This place gets 5 stars all round from me. It was my first time in Birmingham for a business trip, so I was eating alone. I came across Barajee and had to try my favourite chiken Balti dish. I wasn't disappointed. The garlic nan was also amazing. I asked for a garlic rice that wasn't on the menu and they were more then happy to make it for me. My waiter, Ray gave great service and I will defo be back the next time I visit Birmingham. In fact I will recommend this place to everyone I know.

Disappointing Experience We walked into Barajee as casual diners, and as soon as we mentioned we didn’t have a booking, the staff’s tone became noticeably cold and dismissive. No one asked about allergies or dietary preferences, and when we requested food recommendations, we were met with a blunt “no.” Interestingly, once I started taking notes for this review, the tone of service shifted — suddenly more polite and attentive, which came off as performative. Food: • Condiments were overly sweet. • Chicken Pakora lacked seasoning. The chicken was cooked fine, but the flavor was bland and the plating unimpressive. • Lamb Tikka was cold, chewy, and tasted microwaved. Not tender and poorly presented. • Chicken Madrasa was hot and the chicken was well-cooked — probably the best part of the meal. • Garlic Naan was sweet, not crunchy, and lacked butter. At the end of the meal, we were given cheap-tasting chocolates and hot towels. The beer was standard. When the server asked how the food was, I gave honest feedback. He responded by saying that the food is “only targeted to few people,” which was an unprofessional and unnecessary remark — and honestly left a bad taste. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent, awkward, and disappointing. Not somewhere I’d return.

Located on Birmingham’s bustling Broad Street, Barajee Indian Restaurant offers a blend of classical Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine in a charming, canal-side setting. We chose Barajee because of it's location. It is found on Broad Street, just a 6 minutes walk from the Utilitia Arena. A lovely scenic walk from the car park to the restaurant. We hadn't booked but were provided with a table promptly on arrival. The variety of food was good and the atmosphere reminded me of what I would call your 'proper old curry house'. The environment was clean and welcoming, overlooking the canal. Service was prompt and efficent, food was plentiful, of excellent quality and great value for money. Waiting staff were attentive, ensuring we had drinks when we needed and even walking us round to find the bathrooms. Would highy recommend, we shall look forward to eating here again!!

We didn’t raised the any issue. After all our half dinner done we want to eat more items with bunch of people who are more starving the manager said we couldn’t take it up your order and it was sure the time was 11:36. Said rudly we closed . After when we spoke the manager who has no manners to talk with customer he was very rude and disrespectful guy. Without a doubt the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. What can I say about this place. Firstly they didn't have basic items that were on the menu. We ordered fish Masala starters they said there's no fish but the waiter was very rude and abrupt. One of our party ordered papadoms. They charged £3 for 2 sorry excuse of a papadom but the apparent mint sauce was a bright nuclear yellow colour the mango chutney was just vinegar and the pickle was drenched in oil. The mix starter was the worst most rubbery sorry excuse for a tiny piece of chicken and lamb and a seekh kebab which was clearly cut in half and defrosted. My main course was lamb balti which was literally just 4 pieces of boiled lamb in the blandest sauce. Avoid at all costs.

My husband and I came to Birmingham to see a show. We were going to get a burrito down the street but they were closed so we thought we would have a look at their menu. As we were looking a couple came out and told us we had to go in, said we would not regret it (the husband said that he was neither here nor there with indian but that he loved it). We thought give it a try. My husband loves indian so I thought I would make him happy and give it a try. I'm so glad I did. It was amazing, the best I have ever had. We tried one of their executive banquets. I had no idea what the dishes were but I thought give it a try and boy am I glad I did. The flavours were out of this world. The staff were very accommodating. My husband has a funny thing about lamb (he had some as pets) and they were happy to change it to chicken. The staff on tonight 28/04/24 were amazing. The wait time was nothing. They were so friendly. We will be back in Birmingham in a few weeks time and for sure be back. If you love indian or even if you don't you have to go to this place. We were in the area for the night and decided we would like an Indian before watching Peter Kay at the arena, we found this place online and also it was recommended by the pub opposite we were drinking in, we couldn’t book so we walked in and was given a table straight away with a lovely view. Food was amazing and best curries me and my husband had had in a long time, full of flavour and the starters and poppadoms all went down a treat. One tiny issue was that we were charged for the dips that come with the poppadoms and this wasn’t advised till the bill. We were also over charged for something extra, but this was easily removed with no hassle. The service was ok and plenty of the guys on hand to ask for help or something more. The restaurant looks a bit tired and could do with a re paint etc especially the toilets. £78 for 2 courses and extras plus a drink each which we were happy with as the food was excellent, we enjoyed our time here and would re visit if in the area again.

Don't know what happened tonight.. Had poppadoms as starters, can't believe they charged separate for dips( most restaurants give you them). Would have kept them on the table aswell to have with main course, but they just whipped them away. Waited 45 mins after poppadoms for them to bring out main course. When it finally arrived was only luke warm. Didnt like to moan or make a fuss as we were all starving we didn't complain. Wish we had, food as I said was luke warm and very Bland. We had 3 very different meals, yet on tasting each others, all tasted similar. What a Joke. Can't believe all the good reviews, what food do you others Usually eat. Now the nasty part, spent most of the night on n off the Loo. Called my friends this morning, they had same problem, except one off them, who wasn't as bad but he only ate about half. Think I've been more than fair with the stars I've left them.

The Jalfrezi and bhajis were very good, the bread was great but could have done with some ghee or melted butter with the garlic which was diced on top. Authentic Flavours, Warm Hospitality – A True Malaysian Gem I recently visited Malaysian Delight, and I can confidently say it was one of the most satisfying dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Whether you’re already a fan of Malaysian cuisine or completely new to it, this place is an absolute must-try. The combination of authentic flavors, generous portions, and warm, welcoming service makes it stand out in the best possible way. Food Quality: Every dish we ordered was a celebration of bold, rich flavors. The Nasi Lemak was beautifully presented — fragrant coconut rice, tender sambal chicken, crispy anchovies, and perfectly boiled egg all served with that signature spicy sambal that had just the right kick. The Char Kway Teow was smoky, savory, and loaded with prawns and Chinese sausage, just like it should be. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in getting traditional recipes just right. Authenticity: As someone who’s tasted Malaysian food both in Malaysia and abroad, I was genuinely impressed by how true-to-home the dishes tasted. The ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques all reflect genuine Malaysian street food and home-style cooking. Nothing felt watered down or westernized — this is the real deal. Service: The staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the dishes for those unfamiliar with the cuisine and made thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. Service was quick but never rushed, and there was a real sense of pride and hospitality in the way they engaged with customers. Atmosphere: The ambiance was cozy and clean, with simple but thoughtful decor that highlighted Malaysian culture. It’s a casual place, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family, and it felt very welcoming. Value for Money: The prices are more than reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. You get hearty, flavorful meals that leave you full and satisfied. It’s clear they focus on quality ingredients and generous servings — no corners cut here. Highlights: Roti Canai was flaky and soft, served with a rich curry dip. Teh Tarik (Malaysian pulled tea) was creamy and comforting, just like I remember from street stalls in Kuala Lumpur. Vegan and vegetarian options were also available and well thought out. Overall: Malaysian Delight lives up to its name — a true delight in every way. It’s rare to find a place that so successfully captures the spirit and taste of Malaysia. Whether you’re dining in or taking away, the experience is consistently excellent. I’ll absolutely be returning — next time with an even bigger appetite. Highly, highly recommended!
