Il Giglio in Cardiff

Really tasty fresh Italian food. We all ordered different mains and everyone was delighted with their food. Apple pie and coffee semifredo were dessert highlights. Great value and service too.

Review of first visit 1st visit:Small Italian restaurant with a real Italian atmosphere. Good choice menu meeting most people's modern needs. Ok drinks choices. I had the Seabass, nice thick fillet with seasonal vegetables. Would visit again. 3rd visit. Restaurant still very good. Had Tuna this time with a really nice sauce, new potatoes, stem broccoli and carrots. Also had this dish on the second visit, which says how nice it is. Friendly staff. Special looked and sounded nice. Restaurant clean and tidy. Looking forward to visiting again.

By far the best Italian around. Family run, clean, beautiful food. My new favourite eatery. Thank you for opening up, I needed this in my life!!!

Outstanding starter, mains and dessert. The vegetables were so fresh it was as if they picked them themselves. We were both delighted with our meals, especially our mains. The flavours of the dishes served were brilliant. We will definitely return to try something else!

We are Londoners visiting wales as we have a project in the area. Nothing but exceptional, the staff are very friendly and most importantly attentive at providing its customers an authentic Italian experience. The food is fresh and well served. 5/5. Would recommend!

Excellent! What a treasure of a find! We had an impromptu mid-week dinner in this restaurant and we were blown away by how fantastic it was. We received a warm welcome from staff and the place had a lovely atmosphere. It’s clean and bright restaurant to eat in, and the menu range is superb! I’m a real foodie - I love good quality ingredients, authentic cooking and great flavours, so I was in ‘my happy place’ when we found il Giglio. Great to see lots of fresh fish and seafood options on the menu - something that’s rare in Cardiff these days. I could have picked from several great fish dishes, but on this occasion had the ox cheek pasta; my partner had sea bass ravioli. We had plenty of beautiful wine which went well with our food choices. We also had tiramisu and coffees to finish. I rarely drink coffee, but the decaf cappuccino was so good, I will be having it again. I would highly recommend il Giglio! It’s going on my top 20 places to eat in Cardiff. :o) Well done il Giglio! Great restaurant. We’ll be back!

Super gluten free pizza. Friendly staff and lovely food just 10 minute walk from home. Love the fact that the food is authentic Italian. Will return soon.

Service was fine. It's a fairly basic restaurant deco-wise. More of an upmarket cafe. But that's not what we go there for. My son had a Hawaiian pizza. That was the best meal of the three of us. I had a seafood linguine. Clams muscles and prawns with linguine in a tomato sauce. There was nothing overly wrong with it. The pasta was overcooked. The sauce was in my opinion very bland. Just simple under seasoned chopped tomatoes. I doubt we'd go again.

Will be going back for a regular ladies what lunch date, lovely place x

My partner and I have been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for a few months, and it more than lived up to expectations! The Tuscan family who run this restaurant are very welcoming, and also have great knowledge in regards to all aspects of food and wine queries that you may have. Superb fresh produce are used to create beautiful authentic Italian food by this lovely family, at a very reasonable price to boot! Only one slight negative, and that is the lighting in the restaurant, my partner and I found it way too bright, if it could just be toned down a little for better ambience, this would have been a perfect evening, dining at a fantastic restaurant. That minor detail aside, I can say that this restaurant is more than highly recommended!

Clean and organised ..lighting a little bright .. background music a little jangly but the presentation and food was great .. probably the best Spaghetti carbonara I have ever had ..thank you😀

Been meaning to try this place for ages and really pleased that we finally got around to it. Service is very friendly and helpful, food is excellent with good quality ingredients (we had beef carpaccio to start, then sea bass for me and linguini mare for my wife plus tiramisu for dessert). Very nice atmosphere too and it didn't break the bank. We'll be going back for more. Highly recommended.

This is a superb hidden gem of an Italian restaurant. I’ve been for lunch here a few times now and the food is excellent.

We were lucky to get a table for the NYE tasting menu, fantastic value! The food kept on coming, not the usual tiny portions you would normally get on a tasting menu but dish after dish of wonderful flavours. The scallops in particular were delicious. Excellent service, even though the restaurant was absolutely full. Lovely family vibe to the place. Very reasonable would recommend!

This put me back in Sorrento for the whole time I was eating. We were a party of 6 and every one of us loved every course. They were perfectly ok with my nut allergy and the food was served quickly. It is a small but beautiful place with wonderful food. If you want a taste of authentic Italian food I will always recommend here now, it is one of the closest to Italian food I've experienced in the UK.

Had alovely meal Saturday ñight with family . The food was well presented and full of flavour. The staff were friendly and food reasonably priced. Only criticism they had ran out of a lot of the desserts so not alot of choice .

Our first visit did not disappoint . I particularly enjoyed the amatriciana al cinghiale - pasta with lovely tomato sauce with boar cheek meat and chilli . My companions enjoyed their fish stew . All washed down with a reasonably priced and delicious Primitvo. A good selection of semi freddi to finish and all within staggering distance of home ! We will certainly return . Diolch

Our first visit tonight and i must say this new italian restaurant is superb. The decor was ultra modern and had a nice italian feel to it. The menu was great with a wide range of italian dishes. The staff were very knowledgable, friendly and helpful also. Most importantly the food was delicious, everything from the starters to the pasta was perfect. If you love italian food then i highly recommend you paying a visit to IL Giglio. 10/10 keep up the great work!

Talking as an Italian, this place remembered me Italy...food taste like i've been at home in Val di Chiana, the service Is perfect and the personal have knowledge about all italian dishes and traditions. Talking to the owner i've I found out he was Italian and he recently opened the restaurant moved here from Italy. I highly recommend the restaurant and as they say in Italian 'Questo ristorante è il fiore all'occhiello di tutta Cardiff' Voto 10/10 + stella Michelin
