Imperial Spice in Croydon

I'm really writing this review to commend Manoj on his excellent customer service at the restaurant and bar. Management was great but Manoj really stood out here. Keep up the good work Manoj. I'd definitely recommend checking out Hampton by Hilton Croydon. Cheers

Such a bizarre experience. someone needs to be sacked for such a lack of vision in how to run a restaurant. bizarre menu and weird place. It completely relies on hotel traffic in the conference style dinning room. The hotel manager should realise that there are not many other restaurants to compete with and is losing out on business due to lack of vision.

Fuimos con muchas expectativas, pero nos sentimos decepcionados con la comida. El arroz era u poco hecha, los kebabs eran normales.

Me había comido anteriormente aquí cuando era un restaurante indio y estaba bien. Así que cuando este estaba reservado para el almuerzo de Navidad que no estaba muy preocupado. Sin embargo, el día fue una decepción enorme entrantes estaban tibios platos principales inconsistente porciones de verduras para la tradicional comida de Navidad y no salsa de arándano o pan. La salsa también estaba muy salada. Curry de salmón estaba seco era horrible seco y sin sabor. No había acompañamientos excepto un pan naan en seco. He tenido curris mejor de un supermercado que compre por menos de 3 libras. Esto no era reciente en el sitio web. Me sentí muy indignado de tener nuestra oficina almuerzo de Navidad en este lugar. Sólo había 20 de nosotros y se colocó en el 1° piso de la calle, que nos dejó muy aislado. Nos pusieron en 4 - 5 mesas redondas que eran mucho aparte tuvimos que organizar las mesas físicamente a nosotros mismos! La habitación estaba decorada adecuadamente, pero parecía más de una escena de boda de una escena de navidad. La comida era insípida donde estaba tibio. Las verduras estaban congelados y no fresco. El tamaño de las porciones eran diferentes. Los tamaños de porción de desierto y niño tamaño fueron patéticos. Redondear un ratón teníamos corriendo en la planta, lo que impulsó un colega contacto servicios ambientales! Los dos miembros del personal quedó detrás de la barra con los brazos cruzados mirando que era muy desagradable! Cuando vuelvo a trabajar en el nuevo año, se pondrán en contacto con la administración sobre un reembolso completo! No recomiendo este lugar y dar la continuación estrellas: Comida 0 / 10 Copa 2 / 10 Limpieza 0 / 10 Servicio al cliente 0 / 10 nunca más. Qué asquerosa y sucia en el establecimiento.

Husband and I stayed at the Hampton and stopped inside for some dinner. Was interesting to find, the restaurant is in what appears to be hotel banquet space. Presumably they didn't book a lot of events so they make more money renting out the space. Menu was a large hodge-podge of indo-Chinese and American/British cuisine. Food was ok, nothing special. Service took an extended period of time to come tend to us even though we were one of two tables in the restaurant.

We arrived in Croydon fairly late having missed getting off at the station for most direct connection from Gatwick. Being weary, but hungry, we were relieved when hotel desk staff said that we did not even have to leave the building to get supper. Imperial Spice restaurant was in the other side of the building and used to be part of the hotel, though was now an independent establishment. There were few guests eating at that late hour. We were exhausted so it was not particularly memorable, but food was satisfying, portions adequate and service acceptable.

I hosted my pre-retirement (redundancy) leaving do at the Imperial Spice restaurant and conference facility; part of the Hamptons by Hilton hotel. Excellent staff who planned and hosted everything with real service. In addition to professional and sensitive arrangements, they also served excellent food. By accident I even overpaid on the night and they returned this amount the next day. I have no hestitation in recommending them for any function or just a good meal!

Small room once used by the hotel. The menu is the strangest thing. Indochinesse mix. It just doesn't seem to work. The menu resembles something MI6 sends to the press with loads of the dishes blacked out. That leaves a little over half of the menu. Better to reprint. The actual food was ok but its hard to get away from the fact, its a hotel room with an external door. I confess the night was fun but mainly though laughing at the place. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Most of the reports on here are excellent for this restaurant, but my experience was very different. I went into the restaurant at around 7pm, when it was virtually empty. No-one noticed me standing by the desk, so after a few minutes I went and found someone and was shown to a table. Service was slow after that. I ordered Chicken Jalfrezi, which was tepid and the chicken itself was rubbery. In retrospect I should have sent it back. I was ill for most of the night. Staff were polite enough, but this was not a good experience.

Tempted in here as they offered a 20 percent discount to all guests at the Croydon Hampton where I was staying and I did not fancy walking out. A nice modern restaurant with friendly staff and an Indo Chino fusion menu, food was good I had a Chilly Aloo starter battered potatoes in a spicy sauce, for main I had Kadhai Paneer with spices rice and for pud a kulfi all very nice and a good vegetarian choice too always a plus for me. I would go again and as I said the big plus was the discount which equated to a fiver off!

Been here twice. It's in a hotel. Really nice food. Not too spicy but flavoured. Staff really nice too.

Best Indian in and around croydon. Try the tandori chicken and lamb chops. Lamb curry also fantastic. They don't have own parking but hot parking around the corner. It's proper Indian food none of the Bangladeshi food.

We visited for 18th Birthday Party and it was a perfect venue. Delicious food, and beautifully looked after. Would highly recommend it.

Nice to find an Indian restaurant with a Indian chef, not Bangladeshi. Different food and tasty. Not the cheapest place but it is London so acceptable

Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. What more can you ask for. Will be coming back soon!

Fantastic venue and amazing food! The staff were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us! Nothing was too much trouble! I am so glad we chose to host our son's 18th birthday party here! All our guests loved the venue and raved about the food. We chose a selection of Chinese and Indian canapés and Indian main course. Food was gastronomical! Thank you everyone for making it a stress free night and allowing us to enjoy the party too! Special thanks to Azad who was a great event planner who made the night run smoothly! Good is excellent, so worth a visit to Croydon just for that!

I came across this restaurant through recommdation. Excellent customer service,food was at a high standard and good value. Will definitely be returning soon.

We had our son's first birthday party at this restaurant. Restaurant layout was good and had good decor. Food was excellent and staff were very helpful and accommodating. All our guests had a very good time. All in all a GOOD establishment. I would recommend this place as a restaurant or as a party venue.

Even if I was born Italian I consider myself an expert of Indian cuisine, as I lived for years in Asia and... in the UK. Well, this restaurant is definitely below the average.I was here with a colleague and tried samosa, paneer and biryani: the first two were just ok, but biryani was overcooked, oily and tasteless, so we couldn't finish it and prefered to leave the place.Btw, they call themselves an "indochinese" restaurant, thinking that it means indian and chinese... they don't know that Indochina is the old name of the French colony of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

I was invited by one of my uncle's, for his daughters birthday party. I am not that fond of Indian Cusine,but the food I had in this restaurant was amazing. The service was good and the cocktails was quality. After this day I have fallen in love with this place. The atmosphere was really relaxed and good music. I will come back again and again with friends and family. would highly recommend to visit this place atleast once in your life.

One of the best restaurant I have been. I was on a busy Saturday night with my friends the food was really delicious service was very friendly. Inspite of being busy the manager took time to talk to us and recommended tandoori platter which was more than enough to for 2 people. Their curries are amazing reminded of India to me. Had a wonderful time and will definitely visit again.

Clean, modern restaurant located adjacent to Hampton Inn Croydon on the first floor. Friendly service. Varied menu featuring both Indian and Chinese dishes. We had one curry and rice pilau and one Szechuan crispy noodles. All of the food was excellent. The rice was costly, but is an ample amount for two people. We would definitely eat there again when in the area.

Had a family lunch for my daughter's 18th and my mum's birthday's with a "murder mystery" theme (private theme). Shaker (Floor Manager) worked with me a couple of weeks ahead of the event to ensure everything was going to run smoothly. There were hiccups on the day from my end (we started an hour late) but Shaker and the team were excellent at getting the food and drinks out in good timing. He gave a warm reception to my guests and all the staff were VERY polite and accommodating. The food was very good with generous portions. The guests who chose the Fish Cakes, Chicken Tikka starters, Sea Bass with mashed potatoes and Steak all said it was excellent. Shaker not only helped with putting on good music including "Happy Birthday" music, he also helped me to stock some of my stuff away in storage to collect it later. I stumbled across Imperial Spice because I booked a hotel room for my daughter next door - it was one of the best stumbles I've come across. The restaurant is cosy, quiet, intimate, ambient and classy - also smells gorgeous the minute you walk in. Big thank you to Shaker and all the staff and a big thumbs up to Imperial Spice!

Went to imperial spice restaurant on 13th didn't expect to have a Valentine's theme night. Really well presented and organised. Service was good, loved the food. its a unique indochinese restaurant. Been in Croydon from last 11 years but never had such a wonderfull meal in Croydon ever. I will recommend to go with family u will surely enjoy ur time and food

Dinner was excellent - everything was cooked and spiced exactly in the tandoori sampler of seafood, chicken, and beef kofta. The food brought me right back to my visit to Hyderabad and Bangalore regions - faithful execution of traditional recipes. The server-recommended stewed lamb stew dish with a side of naan was brilliant. I would definitely visit again!

Had a lovely meal with good attentive service ...tables well organised and spaced ...clean and open plenty of room one of the best ...a little gold gem ....also you can tell a good indian restaurant by the number of indian,Asian people eating there for family dos ...the chicken lollipops are amazing ....if you don't know where it is its by the Hampton hotel near jurys ......

Service was ok. Not warm but typical business hotel style. Not what i do expect in a restaurant. The food was ok. But the mixtures of asian and indian style is horrible. Chicken Tikka Massala was like Jalfreezi, too spicy. Dessert was excelent but british (sticky toffee pudding). Was my first and last time. Never ever...

Booked a table at Imperial Spice for Friday 12 Feb. The booking was made by phone on Wed 10 Feb. Booking was confirmed & accepted. When my husband & I arrived staff looked confused & said there was a function on in the restaurant & my booking shouldnt have been taken. I asked to speak to the Manager, there was no manager on duty. I was handed his business card & suggested I phone him. I refused & asked to speak to someone in charge, I was then handed a phone to speak to a manager. I was offered a meal in the bar - not what I had in mind. I was very angry that we had made a booking & were just dumped. Not even a phone call to me beforehand. My advice to anyone thinking of booking this restaurant is don't do it. Eat at Sangri in Croydon where you will get an excellent indian meal with staff service to match.

First time in Croydon and having looked at this restaurant and thinking not for me, I could find no where else so returned to give it ago. Service ok, but said nothing when I left a full pint of Guiness as warm. Good was average to say the least missed the £5 rice to go with masala and opted for a garlic naan. The naan was more like a garlic pizza but ate it anyway. I'm conclusion a soulless and tasteless experience. One to avoid for me I am afraid .

The tandoori chicken is the best I have ever had and the service is very good. I enjoyed my dinner and thinking to arrange my birthday party there. One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to for sure.

I usually stay at Hampton when in Croydon and when I don't feel like going out I order the evening meal at this restaurant.It's very convenient as it's located on the 1st floor of Hampton.The food is tasty and fantastic staff.The unique negative point is that they don't offer Room service, so you need to order and collet yourself.

Been here a few times, and I keep going back. The food is amazing. The staff are all very friendly and you get service with a smile. The chef comes out to meet his customers and gives you exactly what you want. There is a variety of choices on the menu and all so tasty! Great relaxing atmosphere, it's the place I would strongly recommend! Definitely my favourite place in South!

We had visited the restaurant for a meal just before Christmas 2015 . Food and staff service was amazing .So in Jan 2016 I held my special birthday celebration with about 70 guest . The hotels entertainment team were so helpful with suggestions and planning my event extactley how I wanted it . My event was beautiful all my guest enjoyed them selfs , the staff were so good and nothing was a problem . The food was amazing !!!!I would recommend Hampton at the Hilton Croydon* As a restaurant ..... Aurthentic Indian food also serves mediterranean food* Also for anyone whom wants a personallist service with a smile . Even the Chief gets involved with suggestions it's fun

Wonderful atmosphere and welcome. Fantastic manager from Trinity College Kandy, Sri Lanka. I loved this restaurant with its authentic cooking.

Wanted to eat fast but good Indian, so I dropped by. Papadums pretty small but came with some dragon clouds and excellent sauces. Varied, vast offer ranging from Chinese to all of you can think of when you want Indian. Had delicious chicken korma and pilau rice. Good, relaxing music in the background, nice and friendly manager. Must try it out if you are in town.

I loved my meal, food and drink was amazing and my waitress Vessi was wonderful, I would take her home if I could. Don't lose her! Her customer service was out of this world.

Rally quite angry. The food was nice. The service was good. The setting ok. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS. £9 for a very basic starter. £7 for Pilate rice. £6 for half a lager. £12 for a basic curry. My wallet has just been raped. CRIMINALLY OVERPRICED. AVOID.

Meal came out from the kitchen very quickly. Very tasty curry did not disappoint. The staff are all very friendly and attentive.

Food and service is excellent, good presentation and price too. The shape of the restaurant makes it not the best of interiors, but not bad and would really recommend. The lobster curry was delicious!

The restaurant has an Indo-Chinese menu but also does more traditional English food. It is good value and well cooked. Downsides? It's a little impersonal inside and the selection of draught beers is very poor, but the staff are great.

The Indian food was fresh and extremely tasty, spiced to perfection. Very pleasant surroundings, very chilled, with great Indian dance fusion chill out music. Just shame about location unless you staying at hotel. Well worth a visit though if you like a good curry. Can't comment on the oriental menu, but probably just as good.

What this restaurant lacks in atmosphere it more than makes up for with its food.I spent four nights at the Hampton by Hilton and only found out about this restaurant on the the last night because the hotel kitchen was closed.The food was great, spicy without being overpowering. One of the best Indian meals I have eaten in a good while.

Very convenient since it was in out hotel. Great atmosphere and food was wonderful. Best of all our server was so much fun and very accommodating. Ask for Sylvia! We enjoyed her service so much! Highly recommended!

I stay in this hotel regularly and this is maybe the 6th or 7th time I've eaten here. It used to be ok save for the fact that the majority of dishes have a very similar taste and are quite overly-hot at times (black bean for example is spicy. Black bean is NOT a spicy dish). Last night, however, I waited close to half an hour for an expensive starter that consisted of THREE prawns. Tonight, it got to bang on 30 minutes for a calamari starter and I chose to leave. There were maybe 6 diners last night and a similar number tonight. Given that if you fry calamari for any more than a few minutes it would be overcooked, this is not good enough and I will not be eating here again. I like the hotel and staff so it's a shame that this restaurant has ruined it for me.

Found this wonderful restaurant right next to east croydon station serving authentic indian food at a not too bad price point - we loved our Friday hangout here. Spicy enough for us, great vegetarian options, reasonable prices -all rocked for this place except the service. Maybe because it is not popular it didn't have any trained waiters, the lady who served for us was all smiles very talkative but pretty bad in waitressing forgetting quite a number of things w asked for. Maybe next time I visit it will be better!

Had a lovely meal here while visiting family last week and will definitely be back. The staff were fantastic and a great asset to the place. They took the time to have a chat with us after our meal and added to our pleasant evening. Food was lovely. I recommend the Pepper Prawns. We tried a bit of everything and was honestly one of the best meals out I've had in a long time. I noticed they also offer a takeaway service. Look forward to coming back on my next trip to Croydon.

We're staying over for 2 nights for the SW4 Festival and thought we'd eat in tonight! Bad choice, staff were lovely but food below mediocre and my Chicken Tikka Masala was so salty I couldn't eat it! One waitress said she would take it off the bill and tell the chef and be back, but she didn't return and the other gave us 30% "complaint" discount but charged for the dish I didn't eat!! So overall I wouldn't recommend at all sadly!

On 2nd floor of hotel a relatively large restaurant serving a good mix of oriental and indian food. Service good and food good standard. Korma was very good as was tempura prawns and tandoori chicken.
