Fast service and tasty food. We went for dumplings, veggie spring rolls and beef hand pulled noodles. I was the only non-Chinese person there, which is always a good sign! We will definitely be back.

Very interesting Asian fusion food all at a very reasonable price, a stone throw away from Belfast City Hall.

Gangnan is one of the few places in Belfast I genuinely enjoy when it comes to their Asian Food. It is a recommended go to!

Secret QUBSU for Chinese student, 100% orginial Chinese cuisine

I was unaware this restaurant existed, very tranquil, pleasant atmosphere, great friendly service, the food was delicious & served very quickly!

Good Chinese but it is 'quirky' so be prepared. The food is worth it. Cash only. Language barrier can be a problem. Don't be backward about coming forward in this restaurant. Table service is limited at peak times. More authentic style of cooking. My favorite is spicy minced pork with green beens 🔥. Lots of Chinese students eat here in-between lectures so service is quick and good value.

After shopping at the Asian supermarket, this restaurant makes a nice stop. Food is delicious, the portion is substantial. Prices are affordable. Pleasant ambient music makes the experience rekaxing.

So nice noodles. I went here to have a fried noodles with my friends. However you can pay with just cash, not with card. It is inconvenient.

Just to make it clear, the only reason for me not giving this restaurant one star, is simply down to the fact that I didn't find a cockroach in my food. After a pleasant day strolling around, my partner and I had been looking for a nice sit-in meal when we decided on Gangnan in Stranmillis, an establishment we had passed by many times - a claim which we now regret no longer being able to make. The ordering process turned out to be problematic as the person working in the restaurant didn’t approach us when we sat down but instead took a seat across from us and started eating a dish of their own. It’s never good to be left feeling that you’ve irritated a waiter by asking for food. Anyhow, we placed our order: honey chilli char siu for me and hot Peking sauce with mixed vegetables for my partner. What could possibly go wrong? Well, everything. First of all, this is probably the last restaurant in Belfast that does not accept card payments, so a dash up Stranmillis Road was necessary to locate an ATM. Shortly after we had paid, our food appeared, wrapped in a plastic bag. Our sit-in meal had become a takeaway. You could possibly blame this on a communication breakdown or claim that we should have clarified where we wanted to eat, but when you enter a restaurant, sit down at the table and order a meal you generally expect to be consuming that meal at the table. That was probably the point where we should have highlighted the confusion and asked for a couple of plates and some cutlery, however after a brief discussion we opted to make the short journey home because we didn’t feel welcome there at all. Had the nosh been tasty, I wouldn’t have bothered leaving a bad review, but it was beyond vile. For a start, we received neither the honey chilli char siu nor the hot Peking sauce with mixed vegetables - a mistake made all the more remarkable when you consider we were the only customers. We instead both ended up with the exact same meal: overcooked vegetables in an unidentifiable watery, tasteless sauce (not a single piece of meat in either). It was repulsive. I tasted both portions and couldn't tell the difference. I’d like to be able to tell you that at least the complimentary prawn crackers were tasty, but they were equally revolting, tasting of rancid fat. It would not be an understatement to say that this undoubtedly ranks up there with the worst dining experiences of my life. There are quite a few nice, tasty, authentic Asian restaurants in Belfast. This isn’t one of them.

Gangnan is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Belfast. The food is so fresh and consistently delicious.

Very authentic tasting Chinese food and reasonable prices. Could do better with floor hygiene (sticky floor).

The decor let's this place down but the food is really really good and reasonably priced and it's bring your own alcohol which is a nice bonus! Highly recommended

Not sure I was served Beef, or Beef-flavoured sand. So dry that the twigs of 'meat' turned to dust in my mouth. My friend's chicken was normal, even nice. But oh god, the beef. Awful. Truly awful.

Great food and very fast service, my son is very fussy eater and even he enjoyed it a lot and tried a lot of new things during dinner.

I was a massive fan of this place even when it was under its previous name "Iso Sushi". Sushi was always amazing and the owner was a very nice fella. I moved out of the area and had been dying to get back for 2 years. Today I was working in the area and told my work mate how amazing this place is! WELL walked in and no lights on.... eventually the owner showed up and I said hi... dont think reconised me.... He shouted "TAKEAWAY ONLY!!" ... I am aware everywhere is takeaway only. I asked where is the sushi menu.... "NO SUSHI!!! NO SUSHI GO NOW!" I dont know what I possibly have done to offend this once nice man. But after that my friend even said "how could you have possibly liked him or his sushi" Dissapointed is an understatement and after looking at other reviews here it seems hes lost interest in his once amazing sushi place. Guess ill need to find somewhere else!

Fussy kids loved it. A vast menu which is not easy to navigate. Found several dishes to try. They were delicious. We will return.

Delivery driver rang the doorbell and just left the food siting on the windowsill and walked back to his car. Terrible service.

Horrible expierence last night. Ordered salt chili chicken, noodles and rice half and half and curry sauce as well as a chicken noodle dish. Everything arrived bar the salted chili chicken. Rang the store and then 45 mins later sent out the salted chilli chicken, except when opening it it appeared to be an egg omelette. Rang the store again for them to answer and say that the driver had “gone home” and then when I asked them if I could just get my order or a refund for my chicken they hung up. I then rang back for them to just answer and not speak for 10 mins whilst I was on the call. Decided to then ring the driver which he answered and apologised and said that he had accidentally given me his dinner instead and that he was “too far away now” but could come back but “it would be an hour or so as I have to go home to pick my wife up as she wonders where I am late at night”. It was ten pm.

After an hour there was no sign of my food. Phoned the shop to have the manager phone me back and say I had rang and cancelled which I hadn’t. She also told me she had phoned me 10 times which she hadn’t. It turns out she was mistaking me for someone else. Sometime later she figured out that the staff hadn’t accepted my order and I hadn’t been informed by either the store or just eat. By this stage it was 2 hours since I originally ordered. Very disappointed.

Went there this evening and ordered various types of dumplings to take home. Got home, shared them, and yummy! Great dumplings, fresh and tasty! 👌

Completely inedible. Chicken was clearly old. Rice like wer cardboard. Everything tasteless aside from the sodium - almost as salty as I currently am about spending money on this place.

Gravy was awful, chips weren't cooked, chicken and rice were greasy.

They have a great choice of hot food as well as sushi. The staff are always friendly and the service is great. I've sat in a few times, but usually get my order to go. The sauce that comes with the dumplings is fantastic and the deep fried pumpkin is amazing.10/10

The pork buns were delicous. Would recommend for authentic chinese dishes. Defnitely will go back to try some of the other dishes.

The food was cold and the soup was very thick.

The food was fine. I should be complaining about the late food, however I feel I shouldn't seeing as the poor delivery boy had to cycle to my house in the torrential rain and was absolutely soaked, somehow he kept the food warm. He deserves a pay rise or at least a car.

Food was great love the dumplings, deliver guy on the bike is one of the most polite friendly and we'll mannered ppl I've had to meet such a polite guy he's a credit

DIM SUM!!!! Glorious food. Absolutely lovely dim sum and tempura, although it was a crumb coating, but i cared not for it was gorgeous. Go eat. Roll home happy

Menu could do with a tweak - salt and chilli chips alongside the salt and chilli meals e.g. Duck or Chicken. But the food was exceptionally tasty and the Duck was actually very succulent! Currently nursing a huge food baby named Tyrian.

Great selection, typical “western” Chinese dishes are done perfectly including their sweet n sour chicken, and also a wide variety of authentic Chinese mains and side dishes. This is a place where many Chinese people will come to eat, which in my opinion is a good sign!

Whilst the food was 20 minutes earlier than the time I was given via the app there was a part of my order missing. I rung the restaurant and was told that they would be sending the delivery driver with it and it would be 5/10 minutes. That was over half an hour ago. If it’s not here by 9pm - 10 minutes away - I will be ringing again and contacting just eat. Ridiculous

arrived a bit late and place was empty . food served quickly but portions a bit on small side. beef stir fry very tasty. staff friendly . advertised as BYO but we were unaware that we were going to pay £1 for the pleasure off opening our own beer. raised at end and manager said next time we come in there will no charge.

20 pound threw straight into the bin!! Where do i even start the gravy chips 🤢 were hard chips soaked in a brown water!! How that was served to anyone is beyond me!! The springrolls were a disgrace paid near 4 pound for them to come tinier that the mini spring rolls and whatever green stuff that was in them was awful! The rice was cold and lumpy the pking chicken was so soggy and slimy i wouldnt even chance eating it... this place is usually nice but after tonight i will never eat from here again. Can sombody get back to me please i want a full refund

Food arrived 50 mins late cold and incomplete when speaking to the lady who answered the phone whe was very rude told me that I would get a refund and then didn’t. Will never recommend this place to anyone

the dosages where a bit small for the normal, example, there was only 5 thin pancakes for half a duck, which ended up being eaten by its own because there was not enough pancakes, the squid was definitely not even half of the bucket. I’ll try another one next time

Really tasty Chinese food. The portions are rather big ones, the prices for a meal are around £12. The bubble tea is on the menu, what I personally consider to be a huge advantage.

really poor service and the food was dreadful when it eventually arrived. ordered at 7 pm and the original delivery time was 7.45 - this was changed to 8.15 after they had accepted the order. Rang at 8.25 and they said it was on the way then again 20 minutes later when it still hadn’t arrived. We ordered wontons which had absolutely no filling - just greasy flat bits of filo. The “Vietnamese” spring rolls were just standard greasy pre-made rubbish, not the fresh rice paper rolls we were expecting. The special fried rice was just standard fried rice with 4 small pieces of chicken and 2 prawns on top - no veg or anything. The only nice thing was the miso soup but unfortunately half of it had spilled in the bag making the spring rolls even more soggy. Definitely won’t order from here again.

Did not get any message from the restaurant that the food would be late. When I called them, they were unable to tell me an estimated time as well.

Good food and a nice setup but badly let down by the service. I got a main course instead of a neighbouring table and my dining partner got no main course. Our waitress appeared to speak little to no English. Disappointing.

Came here with my 2 year old a little after 5pm and was made to feel most unwelcome. No table service and wasn't allowed to quickly order from the counter either even though we were clearly in a rush as like all 2 year olds my daughter was impatient. They ignored us and were unfriendly. After eventually going to the counter again (as no one would serve me) I then wasn't allowed to order from the menu I had chosen and was instead directed to a more expensive list...I still ordered a dish and some prawn crackers. After nearly half an hour we still hadn't received our food despite many other (Chinese) customers arriving after us and receiving their order without any fuss or need for a special menu. After eventually losing patience and insisting I should get the food to take out (30 mins of crying child later) I was charged £17 for 1 chicken dish with rice. I pointed out this cost and the time wasted, and the fact other Chinese customers arrived well after us but were served far quicker, and was told something along the lines of 'they ordered something different...'. Basically if you're not Chinese you appear to get very different service here, I suspect at a far more expensive cost. I will be avoiding in future for sure.

I regularly visit this restaurant for lunch, typically ordering salted chilli squid, soya beans and a plate of sushi. The food is fantastic.

Amazing food, very big portions. I’m a loyal customer mostly due to the wee woman who works there 24/7. She gives me student lunch discounts that none of the other staff seem to offer.

Try the mixed seafood fried rice

Half and half was so greasy I couldn’t really eat much of it. The curry was bland and the chicken had a texture that I honestly can’t describe but it didn’t taste or have the texture of chicken. Spicy Peking duck was nice and the Delivery woman was lovely.

One of the best takeaways that I have had in belfast everything is made with passion and pride and it shows with amazing quality and taste 20 out of 10 have and will order again

Delish, salted chicken and stuffed tofu was amazing.

One of my favorite places. It's otw home from queen's, decently priced and huge portions. Tasty and great value! It's one of my go to places!

Salt and chilli tofu was lovely. As was the salt and chilli veggies however I had the mixed veg and there was jelly type lumps in there. Not too sure what that was all about. So put me off a treat.. the chips were just alright. Would recommend though - just not the veggies with strange jelly things? Grim.

We regularly ordered from this Chinese and always rated it - last few orders have been getting worse and worse (and the delivery time/service along with it) last meal was inedible.

This was not recommendable. I couldnt even see what it was and decided not to eat it. The dim sum was pretty ok, the makns unfortunately not.

I would not recommend this take-away. I ordered chili vegetables with boiled rice. I got deep fried vegetables in some dodgy looking batter and got a pain in my stomach just by looking at it. MCDonalds suddenly seemed a healthy option. I had to laugh as it was that bad. I have never seen anything like it. Im sure my dog wouldn’t even touch it. See photo.

Food was good however my order was over £20 and I still didn’t receive crackers? Unfortunately for me that’s a main part for a meal.

Food was good, but delivery took more than 2 hours on a Thursday night.. When tried to contact the restaurant to check if everything is ok with our order, the phone was keep beeping as busy, nobody answered.

Placed an order here...as we’ve done many times before...but tonight we ordered...but it never arrived!!! So 90 minutes later..I phoned to enquire as to where our order was ...to be told they never received our order!!!! Then proceeded to tell us they don’t deliver......never again...not only a let down...but no customer service to deal with the issue...

Authentic and delicious fast service

I eat here regularly but this was the first time ordering for delivery. The food standard was nowhere near what it is like in the restaurant. Unrecognisable pastry with no filling, cold on arrival, and delivered an hour earlier than requested. Disappointing. Oh and the request for chopsticks was ignored.

Ordered sushi takeaway - salmon and tuna smelled off and was inedible. Tempura was just deep fried breaded brocoli. I phoned back to tell them that their fish was off and we couldn’t eat the sushi - the woman just argued with me and then hung up - so disrespectful and rude. I wasn’t looking for a refund but wanted to let them know not to continue serving fish that was foul and potentially dangerous for customers to eat! Will never be back!!

Ordered a takeaway from here tonight. Got the peking chicken and fried rice for my partner and I got the traditional hot chilli, green bean and pork main with some hot and sour soup. They notified me it would take an hour for delivery (though I’m quite close) and when it was about 5 minutes late I rang to chase it up. They said the driver had 4/5 other orders to deliver and had left about 20 minutes prior. He arrived shortly after I rang. The green bean and pork dish was a LAUGH. Couldn’t have been more embarrassed for them. It was mostly green beans with a bit of minced pork thrown in for the craic. At £8.80 I don’t care how “traditional” it is, it was a rip off. The hot and sour soup was only hot, just a thin watery soup without much flavour. Partners chicken was ok but absolutely the same as any other rag tag takeaway. Photos included to show how ridiculous my meal was.
