Hyltons in South Lakeland

Absolutely fantastic food both times we visited. Service was great and lovely restaurant. Will definitely return on our next visit to Boweness.

Driving through Bowness on Saturday night we saw a queue for the restaurant, looking for somewhere to eat on Sunday night we decided to give it a try. We got a table no problem! We ordered the Tomahawk steak to share, a ribeye and a Halloumi burger, it was all lovely, the staff were friendly and attentive. I’d definitely recommend the place.

We stumbled across Hyltons with no reservation after walking 3 hours in the rain and they accommodated my husband and I even though we didn’t have a booking right beside the radiator and took our wet clothes from us (they even had to mop up around us - sorry!) I had the beef pie and my husband the lamb hotpot and we both agreed it was some of the nicest pub food we’ve eaten honestly couldn’t fault it other than my personal preference would be to have a little more gravy. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were great. Would highly recommend if visiting the area!

Wanted to try this restaurant after reading loads of positive reviews I had seen on Trip Advisor...my only worry was that we wouldn't get in!! We needn't have worried..we arrived to find it busy but with space to spare. We were warmly welcomed and given the menu...our waiter was amazing...so kind and courteous. We had garlic dough balls with garlic dip to start...the best I have ever tasted by far!!!I then had the chicken and my husband had the swordfish...again absolutely amazing.We enjoyed our wine and finished off with cocktails. We were really impressed ,the price was beyond reasonable and we will definitely return to this gem of a restaurant.

Fabulous place to dine. We were staying at Angel Inn for 3 nights and after having a shocking meal there we remembered we’d been to Hyltons on previous visits. Staff very friendly and attentive. Great menu selection. We had the seabass special which was perfect and followed that with chocolate nut sundae. Amazing. Second night we’d the pie. Really meaty and a good selection of vegetable. If you want a good meal at a reasonable price then this is the place to go.

What a great little gem this place is, the staff are lovely and very accommodating. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. You don't need to wait too long for your meals. You get amazing quality food for a fraction of the price at some top end restaurants. My other half and I had to find somewhere to eat that wasn't our hotel and we are so glad we found this place.

Just wanted to come on here and say that the service was impeccable and ismael was a very gracious host and the steak is incredible, the main reason for this review is the great service but also the way ismael handled a drunk buffoon who will probably write a terrible review. Ismael did nothing but think of everyone’s dining experience and handled that absolute donkey very well if we are ever here again we will certainly come back here for the food and the service . If you’re reading this donkey stay at home next time, you know who you are mr yellow beanie 😁

We were lucky enough to get a table at the Hyltons on a busy Monday afternoon after seeing how busy it was on previous days we’d tried to get in. The staff were friendly and the service was super quick despite it being really busy. We had steak and it was cooked to perfection and was one of the tastiest we’d ever tried. The peppercorn sauce was creamy and the dressing on the salad was delicious also. We’d love to go back when we’re next on holiday in Windermere. Can see why it’s such a popular location.

We dropped in here in a wet Saturday afternoon for a late lunch with 2 young children (5&2). We were able to get a table straight away. The menu had a great variety of items in it and the children’s menu was good too. The beef and ale pie was tasty although hotter than the sun as they always are. The children’s burger looked good and the whole thing was eaten up as was the fish and chips. We would visit again and would recommend

Absolutely amazing food. We had calamari and seafood tempura to start and chicken wings very flavoursome and lovely salad on the side. Then tomahawk for main with all the sides. The sauces were amazing and the onion rings and sweetcorn the whole thing was delicious. We would really recommend. The ribs were also stunning. Service was lovely. Thanks so much.

Best meal of our three day visit to the area. Sea bass was best I’ve had for a long time and very generous portions. Very friendly service and will certainly visit again

We came on Monday evening on the off chance that a table was available the restaurant was very busy and very nice decor inside .we had not been before so decided to have carbonara and beef ragu My partner said his Carbonara was average my ragu didn't have much meat and wasn't very warm no parmason was offered.The restaurant is no good for anyone with mobility problems as there are two steep steps to the entrance with no handrail which I thought would be essential and the toilets were up stairs

Had dinner here, good choice of menu, shared baked Camembert, then ribs and pulled pork burger all very tasty, but food could have hotter and felt a little rushed too. Glass of Rioja not pleasant not sure what it was but not Rioja!

This was one of the finest meals I’ve ever eaten in bowness. I’ve had many a meal in bowness , however this meal was the best I’ve ever had anywhere in bowness. Started with a bowl of mussels in a lovely sauce, excellent , could have ate them again. Main was sea bass with potatoes and sauce, again excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient. Strongly recommend this restaurant.

Great food. Had the halloumi starter (very big portion). Then mussels for my main. Absolutely full the top with mussels in a creamy white wine sauce. Only criticism was the sauce was a little too salty. Definitely recommend!

This was a hilarious experience, starting with the website that states they have tables for walk-ins. We duly “walked-in” and we were greeted with lots of tutting and sighs and eventually told we could have “the small table over there for walk-ins”. The table seated two and there were two of us so I’m not sure why the point was made that it was small, but we thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone else go through the same scenario over the next hour. The food is like average pub food in a restaurant setting. The mussels were tiny but the sauce was great, and the halloumi special was anything but, the beef rib tasted pre cooked then microwaved and the seafood pasta was well stocked with pasta and very little else, but what little seafood there was likely came from a frozen packet. Nothing here is bad but it certainly isn’t great, it does what it says on the tin and doesn’t aspire to go beyond this.

A great find for us walking around Bowness. The restaurant looked great from the outside and we found it even better set out when we ventured in. A lovely place. It was just after noon when we were the 2nd or 3rd customers in to partake in our lunch. A rather good snacky menu was shown to us which we decided on to order sandwiches. We both opted for the tuna mayonnaise, one set on white and the other brown bread. Both breads were like home baked bread, very nice and fluffy with excellent fillings of the tuna which seemed a lovely quality. The side salad was furnished with a great dressing making the lunch time snack excellent. The waiting on staff were polite and served us with just the right amount of freindliness and efficiency. All in all very nice place with nothing to say negatively, all positives.

We all enjoyed the experience at this restaurant food and service was very good ,we started with potato wedges which included salad and a dip also hillumi on crustini with carelamised onions .would be happy to call agian when next in the area

Can’t understand how we have missed this jewel…first time diners and the food and service were absolutely excellent…I got the buffalo wings for starters and then turned up without buffalo sauce on them…but they didn’t need it…they were tangy and the cooked to perfection with the skin being so crispy and the chicken inside had definitely been marinated in butter milk as they were fab…may be a tiny ramakin of buffalo sauce for the die hard….for the mains I got a burger which was cooked to perfection and very juicy whilst not being gooey… and the side of fries and salad where excellent…my wife got the carbonara and said it was delicious and we will definitely return…well done

Came here for a few nights decided to eat here on the last night and so glad we did. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Best steak and ribs we've had in a long time. Will definitely come here again next time we visit.

Food OK but really not great and some of the staff verging on rude. Calamari from the freezer and overcooked fish. Such a shame, previous reviews were very good but recently it seems to be dipping.

I finally came to Hylton's for the first time after all of my friends in the Lakes raved about it, and they were not wrong. The atmosphere was great, the food was delish and the best part was the service. The waitress could not have been sweeter. We will definitely be back!

I didn’t think I’d ever put something like this on trip advisor because i like to share my best experiences on here. But this place !!! We tried to book online to eat here on our stay in the lakes but it wouldn’t let us book so we rang and they said just call in… We turned up and explained this to them and we said we’d like a table for 5 and a 12 week old in a pram. They said OH WOW !!! One girl said we could do table eleven but the other girl rolled her eyes and said no… And that was that !!! I’ve traveled a lot and always eaten out and sometimes you can be a little bit disappointed but this is most definitely the worst I’ve ever known… RUDE…

Found this restaurant online and tried to book a table as it has ok reviews. The booking system kept throwing me off so as it advised I rang the restaurant. The reply after picking the phone up and explaining was to just call in. I was put off as the woman said you booking has just cancelled even though it hadn’t confirmed it but I thought ringing may help, but So we did just that . We were a table of 5 adults and a pram with a 3 month newborn. On entering and speaking to the women who was stood there I explained that I tried to book online: has trouble and rang and told to call in: when I said a table of 5 adults and a newborn she rolled her eyes tutted and said wait ..:! Shouted her colleague and said ‘ wow they want a table of 5 and a room for newborn ‘ her colleague said table 11 and she said ‘ NO no room there ‘ to which I said thanks and walked out completely disgusted..: SO SO RUDE AND. BLATANTLY RUDE TO YOUR FACE… I’d avoid personally especially if you want good customer service and hospitality…! 1/10 👎🏻

The food was great & a very big portion. The service was also very good. We went on a Sunday evening so was not too busy but I would recommend booking which can be done online.

Todays evening was amazing . The foods was really good and had no problems . Service was great , we were served by the waitress ewelina , she was really attentive and friendly and made the dinning experience even better . This was our third time coming here and it’s been high quality food and service all times . We come to Lake District often and this place never lets us down .

Visited on a Monday night, after reading generally okay reviews. Found the waiting staff to me most unhelpful and making us feel as if we were a nuisance for being there. At first they neglected to add the prawns to pasta dish. When this was questioned the food was replaced with the same dish with a sprinkling of prawns no bigger than the size of a 5 pence piece. The burger was dry and generally bland.

I was excited to try this place out the good reviews from a range of diners but it fell very flat. A strange take on a cocktail followed by the tiniest prawns in an average pasta led to a disappointing dinner. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? However, my partner was equally as disappointed with a dry and bland burger. Service was quick but unfriendly with little interest or attention to detail. If I wasn’t hungry I wouldn’t have finished my meal, edible but not enjoyable.

We popped in on our last night as it was always busy. Treated to some wonderful food. Mussels followed by the Fillet steak. Tremendous. Well worth it.

Went here with my wife and 2 daughters and we had a lovely meal in here, staff were very polite and portions were a good size at a very good price so I would highly recommend eating here.

We found this restaurant purely on the off chance whilst visiting Bowness. Food was fantastic. We both had fish and chips which was beautiful - fish was huge. 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 rounds of drinks less than £70. Well worth a visit.

The food we had - Sea bass on crushed potatoes with prawns & fish sauce, pulled pork burger, fries & trimmings. Dessert apple pie & ice cream followed by an Irish & a baileys coffee. Good, drinks & service were amazing.

Lovely food. The restaurant is very welcoming and warm. We had 2 courses and both were delicious. The starters are a little expensive for what you get but very tasty - we had wedges and chicken wings. For mains we had a burger and the special steak (12oz 40 day matured sirloin) and both were absolutely delicious. Staff were attentive but not over the top. Definitely one to come back to.

Excellent meal and service. We didn’t have a reservation so were lucky to get in on a Saturday night. A local person had recommended it.

We Booked this restaurant for a meal out from our hotel as a treat and we were very pleased we did so. Service was excellent.. the waiter (sorry I didn’t get his name) was such a credit to the restaurant and the food was amazing (I can highly recommend the mussels.. to die for). Called in one late afternoon on the 8th December just for a drink with best friends after a lovely long but wet wintry walk around Bowness. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and found us a cosy warm corner to sit and dry off. After looking at the menu we decided to stop and order a meal and what a great decision as it was fabulous as also was the wine and sweet to follow the meal. Even thought the restaurant begin to fill up we felt no pressure to leave and the staff made us so welcome. The atmosphere and decor were lovely and just right for the time of the year getting ready for Xmas. This is our second visit to Hyltons and we cannot recommend it enough and will definitely be back. Absolutely disgusting food. Half the menu unavailable. Swordfish sent back hard as nails. Steaks x 2 hard to cut. Dough balls omg please please do not waste your money ! No disabled toilets and gents 2 storeys high ! What a shame as recommend by a friend !

We booked for New Years Eve and specifically requested a ground floor table. Sadly we did not get this which was a bit disappointing and slightly challenging for mobility reasons. The atmosphere was ok but again downstairs seemed better. Food was nice but not exceptional. Staff did not have a clue about the wines they were selling so dont expect to get any advice on wine. Despite that we enjoyed ourselves and the staff were very friendly. New Years Eve is always going to be hard to judge a place on being so busy so we would go back and try again

On holiday for a couple of days and just happened to be walking past, as it was 12 o’clock pm New Year’s Day wasn’t expecting much …………… well I was totally wrong the food was fantastic I had the steak and ale pie home made, tender meat, a rich fully flavoured gravy ……. Delicious the veg was perfectly seasoned and the chips pie class Thank you from me and my wife she had the Lancashire hot pot, my son had spagbol he’s not even 2 and scoffed the lot

I loved our meal at Hyltons. Cajun spiced calamari from the specials board was the best starter I've ever had. The cajun spiced chicken burger was a bit too spicy for my liking (the waiter did warn me so that's my own fault) but I'd still give it a 9/10 because it was perfectly cooked and presented. Fries were spot on. Slaw was super creamy and delicious. The cheesecake had a wafer thin base and a nice thick layer of deliciousness - perfect! One of the best meals I've ever had. The service was rapid and staff were lovely.

The food here is gorgeous and great value. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly while remaining professional and classy. My sister and I were only in Bowness for 4 nights but came here twice for lunch, it was that good :)

Absolutely spot on, for service and food. The Tomahawk steak is to die for ! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The limited wine list isn't shabby either.
