I recognize that this is kind of silly, but I stayed at the Saint Giles Heathrow Hotel in March of 2009 on a college trip. The Saint Giles was our last hotel before we flew home. Our bus driver, bless his heart, tried to show us around London but instead got lost. We ended up getting to the hotel extremely late--between nine and ten, if I recall correctly. The hotel restaurant Il Grasso was closing as we arrived. We hadn't had dinner yet as we'd been on the bus for hours at that point. None of us really had the energy to go out to look for food. The restaurant staff still present when we arrived was literally a manager and one cook. Those two people stayed open for several more hours so we could eat. The manager served all twenty of us while the cook got out our food astonishingly quickly, considering that they had to turn some appliances back on and also they were cooking entirely by themselves. I remember that the food was delicious and, obviously, fresh. I had spaghetti and my mother had pizza. The portions, based on what I can recall, were generous. Even more comforting was the manager's jokes and lightning-speed service. The Il Grasso staff in March 2009 was astoundingly friendly, patient, and quick. I still gush about that visit and the fun of basically having a private dinner event due to two people's kindness to a bunch of lost Americans. Obviously I can't know if either of those folks still work at Il Grasso but I hope that the restaurant continues to have that level of customer service and professionalism. Thank you to the Il Grasso for being a special part of an amazing experience!

We have stayed at the St Giles Hotel (Heathrow) on many occasions and eat in the Il Grasso Restaurant whenever we can. The service is second to none and the staff are always pleasant, but Tony stands out as a most efficient and pleasant restaurant manager. His commitment to his customers is absolute and he somehow always seems to be available whenever needed. Tony makes every dining experience an absolute pleasure.

We have travelled extensively through Italy and I have also worked there for 3 years in Milan. I know what good Italian food is. I have also done many TripAdviser reviews, and you can see I am fair and balanced and have nothing against this particular restaurant ......... We were staying at the hotel, and had checked out the very professional and upmarket website that Il Grasso has. It talked about a 'seasonal menu' and 'freshly made Italian foos' using the finest fresh ingredients, so we were quite looking forward to it. When we arrived, the staff were excellent. Each and every one gave us a cheery hello and were very welcoming and friendly. I should have thought something was wrong when I noticed that the restaurant looked nothing at all like the photos on the website. It's definitely the same place, but somebody did a very good job on the photography .... because the actual place looked like a prison canteen. To be fair, it was New Years Day so maybe they had a big function on the previous night and hadn't put everything back in place etc I asked the Maitre D if the pizzas were thick crust, and he told me 'no, they are thin crust and proper Italian pizza'. Excellent I thought. We both ordered a pizza, and got a bit suspicious when we could see the chef in the pass receiving what looked like a pre-made pizza and then just banging it into a standard oven (no proper pizza oven). It was quite hard to hear anything because of the death metal that was playing super loudly in his kitchen area. Our food arrived and I can quite honestly say they were the second worst pizzas I have ever had in my entire life (beaten only by a rural kebab house in Somerset) The base was thick, soggy and cold in the middle and had been clearly frozen. The mozzarella was salty and very cheap poor quality. Even the onions on it weren't fresh, they were the prepared ones that come in big jars from Brake Brothers. The tomato paste had been bought in. My wife, who was starving, was physically unable to eat hers. That is seriously unusual! Nobody asked us what our meal was like so we had to call our waiter over. He admitted to us that bases were bought in ... what Italian restaurant whose website talks about 'seasonal menus' and 'fresh food' BUYS IN PIZZA BASES AND EVEN THE TOPPINGS? He took the pizza away and didn't charge us for them. While we were there we noticed that all the customers were airport travellers who are only there for one night, so I guess the restaurant can just feed them cheap crap and never have to worry about returning trade. The pasta dishes coming out to them looked like overlooked slop, and many meals were being sent back. The staff didn't seem surprised so maybe this is a common occurrence. Absolutely terrible food, do not eat here. It really was among the worst meals we have ever had the misfortune of being served. Who on earth are the reviewers giving high marks for this place. Very suspicious.

This was the worst ever spaghetti carbonara in the world ever. A bowl of very al dente spaghetti, drowned in oil with some overcooked bacon that a whole bowl of parmesan could not save. This is a dreadful place to eat. We went as a family of 12, we ordered starters, garlic bread was ok, the pate looked like a slice of cat food and was immediately sent back. Oddly enough there was no protest from the staff, indicating perhaps that this is a regular occurrence. None of us really ate the food, the bread was good, so we ate that instead. I believe that they were more focussed on the set meal for the coach tours that were arriving, it looked like it might have been ok. I felt sorry for the staff as they had to clear away partially eaten food, it was really that bad. I was terribly disappointed as I had read reviews saying the carbonarra was good, well I can assure you, firstly they had no clue how to make it and secondly it was not. Sad, as potentially there is an Italian restaurant on the doorstep, but we will not be going back.

A work anniversary saw our return to Il Grasso, probably our favourite Feltham venue, for lunch. As a hotel restaurant, I am sure that it is extremely busy in the morning and evening as tourists to London stoke up and then return after a hectic day. However, we have only visited for lunch and it provides a very relaxing and peaceful oasis yet is only 5 minutes walk from the nearby Feltham town centre and rail station, a direct line into London's Waterloo. My starter of smoked salmon was fresh and delicious, as was my dining companion's choice of squid. On to the mains! My companion's spaghetti carbonara - his stock favourite! - was both perfect and plentiful, defeating even his healthy appetite. My beef lasagne was delicious, as ever, indeed almost as good as my own recipe - high praise! - but had been exposed to their overhead heater awaiting 'service' for a little longer than planned so was a little overly crisp on top than I would have preferred, hence one star marked down from an otherwise 'Excellent' review! However, that did not detract in any way from the taste. Delicious! A bottle of Peroni and a large glass of the house red finished off a very enjoyable hour - and meal! Our visits to Il Grasso are fairly irregular but, when the occasion arises, it's our first choice as we are always assured of a warm welcome and a hugely enjoyable dining experience.

My co-worker and I settled on Il Grasso for our final lunch of the 2018 calendar year. Whilst I'm never overly keen on hotel restaurants, Il Grasso, within the St Giles Hotel, has been a favourite of ours for a number of years. We've only ever eaten at lunch times so can't vouch for meals served at any other time of the day. The restaurant is a real oasis of peace and quiet and, as we were the only diners there, clearly a well kept secret in this busy town. The decor and restaurant furnishings have recently undergone a complete makeover, increasing the restaurant's capacity in light of the hotel extension that opened a year or so ago. I imagine that St Giles Hotel is a modestly priced stop over for tourist groups who commute into Waterloo in 30 minutes from the nearby Feltham Rail Station or who are en route to Heathrow via the nearby bus service. To lunch! My starter of smoked salmon, plain and simple with a squeeze of lemon juice, was delicious. My co-diner's 'default' spaghetti carbonara was 'absolutely delicious' as was my 'usual' piping hot beef lasagne. No desserts - main portions are more than satisfying! - one beer and one glass of the house red produced a bill of £36. Service is welcoming, discreet and attentive. Yet another successful visit to Il Grasso! See you in 2019!

I stayed for 3 nights at the St Giles last week, so decided to eat in Il Grasso to avoid having to go out. The First night I ordered room service, and settled on the Chicken Lasagne which sounded good, and some garlic bread. The garlic bread was like cardboard and stone cold, and the lasagne was a sloppy mushy mess that tasted vile. I thought I'd give it another go on the second night and ordered the Pollo Milano. The chicken was pleasant and well cooked, but the sauce was resembled a rich gravy, the vegetables were boring and undercooked and the potatoes were pretty much raw. On the flip side, I wasn't planning on eating there on the last night, however got dragged into the restaurant by my colleague who'd arrived that day. The service was fantastic and very attentive. I had the Steak with mushroom sauce and it was very good, cooked as ordered and the sauce was delicious. So 1 good meal out of 3...

After another 20 minutes we still had not received our meal so we asked again and eventually it came. I had the chicken in garlic and cream sauce with sauté potatoes. The chicken was like rubber it had hardly and sauce and the 4 small roast not sauted potatoes where rock hard. Its got to be one of the worse meals and service I have ever experienced.

An end of school year lunch took us back to our favourite Feltham restaurant - Il Grasso. Sited inside the newly refurbished and recently redeveloped St Giles Hotel, this restaurant makes an ideal lunch time venue. The restaurant has been expended to accommodate the new additional hotel wing so I would imagine that it is extremely busy with visiting tourists for breakfast and dinner. However, on every lunch time visit we have made, it is blissfully quiet - no more than 8 other diners - yet is only 5 minutes' walk from Feltham's bustling town centre. The Italian menu is simple, the quality of the food excellent, all freshly cooked to order in the open plan kitchen. I opted for the smoked salmon starter, served plain but on a mound of unnecessary and uneaten watercress. I went on to the battered cod and chips with peas, again all freshly cooked and piping hot. My dining colleague opted for his default spaghetti carbonara, a particular favourite. Portions are more than generous so arrive hungry! A bottle of Peroni and a large glass of the chilled house white brought the bill comfortably under £40. Definitely not our last visit to this oasis of tranquillity.

A combination of two birthdays - a business and a colleague - led us back to one of our favourite restaurants in Feltham. Since our last visit, the restaurant within the St Giles Hotel had undergone a major face lift. I imagine that this was due to the opening of the new hotel annexe, which would have put pressure on the dining room for breakfast and dinner guests. Out with the rather dated planted island units and furniture and in with a new open plan ambience with new dining tables and chairs. The food has not suffered in the transformation and the restaurant is always very quite during lunch as I imagine most pots-breakfast guests probably head into London for the day since the hotel is nly a few minutes walk from Feltham mainline station into Waterloo. Warm and very moreish bread rolls and butter arrived with our friendly waiter and were consumed whilst we waited for our starters. My smoked salmon was creamy, plentiful and tasty, if perhaps served on a somewhat unnecessary mound of water cress. My colleague's squid rings were 'absolutely delicious' apparently. On to our mains, my co-diner's spaghetti carbonara was 'creamy', the pasta 'cooked perfectly'. My beef lasagne was very tasty but had lingered slightly too long under a grill or a heat lamp to the point of being 'crisp'. However, the sauce, whilst a little dry, was delicious, ALMOST as good as my own! No room for puddings. All washed down with two Peronis and large glasses of the house red and white. I cannot attest for the restaurant for breakfasts and dinners but our many visits during lunch have provided a welcome oasis of quiet in an otherwise bustling town. We will definitely return.

Myself (23) and my colleague (25) ate here after a long day at work. We are Hospitality Managers. What a bad decision. Firstly we were greeted in a basic manner, as apposed to the respectable welcoming manner any older guests were greeted with. The manager 'Tony' sat us down and I asked him for a children's menu'. When ready to place our order I asked for 2 meals off the children's menu. I was told by the manager that it was only for children. I went on to explain that I have a very small appetite and don't like anything fancy as all the meals on the Italian menu I knew I wouldn't like. I also explained how 2 children's meals totalled £12 and most adult meals were around £7-9 so I would be spending more money. He told me again, no. I then asked for a few more minutes to re look over the menu. When returning I ordered the spaghetti bolognese wth the manager, and asked if it was possible to have a side order of bread and butter. He said 'you've already had bread' (referring to the 3 bread rolls we received on sitting). I explained I meant sliced bread, and that I would pay for it ofcourse. He then gave me a weird look and tutted, but said yes. I was brought up in a family home where my dad used to cook meals like spaghetti bolognese all the time, we are not posh people, and like most English people make a sandwich out of everything. When my meal arrived I put some 'spag bol' on my bread and began to eat. The chef (who I'm assuming was head chef as just stood around doing nothing but touching his face while the other chef ran around preparing all the meals) began to stare at me whilst I was eating. Feeling very uncomfortable I tried to not pay attention and enjoy my meal. I then looked up again and he was still staring and smiling. He then called over the manager and the bar man and started to speak to them. One by one they all stared at me. After they left, the chef began to laugh whilst still staring at me and walked away. I felt extremely uncomfortable and stopped eating my meal. Whilst sat waiting to be cleared another couple were sat next to us. They received friendly conversation and 6 bread rolls (same size party). The waiting staff and manager were extremely attentive to these guests who I got the impression were regulars. After waiting and waiting we decided to get up for the bill. We were spoke to very briefly and abruptly. The manager made it quite clear he did not like us. I have never in my life been refused a meal due to my age, and I find this disgusting! And I'm not sure that the way we're were treated was due to us being 'young' or for the fact I had bread and butter with my meal (like a real midlander) but it was not acceptable and I would never in my treat any customer in any of my restaurants like that. I believe we 'go the extra mile' for our guests, not judge someone on their age, sex, looks, race etc. I have had few bad restaurant experiences, and none of them have ever upset me enough to write to the head office or TripAdvisor. But in the case, I felt I needed to express my disappointment.

The large dining room has a very industrial look to it. The food was OK (certainly nothing to write home about) and the service was average. But what I did not like was getting a machine generated bill that included not only the price of the food, but also an item which read "10% Optional Service". Somehow, when an "optional" service charge appears on the bill, it seems like the charge is a lot less than optional. Poor form.

A Christmas lunch took us back to Il Grasso - Italian for the politically incorrect 'the fat'! - a lunchtime favourite for my business companion and I, just 5 minutes walk from Central Feltham and 3 minutes from Feltham Station. Arriving around 13:00, as we usually do, the restaurant is always quiet, very spacious and the staff very welcoming. My dining companion opted for his usual 'spaghetti carbonara and Perroni' combination as he believes that their carbonara is one of THE best that he has even tasted. My spaghetti Bolognese was, as always, delicious - almost as good as my own - almost! - served piping hot and washed down with a reasonably priced and very acceptable glass of the house red. The spaghetti, in both cases, was perfectly prepared and just 'al dente' when it can often - and easily - be overcooked. If you're shopping in Feltham and are looking for a quiet oasis in a busy town centre, Il Grasso will tick your boxes.

Il Grasso - translated from Italian as 'fat', an unusual nomenclature for a restaurant! - is a good, basic, no frills Italian restaurant, situated within 5 minutes' walk of Feltham Town Centre, Feltham Railway Station and contained within the St Giles Hotel, a popular budget hotel. A birthday celebration brought us back to Il Grasso for lunch. If you are looking for a quiet oasis in a busy town centre for a lunch time drink, coffee, snack or meal, Il Grasso fits the bill. Other than two ladies, who appeared to be hotel employees, we were the only two diners in the entire restaurant so it was blissfully quiet. Thankfully, no background musak so plenty of opportunities to chat. There is an optional and limited lunch time menu - I have not eaten in Il Grasso in the evening when, I imagine, it must be much busier - although the full a la carte is also available. The menu is not limited to Italian staples and carries other family favourite dishes like fish and chips, a curry or two and hamburgers. I chose the pollo con fungi - chicken breast in a creamy mushroom sauce with dauphinoise potatoes, broccoli and carrots, all freshly cooked, almost in front of you, in the open-plan kitchen. My colleague opted for his 'default' dish - spaghetti carbonara, a particular favourite of his. As a very seasoned pasta eater, he assures me that Il Grasso's carbonara is unlike any other he has tried. Temptations to try other dishes on the menu are always overcome by his fondness for their carbonara. Service was prompt, friendly and unobtrusive. We skipped desserts, which are invariably uninspiring in any Italian restaurant. Portions are more than generous, especially for lunch, and very good value for money. Including a beer, a large glass of the house red and an espresso, our bill came to £30. I have read some very wide-ranging reviews of Il Grasso and simply don't recognise the restaurant of which they write. Still, each to their own.

The food looked presentable however, the quality of the potatoes was very bad and I could not eat them as they had a rubber-like chewy texture. This was unacceptable as it was half of my meal. I told my waiter this and he then offered me a glass of wine which to my surprise had been watered down considerably. Additionally, as the only guests in the restaurant at the time, the service was very poor and my partner and I found it difficult to attract the attention of a waiter on more than one occasion. I was not expecting great quality for the price, however, I was very disappointed at the quality of the food and also the service which we received.

As we were staying in the hotel we decided to try the restaurant, especially as we are all fans of the Italian cuisine. Unfortunately, I have never tasted such disgusting food in all my life. My starter was just some chopped tomatoes on the same bread rolls which were on the table, not a bruschetta as described on the menu. I ordered my all time favourite of spaghetti aglio, olio e pepperoncino, but it was inedible. The pasta had a terrible smell to it like the oil had been used before, it certainly was not extra virgin olive oil as it said on the menu. I took one mouthful and couldn't eat it as it tasted so bad. This was not the only thing, my husband's meal was bad as was my step son's. Although we kept being offered something else instead of what was inedible, I really did not want to try any more of this disgusting food. All in all, it was HORRIBLE

The food on the photographs looked nice, and the menu seemed quite varied. We sat down, placed our orders and that was when the comedy of errors started.I had ordered garlic mushrooms on crostini, what I got was tinned sliced mushrooms, with a few garlic slices mixed in, on top of lightly toasted bread rolls (the exact same ones that were on the table) after pushing it around the plate for a bit, my server asked if I would like to change it, so I then ordered the chicken skewers with a spicy tomato sauce. When these came they were quite dry and could have been frozen, then warmed up., Needless to say neither myself, or my son finished them.My wife had ordered the bruschcetta, what she got was chopped tomatoes on the same lightly toasted bread rolls, again, not finished. My wife has a particular fondness for spaghetti, with olive oil, garlic and chilli flakes, unfortunately what she got left a lot to be desired, firstly it smelled quite funny, and tasted even funnier, she declined to eat, was offered an alternative but declined. My main course was supposed to have been a home made Aberdeen Angus and Ale pie, what I got initially was a cheese pie, which was then changed for a meat pie. The pastry was raw on the sides, the meat bland, tasteless and lacking any ale, but there was a bowl of gravy on the side (yes a small soup bowl). When I declined this, we were offered, yet again an alternative, but by this time we had just given up. We asked for the bill, and it was a nice gesture that the food had been removed, and we only paid for the drinks, but we all went to bed very hungry. My son did not finish his lasagne, which is one of his favourite meals.I would like to say that this was instantly forgettable food, but unfortunately the following day we had what could only be descried as an "adverse" reaction. The food for the breakfast buffet was along a similar vein, we tried it, left most and left feeling quite unhappy. This may have been a one off, but having read further reviews, I don't think so.It was, most definitely the worst food I have had in a very, very long time.

I was already staying at the St Giles Hotel, Heathrow and decided against my better judgement to eat in the hotel restaurant. First impressions was I called my wife and told her I was in a refectory but here goes, Lol!The staff were surprisingly attentive and it was an Italian themed restaurant so I had the polpette meatballs, pasta and tomato sauce, I asked for a small amount of fresh chillies to be added. I actually received a minute amount of chilli, two very tiny pieces of chilli. The meals was actually very good no parmesan was offered but I received black pepper. Had a nice apple dessert with cream and cool lager so my evening was fine. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying their pasta, pizza and other meals so it was good.Attended the same restaurant for breakfast it was horrible so you cannot tell, did not have room service which I believe is a mistake in this sort of hotel.

My co-worker and I visited Il Grasso for lunch with a colleague to discuss a potential business proposition. Having visited the restaurant previously on one occasion, we were relatively sure that the restaurant would be quiet for lunch - which it was! - an ideal ambience for our chat. It has to be said that service, on the two occasions that we have dined there, has been somewhat clinical but certainly efficient. There is no over friendliness or familiarity but, personally, that is something that I welcome in preference to the sometimes sickly obsequiousness that can be found in some restaurants where staff greet diners like they were long lost friends, despite never having previously met them. Service was also not overly fussy since the waiter could see that we wished to chat, easily done if diners are observed by waiting staff to see if they are studying menus or not. Waiting staff in other restaurants take note! Bread and butter arrived promptly as did our choice of drinks - a very acceptable Pinot Grigio and an ultra ice cold Peroni. We skipped starters and went straight for the mains - two of us had the herbed chicken and my co-worker - a very fussy pasta eater - chose the spaghetti carbonara. All three mains arrived promptly with appropriate side dishes, were piping hot and absolutely delicious - no complaints all round. Our guest could not decide which dessert to have - the profiteroles or the tiramisu. The waiter suggested a mixed dessert of both! No problem! We rounded off the meal with coffees, again served piping hot. This restaurant won't win any awards or Michelin stars for its cuisine but, again, it doesn't profess to offer fine dining. This was good solid Italian fare, well cooked and at a more than acceptable price and in a blissfully quiet lunch time ambience. This was not our first visit to Il Grasso and it certainly won't be our last. I would stress that I have not previously dined at this restaurant in the evening when, I imagine, it might be much busier than at lunch.

I was staying at the St Giles Hotel so I decided to get room service from this restaurant. I ordered chicken wings and pasta with prawns, when they arrived to my room both dishes were stone cold. I rang down and told the waiter (politely) that my food which had just been delivered was cold, he seemed irritated and told me someone would come collect it and hung up on me without even an apology. I then decided that I wanted to switch my main dish (the prawns that were used were very obviously cheap frozen prawns) so I rang back straight away and asked would he mind switching my main dish to a different pasta dish for the same price. He got very angry at this, gave out to me for complaining about the food in the first place and told me that the other pasta dish would be even colder than the one I just returned. When I asked him why he told me that by the time I finished eating my chicken wings the pasta would be cold anyway. I told him that it didn't matter what order I ate my food in all that matters is that it is warm when it arrives. He then brushed me off with 'fine it will be' and hung up the phone. After all that, when the food arrived it was average at best. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The terrible service is not worth the average food.

After reading the reviews here my partner and I were excited to be vising this restaurant, especially as it's on our door step. It didn't start well when we walked in and was told that there was no reservation noted, despite my calling only 24 hours before. We were however given a table due to the restaurant being empty. I didn't like the fact that the restaurant is open planned with the bar, which was showing football to a rather rowdy crowd of guests (there's a time and a place, and an Italian restaurant is definitely neither). We were given menus to choose our meals from (just A4 pieces of paper); once the waiter returned to take our order my partner requested one of the two Salmon dishes, at which point we were told there is no Salmon - this should have been highlighted when we were given our menus surely. The meals did arrive quickly and were very nice, followed by a shared desert and coffee. The bill was delivered, minus any mints or chocolates and we were told that they do not have the facilities to add Gratuity to credit card payment, so none was left. All-in-all, I was very disappointed and will not be returning or recommending.

I stayed for 1 night at the St Giles Hotel, which was not a great experiance.Located in the Hotel is this (hidden gem) Italian restaurant. Next to receptionThe food is fantastic, the service very welcoming and friendly, you can see your food cooked in he open plan kitchen, by the 2 chefs. The area was well laid out, the seating comfortable, with a large picture of London on the far wall. The special menu was really good, as suggested by Ana the waitress.Dont miss out, have your meal here, if you are staying in the St Giles Hotel

This oasis of Italian professionalism can be found in the St. Giles Hotel, Feltham. The food is delicious, the service is top-notch and the open grill provides fabulous cabaret for diners! The decor is typically hotel-ish, but the great service and food certainly makes up for it. The cabaret is provided by the 2 chefs cooking and presenting the food - they obviously enjoy their jobs! The staff here actually care about what they're doing and this certainly comes across in the restaurantSo - the next time you're in Feltham and you're looking for somewhere to eat - look no further than Il Grasso!!

Una pequeña rebanada de pizza con pocos aborígenes de casi 7 libras, para llevar. Y no me importaría que fuera bueno, pero era absolutamente insípido. Realmente me sentí estúpido todo el día por lo que compré.

Extremely rude and ignorant on the phone. The Indian guy hangs up and doesn’t answer enquiries. Disgusting
