House of Zen in Belfast

Lovely place to eat, can get a tad expensive for what it is but definitely worth a visit.

Very pleasant place for lunch and good lunch deals e.g. two course meal for £16. Good sized portions and vegetarian options. Quite spicy which suited me; one daughter found it rather too spicy but that's a matter of taste.

Amazing food. Had the set menu and everything was incredible. Beef sizzling special is highly recommended! Service was quick and it was a great atmosphere even on a Monday night. Cocktails were brilliant and very unique

Ordered steamed dim sum and got served pan fried gyozas. Ordered meat stuffed aubergines and got served a whole fried eggplant with Three tiny little pieces of salty meat on top of it with a syrupy sauce. Partner got the beef curry and it was quite good. Anyways avoid at all costs if you’re looking for good Chinese cuisine

Enjoyed a birthday dinner here as part of a large group, food was good as was the service.

Tasty enough. Nice vibe and lighting though dark. Very fast service. The food, Chicken was not moist, the noodles were dry with not much flavour. To be honest based on the food I won't be back. You can get better (and cheaper) takeaway.

My friend introduced me to this fantastic Asian fusion restaurant, and it exceeded my expectations! The avocado maki, tempura basket, and Kyoto Breeze cocktail were amazing, but the standout was the exceptional service. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back!

Up from the south came here first time. All I can say is wow the best curry I've ate in a long time id chicken curry my son had chilli chicken 💯

Popped in for a quick lunch. Was there at 2 and the place closed at 3. Staff couldn't get us out quick enough and also noticed that they added a 10% service charge to the bill. We were literally finishing drinks and the girl was wiping our table dropping hints for us to leave. Food was good. But a £160 bill for a quick lunch was a bit much. Probably won't visit again.

Okay but crowded and noisy and the food was average. Service was good. As it had good reviews I was expecting much better.

Had a quick snack at the House of Zen. Cocktails were amazing and original and the food was wonderful. The House special (ultra smooth beef steak with ginger and herbs) was absolutely gorgeous. The hype and the attitude of the hostess was a bit weird but all and all it was a great experience.

First time in this restaurant. Although it was very busy it seems very personal with the trellis dividers between booths. I was blown away by the speed of the service. Food was delicious.

Tables are so close each other...

The food wasn't great the second time we visited. I told one of the waiters they said nothing they could do. The food was cold, honey pepper chicken wasn't that nice was it was hard and tough tasted off and hardly no sauce. The dumplings weren't fresh. They were chewy and cold when they arrived. The staff is not very friendly. We had a bad meal and won't be back, not worth the money. Need better chefs.

Yet another fantastic experience in one of our favourite restaurants in Belfast. Service & Food was amazing! Nothing was an issue to the staff. Food was quick, warm and tasty. Highly recommend

Unfortunately, they served me chicken soup instead of a vegetarian one and to make things worse, they didn't take it off the bill.

Been a few times over the last load of years and never been let down. Lovely food, great spot.

Good food and cocktails serving staff were lovely only one complaint. My daughter had her newborn in a pram and was confronted by the manager and told she couldn't bring it in. She didn't even try to see if there was a solution until my son intervened we were also a seat short we did book there were 14 of us including children. Her total attitude was completely aggressive she was quite rude. I don't think I will be back

The food is nice, but the charges they set are pretty expensive and for the smallest portions I've ever seen from a Chinese. Better chineses around belfast like the red panda

Beautiful location and l loved the booth we had.The lady who was waiting on us was super nice and helped with the ordering.They have the most amazing cocktails.Of all the places l have gone to..theirs take the cup.The food was ok but if l were to go back it would be for the cocktails.A couple of ladies who work there kept walking past our table eye balling us but we were too engaged in our conversation to care.overall an ok place made better by their drinks.

We went to this place on last weekend, I must admit that I had the worst food ever in entire Ireland and UK, never tasted such awful food. We ordered chicken pecking style as the staff recommended, it was chicken in a sweet sugar syrup with some orange colour in it. The side was egg rice with no egg in it. We ordered dumplings and they smelled weird. I do not want to give even a single star but no option of 0.

Fairly average lukewarm food with matter of fact service. Sadly definitely nowhere near what it once was. Salt and chilli squid starter not particularly warm and quite tough. 1/4 crispy duck was barely warm at all. Mains slightly better albeit beef curry served with a skin on it as it sitting under heat lamps, egg fried rice tasty & piping hot, honey pepper chicken was not bad. Well enough priced as a two course business lunch, however would have happily paid more for freshly cooked to order food. Small thing but the telephone number never works - drives me mad!

We had the lunch deal which was great value for money! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff made sure we were looked after. Only one thing to note is on the lunch menu there aren’t enough vegetarian main options. The salt and chilli meat free chicken was gorgeous but a meat free main would certainly elevate this menu! Overall our experience at House of Zen was amazing.

Went in for the 6 course menu paired with drinks, the service was excellent, and the food was spectacular, can't fault it one bit will definitely be back for another go!

Top notch food. Never had a starter like it in my life, Best ribs about. But a bit pricey for Chinese food IMO. 120 between two people is about 40 too much 🤷

The garden attendant was great and attentive, the girl at the reception didn't make much of an issue, she just said it was full and the guy who was attending showed the covered garden for us to have dinner as the reception hadn't said it was covered and closed due to the fact of being -1 that day, and when we were leaving the boy said the garden is closed and not the one open, so we went in and ate, we were very well looked after by him.

Out for a family meal which was a great experience from start to finish, staff were exemplary, the food was 10/10 and drinks were delicious. Overall experience was amazing and will definitely be back.

Service and ambience was on point! Majority of their dishes tasted great. Thumbs up to the attentive staff! Menu is on the costlier side.

I have to say the food was excellent....however ..the waiter took the order then the food was delivered by someone else who didn't know what he was delivering...he said a chicken dish was duck which he put in front of my mate who had ordered duck who started to eat it only to discover when the duck came out he was eating the wrong meal..brought out a serving of sweet and sour sauce which he presented as chilli sauce....we had two rice dishes that we had to send back one chicken and one prawns as they were luke warm...they came back piping hot but no offer of a coffee or discount or reduction of the service charge at the end. But the food was excellent.

My food arrived cold The staff wasn’t sure what meals they were bringing out once they sorted it out the food was very good The reason for the three stars by the time my food arrives hot my friends had finished their meals.

I do want to say before writing this review that as a restaurant the food is 10/10, excellent “western Chinese food”. BUT table was booked for 7pm for 3 people, table available for 1.30mins, arrived at 6:50 and was asked for booking. They had made the mistake booked for 4 people not three. Once resolved, seated and served very promptly. Approx at 7:45pm kept on being interrupted about ordering more and we politely said we were finishing our drinks. I asked for the bill and paid (10% service charge added to an already overpriced bill plus a £30 charge for the “missing 4th member”, which I contested) and proceeded to sit to finish all the drinks. At 8pm we were then instructed that they “needed the table” and with a table full of drinks I politely said we had not finished and the table is still booked for another 30mins. We then swiftly finished and made our way out. Horrible service for a 25th Birthday event.

A rushed Xmas lunch ( it is Christmas season but needed to peg back )

Pretty mediocre food . Not as nice as zen in Adelaide street Food just not as nice….bit bland No glasses of water offered like Zen ….just a bottle of water at £4.55 which actually cost in at £5 once the obligatory 10% service charge is added in. I prefer to add my tip as and when I wish All in all not great

House of Zen is a quaint Asian cuisine restaurant nestled among other restaurants in St Anne’s Square. The inside of the restaurant is packed tightly together but how it’s laid out is perfect, an excellent use of space. The food is very nice, definitely above average but from what I had, wasn’t blowing me away either. Dim Sum was nice with the chilli soya dip and then typical west Belfast lad gets a beef curry main with salted chilli chips and beef curry. Wonderful cocktail bar with a wide selection of drinks to choose from, tried ‘The Teachers Pet’ which is a dragonfruit gin, nice refreshing taste! All in all, a great night out. Service was very efficient and staff are always on hand to help or serve. Highly recommend a night out here!

We tried zen for the second time last weekend. It was very disappointing compared to the last time we ate. The dishes were a lot smaller compared to the last time we were at it and we sent the curry sauce back twice because it came out cold. However, the food was nice and service was good. Just very disappointed, it has went very down hill from the last time I attended.

Food and service fabulous but it was so noisy that I found it hard to hear my friend sitting next to me.

First time in Belfast and managed to get a booking here for a Saturday night at 9pm. Definitely worth the wait and it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. The service was very attentive with friendly staff and great atmosphere inside.

Took advantage of the great lunch offer for a large group which has a great range of choices. Thee food was wonderful and service was really efficient and friendly. Strongly recommend the pork dumplings.

Food was overrated. Just ok for the price . I would of expected more. Style over substance. Didn't like the tip automatically included in the bill, with the server expecting more as we paid in cash.

I was nearly finished my meal when I noticed a long dark hair in my food when I told the waitress she apologised and discounted my meal but when the bill came I had still been charged full price for the meal when I told her I wasn’t happy paying for the meal as I’d found a hair she said I had eaten the chicken I was quite embarrassed as I obviously wouldn’t have eaten it if I had previously seen the hair she discounted it further but I still feel I shouldn’t have had to pay as it ruined my meal

Went there for the ambience in pictures... sad cause of weather the outside sitting was shut. Food while ordering , we were asking for recommendations and maybe language was not understood and ordered. It's was completely dry and didn't pair well. The other chef acknowledged but really this should have been advised before

I visited a few months in April! Servers were really busy yet were so attentive too. The waitress noticed I was wearing a dress and placed a folded napkin on my lap when serving the food and drink🥹 So lovely! Cocktails were amazing! Credits to the bartender. Great taste and lovely glassware I recommend the Traditional Duck Pancakes to share, Sizzling stuffed Aubergine and the Braised Pork Belly. Definitely order a few dishes to share!

Heard good things about this place regarding the food but it didn't live up to expectation... Service was very slow to start, having seen people that came in after us getting served first.... Food was OK nothing spectacular... Ordered the, what I thought was crispy shredded chicken (peking style) with egg fried noodles... It was more like chicken chunks and it was overdone like the squid... Pure rubber... Crab meat soup I had for a starter... Was alright... I lv crab but barely tasted of it and left a funky taste in ur mouth... Texture was weird aff to lol I had a cocktail (peach seduction) didn't have any complaints about it. was delightful but at tenner a pop they are quite expensive. Prawn crackers where nommmm

Lovely restaurant and the staff are very well mannered and the whole atmosphere is just beautiful. Although prices don’t match food, this place is nice enough but it’s definitely not worth the price, I spent £85 and that was for two people. Would definitely recommend the honey chilli chicken but wouldn’t recommend the egg fried rice as it came very hard and usually fried rice is ment to be nice and soft. I’ll be honest my local Chinese takeaway is far nicer and better! It was a shame as it was for a Father’s Day dinner but I’m glad I tried it and I certainly won’t be back as you can get nicer for cheaper for sure! But I’m glad we gave it ago!

Have been coming to House of Zen for years and it is always on my top list of things to do. Beautiful food, great staff and in a really lovely part of the city.

We went for lunch after having a great first impression with the ambience and decor. But the food is bad. We ordered a Shanghai style hot & sour soup, and house of Zen signature starter. We found a hair in the soup. The waiter was kind to take the soup back and offer a Wanton soup. This time, the Wanton soup tasted bad. We took the traditional prawns curry with rice, which was a disappointment once again. I give 2 stars for the prawn starters & the waiter.

Impeccable service and delicious food. This is my Go-to Chinese in Belfast and it never fails to deliver. Try something a bit different off their menu, you’ll never be disappointed. The star dish for me is the crispy shredded Honey Pepper chicken.

Food is delicious here. The portions are good and the service is great. They play techno tunes though, so be warned . I got the honey chilli chicken and it was lovely. Plenty of choice on the menu with the option to do set course menus.

Fantastic restaurant, very lively atmosphere. All good but what makes this place is the food, by a distance the best chinese food I ever tasted. If you re in Belfast get in there.

Horrendous service, got the main meal wrong twice, after second time couldn't even be bothered to explain to them again how it was wrong. Then they put 10% service charge on the bill, disgraceful. They should be ashamed at how bad this was and not to mention the food was just alright nothing special.

Visited on Monday evening with my staff members for a v belated Christmas party evening out. Absolutely dreadful! Mass produced rubbish. No authenticity here I’m afraid. Service was rude and abrupt. They seemed to just want you in and out as quick as possible. My starter was exactly the same as my main, they were just named differently on the menu. they slapped on a £55 service charge. We declined to pay this because everything was so poor. There was 15 in our party and we all left with the same conclusion- we will never return.

I was booked to go here last Friday at lunch time. We received a very rude welcome from the hostess, so much so that after sitting down, we decided to leave without ordering. Very disappointed as I've enjoyed meals here before.

Appalling service and mass produced food. Anniversary Dinner ruined having to wait 45 mins between starter and main with people arriving after us being served before us. Got up to leave as main arrived but decided to cut our losses. Even charged us for the flat coke which was left at the table and prawn crackers with nothing by way of an apology. Starter was OK but no matter what chicken dish was ordered all was the same chicken with a sauce/ sprinkling over the top. Not very authentic Asian cuisine.

My partner and I had an amazing time, the management were very accommodating, the staff were very nice and the food and cocktails were great.

Was there on Sunday 29-1-23 had a gorgeous meal and it was great value for money and am looking forward to my next visit

House of Zen was ok. We'd booked to go somewhere else but they had kitchen issues. It's rather expensive for portion sizes, especially the mains but the quality is undoubtedly there. I'd say there are many better Chinese style restaurants in the city, but you do get more of a sense of occasion with house of Zen.

Excellent Chinese Restaurant near Cathedral Quater Belfast. Had booked a table of 6 with absolutely no bother at all. Staff were very friendly throughout our visit. But the food was the highlight. Each dish was excellent and of the upmost quality. The serving sizes were just right as well. Any request we had, the staff were more than willing to try and meet our needs. Excellent all round.

We went for a family lunch to celebrate a big birthday. The staff were super helpful, friendly and patient with our excited 2year old. The food was delicious! Can't wait to go back and try more.
