Nice chippy, very pleasant staff

Terrible food. I had to throw most of it away. 1. Chips were undercooked and many had black pieces. Everyone knows that if you leave black pieces on potato then it completly changes the taste and does not taste good. 2. The Scampi was fried so long that the pieces were as hard as rocks. 3. No sauces apart from Ketchup available. Meal tasted awful. Never going there again.

Ordered fish and chips and found 4 bones in the fish before I stopped eating it and the chips undercooked. Would definitely not recommend.

Worst chip shop experience… the business is failing clearly. They don’t even use greaseproof paper to wrap the food, everything just sticks to normal paper. Two youngsters serving doing what they can, but no proper headgear, tacky clothes, do they even wash there hands after they touch all the takeaway delivery dirty bags! They stopped curry’s, no food menu, they don’t even serve pies! They need to up their game and stop charging premium prices, for rubbish quality food!

Ordered kebab stone cold was in a wrap with a little bit of meat what a joke . NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!

Our whole order was stone cold. We waited an hour and a half. My partner ordered a chicken tikka kebab and it was literally the tiniest pieces of chicken in a wrap. Tastes of nothing! The battered sausages were dreadful and just fell apart. Had such high expectations and literally was the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had in the whole of Leicester.

This place was 5 stars for me, place has gone down hill, nothing in stock! Seems the passion has dwindled

Awful. Used to be good. Chicken tikka wrap was a stale wrap with a few dry chicken pieces, no salad or sauces. Luke warm. Worst takeaway I’ve ever had.

Sausages weren’t even battered properly, looks like they’ve been left overnight, heated up in the microwave and given out to us. Chips were that uncooked it looked like they’d just been pulled out of the ground. My mums fish cake was as flat as a pancake.

Call yourself a chippy? Chips uncooked and felt reheated Large fish turns out to be a small wider fish barely enough for one Chicken tikka with fresh naan ordered over the phone. I Get there and he said they stopped doing naan weeks ago yet he still took the order and charged for it replacing with a dry tortilla wrap Chunks of Chicken was cold and tasteless. Woudnt be surprised if it was reheated. Called to complain and they just don't care Response was "it's how we make it. Can't do anything about it" Poor customer service with shocking communication skills. Agree with the other reviews that this place is awful and overly priced for below par food Do not recommend at all. Undercooked food is not acceptable for the prices you charge

I like good chips and I've tried load's in Leicester and not found one with decent chips so much so that I haven't bought chips for a very long time but been in haughton recently and gave haughton chippy a try and guess what, they were amazing it's a shame because they're about half an hour's drive from me, why can't they all be as good as haughton chippy, well done lads.

I ordered to deliver a mixed kebab and chips along with everyone else’s food and as always I seem to be the victim of bad service! I received chips that are a 5 out of 10 at best and no mixed kebab just half a dozen bits of chicken with salad!! I’ve never had a problem when ordering at the counter and paying direct but have always had a problem when I order to deliver ile let you make your own mind up but next time I will go there myself instead of delivery😐 That’s if I go back.

This shop is very good the staff are very friendly then but sometimes on delivery it is late but sometimes most of the time it is on time worth the wait

Excellent smiling service and very good food. The haddock usually freshly cooked or you can order it ready.

Houghton chippy has average food, they always seem to over charge by at least 20%, when questioned they state you ordered etc etc, it’s not worth arguing over, but it really spoils the meal.

Not bad but way to many chips. Had small fish a bit hard. My partner ordered battered sausage but got 2 ordinary sausages. Too late to go back.

Always wanting to support local but this is the worst chip shop I've been to. Service is extremely slow 15-20 mins for a standard order. Had fish,chips and curry sauce which was no thicker than water. Not only this but the sauce was poured over my take away meal. I've always been provided it in a seperate pot. Chips were soggy, my partners donner meat was cold. Overall very poor and would rather travel than use again.

We are regular customers, was told last week about the price increase, I accept that as we all know the cost of things is sky high, but why were the portions then cut down so much. So our normal meal cost us £11 more than usual a total cost of £53 yet the side dishes were half the size and the main had lost at least a 1/3

Food has gone terrible.the house special kebab that i once left a review for.went again it was dripping in ghee.as was it next time aswell.went for fish chips and curry sauce last night.was absolutely appalling.the chips was stale and grey.curry sauce tasteless like water.you cant serve rubbish up to customers like that.cheesus have some pride in what your serving.thats me done i wont be spending my money there again😡

Haven't stopped here for a long while and will not be stopping here again. Cold chips and more "eyes" or "potato blight than I have ever seen in a bag of chips. Awful.

Excellent bunch, cheerful, helpful and willing to satisfy specific needs. Ordered a cury, chips. It was fresh and tasty and reasonable price. The chips were not soaggy or oily. Would order again. well done.

Very busy. Lots of people pre ordering. Lots of staff. But not enough to cope when I went. Hence the notice on the window for staff vacancy. Chips not as good as Atlantis. 2 miles down the same road. They also do Indian take ways, which I have not tried but told they are very good. I think that is probably their specialist area. So, consider changing the name.

Had large chips, large doner meat and battered sausage. Very quick service. Travelled approx 5 minutes home, got plates etc ready and all of the food was still hot. Doner meat was really nice and tasty.

Extremely hidden away and away from hustle city crowd, tasty fish n chips and prawn and chicken curries. And HALAL. And RECOMMENDED by close relative. Definately to revisit again and again.

the best curry ever grate price

We love curry and have tried alot of different places. The curry here is fantastic! Delivery can be about double the time they estimate or you would expect but I think that's because we tend to order peak times, ie Friday/ Sat evening

Brought a chicken tikka kebab for £5.50 smallest amount of chicken and huge amount of salad in a tiny naan the whole thing was cold time the it got home and was big enough for 10year old. Looking at the reviews others had same issues with small amount of chicken waiting stupid que times. Waste of time going here, stick to other local chippy or even the van because this owner is deluded.

Charged £11 for two kebabs, didn't put any sauce or salad requested on, tiny amounts of dry chicken - a complete joke. Plus had to wait over twenty minutes after the set time for it to be ready. Called to complain and they wouldn't deliver a replacement. Won't bother going there again!

My son was ill after eating the mixed kebab. He woke the next day with sever stomach cramps, sickness & diarreah. Im not happy, must be down to poor hygiene and handling of foods.

First time eating the food from this chip shop, ordered via Just Eat due to the current situation of Lockdown. Although this chip shop is around 3.5 miles from us when the food arrived it was lovely and hot and very tasty. Would definitely recommend to others. Thank you

Visited various times over the years under various owners. Mediocre chips. Not worth the 16 mile round trip for us, don't even stop if passing. There's fair better chip shops about.

I rang at 18.05 for a meal, they told me it would take about an hour. At 19.20 I rang again they said it was just leaving. Still not here and its 19.55. I'M EATING THE KITCHEN CUBARDS. At 20.00 its arrived. The food was ok but nearly 2hrs wait, i dont think so. Make your own mind up 😉

OMG had the best chicken dhasang and saag aloo. Loved it!!!

We waited for a long time for the food to arrive, over fifteen minutes!!! When it came and we got it home we found half was burnt and over cooked and the other really was not nice at all. None of the 3 of us finished the meal. Over priced and awful. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else

First and LAST time !!! If you want a plate of inedible, unappealing tat, then carry on ordering... outrageous !!!! If you want fish and chips this is NOT the place.

Good chippy with Indian takeaway food available. Parking of inconsiderate customers makes access difficult sometimes, to the point of driving on and not stopping.

Initial issue with chips being cold and tasted like they had been left for some time. Took them back and they made us fresher takeaway.

Top level service. We ordered two of the special kebabs one without hot sauce as my wife can't eat spice. Unfortunately they both had hot sauce and it was inedible for her, I called to let them know and they sent her a new kebab within 20 minutes. Not only is the service amazing but the food is also fantastic. Thanks so much to the staff we will definitely be ordering again.

Just ordered “food” for delivery... waited 2 hours for an uncooked burger, soppy reheated chips and even found some sort of stone in my chips... this place needs to be shut down! Don’t know how EHO ever passed this place!

Very disappointed with the quality of the fish and chips. The food was tasteless and the batter slimey on the fish. The chips were soggy and tasteless also. Very disappointed as £20 for 3 people is very expensive. I won’t be a customer again.

We went for one portion of chips. After waiting 10 minutes we were served. Got home to find we had been served reheated from earlier cooking. Won't be going again.

Had food from here tonight and it wasn't the best chip were cook to much and the kids meals they had the nugget were really crispy that the kids couldnt eat them the only good thing was the donner wrap my son had and the sasauge my daughter had

This is by far the worst chipshop I have visited. I'll start with the fact that my first pie were cool enough to believe it had been sat out on the counter for a good few hours, second pie i practically had to shuvel through the contents it was rock solid. Mushy peas seemed to be half full of peas half full of water the same can be said for the curry sauce. The portion of the large chips covered just one grown adult and a 5 year old. On the positive side the chips were actually nicely cooked, could have been warmer but they were the only reason u could Justify this one star else id have opted for zero stars. Would not recomend enless your totally steaming from a good night out and fancy a reason to have lumps in your sick.

Firstly I would like to say the customer service was brilliant, all happy faces especially the lad serving fish and chips had great banter with him, the food was brilliant the fish was not greasy at all and the 2 curries We ordered was to die for, the chef who I believe is call Ozzy has great skills and knowledge on Indian food he’s recommendations were spot on.
