Have to agree with the only terrible on here. I can't see that it warrants any other review. Absolutely filthy. My mate went to the wc and came straight back out. He said there's no way I'm going in there. Where on earth is environmental health around here. Truly one of the worst pubs I have ever been in,and I've done plenty.Avoid like the plague.

I'm from Wiltshire, so am used to country pubs. We were visiting family & were taken here after a gig. It's very "rustic"! Dusty, fan lights, that look like they're about to fall down etc. But it adds to the character. Just avoid here if you're after a modern, clean, classy cocktail bar. Think 70's, spilt beer and dancing to songs being played by vinyl. No need to dress up all posh & no need to impress anyone. I never feel overly safe in London but here I did. Such a great atmosphere. Never takes long to get served. People, including me, even left coats & bags on tables so they could dance in the trust that they wouldn't get taken (they didn't). Bouncer on the door. Free to get in. Just go the loo before you go in. I accepted the old school feel but the toilets were gross!

Found Indo Whilst walking along Whitechapel High Street. On entering, it looked like a bomb had hit it (but in the nicest of ways). They have a fantastic selection of beers, and there was a very friendly lady serving at the bar. I found the German beer fantastic. While I was drinking a large group of "city gentlemen" arrived...... so it can't be all that bad. All in all a very nice atmospheric East End pub, will call in again.

I was staying at the nearby budget hotel (Ibis Whitechapel) and asked at the desk for nearby pubs. None were really nearby, so I explored. Straight across Whitechapel Road from the East London Mosque lies a tiny pub called Indo. So many Muslims on the street in traditional garb, and a very Middle Eastern bazaar all along Whitechapel. You might never expect to find a pub like this here, but...Fantastic! Just a few tables, barstools along the bar, and a cozy sofa. The clientele were über cool people, from all over Europe (and even New Zealand and Australia). And one American (me), LOL. Quite the place for chit-chat and camaraderie. No fear that somebody might rob you. It was like a neighborhood pub of yore. Even the bartenders were trusting. They would serve you a drink, and not pester you to pay, except when you asked for another! Of course! A great selection of draft beers and ales on tap, but my favorite was California's Lagunitas Fusion XXX1, an amazing strong ale (9.6% ABV), served only in tulip glasses. The rest of the brews came in Imperial pint (568 mL) glasses. The pizza was so-so, but freshly-made. Perhaps I am just used to American pizza, this was more Italian (very simple). Dogs are welcome, and everybody is friendly and nice. You feel totally a part of a family...of vagabonds from all over the world! After I moved across town to another London neighborhood (Southwark), I came back to the Indo!

Upon entering Indo, I felt like I was in an old back bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. It felt homey, just a tad outdated but with much character to compensate nicely, with a wonderful young lady barkeep who provided excellent conversationist to all within, though at the time it was relatively early and thus quiet. We ordered a pint of good Munchen ale and Coke to compliment two pizzas of decent size: one with arugula, olives, homemade sauce and cheese. The second consisted of anchovies, prosciutto, artichoke hearts and olives as well. Virtually everything was excellent: crispy light crust, frontline ingredients in each pie, save for the lack of any redeeming quality relative to the olives which tasted watery, canned and bland. It would be so much better to charge an extra L1 for the two pies and get some fresh signature olives in quality oil into the mix.Other than their including better olives or my having asked them left out, the experience was tasty, fun one punctuated by good company and overall quality. For L25 inclusive of tip, we felt we'd done quite nicely. Just beyond (oddly named) Indo is a wonderful ice cream cone stop of excellent quality for a toothsome casual dessert.

We visited Indo twice in October 2014, f, having visited before during a break last year.It has a relaxed atmosphere, with very friendly staff, very good prices for drink by London standards, and a good range of quality beers. It has a lot of character, and many characters visit to sample its bohemian, but unpretentious vibe. The barman who served us was a really nice guy, we discussed rock music for some time, he plays in a London band, and had a great sense of humour. We had a very tasty pizza and salad, the pizza was huge, enough for two people and excellent value.I would recommend this bar to anyone who enjoys good beer and great service, and a change from the plastic bars in so many places. My wife and I are in our 60s but felt very comfortable, with the mixed, mainly young regulars and puntersJohn

Be careful if you are seated on the bench against the wall, not recommended for anyone over 80 kgs! We had a couple of pints which are reasonably priced considering the location. Pizza was absolutely delicious! I went for a margarita with jalapeños @ £7 it was well worth it! Bit noisy in the place but I suppose you would expect that being in such a small place.

If you a looking for a singular and independent bar in centralish London drop into the inauspicious looking Indo. A sliver of a bar hiding in the nooks and crannies of Whitechapel Rd jammed between chicken shops it is an oasis for people who don't buy fake London hostelries and polished chains. You actually get a genuine and interesting conversation, a good beer (which won't run to a second mortgage) , a varied playlist which might even introduce you to a few new tunes and decent bar snacks. It is no bigger than a corridor but makes up its size in kindness and independent attitude. Ignore all the negative food reviews if you want your dinner chip round the corner onto Brick Lane!

I went to Indo last night, expecting a lovely pizza from everything that I have heard. When we first entered (three friends and I), we were quite shocked at how small it was. However we went to the bar and got drinks (surprisingly cheap) and waited for a table to become available. After a while, we asked if we could order our pizzas and if there's no tables by the time it comes could we have it as take out, which was fine. We ordered our pizzas at 8:15pm and were told there would be a half an hour wait, which to be honest was quite long anyway since there was only around 25 people in the pub, and barely any were eating. When we finally got a seat, we were then told they had no mushrooms in the kitchen so could we have other toppings instead, I asked for spinach on mine. When my pizza came (9:05pm) there was no spinach, and instead they'd put an egg on it!? I'm sorry but having a soggy pizza from too much egg is not what I wanted. We then had to wait another 10 minutes for the next two pizzas to come, and by 9:25 we asked where the final pizza was. This one was vegan, so it was literally dough, sauce and greens. We got told that the chef had 'had a melt down' over how many orders he'd had (not many at all while we'd been there) and that's why our food was so late. It would of been nice to have been told this in the 50+ minutes we were waiting.Over all I was very disappointed. Terrible service for pizza (the bar staff were lovely, however), and the pizza itself was vile. I actually left about 75% of mine. Do not recommend.
