House of Zen in Belfast

Had meal here with my other half, staff were very friendly and attentive, food was great and very tasteful Could visit again

Myself and my boyfriend went to House of Zen for Valentines dinner. The food was amazing and the service was really good too. I have nothing bad to say. We felt like we were getting 5star treatment. If you go to Belfast and like Chinese food definitely worth going here!!!

Booked a table for Valentines night with my wife,we arrived on time and got seated,2 course with house wine was all they were doing,2 prawn starters were nice enough,i got chicken curry with vegetables mostly onions 5 bits of tough chicken and 2 small carrots and wife got duck which she said was undercooked,and service all very rushed said we had table for 2 hours we were out by 6 and not even a thankyou or goodbye on leaving.

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for as a while and organised a baby sitter for a Saturday afternoon

My sister and I booked a table here on a Saturday night. We ordered the Dim Sum (Chicken Siu Mai) which were chicken dumplings, they were very nice. The my sister ordered the Chinese Roasted Duck which she said was tender and very nice. I got the Dong Po’ Pork, which was slow braised pork belly. It was to die for! It melted in your mouth and the flavors really stood out! To drink we got cocktails which were served in a traditional teapot and cups, which added a nice touch. Also the toilets were lovely.

A few colleagues had already started eating at the House of Zen and one of our group of four had said that it was good too (we had two omnivores and two veggies). We arrived as a walk up - were seated promptly and courteously. Drinks orders taken and then came back for the main order. We decided really to have a range of starters to suit all the different eating requirements and just a couple of main dishes to come when they were ready.

Fuimos a House of Zen antes de un espectáculo en el SSE Arena. Solo tuvimos un par de horas pero queríamos probar el menú de degustación (seis platos). El servicio fue impecable, lograron cocinar y servir toda la comida dentro de ese tiempo, pero no nos sentimos presionados entre platos.

Vi las críticas en Tripadvisor y solo estuve 2 noches pero sonó a las 7. 30 pm un sábado por la noche y llegué a las 8. 30 pm, siempre y cuando estuviéramos bien sentados en el área del invernadero, estaba bien, era encantador y cálido debido a los calentadores.

Went here for my work Christmas outting but I have been here many times before. Food has always been lovely. Food and drinks are reasonably prices for popular Belfast location. I would highly recommend if you enjoy asian fusion.

Second time in three weeks and did not disappoint. Excellent food, great service, friendly staff and wonderful value for the five of us

Just want to say a big thank you to all the staff at House of Zen last night for the New Years celebrations. They were fantastic hosts for the evening and made us feel right at home. Food was lovely from the set menu and the cocktails were outstanding. The entertainment for the evening was great from the fantastic singer to the very funny rusty hinges. Also thank you to Irene for being a great host we will certainly be back next New Year’s with some friends. Happy New Year all!!

Nos sentamos con prontitud, sin embargo, nuestra camarera parecía impaciente con nosotros al tomar nuestro pedido y no sonrió todo el tiempo del servicio, aparte de cuando nos entregaron la factura, que incluía un 10% de cargo por servicio, ya que éramos una mesa de 6. Los entrantes eran agradables, las porciones de sopa son muy pequeñas, probablemente la mitad del tamaño que hemos tenido en otros restaurantes. Los platos principales estaban bien, nada excepcional, porciones de arroz y fideos bastante pequeñas también. No estoy seguro de si volvería debido a la experiencia general. Me encantaron los asientos del baño con calefacción sin embargo.

Decided last minute to go for food and picked Zen as we were closest and I am so glad we did! The place was busy due to the Christmas party season but we still got a table and the servers were lovely and super efficient! Great options for veggies too. Would recommend 100%

Party of two - dropped in on a whim - a mistake

Very beautiful restaurant, cocktails were delicious, customer service could be improved. My meal was lovely but my friends meal was much too oily so couldn't eat it. We told the hostess this but she just made an excuse about how the dish is prepared but didnt offer to replace the meal or do anything about it...

3 of us visited during the week for lunch, the menu is fantastic 2 courses for £11.95 and there is so much choice. Service was good and the food arrived promptly. We all agreed the food was delicious and so were the cocktails. Great value and lovely setting.

Lovely food although was a little expensive. Staff were polite and service was good. Although busy we did not have to wait long for food.

A popular and busy Chinese restaurant in a pedestrianised square in the cathedral quarter, we turned up on spec without booking to be told that they only had space in the outside covered area. We didn’t fancy this on a cold and wet night, but then realised that it’s not only covered but completely enclosed, and heated too. It was actually quite cosy in there, and probably warmer than the main restaurant.

Excellent food and great service I will definitely be back. Had the duck in Hoi Sin sauce and it was lovely.

Dinner with 4 friends. Service was very good and we were well looked after. Ribs, angry crab and chicken satay starters were very good. Main courses also delicious. Would recommend getting in early as it can get busy at weekends.

Nice find in Belfast. Excellent decor. Service was very good. Had their signature menu of 4 courses and coffee. Dim sum and salad were excellent. Disappointed with the duck though. It was quite dry. The beef was outstanding. Good selection and everyone else was satisfied.

Food and service are great. Have a go at the very fancy toliets if you go its an experience 😁 drinks are great. Would go back again!

Sat Night with a booking for 6 people. We were told the table had to be back by 9pm which isn’t a problem but service was slow so we didn’t think it was fair when we were asked to leave. Bill already printed before we asked for it- felt pushed out and rushed. Won’t be back. Food very nice- that was the only positive.

Ordered a takeaway from here, the restaurant has a great decor and a good buzz about it so I expect would be enjoyable to have a meal there. Service was great, the wait staff seated me, helped me to select my takeaway, chatted to me and were helpful all round.

When in Belfast we regularly visit here, never been disappointed, fabulous food, staff, decor. Great choices.

We have been to this restaurant many times so we obviously like it. This time, however, it was not quite as good as usual. The service has got too slick. We were booked in at 7pm and were told we would have to vacate the table by 9pm - fair enough. The service was so slick we could have been out of the restaurant not long after 8pm! Also the food was not that warm. I should have pointed this out at the time!

Best meal in Belfast when you are on a budget! Food was good, the dumplings are to die for, and the atmosphere is amazing on a busy night. Would highly recommend!

Went as a group of 4 last night. My boyfriend informed the waiter he had a nut allergy and could provisions be made to ensure his food wasn’t cooked in nut oil( he eats Chinese often as a takeaway and there is no issue with this) he was informed their kitchen is not big enough to cook it in a separate pan so he was given the allergen menu which consisted of 4 dishes that were essentially plain chicken/prawn/beef & veg. He chose the special stir fry, it came out looking like a bush tucker trial...better yet it was £15!!! Our food from the regular menu was also bland, chips half frozen in the middle and bulked up with cabbage. It’s 2019 sort out your allergy provisions, local takeaways have room to provide service for those with allergies! Horribly overpriced food and we left deciding we needed a McDonald’s on the way home.

We have been this restaurant few times, none of one time we're never enjoyed foods & drinks. The ingredients of foods are very fresh and season it in refined tasted. All of the staff are friendly and professional. This restaurant keeps in clean all the time. We have tried House of Zen Signature Starter, Crispy Duck Salad, Salt & Chilli Crispy Squid, Salt & Chilli Ribs, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Traditional Curry King Prawn, Sichuan Tofu Clay Pot, all of those cuisines are very delicious. It's a great menu for most people ( meat lovers or vegetarian ).

One of my favourite restaurants in the city and never disappoints. Good swift service, excellent food and reasonably priced. Recommended!

We ate here as a group of 3 and were not disappointed. Firstly, the location is stunning – a classy little square tucked away behind the Cathedral.

We were up for Chinese food and this place came up on Tripadvisor and I am so glad that it did! The food was to die for and the cocktails are VERY good! You might think the cocktails are pricy, but it’s well worth it! Service tended to be a bit slow at times, but they were very attentive and efficient. We got a table without a booking 2 nights in a row (Friday and Saturday) which was surprising! If you want good Chinese food, this is the place to go!

The best Asian menu & food you could ask for, well known also for their cocktail bar as well, I couldn’t ask for better service, the guys are really nice and willing to help with anything you need . I would recommend booking as it can be really busy at times. It’s in the cathedral quarter and close to hotels and bars in that area. I will be back and highly recommend this Asian restaurant. Well done House of Zen.

The Zen in Adelaide Street is by far the best....Better chefs than Annes Square and much better service.....

First time in this restaurant, very disappointed. Your local high street Chinese takeaway does comparable food. We had steamed dumplings to start, they were not home made and clearly came from a packet.

Mi hija y yo vinimos por mi cumpleaños por primera vez. Es un lugar encantador y la comida era hermosa. El servicio es muy rápido y el personal era muy amable. ¡Los cócteles fueron ñam ñam sin duda volverán aquí de nuevo pronto! ! ! !

We had dinner here on a night when a section of the restaurant was taken by a large party and this did affect our enjoyment. The service was fine, the menu was interesting with some different choices and overall we had an ok evening. Would probably go back and hope the restaurant would be quiet enough to have a conversation.

Visited last night with my husband and both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Really well cooked and beautifully presented. For starters I had the chicken dumplings, they were so light and tasty. Husband had the soft shell crab and really enjoyed it. For mains I had chicken satay with fried rice, really good! The right amount of spice and peanut flavour. Husband went for the peppered fillet steak, it was so tender, it just fell apart! We finished it of with an Irish coffee and espresso martini. Service was perfect. Very attentive. All in all, great meal and will definitely return!

Myself and a group of work colleagues had dinner here. Staff were friendly and food came very quickly. I got the sea bream which I found to be very greasy and I got the impression that it was frozen before being “shallow fried” (it tasted more deep fried). Garlic chips were nice which came with it.

No estábamos seguros de dónde comer y pasábamos por la Casa de Zen. Era media tarde de sábado, así que pudimos conseguir una mesa muy rápidamente. Los dos elegimos dos elementos del menú, los entrantes de la crujiente ensalada de pato y las gambas saladas con chile, y ambos fueron por los mismos platos principales, el pollo al curry tailandés. El servicio fue excelente y la comida fue bastante rápida en llegar. Mi única queja es que está muy oscuro por dentro, pero aparte de eso, me encantó la comida y no dudaría en volver. ¡Prueba los loos también con aparatos ultra modernos para secar tus regiones inferiores! !

We love our Asian food. Had some superb meals in HongKong, Singapore and KL to name just a few - and we have a favourite restaurant in Fremantle which is not far from home. But we come half a world away and find not only one of the best Asian restaurants, but most certainly the best restaurant we have visited in Northern Ireland.

The set menus allow for good value dining.

I ate here with some friends while visiting Belfast in April, can't fault the food in any way, prompt service and friendly staff. Slightly more expensive than others but worth the cost.

My family had spoken very highly of this place previously but we were overall disappointed. The gluten free meal was particularly poor. I ordered chicken with plum sauce and pineapple. I received some reheated chicken, warm but raw onions, warm but raw peppers and pineapple chunks fried in oil and garlic. No sign of any plum sauce, no sign of the gluten free soy sauce mentioned and no sign of any real cooking!! I sent the dish back to be cooked more as it was inedible. It came back hotter and the veg and onions were a fraction more cooked, but still raw not al-dente. Still no sign of any sauce. I was starving so I ate the food, but it was the most unpleasant meal I’ve had in years! Very disappointed. In our party another dish was only just edible, two were ok and one was enjoyed. Shame as the decor and service were very nice

Ate here recently as couple with young child (5). Food was hot and tasty and good selection of Asian food. Lovely king prawn toast starter. Steal & asparagus rolls main. I had chilli black bean but as a chilli lover I could have had it a LOT hotter not spicy at all. Otherwise delicious with wine and desert :) Typical children’s menu. Lovely atmosphere and staff.

I have been here a few times now and the food is always delicious! I love the cocktails too. There is a lot of variety on the menu. Staff are friendly and helpful. A little bit expensive but worth it in my opinion.

We had the set 4 course menu and definitely weren’t disappointed! The prawns on our deluxe platter were absolutely enormous and all food was really tasty!

I came here one evening with my mum and boyfriend. We were all really impressed with the food, it was delicious. Decor of the restaurant is lovley. Food came out very very fast. My only complaint was each of us got different cocktails and none of them were good, we couldnt drink any of them. We will be back but just for food!

Went for the four course set menu. Picture here is the shering platter starter. The fest of the meal looked and tasted equally delicious. Fast friendly service great ambiance. The meal cost £67.00 for 2 with a cocktail. We'll worth it would go again.

Eaten here a couple of times in the past month. Love the place, staff are friendly, menu is excellent and food hasn't disappointed. Signature beef dish, and their monkfish are particularly good.

Ate here on Wednesday night with friends as part of a short holiday to Belfast. Food was fantastic and the waitress was wonderfully helpful and attentive.

Visited for the first time on a Friday afternoon lunchtime and it was very busy as to be expected. Even though we didn’t have a reservation we were seated quite quickly which we appreciated, and could see that they worked well under high demand.

I visit this Chinese restaurant when ever I can,it’s a great place The food is lovely and the cocktails are brilliant. The staff are super helpful Iv never had an issue with anything ever Always a great meal I find it very reasonably priced too

My husband and I went for a meal today in house of zen. We were given the menu which for two courses is £10.95 great value. I had satay chicken to start with and salt and chilli king prawns with fried rice. My husband had the house of zen signature prawns to start and salt and chilli chicken with noodles food was very good and great service.

Go here regularly for family nights, date nights and just catch ups. Food is beautiful, cocktails delish and i enjoy the atmosphere one of my favourite restaurants defo worth a try and the pre theatre menu great value.

Visited House of Zen on Thursday 14th March for a family Birthday. Food and service was exceptional as always, my favourite Chinese restaurant!

Came here a few times, have to say it's fantastic. Very dark inside which is something I love about it. Food and cocktails are amazing. Yuzu fizz is an all time favourite. Will be back many more times to come. Favourite restaurant in NI!

4 of us have just left House Of Zen and we all had a fantastic night. We all had starter's and a main course and they all were amazing, we will definitely be back there again as soon as possible.

Have visited here a few times as a couple and with friends. Cocktails are 100% the best I have ever tasted with a wide variety to choose from but I do feel the food is just average. The prices for both food and drink is extortionate we always spend a fortune in here and the portions are quite small. But all in all it’s a lovely atmosphere and nice place for a relaxing drink.

Went to zen for 2 course lunch, the service at the start was amazing couldn’t have been better, and the food omg it was the absolute tasty most delicious food I have had in a long long time, I would highly recommend zen, even there desserts were amazing.

I was with a group of business people looking for a good meal. The menu was varied and I enjoyed my chilli salad stater. However the main course of roast duck was not well presented and quite dry. It was served with rice but no sauce making the whole meal very unappetising. It didn't seem like a meal prepared by a professional chef. The price unfortunately was not good value. Otherwise the staff were friendly and helpful.

Booked a table for ten for a Saturday night just before Christmas and yes we had a short wait and it was very busy, it was a Christmas party night. We had a great meal, bottles of wine and a few beers and even when we got a tad loud the staff were very good and kept us in line with the odd shush.... recommend you give it a visit.

Was so looking forward to our meal here after being recommended, well disappointed is an understatement. Husbands starter came out looking like something scraped off the ground , his main (beef in black pepper) was literally swimming in oil, I had salt and chilli chicken which was bascically spicy chicken goujons on a bed of white cabbage, so dry I couldnt eat it and husband who would usually eat my leftovers refused it. Couldnt in all good conscience recommend this place.

Went there for a meal before Christmas. Nice atmosphere to the restaurant and décor good. Staff not overly friendly. Disappointed in the food based on the menu description and surroundings. Ordered a lamb dish that was described very fancifully but it was served in the standard Chinese curry sauce that you get down the chip shop or in local supermarket. Starter was not very tasty either. Not overly impressed.

Went here for Christmas night out from work had lovely meal only downside was it was very noisy but they couldn't help that. Also bar staff need to smile a bit more!

Al final, fue de 63 para dos personas, para una porción de galletas de gambas en 2. 50, un pollo al curry, un tazón de arroz frito, x 2 chips y una porción de satay de pollo que podría haber pasado como el pollo al curry, x 2 cócteles y una porción del cargo por servicio a 5. 80. No me impresionó. Cuando mencionamos el tema de las papas fritas y el arroz, simplemente se encogieron de hombros. No volvería Demasiado caro para la comida china básica, que es mejor que mi comida local china y menos apresurada cuando se come en casa. Es una pena.

We were a table of 6 and booked well in advance as it was first Saturday in December, our table was booked for 5pm, we all arrived ontime however weren't shown to our table until 5.15 as the reception area was full, we were then seated and asked straight away what we wanted to order, we asked for a few minutes that's exactly what we got, we were served a 3 course meal and 2 drinks each in just under an hour and 10 mins, no breaks in between was far to rushed didn't enjoy it at all, then when we finished dessert the bill was left on the table right away and after a few minutes someone came over to tell us they needed the table back by 7pm which is fair enough but it was only 6.30pm, to top it off there was a £28.00 tip already added to the bill, diffinately was not a good experience for us and don't think we would be back very disappointed.

Had been looking forward to our evening for weeks. It was the Christmas set menu and although there was choice the food was very disappointing. Especially when paying £32.00 per head. Let's just say we didn't stay for desserts. Didn't say anything just won't be back.

We both really enjoyed our evening here in house of zen the place is really lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful plus a great wine list would highly recommend this place

food very good , the service was really bad, the girl at the till when asked to work out a bill threw a calculator on the counter and made me work it out!! unbelievably ignorant strangely enough they didn't get a tip!!

Always enjoy my trips to Zen. The food is amazing and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Great spot for a bite to eat, even better for cocktails as their menu is insane.

My wife and I visited the House of Zen on the evening of Wednesday 31st October 2018, during our recent short break to Belfast. Let me say from the start the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Visiting on a half term weekend, House of zen was busy. The 2 courses for £10.95 was excellent value and decent portion size. I had king prawn in filo and chicken satay and the other half had ribs and shredded chicken in honey pepper sauce. Both were tasty, hot and a good sized portion. Would definitely recommend for a little walk away from the city centre into the Cathedral quarter.

Four of us went for lunch. The food and service was excellent. We ordered drinks and some table water. However, when the bill came, we had been charged £8 for 2 bottles of table water. I thought there had been some mistake but staff assured me that the bill was correct. find this a total rip off.

On a busy Saturday after in Belfast just fancied a nice cocktail and to chill for a hour. Stopped in at a couple of bar restaurants who were unwilling to take us because either we hadn’t booked or we hadn’t planned to eat at that time!!!!!

The location of this place ensures it will be busy on most nights especially weekends, the chicken was dry and tasteless, service was rushed as they want you out promptly for next sitting, it’s average prices but there are better places around. They were happy to serve more drinks but had to leave the table 5 minutes later with no lounge area then to enjoy your drink!
