Saturday we got a take away from here, it was really lovely, piping hot,good portions, tasty. It took time to get our food ,but we didn’t mind as was very busy and a good indicator of good food as a lot of people waiting. Have to mention how friendly the staff are. And thanks for the free soft drinks that were offered to everyone waiting on their takeaways, nice gesture. We will be back

Food was 90mins late, 3 of 5 items were cold. Awful customer service. No refund and will never order again!

We love the food there, as always, and they do have some nice staff tbh, but not the one who served us today.

We were in at the start of the evening so there was no atmosphere (not their fault) but the food and wine were good and the service excellent

We had a beautiful meal here. The steak with black pepper was so tender and delicious. Service was fabulous and friendly and the decor is impressive. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Really great food, friendly and quick service with a nice chilled atmosphere. Some of the best Chinese food in Belfast for sure. Big portions sizes too so make sure you turn up hungry!

First time here tonight couldn't fault

accidentally delivered the wrong beef dish (understandable mistake as its busy on a friday evening), called up and let them know and they brought the correct meal out in no time at all with complimentary drinks. great customer service. thanks

8 of us dined ther this week. 6/24. The food was absolutely delicious . Portion sizes could have been bigger but it was all very, very tasty. Service was quite attentive and seating good. Also it's quite expensive - averaging about £35 pp. The toilets were upstairs which wasn't great and they were smelly, with some of the facilities not working. This was very poor and off putting. All in all, we'd go back, but will inquire if the toilet facilities have been renovated before hand.

The food was mediocre in flavour. Among other things, we ordered a curry. I've never eaten such a bad curry. And that for £12.80 and without rice. The menu does not list what is included in the dish. For example, whether mushrooms, peppers or something similar are included. The waitress was friendly but rather helpless when we asked. We didn't get a satisfactory answer to any of our questions. Another £5 was simply added to the total bill. This was done without giving any reason. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant.

SHOCKING!! No words to describe how I was spoken to by PAUL Ordered a delivery (first time) Rang back 40 mins later politely to be squealed at ‘its father’s day you know’ This horror of an induvial should be mindful not all of us have our fathers and then told me the food was cooking. 5 mins later it arrived????!! Leave this aside shouted I mean shouted did I want to my order to be cancelled in total shock I didn’t rely, again screamed down the phone at me. I only called and asked politely when we could expect the delivery. Phone was hung up on me!! In absolute disbelief of how I was spoken to I called back and asked to speak to the manager it was “Paul.” I rightly said how rude he had been to me, at this point he again starting shouting and he finished the call in which I was told to **** off!! I have never come across such horrendous service, behaviour in my life! Food itself was below average.

Ordered takeaway, phoned after 30 minutes to politely ask the status of the delivery, have never been met with such rudeness in all my life….were told how dare we phone after “15 minutes” (it wasn’t it was 30!) and where do we think our order is …its “being cooked in the kitchen” hung up on us and when we phoned back to ask to speak to the manager…seemingly it was this “Paul” himself …to which we were then told to “go f**k ourselves and our order is cancelled” absolutely outrageous way to speak to anyone, clearly has the social skills of a donkey and is unable to cope under pressure! Unfortunately the order turned up anyway despite him cancelling it, the food was severely lacking in something just like Paul the owner! Would never order from here again and certainly wouldn't recommend.

It's my go to place for spicy food - you do have to mention you want it spicy though. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Belfast.

The curry was a little weaker than i expected but overall a nice meal

They have a big menu to display but many items weren't available when we ordered and hence have to keep changing orders. The satay kabab was okay to taste, the abacus special dish was indeed special as it was extremely sweet (felt as if it's a sugar syrup). The chicken noodles, on other hand, was so dry that we had to mix with the abacus special dish so that we can swallow it. The udon noodles was alright. The only good dish was complementary prawn crackers. Overall, it's a highly disappointing dinner. I have had better Chinese food nearby in Belfast. Atmosphere is good as it's completely empty restaurant and we dropped in as we didn't get seats anywhere else. I don't think I a going to return anyways even if I don't get a place on future for dinner.

Inedible unfortunately - devastated to pay so much money for something we couldn't eat

Called in for something to eat on Sunday 21 April after a gig in the nearby Mandela Hall. It was late in the evening but despite this the staff were very friendly and accommodating. A wide variety of choices on the menu including draught beer. Service was prompt and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I would definitely return here

Black bean and salted chilli chicken are great. Chips were so crispy. The staff were so lovely as well.

Beautiful meal and friendly staff

Salt chilli chicken and beef was basically just batter, rock solid, with hardly any meat. Wasn’t the warmest when it arrived either.

Got special Honey Soya and Duck curry. Meat was poor quality for both. Dried rice was quite pale. Chips ok. Delivery was fast.

My boyfriend and I love abacus Chinese! The food is moderately expensive for a takeaway but definitely worth it if you are sitting in. The food is absolutely incredible. I recommend the king prawn fried rice, although I personally need to add more soy sauce. I also recommend the Singapore chow mein - I tried them last night and they were 10/10. The restaurant has a very nostalgic feel to it. It has the wooden interior of a late 2000s Chinese restaurant which I just love, however on our last visit there was a raucous coming from upstairs. I found this very off putting and it frustrated me during the 10 minutes we were there, so I can only imagine how annoying this must have been for the dining in- customers. Altogether, with friendly and helpful staff, delicious dishes and reasonable prices abacus Chinese is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Belfast city.

Comfort food, after a busy day!

We were staying at a hotel round the corner and thought we would try this restaurant. The food was really lovely and the service was good. I would most definitely recommend

VILE STAFF BE CAREFUL before ordering from here, and especially if you are using a third party app like Uber Eats. The restaurant offers zero updates on your wait times and gets offended if you call to request an update. I actually had a verbal argument with the loser on the other end of the phone, who chose to raise his tone to aggressive. I hung up on him and then he called me back to call me horrendous names down the phone. Not surprising he’s unhappy, working in a Chinese, but that aint our problem. AVOID

Food arrived 80 minutes late and wasn’t the warmest either. Took 30 minutes to get a response from the restaurant regarding the order. Very poor!

The manager text me to apologise for a mixup with the driver and proceeded to call the druver stupid, not the brightest, and not the smartest. Over text message. Awful awful customer service. Food was nice but would hate to work for these gangsters. Avoid avoid avoid.

We were stopping at a hotel 100yds away, but didn’t like their menu. It was a Saturday night and we spotted this restaurant and didn’t think for a minute they would be able to accommodate us. We spoke to the manager and he seated us straight away, the staff were very friendly, efficient and professional. The food was delicious, we couldn’t fault it. If we visit Belfast again we wouldn’t hesitate to call back.

Don’t bother ordering from here via Just Eat, they cannot cope with the volumes. We waited 2.25hrs for our order and barely an apology. The delivery man wasn’t even supposed to be working tonight. Food was usual great quality.

Ist time visiting Belfast, staying at hotel, near Abacus. Lovely Saturday evening, I walked around for over an hour looking for somewhere nice to eat but literally, after trying 7 restaurants, all fully booked - I began to think a chicken wrap and crisps were going to be my dining experience - when my lovely reception hotel staff rang Paul at Abacus and managed to get me a table for one person. Paul even met me at the front door. Waiting staff were very attentive, food arrived hot, plentiful and delicious, I was delighted. Would heartily recommend. Clearly a very popular local restaurant.

The reputation for this place is what gets you in the door and once you’re there you see exactly why. The cantonese decor is warm and welcoming and the staff are happy to help, the food really hits the spot and is music selection is top tier, Get the barbecue sauce

Reviu para españoles, un chino con comida no tradicional y no tiene nada que ver con los de España, los platos son por persona y mediocres. Otro concepto de restaurante chino que lo hace peor que los que puedes encontrar en cualquier barrio español.

The food is generally decent, but please explain to one member of your staff that in some circumstances a person may not hear a phone ringing, and it is not a productive use of anyone's time to give a rude and condescending lecture on the doorstep. Will order elsewhere in future.

Unfortunately our food was cold and soggy on arrival as it was an hour and a half late.

We used to go to this place regularly. My favourite dish was the crispy chicken with honey soya sauce which was always very tasty, nice thick sauce on crispy chicken with chopped celery. Visited this evening. Place looks so run down and dirty. My spring rolls had no filling like they were from Iceland. My main dish was horrible not like it was, just a bowl of brown water with battered chicken floating in it and a stick of celery. Worst of all, prices were massive AND to add insult to injury was TOLD at the till to pay a ten percent service charge on TOP. Awful. Avoid not the Abacus I remember with fondness but a dump with overpriced poor food.

My daughter persuaded me to order from the Abacus and for a change she was right. Possibly the best Chinese takeaway that I’ve ever had. Kung Po chicken was superb. Thank you😁
