Hot & Spicy in Nottingham

What lets this establishment down is the sporadic opening times - one time is stated on the door yet they are not open. When they do open, the food on offer is limited. Service can be slow and sometimes not in the order of people arriving. The food overall is good, and we do keep going for this reason.

Good oldskool Caribbean food takeaway. The Food tastes delicious and the service is ten out of ten. The portions are very good.You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended

Beautiful traditional jamaican food

Great food for Nottingham, as good as you’re going to get here. Only thing is cakes tend to not be fresh so I wouldn’t get one here again. This take out has some of the worst, most shocking customer service you’ll encounter (not even your usual Jamaican service) this goes above and beyond. God help you if you ask any questions about the menu, and be warned a regular meal could be £12 one week and £20 the next.. the menu board is purely decoration prices mean nothing. If you question this on your head be it, get ready to be told about yourself. All part of the experience. My advice, order and say nothing more. I am a regular here and find myself biting my tongue every time, but what is the point. I get my food and leave, no one wants to argue with insanity which is how these women often portray.

Updated review: The fasty female senior in this business is extremely argumentative about the smallest things. Her comments bordered on racist just because i asked if i could have less rice and some steamed veg to replace it. Why does she have to call me a white dude and accuse me of begging for free food to embarrass me in front of other customers? I am not responsible for her high VAT bill. I calmly explained i wasnt asking for free food then ironically they offered me free cutlery, which i didn't need. The food is generally great but that rude woman shouldn't be customer facing she's got too many problems. Another thing I don't like is prices are constantly changing, the menu has several prices crossed out with black tape presumably due to price rises. Large curry mutton with rice and peas was £8 a couple of years ago and now has nearly doubled to £15. I would give 4 stars but the customer service is completely unacceptable. It puts me off going back and it is a shame as this is my best local takeaway in terms of just the food.

Delicious authentic Caribbean food...

After coming here back in 2018, I made sure to come again while I am staying in Nottingham for work. Delicious food, the lady behind the counter was very accommodating and the portions were great value for money. Not in the city centre or on deliveroo but definitely worth the visit.

The customer service is disgusting and easily the worst i have ever experienced in my entire life. I am normally a easy going person who often just let bad manners go over my head and ignore it for a peacefull life. But the head cook behaviour is off the chain. I stopped going there and a lady friend of mines who had been before and wanted me to drop her there . I warned her but it was her choice so I waited for her in my car. She had only been gone 2 mins when I saw her coming back to the car. She got in and said ‘ you were right as soon as I went in the fat light skinned jamaican cook shouted “come in and shut the Bombo claaat door” My friend was in shock and very shaken by this and walked back out. This is abuse . Terrible

First of all, managed to get a portion of oxtail with rice and peas after 7pm on a weekend which is impressive by itself. I was expecting the classic "we nah hav dat" response popping into the shop at that time. The food is presented well and they cook as they go along ensuring that the food is always fresh and top sellers do not run out. This has to be one of the best takeaways I have visited and the business is run very well. Food was tasty and will definitely be returning to sample more from their menu.

The first visit was OK. The food was really good. Service was OK. Went back today for lunch. The website says open at 1 pm, on the door of the venue says 11am. At 1.10pm, a young lady comes out, and I ask if they aren't opening yet. She was like, "we open at 3!!! I said your website says 1pm, door says 11...she was like, well it's wrong then!!! So that will be my last visit!!!

Although the restaurant was going through a refurbish staff were accommodating enough to offer us a seat in the corner so that we didn't have to eat in our vehicle. Food 10/10... Selection 10/10 Taste 10/10 Value for money... Same again. Best by far.

Last week I went to this amazing authentic restaurant hot n spicy and the lady who works there was so nice and very quick service when I took a bite into that fried chicken so much juice it was so juicy so if your looking for a authentic jamacian restaurant go her 😋😀

Been here a few times and recently quality of food has gone down hill and the prices are overly extortionate customer service slow as usual bought a large mutton n rice 2 dumplings £15! £1 per dumpling the size of a tangerine cant support them anymore i rang while outside the shop saves time waiting in the shop no 1 answers smh

I'm not local, so have to read reviews when visiting different areas in order to make a informed decision over where to eat. On inspection, this place had mixed reviews that didn't make it seem like a viable option, but it was open whilst others weren't, so I made a purchase. On tasting, this place is amazing as the food (large mutton, rice peas and steam veg) was on point for the standard that most establishments can't meet. They took card payments, and that's a rare thing with alot of Caribbean takeaways to this day, and as for service....the sister who took my order was totally in control of work. Manners shown, respect given! I wasn't after a therapy session, and if I was.....I would go to a therapist! I went here for food and will return here for good food!!

A real lack of Integrity. I am very very disappointed with the service and low quality food served at Hot and Spice, on 26/11/2022. The customer service is disgusting. I waited 25 minutes to be served. No where for paying customers to sit down. One person serving and taking payment. The process is much too slow. The large Mutton and rice/peas, coleslaw and a drink £20.00 (OVER PRICED MICROWAVED FOOD). The food i ordered was terrible. NO AUTHENTIC FLAVOUR AND VERY VERY DRY. I could count the peas in the rice. I was so angry. This is not the first time either. If you phone Hot and Spicy for delivery, they never seem to answer the phone. Or the payment machine is not working. This is not how you run a business. I will not be supporting Hot and Spicy again. There stink attitudes receives a 0 star rating, based on 4 visits i have made to Hot and Spicy this year 2022.

Had the curried mutton but was very mild, didn't taste any curry. What really disappointed was the terrible customer service from the server. Was made to feel they were doing me a favour in preparing the food for the amount I was paying! Won't use them again!!!!

From entering the building the atmosphere was electrifying. The banter with the customers and staff was an experience that full your belly with joke before we even ate. The lady who served us knew how to entertain. We were served quickly and efficiently. Great set up. The calaloo rice was off the scale with flavour as was the brown stew and jerk chicken. The portions were very generous. As we had travelled 40mins to get there we ate in the car and sat and pondered as to how much room we had in the fridge to buy more to carry home. The Guinness punch was delicious. All in all good value. We will definetly be back.......authentic food.

Went in to order food I was told it was nice food I waited 20 minutes still no one asked what I wanted to be served. AS I was waiting everyone that ordered in front of me was getting there food warmed up in the microwave I am not into undress reheared food I could do that at home so I walked out I did me a favour

Absolutly disgusted with their customer service, we brought 2 lrg rice an curry mutton an 2 sm rice an curry mutton looked beautiful but unfortunately found a long black hair in one of the large and small box of food mistakes can be made so my partner took back and explained, phoned me up as the woman was mouthing off at him! I could not believe the way she was speaking in front of other customers aswell how God dam rude! Her mouth was proper running after 5 mins of her mouthing off we got our money bk...... definitely will never go there again not because of the hair in food but the dam disrespect from your staff! I have NEVER heard anything like it before, we traveled all the way from Bramcote! I'm beyond angry hearing some nxt woman talk to my fella like that in front of other customers aswell she's BAD FOR BUISNESS!

A truly unique level of bad customer service, the likes of which I thought were the reserve of satirical comedy. The woman who I can only assume is the owner, dealt with me and people in front of me in the queue as if we were loitering in her own front room. Raising her voice and dismissing peoples requests. This woman is just a plain rude btich who should be relegated to her kitchen so as not to subject paying customers to her acid tongue. The food? Fairly decent but the sheer disbelief of her attitude blew my mind to the point that my objectivity on the subject of her food is irrelevant. Long story short, if youre fine with astonishing disrespect and distain. This place is probably great.

The food is GREAT!!! The portions are quite generous and the range of drinks are both eye-catching and delicious. The fully certified Chef led restaurant has quite an offering and I was delighted to learn that EVERYTHING is done fresh on the day. The wait outside the shop, due to their strict keeping of the COVID-19 guidelines, were my ONLY source of 'restlessness'. My wife and I live some distance away, but think that it's "DEFINITELY worth the trip!!" Thanks again to the H&S team. 'Prof. B'

Love the food here. Wherever I am, I will travel to Hot n Spicy when I am hungry, I know that I will enjoy my meal. The food is consistently good, I always recommended this restaurant to family and friends. Their punches are so refreshing as well.

Foods pretty good, I go here with my partner regularly. But it would not be the first time we have been stood for 45mins in a queue before even getting served. Its beyond ridiculous how long it takes when there could be only 2-3 people in front of you. On another note - the peanut porridge is IMENSE.

I like their food as it is mostly fresh good. However, you have to wait a very long time to be served and the two women attitude stinks I use yo buy from them a lot but because of the attitude plus long waiting time, I no longer like going there. They need a course in hospitality. Why should I go and spend money for stinking attitude.
