H's in Craven

The haddock batter was soggy and oil loaded the chips were dry and wizened and Luke warm ! Clearly reheated from the night before ! Not cheap at over £20 either for two portions ! When I rang to complain and said re chips re heated the owner just said “ OK IF YOU SAY SO AND PUT THE PHONE DOWN “ appalling . DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS !!!! The worse fish and chips we have ever had ! He doesn’t deserve to be in business ! Most of ours went in the bin !!!

AWFUL FOOD AT TOP PRICES, the £4.50 fish n chips would NOT fill a mouse, rude staff too & top top prices esp for soggy chips & greasy fish (NEVER AGAIN)

Fish tasted off and it was small .chip tasted old refried and expensive for what we got avoid joke of a chippy

Nice freshly cooked sausage and chips. Short waiting time. Easy parking. The portions of chips arnt large so would have been better to order an extra portion as we are 4 adults.

Very pleasant staff. Chose the small portion of fish and chips. Absolutely delicious! Got a cup of tea made to just my liking. Will definitely be going again !

Went to this chip shop one Friday evening, the chips were very greasy and the fish was over cooked, it was that well done that you couldn’t cut through it. The sausage was very nice but we wouldn’t recommend this place

Knowing that at the end of the week there's a really great portion of fish and chips for tea has been the saving grace of lockdown. It gives you something to look forward to in a very boring and uncertain few months. The shop is great too. For weeks, the only other people you would speak to outside your house was those in the shop, always a conversation with good humour and good heart.

We ordered 2x medium fish d chips. Great value for money. Cod beautiful all cooked fresh while you wait Spotless shop.

Crap fish and chips go to Settle or Gargrave. Tries to be cheap and cheerful by advertising cut price fish and chips. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

My beloved and I ventured on our way to the Lakes as we were feeling a bit peckish. The quality was pleasant enough but the portions were a bit on the small side...

We had excellent fish and chips here and so much cheaper than in our home of Aberdeen (Scotland). The opening hours (as of August 2019) are rather restricted: closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and closes at 8 pm on other days. There is a small attached café where you can sit down to eat.

Very rude unpleasant man. Worst fish and chips ever. Inedible, we put them in the bin. Won't be going again.

Just had F&C from my local, the wife had Scampi ( specially made ) and as usual excellent, so I was rather surprised to read some of the silly offensive reviews which in my view have come from competitors or out of spite. I like H's, the staff are always friendly and helpful and up for a chat and the food cooked fresh. I don't want to see it's closed due a campaign by idiots ( this has happened to the Kong Cantonese in Skipton) TripAdvisor is for reviews about food and service and not if you have an axe to grind or need help. Go and enjoy some lovely Fish and Chips either to eat in or take out and be served by some lovely people.

Welcome venue in Hellifield, but just normal fish n chip shop - impossible to rave or slate it - just fine.

Fish and Chips tasted burnt and dry. Portions are small size considering the price, £6.50. Service was poor, unfriendly and rude. After querying a price, I was mocked on the way out by a young man. Won’t be returning.

No queue as it was near closing. Friendly staff and nice food. They gave generous portions especially the peas.

This was our second visit to H's, we were not happy with the quantity and quality of the food the first time we visited, but gave it another chance. I'm sorry to say that I wish we hadn't bothered, you only get a misererly amount of food here and it's not particularly well-prepared or even warm. There are other positive reviews of H's, but I'm afraid I can't support them - we definitely cannot recommend this fish and chip shop and will not be going back.

These are simply fish and chips as they used to be. Pay full price and get a massive fish, loads of chips and that good old taste. If you are passing through Hellifield and they are open, then you must try. Even better after a beer at the Black Horse

This chip shop used to have brilliant fish, now not so good, but they do offer two sizes of portions,ideal if you need it for a child or are older

Ate in dining room. because our first choice from the extensive menu was not available we had fish, chips and mushy peas. The reasonably sized fish was freshly fried, the mushy peas were good but we found the chips limp and unappetising. The service was good, the salt and pepper of very good quality and the range of sauces outstanding.

Big prices - small portions. Chips are cooked with the skins on which is OK but some people may not like that. Fish is expensive and portion size is quite small. The gravy - well I've never seen such watery gravy, and as a result gravy was everywhere when I opened the wrappings in the car. Very messy.

The staff are friendly and there are more than seemed necessary, I must have hit a quiet time, though there were other customers in. The restaurant has its own car park, two entrances, one for the café, but the main entrance has a couple of steps. Prices are a little high and the menu has some unusual features, such as Spam Fritters and Kebab style chicken burgers, otherwise normal fish and chip fare. Ok, but nothing special.

Very good fish and chips, fish cooked to order and potato skins on the chips, which is brave - but hey it works! Really nice staff in there too. 10 out of 10.

Popped in for fish n chips had to wait a short time as fish was cooked to order, well worth the wait.

Me and my husband ate here on Good Friday. We ordered fish and chips with mushy peas. The portions are big. I couldn't finish mine! The fish is perfect and skin on chips excellent.

Llegamos como un grupo sin avisar de 6 adultos y 5 niños, y a pesar de que obviamente tener una tienda ya ocupado justo después de abrir a las 5 de la tarde, nos dieron la bienvenida en el pequeño comedor cafetería contigua y servido...

Desgraciadamente no hay acceso para personas de movilidad reducida. Sería genial en los días buenos para comer en los alrededores encantadores de Hellifield. Para personas aptos es una joya de lugar para pescado y patatas fritas

Disfrutamos el abadejo y patatas fritas comidas. Sabía fresco y sabroso y sobre todo el servicio era tener una sonrisa y me hizo sentir muy bienvenido y cómodo. No te olvides de la salsa curry irlandés!

Buen precio buena comida. cierra a las 8 pm. se podría hacer para abrir más tarde, saliendo de la carretera principal se puede aparcar al lado de la tienda o gran aparcamiento detrás de las tiendas.

Pescado, patatas fritas y guisantes blandos, cocidos Real en Carne de goteo. Un chips verdaderamente tradicional, con un menú para igualar. Llamé a la hora del almuerzo y probamos la sabrosa comida cocinada a su gusto. El restaurante estaba cerrado, pero los lugareños me dicen hay una cálida bienvenida y una comida de primera clase.

Ha habido una revolución en nuestro local chippy en Hellifield. Siempre ha sido amable, limpia y buena comida, pero ahora?

Popped in to get an evening treat for the family and fed five of us on the finest fish and chips for less than £20. The portions are well sized and the chips cooked perfectly and the fish is fresh, moist and crispy. The staff were friendly and welcoming and you can buy dandelion and burdock to boot. Highly, highly recommended.

Called in on my way back from The Great Yorkshire Show...really friendly service and wow...by far the best Fish and Chips I've ever tasted. This is a bold statement from me as I managed a Fish and Chip shop in Windermere for 10 yrs. Will be going back...cheers

Called in at 8 o'clock for a couple of bags of chips not realising they closed at 8 until a few minutes later after ordering and looking round and noticed opening times, they put chips in for me and were amazing!!! I must say they were one of best chips I've had and will definitely go again when in the area!!! Service was exceptionally good too!!!

Great fish and chips, good selection of food to eat in or take our. Right on the main street you can't miss it. It's been well painted inside and out and looks great.

We were arrived in Hellifield on a Thursday and found out that it is quite hard to find food on a Thursday night. We came across H's which is a traditional fish & chip shop that also has a café on the side, so being a cold night we decided to sit in. Our first choice was not available so we opted for chilli and chips and am I so glad we did. We were served fresh chips from the fryer and an amazingly tasty chilli ( home made ?). It had lots a flavour and some good heat, not at all what we were expecting. The two young lads who were helping out in the shop/café were super polite and very helpful. The take away section appeared to be very busy with local traffic too. This was an unexpected and very welcome find on a cold February night. We will definitely make a visit to this café again when we are in the area.
