FIRST TIME TO WAKEFIELD Amazing, we were taken downstairs to the exclusive Ico bar in restaurant. Jake the barman was fantastic, informative, conscientious and friendly not sure what else he vould do to be perfect. Thanks Jake for you time and effort. Thanks to Tom for the blend of rhubarb cocktail invention (as per Jake's mention) well done all!

I booked a bottomless for 23 People on a late Saturday afternoon in January. Everyone was so impressed with the look of the venue, the food, drinks and the service. From start to finish the staff could not be anymore accommodating. The food options and portion size were fabulous, compared to other bottomless brunches in other venues. My only small negative was the options for cocktails, possibly something not as sweet, a mojito maybe would be a great addition. We'll be back again very soon.

Came in with a group of friends for a meal having not seen them all for a very long time. The staff were lovely and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed my food. The cocktail I had was also wonderful. Would definitely recommend!

To call this a restaurant is a joke. Kids waiting on who haven't a clue what they're doing. Manager with a really chippy attitude. Cold food, wrong dishes served. A complete shambles, hot, noisy, cramped. Really, really awful. Avoid.

I made a booking for Friday 14th a table for 2. This booking was confirmed by email. I just received a voicemail asking if I wanted to move my booking up to qubana as my booking had been cancelled to accommodate a larger group booking!! This is quite simply ridiculous and I can only hope that the money you have gained from treating me like this is somewhat negated by the number of people that read this review and opt for another restaurant. Book somewhere else people or risk being dissapointed. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional.

Pros - The atmosphere is very nice and dimly lit. The staff were great and friendly but not in your face. Good speed of service and the music was great. Portion size on nachos was a lot bigger than I was expecting. The cod melted like butter! Cons - Food was a bit bland - we ordered lots of different dishes and we thought everything needed more seasoning/flavour. We thought the price was slightly too much for what you got as well. Although the margaritas were pleasant, we all thought they’d been watered down. They tasted a bit like a mix you add tequila to which is disappointing at £8.50 per drink. We eat a lot of Mexican food in our family so expected more flavour wise. We all had an nice time and glad we experienced it as there aren’t many Mexican /Latin American restaurants in Wakefield but wouldn’t go again - but thats not to say that others wouldn’t enjoy it though.

Chicken bowl (sounds bland, looks and tastes superb, especially the awesome lime slaw), excellent (optionally gluten free) tinga burrito, drinks and a slightly pricey g-free dessert sourced from the much louder Qubana upstairs venue’s menu, all for forty quid. Not cheap, but truly excellent. Top marks also for great service (from Tyrone I think), intimately small revamped bank basement decor, and the hilarious mariachi soundtrack, taking everyone’s fave pop / rock classics and murdering them, but in an appropriately good way. Watch out for the dodgy lift, but do visit. Highly recommended, especially for a leisurely Saturday lunch. Whoever said it’s grim up north was wrong. Bravo.

I so badly wanted this place to be as good as it's counterparts, Fino and Qubana, but it badly needs better air circulation and better air con. Basically because it's in the old bank safe/vault, the place is like a furnace and the poor staff that work in the kitchen, it's unbearable in my opinion. You take a tiny lift down, which is cool, but breaks and we got stuck lol, but it's quirky. If you're claustrophobic avoid the lift. When you reach the basement, you walk into a tiny corridor that basically is the back of the oven, which is ridiculously hot. Then you walk past the pass where the kitchen is, and into the restaurant. It's probably no bigger than 8 tables, so really intimate. This place could/should be quite cool, there's good music, the decor still has the original safe doors and you can see where everything used to be when Qubana above, was a bank. The food was tasty, a nice authentic Mexican, and it served great cocktails. The baja tortillas need some spice or guac in them, but everything else was delish. The staff were lovely too. But the owner has got to invest in better air con and vents to clear the air, and needs to fix that lift, as it's really quite uncomfortable and you can't stay too long, which is a shame.

Amazing service, decor and atmosphere but food was a complete let down. Super bland, under seasoned with no Mexican love. A real shame, expected a lot more.

When you are led down into the basement it isn't the most pleasant experience. The decor is a mixture between South America, Carribbean and Mexican but class themselves as Mexican. Menu is basic but food was tasty and drinks made well. The light fittings were slightly annoying as we and staff kept hitting our heads on them. Wine wasn't stored well and had to send back. Glasses didn't match. Your friend would have a goblet of wine and you would have a stem wine glass. Staff were wonderful though. Highlight of the trip.

The most BASIC version of "Mexican" I've ever had. I hope the feedback is taken on board. But really, it's not difficult to do this food well. We were the only table in. There were 6 of us. I don't plan to return. Quesadillas were literally a wrap with dry meat and cheese. A couple of the quarters was mostly empty wrap with a lump of filling towards the middle. Fish tacos were slightly better in terms of filling, but the fish was tasteless and mushy. Honestly, we've made better fish tacos at home with fish fingers. Burritos were the best thing on the table but they were unremarkable. We did raise issue with the two worst mains and appreciated the friendly approach of the staff.

This is a lovely little Mexican, nice atmosphere, great food, good price and very friendly and attentive staff. The nachos and beef quesadilla were my favourite! The chips are rather spicy if you don’t like spice I would ask for them unseasoned.
