Husband had a flying experience so we went to Hummingbird first for something to eat. Mark as always was super helpful certainly makes things carefree and easy. It was a lovely family day out, thank you

You can not lose by going....kids love the planes, adults love the view. Food is amazing....cakes are something else.

Went to look at the airfield and the beautiful art deco terminal building, and noticed there was a cafe. This place is a hidden gem: classic cafe food done very well, with a big smile. Croque Monsieurs and jacket potatoes especially recommended, but having seen the burger at the next table we’ll definitely be back to try it. On warmer days than today there’s a lovely terrace overlooking the airfield. Really lovely friendly staff too

3 of us lunched today at the Hummingbird. The food was very average pub fare. Limited choice and unimaginative. Service was very helpful. Atmosphere utilitarian despite art deco exterior. Just a view of general aviation (small planes not taking off). Dismayed to find that disabled parking wasn't free. Attempts by my wife to pay for parking resulted in a ticket that was not a parking ticket. The waiter took our registration and

A very retro environment and service with good quality food.

Amazing staff with a very friendly touch, came my family for my Dad’s birthday and our waitress was incredible. So accommodating and welcoming, no doubt regarding our return. Thanks everyone for a lovely afternoon at The Hummingbird, see you soon!

Went for a quick lunch for a friend’s birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good and reasonably priced. We also got a free slice to cake to share for free. Definitely go again.

We visited on 23/3/25 and were shown to a table by the man that we later found out is the restaurant supervisor. He was welcoming, friendly and polite. The food was very good, prices reasonable. Afterwards we had a short chat with the supervisor, I wish I could remember his name he was very nice and he made the whole experience of eating at the Hummingbird even nicer. Recommended.

Always wanted to try the Hummingbird after landing at Shoreham Airport/Brighton City a couple of times previously. Very welcoming, great vibe, steeped in history, aircraft coming and going and possibly the best bread ever served with a breakfast!

Such a perfect lunch with my family! We brought along 2 young boys who naturally make a mess, throw food on the floor etc and they couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming. Whilst cleaning up the food Debbie came over and almost told me off (in a very nice way) for cleaning it myself! She explained "we are family friendly and our job is to look after you". She proceeded to cleaning the mess for me and just made us feel so comfortable and welcome. Such amazing food and such incredible service, thank you!

First visit and was busy on a warm Sunday morning, Short wait for a table inside, Plenty of tables available outside, with great views of planes taking off, Quick service with welcoming staff, Breakfast was excellent, lots of options including cakes, hot drinks and alcohol.

Love art deco building, in Shoreham airport 🛬 had a wonderful breakfast 😋, gets busy.

A gem of a place. Excellent food, good value, excellent service and atmosphere. Been with friends for breakfasts, brunch, lunch & afternoon tea never been disappointed with all aspects of the experience. Great team always made to feel welcome breakfast on the 18/2 usual high standard thank you all behind the scenes and especially Sandra our waitress. We’ll be back 😋👍🏻👏🏻🙂

What a fantastic place! My sister lives on Shoreham beach so decided to call into this fantastic place for lunch whilst we were down here. The staff are so so kind, the whole building is amazing and the food is awesome. Will definitely visit when down here again!

Flew into Shoreham for lunch at The Hummingbird Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the excellent food and outstanding service. A special mention goes to Debbie, who truly went above and beyond to ensure customers felt valued. Even when the restaurant was full and we had to wait for a table, Debbie’s professionalism and attentiveness stood out. She was not only apologising for the wait which she didn’t have to do but also provided us with menus to browse while we waited, along with taking the time to consider the table sizes for each group waiting. This level of care and organisation, especially during such a busy period, was remarkable. Debbie and the team made the experience exceptional—well done to everyone at The Hummingbird!

We booked a large table today for our plane-loving son’s 2nd birthday and had a brilliant time. We visit every couple of months and the food is consistently delicious and the service today especially was brilliant. They really made us and our son feel special on his birthday and Debbie went above and beyond to look after us. Thank you for a lovely meal, we will see you again soon!

Food was great. Bonus of being next to the runway so you can see the small planes taking off and landing.

My 10 friends and I had a lovely Christmas lunch there last week, it was excellent 👍. Thank you to Michael and his staff for lookng after us, nothing was to much trouble. Lovely place to take children as they can play outside and watch the planes 🛩️and helicopters🚁 taking off etc 👏

We had a lovely Christmas celebration here today! There were 20 of us in our party (and a good few others on other tables). The food was EXCELLENT and the service was exemplary; everything was served quickly and hot, there was extra vegetables and lashings of gravy, and the staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Well done to all involved at the Hummingbird, and a big thank you to Clive for organising OUR party. Happy Christmas to all! (I only took a picture of the pudding; I was too busy tucking into the traditional Turkey feast when that arrived!)

The staff were absolutely amazing on Saturday. We were a group of 7 and they could not do enough for us. Highly recommended.

Not sure that I like the changes made. Visited again today; very slow service which meant my coffee was cold by the time I received my food. We were outside, as the noise level inside was horrendous. Unless they improve I won't be returning here. It needs to be relaxing with good service. Not much to ask.

The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars was because the only sugar free soft drink offered apart from water was Coke Zero. As two of our group are diabetic, the lack of choice was disappointing. The server did offer us fruit juice (definitely not sugar free). Food was great, quick and bacon cooked crispy as requested. Constant change of view with plenty of aeroplane and helicopter action.

Visited here to film. Ordered some chips and a coffee. Got up to film a helicopter taking off and a seagull drank my coffee and ate my chips!!! The staff scared off the bird and made a new order. Top class. Even if you had not happened I would have given 5 stars. They are all so polite and helpful. Plus the atmosphere is great

Charge disabled people to park.

Just popped in for a breakfast. Told it was table service. Bearing in mind there were only 4 tables occupied I sat there for 15 minutes with no one coming over to take my order. I felt I could have sat there longer and still nothing. Walked out on principle. The other people's food looked nice. If it was busy I would totally understand but there were 2x staff attending tables.

Lovely to watch the planes whilst you eat and the staff are very helpful and friendly. It is rather expensive though.

Food and service was very good. But absolutely terrible that the shelf was stacked with crisps 3 Months out of date .

A really great place to meet up for lunch. Right inside the Brighton City Airport (it's located on the outskirts of Shoreham). It is truly a wonderful place though & definitely deserves having the best ratings across the board. It's a true Art Deco survivor, you wouldn't be surprised to see Hercule Poirot coming out the main entrance as you approach it. I'll definitely be going again but next time I'll take some photos to post, this time I was just enjoying what I was eating, the company & location I was in.

Great. Fantastic views of the Shoreham airfield. The chips are Gluten Free too, which is also an easy bonus!

We hired the Pashley suite in the airport for my sisters baby shower on Saturday. And wow was this room absolutely perfect for it. It looked out onto the airfield and we saw so many planes and helicopters depart. My sister’s a real plane lover! The food was amazing thank you so much Micheal! Exactly what we were after and tasted so fresh. The scones were even hot still! 10/10! But the biggest thing was our lovely host Debbie. She was absolutely phenomenal! Popping in and checking on us throughout our time there. Grabbing refreshments if anyone needed any. Debbie you are a HUGE credit to the airport. You made everything so effortless for us and we want to say a massive thank you! 100% recommend going here for events! Will be keeping you in our minds for future events. Thank you so much again.

A small but varied menu for lunches and cakes. Great portion sizes for kids and adult dishes. Very good value for money and in a fun location seeing the planes

A great spot for plane enthusiasts a decent coffee but was shocked at over £4 for a slice of very average cake.

Lovely restaurant, great friendly staff and the cooked breakfast was top notch. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

This place has the potential to be a destination experience. For now, it's lovely and I'd go again, but it's a bit shabby and a bit average and the service is a bit meh.

What a hidden gem! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was excellent and the service outstanding. We had the privilege of being served by Sandra, Debbie and Carol who went out of their way to give us the best experience. They even moved us to a better table when one became available. I have eaten here on several occasions and each time I've been very impressed by the friendliness and kindness of the serving staff. It's also such a beautiful building. The examples of Art Deco are exquisite. I HIGHLY recommend this venue it's suitable for all ages and all seasons. Thank you 😊

Great visit to such an iconic airport. Fab restaurant The Humming Bird. Lovely food and very nice ,friendly service. Plus fun of watching helicopters and plane's . I had cheese and ham toastie, my son had scampi and chips.

Booked a table for a group of 10 senior citizens for afternoon tea - they all absolutely loved the setting, layout, food and wonderful staff. Access was very easy, thankyou so much to all the staff for a wonderful afternoon - your service was impeccable!

Nice bright bar restaurant, overlooking the airfield and distant views to Lancing College. Outside seating to. A disgrace the council have even made people pay to park right out there! Pity they dont spend the millions they make on parking tickets on potholes! Anyway go for a visit. Its great.

We can highly recommend this restaurant. Its location right by the airfield is really unique and much enjoyed by all ages. One of the huge strengths of the restaurant is that they’re incredibly family friendly. Debbie is absolutely wonderful- she has such a big heart and gives us warmest of welcomes every time we’ve been. The food has been plentiful and delicious. Thank you to all!

Great view over the airfield, with outdoor sitting and wheelchair accessible. It is not fine dinning, the food choices aren’t many but the food is okay with good portions for an acceptable price. The service was good and quickly served. You pay parking, 2£ per 1st hour. Nice to go there in a sunny weather and enjoy the airplanes lift off.

Place overrated and awful expensive food. It makes you realise what cheap and old ingredients are used. Stale bread tasteless coffee and raw eggs. If you order something on toast be prepared to eat a stale loaf of bread designed to break you teeth on the plate and and virtually dropped on your lap. The staff are rude and groped by the chef outside and swears which is allowed by the Bakery owners when questioned. Do not question anything anything is far too difficult.

First visit in 48 years. Memories of the iconic art deco airport building revived a visit to the café was a bonus. Shame weather was poor else there'd be activity in the air too.

Love this place. Everyone is lovely and the food tastes like your gran is a talented cook and just made it all fresh in the back just for you. 😊. Fab, calm atmosphere and the history of the airport is fascinating. New favourite place.

Went here for breakfast, we had eggs benedict served on a huge thick chunk of bread which was hard to eat the eggs were average not lovely golden yolks and sauce ok but not hot enough, the cappuccino was not very hot either. Not the same since Truffles have taken it over just very pretentious over rated and way over priced, the best part was the view outside.

Noisy but very good place to eat good food at good prices

The food is really basic standard with nothing made on the site. I’m not sure why croque monsieur is on the menu when they haven’t a clue how this should be made. It’s a shame it’s run by a chain instead of independent operator. If you want freshly produced food and cakes stay well clear of this place

Great but disappointed ! We dined at the hummingbird for a birthday today the meals were fantastic but we accidentally broke a glass which ended up in 2 meals the manager on duty was really nice about it ( so we thought ) and said he would replace the meals on the house which we didn’t expect at all. When we got our bill we were charged for the 2 dishes we were told were on the house ! It was all sorted at the end by the great young apologetic staff. Great venue and staff but left us a little disappointed not sure if we will return.

The restaurant is in an amazing location however the car parking was a nightmare. Got a ticket for being slightly over and now debt collectors involved . Won't be going back

Lots to see aeroplanes and if a bad led ask for a chair to sit outside sunny good food . Lots of aeroplanes look for helicopter looks people going on holiday aeroplanes in the sky children's menu

Only had tea/coffee. Quickly served, & acceptable quality. Very noisy, no provision of maybe soft furnishings to absorb some of the noise . Pity, because building & interior is a real gem

Great food and lovely staff! Scrambled eggs cooked to perfection will go back hopefully when the sun is out. Took my dog 🐕 Hercules in and he was offered water, sorry about the loud bark as we were leaving I think he loved it so much he didn't want to leave!

So quaint, staff are amazing and really friendly, breakfast cooked 🍳 to perfection, accepted my dog 🐕 Hercules with a bowl of water, means a lot to an owner.

Warning: don’t trust published opening hours. Often close 15min early and won’t even serve you a cup of tea or coffee as they want to go home.

Lovely food, good portions and reasonable pricing. The service is good, polite, and attentive. No reservations about the restaurant. However car parking is a bit of a trial (the app doesn't work) and at busy times to can find yourself paying for parking and the restaurant being full.

Great place for a sit chat and some drink and food. Plus the view is amazing!! An Artdeco building with loads of features and character oh and the food was good too.

I went to the hummingbird expecting a great service as the reviews suggest but instead I was turned away with my group of 2 other people and instead was sent to the other cafe near by. To the man on the door thank you for ruining our day we drove all the way from Portsmouth just to be turned away. I will never return to this establishment again.

Incredibly rude and disappointing, we have stopped before for a coffee, paid to park, popped in , empty tables but were told as we only wanted a coffee that we could not get a table...as people were coming to eat, however we can pop in other times, that is no way to treat people, we said it was just a quick coffee, we were told no. How awful I'd understand if it was the last table or even if there was anybody else behind us. We will not return.

Had been there before so knew the food would be good. Pleasant cafe with a good view of the aircraft. The person serving us was rather abrupt.
