Dumpling Library in Belfast

Great food, so many things I want to try I'm going to have to go back. Cocktails were excellent and the service perfect. Music was a little loud as other folk have mentioned and there was a subtle but noticeable high pitched noise the entire time. Maybe that's why the music is loud! Lol. Will definitely go back though.

Really great food and innovative takes on old school classic Asian food. The flavours were good, however I would’ve preferred having more protein in some of my food as I felt it was very noodle heavy. Though the price for the portion size is great

It is a very nice place. But loud. The food was amazing and the service was great. Just that you had to shout most of the time

Rainbow dumplings were nice. Duck bao bun was nice. Sauce on takoyaki was nice but was expecting some octopus inside. Curried pepper squid was very poor - the batter was oily and the squid was tough (we had one each, then left the rest). The Korean chicken and rice crackers was oddly unbalanced with very small pieces of (tasty) chicken and lots of thick rice crackers (not finished); tempura prawn and avocado - again poor and unfinished, fried avocado had a slimy texture and the prawns had a strong “fishy” taste. Sweet potato fries were ok but not worth the £1.50 surcharge. And to top it off, there was a 10% service charge automatically added to our bill- really regret not asking for this to be removed. All in all, I wish we’d spent our £80 elsewhere.

Got the sliced beef in teriyaki sauce. Sauce was great but beef was way too hard and chewy. Atmosphere was calm and relaxing. And service was good. Pricing is okay was £85 for me and my partner. I feel like people would come more often including us if it was slightly less priced. But good experience 👍

Not really sure about the choice of music for the place since they played some anime ost but I enjoyed it 😂 Food was great!

Had to ask 3 servers for water before it arrived, service not particularly friendly. Some dishes ok, but some poorly executed - crispy duck pancakes - pancake was stale and katsu curry was really dried out and leathery chicken. Astonished to find a 10% service charge added to the bill which is written in small writing at the back of the menu and when asked to remove I was told it’s added to parties of 4 or more. essentially not getting the message I wanted it removed so ended up paying anyway. Really disappointing.

First time here and we wanted to taste the menu. Some dumplings and ramen and home happy. We will return for more. Recommended.

Really nice restaurant. Staff were all very friendly, the food was really good. I went alone got 2 small plates, a boa bun & a drink and it came to £27. I didn’t actually enjoy the Chicken strips but I think that was personal preference rather than an issue with the food. Nice atmosphere & modern.

Visited here with my boyfriend a few weeks ago. The service was excellent considering how busy it was. The atmosphere was lively as even on a Tuesday, the restaurant was pretty much full. The food was amazing, we shared a soup dumplings which were delicious, and the sweet and sour pork was THE BEST sweet and sour sauce I’ve ever had. The drinks were really well made too.

Service was excellent, staff could not have be more helpful. Food was good ( salt and chilli duck really tasty). We ordered 6 plates and 3 drinks and it came to around £60 which was pretty reasonable.

Been here twice in the last month. Some good deals on. The dumplings are a speciality as per the name and plentiful, especially the purple coloured minced beef type. Had a delicious Apple Martini as part of their Mix and Match deal along with Tom Yum Chicken Soup which is really flavourful. The portions are much bigger than expected. A few things however: surcharges for ordering dumplings on the deal were not on the menu. My friend ordered the draught beer and it was £7 for less than a pint. Transparency is lacking on what was a generally good meal.

The place looks lovely, the service is attentive without being intrusive, and the food is delicious just remember not to order any alcoholic drinks - £6.95 for a pint is ridiculous but they don't give you a pint they serve 2/3 of a pint - and that - is daylight robbery, equating to £10 a pint. Go for the food but - for gods sake and the sake of your wallet - do not go for a drink. Next time, and I'm sure there will be a next time, I'm sticking to water.

The staff at this restaurant were excellent; they are very attentive and communicate well with the kitchen. I can recommend the filet dumplings (steamed) – the flavor within the dumpling mixed with the soy, vinaigrette, and garlic sauce is a burst of flavor... They are at The Dumpling Library. If you are drinking non-alcoholic drinks, the "Kowloon Burst" is highly recommended. Overall, highly recommended.

Exceptionally good in every way. Located just off the cathedral quarter this place is fantastic. The staff, really friendly and welcoming. The food excellent. The wine was very high quality. Singapore spiced vermicelli was soo good, I bit lively but the giveaway is in the name. Chicken katsu curry - full of flavour and delicious. A good array of drinks, wine and cocktails. Very good value for the quality of the food. This is a must visit

Great vegan dumplings and Tom yam soup

i was very disappointed. the octopus ball was a dough ball containing a tiny cube of chewy substance? crispy duck and thai chicken , hard , dry tasteless overcooked frozen pieces that comes out with no fresh ingredients nor sauce. seafood bowl contains white gelatinous unidentifiable lumps and salmon fishcake is a dry square of processed food with no fresh fish

My visit to Dumpling Library was a mixed experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is truly lovely, deserving a full five stars for its beautiful setting. However, there were aspects of the service that were less impressive. While I understand the mandatory 10% service charge, the issue arose when paying in cash. The change was not returned by the server, who assumed it was intended as a tip. Given that the service was only average, we hadn't planned on leaving a tip beyond the service charge. Although it was just a few pounds, the assumption made us feel slightly uncomfortable.

Pass if you are looking for authentic dim sums. But if you are really craving for it, then give it a try. We really wanted dim sums, so we were a bit disappointed.

This was an extremely disappointing experience for us. We received our food and were shocked at the lack of quality. The food was so bland and distasteful , the noodles came out in a piping hot dish and were incredibly dry (straight from the microwave) the prawn tempura was mushy and just tasted like stale batter…. We barely finished the food, received our dessert which came straight from the fridge and still had plastic all over it, re emphasising the fact that none of this food was fresh. we didn’t want to complain but when the waiter asked us for our feedback I explained our disappointment He told us he would tell the chefs and alter our bill, However we received the bill with no price alteration and paid over £100 for a meal we would have had better in our local Chinese restaurant for £20. We came here two years ago and talked about who excited we were to return as our first experience was so incredible, unfortunately we will never be returning here again. Positives- cocktail , atmosphere was good and staff were friendly

Disappointing dumplings, steamed dumplings came swollen with thick and starchy skins, the filling also lacked flavour. There are much better and affordable places to get authentic and tasty dumplings in Belfast. Despite booking ahead our table had to wait 30 minutes past our booking time while they took over tables before us who had booked for the same time. Wish I had a better experience but I won't be back here in a rush.

Not sure if I got them on a bad day, but the food was 2/10. Bland and tasteless, could’ve closed my eyes and I wouldn’t have been able to differentiate between the 5 flavours of dumplings. Sadly disappointing as I’ve been looking forward to trying it for months. Would not go back or recommend to any others. Definitely nowhere near worth the £90+ we spent.

We came here for the last night of a long weekend away after seeing the good reviews. The ambience and general decor of the restaurant is nice but it quickly went downhill. Service was very slow (waited 15 minutes to order drinks only for 3 staff members to turn up at once and talk over one another) and the food was completely bang average. The dumplings were fine but lacking any wow factor, the bao buns and noodles/rice were bland so we had to ask for sweet chilli sauce to accompany. Very overhyped for what is essentially a tarted up Chinese! Cocktails were extremely good however, even if it took 20 minutes to order and receive them. Staff weren't friendly either. Would possibly pop back in for a drink but definitely wouldn't entertain the food unless some serious changes were made.

Had a lovely experience at Dumpling Library last night. The staff were very welcoming and attentive from the moment we arrived until we left! The Alice In Wonderland cocktail was presented in such a fun and experimental way, definitely one to try. Food was fresh and we loved the dumplings, nice variety of dishes to try. I'm already thinking about my next visit.

We got the tasting menu with the drinks pairing and we thought it was really good value, really enjoyed it, would definitely recommend!

Went for late lunch first time here what can I say can't really say you have to try this place best food in Belfast buy a country mile

I’ve been several times before and has always been good. However, this time I was very disappointed. Service was terrible. Waited 30mins for a bottle of wine to be delivered to the table. Also, food wasn’t hot enough when it arrived. Will be a long time before I return here for a meal.

We sat in one of the pods outside. It was nice experience. Plenty of good food choices we ordered half a dozen small plates between 3 with rice and chips. Really nice, service was good.

we came here to celebrate my sisters birthday and they were really nice, we had to wait a long time but they were clear about that and entertained us with the menu. we saw how they hurried as much as possible to let us in and even one waitress sang happy birthday to my sister, making all of us really happy. we would love to come back here, the food was amazing and really creative as well

Great food made to order. Not long of a wait, dumplings were fantastic. The dumpling draft beer was really nice as well. Everything was worth the money. Cool ambiance and busy but not super wild or loud. Enjoyable to sit down and take in the environment.

To be honest, the small plates aren't worth the money in my opinion. Taste good but nothing impressive. The main plates are yum and the vibe is lovely. Really good cocktails too

I was slightly worried when I read reviews about service being slow as we had a concert just over an hour after our booking but I have to say I was delighted to be proven wrong. Service was amazing from the moment we stepped through the doors with orders taken quickly and food and drink arriving not long after. The food itself was outstanding and we have already recommended it to friends and family and can't wait to go back. Great value for money too. Cocktails were also delicious.

Dumpling Library is an upmarket Asian fusion restaurant in St. Anne's Square. The interior is very well designed with a large number of waiting staff and dedicated bar staff to ensure the food/drink is served super efficiently. There is a section for vegans to conveniently choose from, any of the options are well delivered. The food standard here is very high with speed, presentation and flavour all being taken into account. We had a selection or the Vegan options with the Aubergine and yellow bean sauce being the stand out dish. As well as the unbelievably delicious vegan cheesecake which may have been one of the best I have ever had, let alone in an Asian restaurant! I will warn people that because of all the above mentioned benefits it will come at a slightly higher cost but I personally feel it is good value based on the high standard set. Overall if you enjoy Asian food and are looking for a more fancy dining experience you will not be disappointed! 😁

We had a nice meal here before a concert at the SSE Arena (15-min walk). The atmosphere and location were above par; service was very, very friendly. The food was good but sometimes lacking the flavour or punch I was expecting. Overall a worthwhile experience!

Good concept, food presented well but the flavour was just average. The deep fried spinach wontons had barely any filling, like 1/4tsp max, and the dipping sauce was extremely sweet. The fried tofu salad was nice especially the sesame dressing, noodles were okay but had clumps where they were soft and stuck together. The bao bun was also soaked in oil on one side so my friend didn’t finish it. Overall it wasn’t really worth the money, I wouldn’t go back

This was my second visit in the last two years and, just like the first time, both the food quality and service were outstanding. We showed up on a Saturday night with no reservation and, despite the place being really busy, we were given a table provided we left within an hour. We ordered about 6 or 7 different items from the menu, each of which were delicious. The staff were welcoming, and the food was served quickly. I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in Belfast.

This restaurant is wonderful. We had amazing drinks, wonderful ambiance, and stellar food. We ate everything! The dumplings we fantastic - really everything was fantastic. Highly recommend.

A mixed experience.. some flavourful dishes yet some flavourless dishes left us feeling confused and disappointed. The steamed dumplings and aubergine yellow bean were delicious, however, the pumpkin tempura and salted chilli tofu lacked taste and seasoning. Ever dish looked amazing but some failed on taste. The atmosphere is lovely but the service was not that attentive. Overall we left feeling a little disappointed.

Goodness me. What is cooked fresh here? Dropped 100 notes on a lot of deep fried pastry and some very poor bao with measly (pre cooked) fillings. Avoid. Is going for style over substance. Do better.

I'd most definitely recommend Dumpling Library. We were very impressed by the food and will definitely be back. The staff were friendly and helpful, giving recommendations from their menu. I think this might be my new favourite restaurant in Belfast.

The dumplings were very good. There is a lunch deal which is pretty affordable. The staff was very nice.

I have been on a two week trip through our the Irish island and haven’t bothered yet to leave a review, but for this place I will. IGNORE the bad reviews and go. This is a 5 star place. Half of my family has a gluten allergy and was able to choose off of a gluten free menu and loved our dishes. The staff was absolutely top notch- so kind and helpful. The food was delicious and even though they describe it as Asian tapas, I thought the portions were generous. Definitely take the time to eat here especially if you are gluten free and haven’t been able to enjoy these foods.

Amazing food, great service and lovely spot. Is a recommendation of quality restaurant whenever family come over from out of country. Very very expensive though. Makes it a limited treat which is a shame.

The atmosphere was only good because i was with two really cool people

Would not recommend, we were 15 minutes late (our fault) due to traffic and tried to ring honestly 50 of times to let them know and there was no answer. We ordered the pork soup dumplings as one of the mains and they tasted quite bad and I noticed they were literally raw on the inside, I ate one not realising and didn’t touch them again. Everything seemed to be frozen and then flash cooked and served, it was not quality food at all and I’m not hard to impress. We were also overcharged and said so to the waiter and he reiterated it was correct so we just paid (£40 each) and left lol don’t go here.

Took my girlfriend out for dinner here. The staff were extremely kind and professional. From the moment we arrived to the second we were leaving we were treated like VIP’s despite being the general paying public. The waiting service were very punctual, positive and polite. The portion sizes were small, but very tasty and well cooked, and despite us not getting much, the part we had was enough to fill both myself and my girlfriend (we both only had a side and a main). The area as well is very welcoming. Ann’s Square is a clean and polished part of cathedral quarter. Anyone in the area looking for a place to eat, I would highly recommend dumpling library. It’s just around the corner of the Ramada hotel, and is well worth the visit for some top food and lovely staff.

Wonderful ambience and staff. Mouthwatering wasabi taco which I could never have imagined to taste like that. amazing soup dumplings. In the rainbow dumpling platter, each item tasted so differently that I had to say wow after each one. Pork and beef ones were my favourite whereas my friend loved the veg one. However the portion was a bit smaller. Sake platter was again too good that it's a must try drink there. finally, I had the best banoffe pie ever here! I wished the price was a bit lower. I felt it's 2£ higher each item than average. But tastes brilliantly.

The experience overall was quite nice. The service was very friendly and courteous- But also super slow. It was really confusing trying to leave, as we had to ask for the bill twice. We enjoyed all of the food we tried. Some of it, I had looked at on their socials prior, and did think it might be plated or presented differently, but I can understand it's not always the same. The atmosphere in this place is nice- Well decorated and well laid out. It was pretty loud, music wise, and that might change what kind of event I planned here. For me it was just dinner with friends, and I might have liked somewhere we could better hear one another. Overall, a very fun and visually appealing place for some delicious food.

Dumpling library is just such a gorgeous place. My go to for everything. Whether I want to eat a full meal or just a soup. The prices and quantities are just perfect, and very tasty food. I get here for anything, special occasion or not. Seating is the best part. I don't like sitting on wooden chairs. They have these comfy mattresses seating which I love. And dumplings? Excellent. I usually try to stick to the basic ones, not the fancy coloured ones, they didn't work for me. Soups are excellent. Overall a great place, nothing to complain. Service? Inclusive, courteous, attentive. Again, great! Thumbs up guys

Solid restaurant for a large selection of Asian cuisine (mostly Chinese). Good variety and value with the set menus. Service is very polite but a bit slow. Lovely setting. Clean.

Delicious dumplings and asian-fusion menu. We had the 6 course tasting menu which was good value at £35 per head. They have an extensive cocktail menu with some unusual ingredients such as Lychees and Dragonfruit Gin. Big restaurant so rather noisy with large groups.

Food not quite at the quality level one expects with premium cost.

Tapas style Japanese with smaller plates. The vegetable spring rolls and the cauliflower were really good. The Garden Mocktail (passionfruit, apple and pineapple) was gorgeous. The spinach wontons though were not our taste.

It wasn't my best experience with dumplings or Asian food, but it wasn't bad either. The service was good, and the interior design and atmosphere were excellent. However, the loud music was annoying. We went as a group, and it was difficult to have a conversation at that noise level.

Wow! What an amazing find. We were staying at the Ramada next site and were just looking for something to eat and stumbled upon this absolute gem. Amazing food, Great service, unique outside dining "pods" that were very cozy.

Really enjoyed the food here. It has an extensive menu, we chose the special offer which was 3 dishes plus a side dish plus a cocktail or glass of wine for £33.95. Everything was delicious, would definitely recommend.

Went with a large group, dishes were served unequally, members of the party had nearly finished their dishes while others only had one dish served. Food is ok, there’s better places in Belfast however

Would really recommend the pear cocktail. The Mix and Match deal was extremely filling, I definitely could have gone for a nap after this, it was a struggle to finish off my sweet potato chips .

Beautiful. Great food and service

No slimline tonic, no sugar free lemonade, no Guinness 0.0. The food was OK.... cooked really well but was just OK. Curry and pepper squid rings... came out with no Curry or pepper so they were just squid rings, again cooked well but not what we wanted. Quite underwhelmed and probably won't be back...sorry.

I came on a Friday for lunch the waiter who had a lovely personality and was smiling sat me at a table which had a lovely view I then picked out what I wanted to eat, another waiter came to take my order, he was also was smiling and was very happy, I ordered my food and waited and a short time later my food came out which was steak dumplings they came out in a traditional steamer and a dipping sauce, the dumplings were filled with sauce and steak bits, best food I have ever had in my life, if you don’t know if you should go, just go and experience the best time of your life. Lots of variety, everything was delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

Just another generic Asian restaurant in Belfast, I feel it's way over-hyped for the food that I had, Macau on the Ormeau is much better and more authentic IMO

This place is geared towards an instagram/tiktok crowd. The food looks the part but it really lacked flavour in pretty much everything we ordered. We started off with 4 dishes with the intention of ordering more but when we tasted everything, we bailed. There are so many better places in Belfast for quality food - zen is a similar menu but much better in flavour. Wouldn’t return I’m afraid. Ps. What’s with the weird photographer?

Good quality. Portions are not big, but filling. The price seemed more convenient on the paper, but still ok.

Absolutely amazing. I’m obsessed with all things dumplings, and these are easily the best I’ve ever had (I’ve tried them in Australia and USA). Lovely place to sit in and eat, staff were super friendly and the food was well worth the price. Would definitely go back. The sweet and sour pork strips, along with the pork dumplings (pictured), were AMAZING.

Decided to attend the dumpling library to get the six course tasting menu. We were really excited to try dumpling library after hearing good reviews from friends and family. It’s safe to say we were let down. The service was top tier from some staff, however some staff clearly did not want to be there. We had to ask on three separate occasions for chop sticks, which we did not receive until our third course. The food was lacking substance and flavour. Even salt and pepper would have been appreciated. Bland bland bland. The beef was as chewy as an old boot. They served what tasted like shredded wheat with a slither of chicken hidden amongst it. To top it all off, we reviewed the menu on the way home to realise they completely missed our first course out. Avoid, go to your local take away.

Visited here during my stay in Belfast and absolutely loved it!! The food was incredible, we all ordered a variety of dishes and we loved all of them! We got the deal which came with a few sides and a cocktail, it was plenty of food and the cocktail was delicious. The staff were really friendly and great ambience in there! There is so much choice on the menu and great vegetarian options too - I thoroughly recommend this place!

Having been at this restaurant on our previous trip to Belfast and really enjoyed it, we had to revisit. We weren't disappointed. Busy Sunday lunchtime but service was still friendly and efficient. We had a selection of small plates, all of which were tasty. Particular praise must go to the Bao Buns and the pork ribs - both were excellent.

Food was deep fried and rubbery. It resembled food that had been plated up earlier and reheated. We were hoping for a fresh variety of flavours. Sadly we were not happy. We left and went and got a bowl of soup to warm us up . Not for us sorry

It is a lovely spot, modern and always busy . Staff members constantly checking is everything OK or if we need more drinks etc. Food is tasty too, good choice of cocktails . Definitely must visit place in Belfast.

This place has dropped its standards massively, since I last visited in 2022. The spinach wontons summed it up: barely a trace of any filling in them at all. The crab salad consisted of mostly batter with only a tiny shred of crab meat. It’s as though the owners want to maximise profit at the expense of quality. It was sad because I was really looking forward to visiting again. I definitely won’t be going back. There are plenty of alternative places to eat in Belfast which are really good.
