Imperial City in Hammersmith and Fulham

The restaurant is very attractive. The service was friendly and keen to please. My crab and sweetcorn soup was very tasty. Our main meals were equally delicious and generous. Recommended

Very very quiet on a weeknight which was a shame because the place is lovely. Great decor and prompt and efficient service. Food was lovely and not too badly priced for this part of London. Handy for the Hilton Doubletree and other hotels, but such a quiet area, I imagine attracting passing trade could be a struggle. Hope the locals support it though because I can’t fault it.

Delicious food! Near double tree by Hilton - Chelsea, can arrive there by walking from the hotel within 5 minutes! The Chinese food is traditional and delicious.

The food was lovely but the service on a Friday evening was appalling. Soup that we had ordered with our starters didn’t arrive and only arrived after I had questioned with staff where it was. After an hour and a half no main courses had arrived, which only finally arrived after we had queried again with the waiters. It took another 15 mins for one persons main to arrive after the other 3 of our party had their main. We felt totally ignored by the wait staff, as we were on a large table near the door that they completely ignored. I went to the bar part way through to ask for more drinks, which then didn’t arrive for over 15 mins and had to go back to the bar and ask again for them. I’m giving a generous 2 out of 5 for the food, based on service alone I’d give a minus 10.

It is always nice to have a good Chinese restaurant near your home in London and we gave Imperial City a trial. It is an amazing place with remarkable decorations. We ordered the usual food that we enjoy in Chinese restaurants and were pleased with the quality of the dishes that had been freshly cooked. Not many other diners so the service was inevitably good.

Spectacularly good. Visited with a group who have lived in and worked in Hong Kong and China and we were all blown away. Sichuan smashed cucumber, roasted duck, crispy tofu all particularly good. Don't be fooled by the slightly ordinary exterior - the decor inside is really cool. Friendly service and warm welcome from Dominic the the owner. We will be back... I am hooked.
