Pleasant experience but service was a little may be short of staff. Food good but not exceptional it has been better on previous occasions

Only went for drinks but me and my wife both really enjoyed the atmosphere of this venue. Really good service too. Definitely recommend

AMAZING. The staff and manager were so friendly and kind. The food… wow! Really really delicious, it’s pricey but definitely you pay for what you get - quality meals. Good atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough!!

They boast about the wonderful dining experience on their dining floor under a large disco ball near the kitchen. But if they fancy changing your booking to what is designed as their large party area upstairs, then they will and you won’t be told about it. In fact they’ll tell you upstairs is the genuine dining area and downstairs is for functions! Hilarious because upon arrival there was a large 60th party taking place on the top floor. You always want to choose independent over chain and hope better service is what you get in return… well that’s not how it works here. Thanks for the two free drinks as way of apology. It would have faired a lot better if we hadn’t travelled down from West Sussex.

We were visiting Winchester for a weekend for our wedding anniversary and we were recommended Inn the Park for sunday lunch so we booked in advance to ensure we weren't disappointed..on arrival we were greeted and shown to our table ...glad we booked as it was full and we thought this to be a good sign.. near to us a large family party of about 20. We ordered from a very plesent waitress and waited for our food. After about 15 mins our starter arrived ..how disappointing a couple of small pigs in blankets with wilted rocket and a dollop of very bitter cranberry sauce ! we order a second drink which after about another 15 mins we had to remind the waitress of.... fast forward to over an hour later we asked how long our roast dinners would be we were told about 5 mins ...everyone around us seemed to be getting there food ....another 10 mins past and unfortunately we had gone past it and left...just then as my husband put his jacket on and went to find the bathroom the food arrived I explained to the waitress and he spoke to the manager we paid for just the drinks and yes the manager apologised and agreed we had waited far to long and if they had realised the kitchen was on a go slow they would have talked to us and made us aware....a great shame as venue is lovely as was the waitress and manager hence the extra star ...maybe a few less bookings would be an idea. To enable good reasonably timed service.

We were a party of 22 on a Saturday night and our server never skipped a beat. Jess's impeccable service, and the outstanding duck starter and venison main made the evening for us all.

Absolutely incredible- these guys need to be being considered for a Michelin star. The location is incredibly romantic, the food is absolutely mind blowing, the service is beautiful! 100% recommend. A very happy couple leaving a wonderful date night!

Cold restaurant, so cold it ruined the experience, we mentioned this to 3 members of staff and no one was bothered and 1 member of staff agreed

Great atmosphere and friendly attentive service. Good menu options with interesting ingredients and the vegetarian choices were listed first. We had the mackerel and smoked trout starters, which were both excellent. We shared a reasonable priced steak special which was cooked to perfection. The pear clafoutis to finish was exceptionally good. Would definitely recommend this restaurant

Was slow off the mark visiting and wish had ignored the variable reviews as loved it! Beautiful old mill building , the portico (front entrance with columns) was build In 1759 to cover the front of the old mill. Inside has been completely refurbed and have done a great job with stylish but fun decor, with giant red glitter ball and quirky paintings. Food was top class. Starter of cheese croquettes were so good! Crispy goodness and rich gooey, cheesy filing. Had the sharing for 2 Sirloin on the bone deal, amazing value at £60 which came with a bottle of Merlot and choice of two sides. Went for the potato gratin and green beans. Delicious! Perfected cooked juicy medium rare steak with chargrilled flavour. Service was excellent, our waitress Sara was really friendly and knowledgeable, and gave great cocktail recommendations too, which we had in the upstairs lounge area instead of pudding. Highly recommend this place, for dinner or just drinks in the upstairs part. Spotted someone having a lovely meats and cheese board which may have to try next time. Not worth going. The roast dinner is now £20.00 it used to be £15.00. Less food and very few veggies. The quality of the meat is very poor too and it was reheated to my taste. Unfortunately we live in era in which we want to go out, have a good time and support local business but in reality we are ripped off . Pay more for less, low quality and the hard worked money goes to waist. Very disappointed.

Flabbergasted at the price of 2 x SMALL glasses of wine £9.00 each! Didn’t realise I was buying the glasses as well as their contents? Appreciate businesses have overheads etc & the view of the park on a lovely sunny afternoon / evening comes at a premium - but really? That feels like a massive exploitation to me. Its Winchester not central London. I could go to the supermarket & buy 2 bottles for the same price. When I raised my eyebrows & questioned the barman who served me “is that correct - these are small glasses” he just said “yep” in a slightly condescending manner. By which time it was too late as they were already poured. Won’t be going there again. Shame.

meeting old business friends and food and wine lovers...looking for a new eating experience in winchester a half way meeting place two from london and one from the new Forest.Familiar with the delights of the Chesil rectory we were keen to try their new venture ....we were not disappointed .The service was immaculate and the meat from the Butchers specials beautifully cooked .I was slightly disappointed that the eclectic wine list did not contain more aged and fine wine.However the very knowledgeable female sommelier advised that the wine list offering was about to change to include fine wine examples without the normal huge mark up! and would take into account our view that alcohol content should be included these days.... we all agreed that we had found a new eating gem and look forward to many more meetings at Inn the Park. I had been keen to try Inn the Park for some time, as a former resident of Winchester, as it’s such a beautiful building and its sister restaurant, the Chesil Rectory, is a local icon. I was not disappointed. The first thing you notice is the welcoming staff and the second the thoughtful and comforting decor. It is quite literally somewhere you can spend an entire afternoon, as I did with a cousin I hadn’t seen for several years. At no point were we rushed or made to feel that we were anything but welcome, despite being the only diners left from lunch. And then there’s the food. There’s an excellent short menu at a fixed price for two or three courses but we were both attracted to the slow cooked pork belly, which was without question the best I have ever had that cut cooked. Topped with a wafer thin piece of crackling, I have no idea how they did it and that is what I want from a restaurant, not to feel this was something any competent cook could do at home. Accompanied by crushed new potatoes, braised cabbage and a superb sauce, I was glad I’d skipped the starter and left room (just) for treacle tart and clotted cream. The filling was the star, not the pastry, with perfectly balanced sweetness. Prices even on the main menu are not expensive and actually surprisingly low for the standard of cooking. A highly recommended local business, I’d be back tomorrow given half a chance!

Stopped off for just a glass of wine each on our way back to the park and ride having spent a nice afternoon in Winchester ………. , 2 x medium glass of wine cost us £21.00 😬. What a ripoff, Didn’t even get a bottle.. not impressed, Was not offered house wine which was around £6.50 for a medium glass … So be prepared to pay way over the top prices for a medium glass of white wine . Don’t think that we will be calling here again
