A fantastic lunch with friends in the cafe. The Ham Hough dish with potatoes and savoy cabbage was particularly delicious, the ideal winter warmer. Of course, no visit to the cafe is complete without an Empire Biscuit, definitely the best in Glasgow! Perfect washed down with a generous pot of tea. Service was so friendly, as always, can’t wait to visit again soon.

Always reliable! It’s just a pleasure to go somewhere that if you ask for something a little different, it’s done without any fuss or the can’t do attitude. My wife can only manage a small cappuccino and I like a regular one. No problem! Empire biscuit is one of the best and the pear Danish was warmed up - excellent! Service was great and my wife enjoyed looking around the shop on the way out.

We have visited this cafe a good few times. It is a beautiful cafe, staff are all lovely, but on a recent visit I wasn't that impressed. I ordered the soup I found it thin and watery. My sister's roll was not well presented it was burnt with a hole in it.now this cafe is not cheap and I've never been disappointed until now. I may consider going elsewhere

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. 2 ciabatta with cheese and tomato, still looking for the cheese and the tomato was supposed to be marinated, which did not taste of anything. It was extremely dry. My daughter had the smoked salmon baguel which was dry and lacked filling also. Service was ok, though reasonably cheery staff.

I have visited several times before and enjoyed the service and the food, however we were very disappointed with the service and the food. A charming lady showed us to a table. A rather glum waitress then took our drinks order. We waited over 30 minutes for two salads. The avocados tasted like they had been immersed in a vinegar type dressing. The poached egg had no yolk, a tiny amount of yellow liquid on the plate was all that remained of it. My husbands salad was not much better. A very cheery waitress passed by the table several times, but unfortunately we were served by the glum girl. We didn’t wait for coffee. Such a pity, it used to be so good.

I write this with heavy heart as the cafe has long been our ‘go to’ place for lunch or coffee and scones/cake. Lunch dropped off the agenda some time ago , as I have not been impressed with the rarely changing menu.I did try the Art Lovers salad a few weeks back when a friend was keen to have lunch there but it was really poor.Fairly tasteless dressing and two big, muckle lumps of chicken dumped on top . Not chargrilled in nice sliced pieces but cooked and served as if someone really couldn’t be bothered. There were also two big chunks of avocado..again, poorly presented. I had long thought the scones here were amongst the very best(being a scone aficionado 😋) But on the last two visits for tea and scones, my fruit scone has been as dry as toast. Not sure if they are not freshly made anymore, or frozen or just poorly made. I did complain about this a few days ago and got a replacement which was just as bad.Not the (always very nice and friendly) serving staff’s fault but a poor baker in the kitchen perhaps. They usually serve the scones nice and warm but this was lukewarm , I assume because any more heating would have rendered it inedible. I really hope the cafe can return to its previous quality. It was incredibly quiet when we were in at the weekend so perhaps others are finding similar issues. It’s such a lovely venue too and we always buy the annual Friends card but I can see it getting far less use for the remainder of the year ,sadly.

Overall the experience was satisfactory. The service was good but the prices are just totally out of touch for the postcode. While I appreciate the surroundings are beautiful the actual cafe itself feels just like that - a cafe. I wouldn't say it is particularly special. It is in the middle of Bellahouston Park closeby to some of the most deprived areas of Glasgow. These prices make it cost-prohibitive for a family to enjoy a day at the park and stop for a bite to eat. The menu was limited, and overpriced. The portions were also a little mean. If you take a walk further down the road Bella Vita, Bella Fresca and Rawlings are all better value for money.

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with 40 family and friends in The View which is on the top floor with a terrace looking over Bellahouston Park. It has a lovely warm atmosphere and the lunch was delicious. The staff were very attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The additional sitting room off the main room allowed everyone to mingle after the meal. Niamh O’Donnell, the events coordinator patiently guided us through the build up to the day for which we were very grateful. We would unhesitatingly recommend the House for an Art Lover.

Oh this was excellent. Went before visiting the house on a wet Sunday lunchtime. No problem getting a table for 3. Food and drinks menus were well thought through with options for light lunch or something more substantial. We opted for sourdough open sandwiches. Fresh, nicely presented. Apple crumble tart wasn’t the best but nice idea. Service was super. Friendly, attentive and welcoming. All in all just what we wanted. Hit the spot.

What a great afternoon my friend and I had catching up in the lovely House for an Art Lover’s cafe. We booked the afternoon tea and we weren’t disappointed a lovely traditional fayre with the occasional modern slant on an old favourite, well presented, plentiful and high quality . We opted for tea and coffee at the beginning of service when we were asked our preference however we were there so long we purchased some more at the end, not a big deal as we felt the afternoon tea was fairly priced. The staff were wonderful, cheery, professional and attentive even though the cafe was busy, we stayed a while just enjoying the food, chatter and the atmosphere, no drowning out by loud music 😁 and we never felt rushed. The staff boxed our remaining goodies and the lovely blonde haired manageress wished us well as we headed home, even after her very long and busy day. We will be back, the afternoon tea experience isn’t good for the diet but is wonderful for the soul! Thank you.

Dropped in here for a warming bowl of soup & their lunchtime 2-course menu.Soup (tomato & basil) was nice and partially thawed me after attending a cold frosty October funeral nearby.Eagerly awaited risotto (I love risotto!) which was described as vegan. Total disappointment upon tasting it. Tasted of nothing...just a water-flavoured bowl of orange-coloured rice with a few crumbs of nuts on top & some thin shavings of vegetable crisps to decorate. Being a regular risotto eater/maker, I know that this simple dish requires the staple ingredients of a good stock, wine & parmesan for flavour. I could find/taste no evidence of any of these.Since no waiting staff came near to check if everything was ok, I dutifully ate it all sprinkled with a good dose of salt & pepper for flavour. When the young male waiter cleared the table I told him how disappointed I was - he offered to let the kitchen know, nothing more. When the checkout lady came over with the bill, I again mentioned how tasteless the risotto was.Her response was that she found this 'strange' as 'its always really nice'. She did not offer any apology but offered 10% off our bill (a whole £3!) and said she too would let the kitchen know. Apparently, we could have requested some parmesan to add ourselves (which we were never offered) or could have called the waiter over to request an alternative dish instead of eating it. Fair enough, but most decent restaurants would at least apologise to the customer and most would offer to refund the cost of the dish. On a more positive note, hubby's neck of lamb was absolutely delicious! Which made me very envious...I drew the short straw this time. Won't be back here - might have done, had the response from staff been more customer-friendly. If you eat here, just make sure you call someone over to complain BEFORE you dutifully eat your meal! ☹️

Went there today with a friend for lunch. We had a great table at the end of the conservatory near the door. It was a beautiful day and the food was good. Delighted to see there was a tasty vegan risotto which I really enjoyed. However I was really disappointed and disgusted to see the cakes out on open display at the end of the bar servery area and were on a table which was at public and staff thoroughfare. Apart from the bodies brushing past these cakes, possibility of people sneezing and coughing all over them I also watched several flies jump from the empire biscuits to the brownies to the carrot cake and so on ...... They had a feast but what was worse is that these products were being served to unknowing customers. I highlighted this to a member of staff and the cakes were moved to behind the bar desk area but were still not covered. Please please please implement basic common sense measures to protect your customers ingesting fly vomit and excrement on their fancies. A simple cake box with glass or Perspex lid would do the trick. You can thereby have the cakes on display and protect your clients. I most definitely will not be having cake and coffee at your establishment if this is not remedied. What a shame when everything else was good.

The title says it all I think. The setting is delightful and the staff attentive and courteous. The menu caters for all tastes and the food is simply delicious. I would personally highly recommend the scallop, chorizo and black pudding salad! You could also do what I did - have lunch, take a walk around the grounds and visit the shop, then head back for a cream tea!

We come to House for an Art lover quite often as we live locally. Today we had tomato and basil soup. It was very very watery and tasteless. Told the waiter and he took it back, then charged us for it when we got the bill. Also one of us had chips and they were burnt badly. This has put us off returning to House for an Art lover.

Only open for lunch (unless a special event) and only £15.95 for wonderful 3 course lunch. The house sometimes closes early so phone ahead if you want to view the house as well.

I have been several times to this restaurant and the food has been superb every time. Never been disappointed. The shop has beautiful gifts in the Rennie MacIntosh theme. This is also very close to the dry ski slope. All in all a great day out.

A very surprise find in a picturesque location with lots of history. I came here with a friend while on a short business trip to Glasgow. It's a little hidden gem. The cafe is very well run with fresh food and great tea and coffee....

An intro like that deserves a bit of explanation. I was visiting Bellahouston Park and thought I’d visit the Art Lovers Cafe for a coffee and a snack. However I was taken by the excellent 2-course lunch menu and decided to go for that instead. It was a wise choice. The deep-fried gnocchi with creme fraiche starter was light and crisp and the seafood tagliatelle main was delicious and plentiful - no shortage of mussels or prawns in this serving. The restaurant itself was bright, welcoming and comfortable, while the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. All-in-all a very pleasant experience and a most enjoyable meal.

La casa para un amante del arte diseñado por Charles Rennie Mackintosh en 1901 fue finalmente construido en 2001. Es un ejemplo espectacular de la arquitectura art nouveau escocés, diseño interior y mobiliario.

Staying in Glasgow for a few days and had been been recommended this place, booked several weeks ago for a 10am slot. Hadn’t eaten breakfast and arrived on time to find our reservation had been moved to 10.45am?? Fortunately we went to Scran instead. This place seems to be under owner transition and clearly can afford to lose customers.

We had the Christmas Dine at Home by BM. It was absolutely fantastic and loads of great well cooked and fresh ingredients. The instructions were perfect and the Beef Wellington was superb. During this pandemic our Christmas Dinner helped us forget it for a few hours. Once again very highly recommended.
