the quantity was exceptional. I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. It made my birthday extra special.

Food was warm and delicious. The BBQ was a tad bit dry and could be done slightly better. Overall, good portion and taste. Definitely recommend them.

The delivery was a little early. It was deff not a problem though as we were very impressed with what was delivered. We've not ordered from here before. We will be sure to again. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Ordered lamb Shish takeaway. Meat was hard and had a stronger smell which indicates might not be that fresh. Definitely £15 was too expensive for it. I will not go back!

I am a very happy Istanbul delivery customer over the last seven years and wouldn’t go anywhere else for my Turkish. Good value for money and very consistent on the quality. Drivers always very friendly and the owner is a top guy to.

Just had dinner at Istanbul Turkish, absolutely great customer service with very generous portions. Food was fresh and delicious.

We ate lamb shish kebab and the lamb was tender and delicious. The starters was all lovely and the service was very friendly. You can trast in them hygine as well. It is a very clean shop. Overall is a very good Turkish restaurant. I definitely recommend 👌.

we had the set meal for 4, what good value, honestly could have fed another 2 people with the food we had. Lots of flavours, good variety. And a few free cold meze’s thrown in also, thank you, will order again soon, x x

I am extremely unhappy with the service and food from this Turkish restaurant. Our order was forgotten, resulting in a 2-hour delivery delay. When we finally received our food after calling them 4 times, it was completely wrong. We ordered 2 set 4 meals, but what we got was mostly kebabs with hardly any lamb or chicken, clearly just thrown together hastily. There were no apologies issued for the inconvenience. This experience has left us very dissatisfied. I do not recommend this restaurant.😔

Called up the first time to check my delivery. The first guy lied and said “it’s on its way” I called up another 10/15 minutes later and told him “it’s on its way” when I questioned the he already said that he said it will be leaving in about 10/15 minutes because it’s still in the time period. When I called the final time when I got a notification it was delivered, I get told “the system can delay sometimes” and I explained that it said “delivered” and she just said it again and again.

Wouldn't have minded about the lateness, but the food showed as being delivered almost 20mins before actually arriving.

Was back in Southend and fancied something relatively healthy so looked up kebab shops in the area and came across Istanbul. Initially I was put of due to it being in Southends version of hell in the York road but I was pleasantly surprised once I got passed the one legged crack head street drinkers. The restaurant was clean, had a real charcoal grill and the order came with rice and salad so I ordered a lamb shish and wasn't disappointed it tasted great along with the cacik and a chilli sauce and the salad was out of this world with herbs and spices on it. The free drink was a nice touch if I'm ever back in Southend and want kebab I'm heading here.

The order was late by 20 minutes and the quality of the meat was as good as the order we had the week before. Will not use again

Order was 15 minutes late, called the restaurant they said 10 minutes it's now 20 minutes later and still no food....shocking no idea if it's even coming and just eat said its been delivered but it's not.

This halal Turkish restaurant is amazing! I usually don’t write reviews but the customer service and food is too amazing not to! I went with my family to this restaurant and changed my mind twice before actually ordering, and then got takeaway but then decided come back to eat inside with my family - so I would’ve been seen as a difficult customer from most restaurants. The owner, manager, waitress and all staff were really smiley, inviting and accommodating. They also gave me and my husband 2 free drinks. I noticed they were treating all families and customers the same with warmth and kindness, the best part is they are even great with children! This restaurant couldn’t get praised enough. I’ll definitely be going back.

This is a second visit with family, and what can I say?. I would highly recommend Istanbul York road if you are looking for a real Turkish restaurant experience. The food is world class and the restaurant team made us feel most welcome from start to finish.

Number 1 turkish restaurant in Southend, food was great and we had a lot of home specialities and the chief was great. I felt like at legendary turkish guy Yasin Cengiz (skidi dop)

Food which was provided was nice however missing all salads & dips.

Very disappointed. Chicken Shish was dry, lamb Shish was fatty and over cooked. Lamb donor was dry. Chips were not edible. The bread and garlic dip were nice. Salad had way to much coriander

one of the best takeaways in Southend and for sit down meals..the food is just great always hot always lots of.,the staff are so friendly and attentive they cannot do enough to make the customer feel at home and that they are important to them....always offered a Turkish tea when waiting for a take away or a sit down meal
