Hou Mei in Birmingham

Food was decent, as was the service. Everything you’d want really in a BYOB Indian restaurant. They also very kindly gave me an umbrella when we were leaving as it was torrential rain outside. Would definitely return!

Went to this restaurant based on the reviews and the fact it had won the 2023 English curry awards. Wow how disappointing our visit was. To start with our waiter was both unhelpful and unfriendly. The starters were ok, however the mains were really disappointing. Apart from the curry’s being unusually sweet There was no real flavour or taste to them. We did mention this to our waiter, and he did take the curry’s away and brought them back a few minutes later telling us that they’d added some chillies to make it spicier. However apart from being chilly hot the curry was still tasteless and he completely missed our point. Also didn’t help that we had a group of people sat on the table near us, who swore and shouted through our entire meal and no one said anything Defo won’t be be going back nor recommending this place. Should be ashamed of calling themselves a curry house.

The food was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Have tried many breakfast places but this has been the best so far. Highly recommend!!!!!
