Hung Lay Thai Curry in Coventry

Everything was absolutely outstanding. The best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. Everything is freshly made from scratch to order so book a few hours in advance before collection.

Have had takeaways from here the last 2 weeks due to recommendations and must say it is amazing. Food is always ready at allocated collection time, prices and portions are very good too. Food can be a little spicy but the flavours are fantastic. Highly highly recommend. Will be using this weekend for 3 weeks on the trot.

We ordered breakfasts for ourselves and our house removals team yesterday. What an absolute treat! The best cooked breakfast we’ve ever had - even better than any prepared in a restaurant. Wow! I ordered a Thai green curry and Chicken and Basil plus 2 rice dishes, absolutely gorgeous. Cooked fresh. Will be back soon. Sorry can’t add photos this time as it didn’t last long enough.

This is the best, most authentic Thai food I've found in the UK. I've tried just about every curry on the menu, and they're all top notch. The curry is made using homemade curry paste containing no added MSG or sugar, which imparts a unique, fresh and homely flavour. Whether you opt for chicken or vegetables, the ingredients are always cooked to perfection and complement the curry. The service and level of care taken here is brilliant. From preparing virtually everything from scratch to presenting the coconut rice in a heart shape, no stone is left unturned here. The restaurant is also willing to cater to all tastes, and any dish can be made less (or more) spicy on request. Having enjoyed every curry I've had from here, it's hard to make a recommendation. I would recommend the signature Hung Lay curry to any fans of powerful Thai flavours or anyone looking to try something a bit different. The green and red curries are also top notch, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to try some Thai food that is fresher and more flavourful than the usual fare sold at UK Thai restaurants.

First visit yesterday to pick up a takeaway. Tried the Thai Green Chicken Curry, Chilli and basil stir fry and the Chicken with ginger - all were delicious. I live the other side of town so it’s a little bit of a trek but after reading the tripadvisor reviews I wanted to try it out. So glad I did, received a lovely warm welcome and everything tasted so good, will definitely be returning. A must visit if you love Thai food.

Im not a typical takeaway fan but as we are neighbours I thought we would give it a try. Fantastic thai food, all homemade thai pastes used, no artificial preservatives or additives used. If you preorder then Grace suggests what strength she recommends. The service is perfect and Grace is very helpful and friendly.I can very highly recommend Hung Lay.

My husband and I visited Hung Lay on Saturday thinking we would buy a take away for dinner.... unfortunately the food was sold out!! However Grace (the chef patron) invited us to return on Sunday which we did and ate in the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious!!! We had the red Thai curry and a stir fry with basil. The chicken melted in our mouths and the flavours were immense. Grace checks the heat of the dishes with you before serving them. Couldn't praise this little place enough. We will be back with more or our family. Thank you Grace.

We are a regular at Huang Lay. By far our favourite take away place. Grace thai food is second to none. There is a real fresh and authentic taste to each dish which has been mastered to perfection. The best quality ingredients are used and this is evident in the food. I can rave on and on, must try for youself!

I have ordered both traditional Thai food and breakfast/brunch on many occasions. The standard is excellent on all levels. The flavours of the authentically prepared and cooked Thai meals are mouth-wateringly good and the freshly cooked breakfasts made with quality produce give even the local farm shops a run for their money. Order ahead to avoid waiting if you are in a rush; otherwise, just accept that home cooked quality food is not “fast food” and sit and have a cup of tea or a cold drink while you wait. Grace and John are delightful and can’t do enough to ensure that you are happy.
