I am not Chinese, but I really enjoy authentic Sichuan cuisine. This is one of the restaurants we are most satisfied with for Chinese food in Belfast. It was quite a surprise that they even serve frog here. The flavor is very authentic and delicious, though it may not be for everyone as it’s very spicy and oily, typical of the Sichuan region. However, the restaurant also offers a menu of Chinese food prepared in a way that’s more suited to local tastes. highly recommended

We were so excited to have authentic Chinese food in Belfast, but this experience turned to so so with the high price. The beef and lamb skewers were overcooked, hard to chew; the sour fish soup was average without flavour; but the fired beans were yummy, recommend! The biggest thing I don’t understand is they only take cash! For what reason?!

When serving the food, she served the food so hardly that our table was pushed back to the wall. She also rushed us with our bill when it was not even close to their closing hours. However, she was racist by discriminating Asians, she was also rude to other tables who were also Asians, but she turned really nice and friendly when a white man went over to the counter for payment. Never going back as it happened twice, really disappointed!

Used to be one of my favourite restaurants in Belfast,but it was more and more disappointing since chef changed, until now I don't think I will go again . Poor food quality, absolutely no where as good as before. Not worth the money. I would not recommend it .

The mutton kebabs taste good 👍 There was a waiter who felt confused about the service. When ordering, I checked with him three times and he still ordered the wrong one! ! When I found that the dish was wrong and asked him to change it, he would only say that he was sorry and there was nothing he could do about it, but he would not do anything else! I was speechless. I asked him four or five times what to do, but all he could say was that he was sorry and there was nothing he could do😐😐😐

Very tasty. Clean. Nice staff. Many people what means that place is popular. I always notice such kind of things.

Not to be missed if you are craving for Chinese food

Really authentic Szechuan food and great value but cash only. Had the special - chicken and green beans which is unreal, one of the nicest Chinese dishes I've ever tried.

Been here twice, both times the food and service were great! Food is homely and comforting! Left purse in the restaurant on my first visit, the waitresses kept it safe for more than 2 months! Thank you for returning my purse safely!

My girlfriend and I went there on Monday night. We ordered four dishes (beef and tripe (夫妻肺片), sour cabbage (醋溜白菜），kimchi and vermicelli (酸菜粉丝), lamb claypot (干锅羊排)). The sour cabbage and the lamb claypot are just ok. The kimchi and vermicelli are very plain. The beef and tripe had no beef or tripe. It was made of heart, tongue and louver. We asked a waitress. She said she would check with the boss if it could be returned. A few minutes later, a different waitress came to us and said it couldn't be returned and their recipe was just different. I had ordered this dish in many Chinese restaurants in various countries. This was the first time for us to receive something different! We ended up not eating this dish but still had to pay for it.

This is an odd place or it certainly was for me. First thing I was greeted with was being told it’s cash only. After running over the road to Tesco Express cash machine, I took a seat. I tried to order a Chinese beer but was told it’s bring your own. I couldn’t be bothered heading back to Tesco so I had a Sprite. I was given a double sided A4 encapsulated limited menu and ordered quarter duck and a chicken main with rice. This does seem to be a place where the Chinese eat which for me is always a good sign. I noticed that tables with Chinese diners were given chopsticks by default. However, I was given a knife and fork presumably as I’m white English. I asked for chopsticks but unfortunately they never arrived. I don’t know where the kitchen is but they communicate between the kitchen and restaurant floor via walkie-talkie. When you are ready for your next course, they jump on the radio and advise the kitchen. When the kitchen responded, I thought they had interference with the local taxi company. The toilets are mixed so it’s one toilet with 3 cubicles. That’s fine by me but maybe not for others. So here’s the thing, for all the quirkiness and it was quirky. The food is good albeit a limited menu. I would have liked chopsticks but not the end of the world. The young girl that served me was exceptionally attentive and polite even if she didn’t bring me my chopsticks. Next time I’m in Ireland I will probably even go back. It’s not for everyone but give it a try and make up your own mind.

We decided to try The Chilli House after reading positive reviews here and elsewhere. So very glad we did. The restaurant is small and basic, but clean and comfortable. The restaurant does not appear to be wheelchair accessible and the toilets are up a long, steep flight of stairs - challenging for those with mobility issues. The waiting staff are polite, knowledgeable and helpful. We love authentic Chinese food, but don't speak or read mandarin. The traditional dishes are pictured, but have no English translation of the ingredients. We asked for help and were soon tucking in to some of the tastiest pork, aubergine and fine green beans dishes we’ve ever eaten. We like it hot, hot, hot and were not disappointed. Just explain what you want and the staff will do their best to supply. Extra steamed rice was on the house. There was no service charge added to the very affordable bill and, when we offered a tip, our server said there was no charge for service and seemed slightly offended that we should offer! We are new regulars.

Me and my boyfriend are regular customers for over a year now and I have been recommending this place to everyone I know! First of all! The food is so delicious and the staff are so friendly! it is a shame that they have only 4atars it should be 5! It is really hard for me to go to another place than this! Because the food is unforgettable!! I take reviews seriously, but this place is under-rated❤️

Unusual spicy Chinese food, this place is usually full of Asian students, always a good sign. Ask for the Chinese menu and chose with the pictures, much more interesting dishes compare to the English menu.

Warm staff great food and unforgettable taste! The food are authentic and fresh. The staff are both warm and thorough. Make sure you reserve a table beforehand.

点了一个干锅肥肠，一个水煮牛肉，一个炒菜心，两碗汤。肥肠根本没入味，端上来的时候竟然是有点凉的，像是现成的料理包做出来的；水煮牛肉平白无味，基本上只有豆瓣酱的味道，色香味似乎只占了第一者，看上去红彤彤的，实际上不堪入嘴。最后，全程吃下来只有汤是入味的。

羊肉硬得像鸭胗，肥肠怀疑没洗干净，吃完回来几个人都反胃和胃疼，怀疑是食物中毒。不想上吐下泻一整天就别去吃😤

Great and authentic Chinese food - but if you're not Chinese you'll have to persuade them that you do want your food spicy! There is an English menu, but the Chinese menu is bigger and has the good stuff - you can use the Google translate app. Waiting staff are friendly, though not all speak English. Inside is basic but the food is more important here! Try the chili beef, and the aubergine side dish.

This restaurant threatened the student because of its own problems and called her to intimidate her. You can read the new bad reviews. I was listening to the real recording.

It was a bad experience. The most important thing is the price confusion. The restaurant didn't bring us rice. At the beginning, the waiter kept saying we didn't pay for the rice. But finally the boss called to check the price one by one and found that we had paid for the rice. Instead of admitting it was wrong, the restaurant belittled me and scolded me because I was a student.

The chilli chicken was literally 80% bones and gristle. The coating on the chicken was really tasty but apart from that it was simply just bones. Not sure how anyone can eat that. The second star was for the nice crispy coating but nothing is recommend.

Was on holiday in Belfast and popped into this restaurant, without reviewing about it. In this case, it was truly an awesome move. The service & meal was 110%!! Well recommended, so don't be put off by its basic layout, as The Chilly House is truly a hidden gem and my satisfied stomach can confirm that . .Hmmm!! It's a pity we have to go home now.. 😕😊

It's rare to find authentic Chinese food even in England, and the food here is amazing on the testament of the amount of crowd in this shop, we came quite early and yet its nearly packed to the brim with customers. Food is great, service is amazing and price is affordable. 1 of the places to visit if you're in Belfast for vacation.

The food was delicious. Caters to Chinese authentic tastes. The waitresses were very keen to check they'd got our order right. And they did! Great value for money too. Recommend it for authentic Chinese favourite dishes with a reasonable price and considerate service. The jasmine tea was great too! Always refilled!

My friends and I ordered food online, the chilli house were quite nice on the phone but we got our food back and the order was almost completely wrong. We complained and the manager was very unaccommodating with our incorrect order, blaming us for ordering the wrong thing even though we knew exactly what we ordered. After getting nowhere with that we decided to just eat the food. Halfway after eating the food, I find a piece of metal in my duck curry. Very appalling experience and a FOOD HEALTH HAZARD. As a Chinese person, this is the best Chinese food I’ve had in the UK so far. Will recommend and come back soon. The only bad thing is that there was only one waitress at a busy dinner time but she was very friendly and helpful. The owner should really hire more staff.

2 menus are available with the typical NI Chinese menu in English and the more authentic Chinese options in mandarin. We really wanted to the try authentic options but unfortunately we had to try and translate it on our phones. The staff were friendly and assisted us. We were told the tofu would come with a sour sauce but it ended up just being squidgy tofu in bisto gravy, very disappointing. The chili beef bowl was ok, but I'd be in no rush back. The other customers were given chopsticks, small spoons and plates but we weren't given these.

Excellent experience more akin to a real Chinese restaurant with the jasmine tea, rice bowls, chop sticks accompanying dumplings, green beans with minced pork and a chilli beef dish. Highly recommend for people looking a more authentic experience packed full of flavour and spice.

Absolutely beautiful Chinese I would recommend, very nice staff and lovely charming son. I think his name was ben if I am correct oh what a cutie, gave me a discount and he took me home that night! He slept on the couch what a gentleman!

This is an unassuming little place that you could easily walk by and miss. Don't. The food is very tasty and portion sizes are more than enough. Prices are very reasonable and I look forward to returning.

Absolutely amazing dining experience, the waitress was patient and polite, they offered great advice on food options and always checked with us whether we had any special requests. The food were literally ready in 15 mins after we ordered. Chinese speed surprised us all. They were all generous in portion and delicious in taste. Can’t find any faults at all, except I don’t have a big enough stomach to stuff all in. Will definitely recommend everyone to go and taste it, I promised you won’t regret.

Just went for a meal at this place me and a friend waited for 25 minutes on a table which was fine got seated waited another 10 minutes for service got to white paper menus so we ordered food from the only menu that was offered when the food came out it was like a takeaway two white plates small bowl of rice for two people and a small plate of chips when we we’re looking at other tables looked like all lovely food from a different menu seems to me like If you're not from the same background you are getting the cheap dishes not very happy when we left

While looking for a place to eat before a movie at the cinema, we wandered down Dublin Road and found our way into this wee place. The staff was friendly, efficient and welcoming. The food was phenomenal! We ordered beef black bean curry, sweet and sour pork, and chicken fried rice. The portions were massive! We had to pack up the leftovers, which doesn't happen too often. I was thoroughly impressed by and stuffed to the brim with our delicious meal. Definitely a must visit.

Price is not cheap but not expensive. The portion is generous and there are a lot of choices. Staff is very attentive too. Note that the restaurant only accepts cash.

I have eaten here twice in the last two months. The service and the food are excellent and I would highly recommend the establishment. The curry was perfect and the noodles cooked to perfection (yes, curry and noodles). Well worth a visit.

I love this place. Large menu with some westernised versions of Chinese dishes. Staff are excellent and friendly. I recommend ordering off the Chinese menu instead of the English. Portions design to share. Bring a couple of friends and get a feast.

A small cheap restaurant with a nice cuisine. The dishes came quickly and steaming hot. There is no alcohol served and no hot drinks, and one cannot pay by card, either. Do not take the last table at the end as otherwise the staff would always bother you taking out soft drinks and other ingredients from the fridge behind you.

本来想点麻辣香锅，发现一斤12磅里只有菜，肉要另加，2磅一份，觉得不实惠就没要。水煮肉片味道不错，只是不太辣。羊肉串1磅多一串特别大，羊膻味可以忍受的程度，肉很嫩，好吃！麻辣牛肉米线端上来惊了，一大盆，不辣，味道一般，分量很足。最惊喜的是夫！妻！肺！片！比国内还好吃，特别特别特别香，非常推荐辣！！！总体分量大，价格实惠，爱吃辣的胖友可能觉得一般，比较符合北方人重口的味道~

Best Sichuan food in UK, hands down!

While on a late conference call and feeling super hungry, I searched for the nearest restaurant. The Chilli House was only two doors away. After checking out the menu online I walked there to place a takeaway order. The young woman who initially helped me couldn't speak English (but assumed I could speak Mandarin because I am Chinese). While she went to find someone who could help me, I picked up a menu -- that was all in Chinese. I looked around -- all the diners were Chinese. I started to feel pretty good about my choice in restaurant but my expectations were still low (that's what happens when you travel a lot for business). I ordered my go-to favorite spicy tofu and to my surprise it was amongst the best I've ever had. My pork dumplings were also delicious. Having eaten at various places in China and in some of the best Chinese restaurants in Richmond BC, I was really impressed with The Chilli House's food and wished I had discovered this place on my first night vs. my last night in Belfast. I would have eaten here every single meal if I could have. It's a small business with a limited staff -- at least one of whom isn't fluent in English -- so adjust your expectations on that front. The food is worth it!

Keen price for city centre. Not fancy but decent food and prices.

I walked in and waited to be seated,but was ignored by young chinese waitress,who went to a young chinese man who came in and walked to the counter. I proceeded to the counter and they stared at me. Eventually I convinced them I wanted to sit and eat. I got a menu and then a friendly chinese girl with good english came and was so helpful. I ordered jasmine tea which was disappointing only made with a tea bag and little taste. My main of beef and black bean sauce with mushroom came quickly. Boiled rice is extra,not included. The beef was like velvet and the black bean sauce deep and tasty. But I only found one piece of mushroom. At a price for all of 11.50 it was only 50 pence for the tea. So I will be back and recommend it after my original hiccups.

Came here on New Years Eve, it was very busy, which is always a good sign, there were only two young girls serving, they were clearly out of their depth, but didn't refuse anyone a table. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions huge!...

Ate here many times and enjoyed it. Last Visit was appalling. Jellied chicken, beef as tough as old boots and glutenous fried rice. Terrible Chinese food.

Really authentic Northern Chinese food

Recently went to the chilli house as per of a party of about 15. The food was served very quickly and efficiently and the staff were great. I would definitely go back here.
