Fabulous food, great atmosphere & lovely staff! Seems like Bishop's Stortford's best kept secret for a Sunday roast! Will definitely be back!

I came for dinner with my parents and we was so impressed with the food. The menu is causal but yet high quality. It was lovely to get a load of dishes to all share. I don't know any places in Bishops Stortford that offer a menu like this. The food really was excellent. The atmosphere had a good buzz about the place and the staff were lovely and helpful. After dinner we went upstairs for a drink in their bar on top of the terrace. Excellent vibe and they hire it out for private events. The whole experience was so good that I decided to hire their bar upstairs for my 40th birthday. After this I know we'll receive great food and service. Thank you Host!

Lovely restaurant very accommodating for big groups and birthdays. had the tapas feasting menu and it was decent. Deffo recommend.

We booked our wedding reception at Host on their outdoor terrace on August 31st and it was AMAZING! Amelie the supervisor worked her socks off all day, (and night!) as did the rest of the waiting staff. The tapas was fantastic and service excellent, they couldn’t have been more attentive. We even returned in the evening for a last minute sit down meal for 10 in the main restaurant where again, service and food was impeccable. Fabulous time had by all, thank you so much for making our day so memorable.

We had the most wonderful wedding reception hosted at Host! The whole team went the extra mile showing an extremely high level of attention and professionalism. The food was exquisite, especially the next level hot dogs and prawns. So many of our guests commented positively on it all and also our evening options of pizza and fish and chip cones. We enjoyed the mix of Terrace and later the indoor venue upstairs and all staff ensured our guests were well cared for. The attentiveness of Lyndsay and the team was incredible and we highly recommend them. The DJ really understood our vibe and was great and we were grateful to even have security to make sure we were all safe. For us, the venue was perfect as we wanted to be in town and didn’t want something too formal. Don’t hesitate if you are looking for a fab Stortford venue for your special occasion!

Had a family meal in The Grill, food and service was great.

What a horrible experience!! Food was off, old smelly and disgusting. Fries were soggy. Drinks took forever to get to us. Rude staff, no smiles, no thank yous. Pure rudeness. Waitress asked us to down our drinks as they were closing, stood by our table pressuring us, although the drinks took forever to get to us. People sick in the toilet, probably from the bad food. Not going back nor recommending it!

I cannot complain at all about food. It was brilliant. But when it came to service it was disgusting. There were so many staff standing around doing nothing. While we were trying to get their attention they would walk off and turn their backs on us and purposely ignore. We asked for a desert menu and 20 mins later they came back empty handed and asked if we wanted a desert menu.

I came here twice recently. Once to have tapas and drinks upstairs in the outdoor area, and once to have a family roast dinner downstairs in the restaurant. The outdoor area had a great vibe, music, nice and lively. Staff were nice. The tapas was delicious and had lots of gluten free options! We ordered Prosciutto, Manchego, Garlic Prawns, Cauliflower & Patatas Bravas. For the Sunday roast we had 2 roast beef, 1 adult and 2 kids roast chicken and 1 medley which was beef, chicken and pork belly. All of the roasts came with a Yorkshire pudding, a pig in blanket (sausage wrapped in bacon), roast potatoes, veg and gravy 🤤 For dessert we had 2 kids ice-cream, a chocolate fondant and 3 sticky toffee pudding 🤤 It was great service and a delicious meal.

Visited host for Mother’s Day as a large group and more recently a smaller group for drinks and tapas on the terrace. Has to be one of my favourite restaurants in Bishop’s Stortford. The food is great quality and always delicious and cocktails great with a good selection. Service is always attentive and any special requests are always catered for. The terrace has a lovely atmosphere, feels like being on holiday sipping cocktails and eating tapas in the sunshine. Staff are always polite and courteous and if there any issues they are addressed and rectified in a professional manner. Highly recommend a visit if you haven’t been.

We visited host for lunch. Sadly the food was absolutely awful, my husband ordered avocado on toast - this was tiny and looked terrible. My father had chicken Caesar salad - except there was no chicken, only lettuce, croutons and dressing. It was hardly a substantial salad ( it is advertised as a main). I had tapas - portion sizes better but terrible food. Would never go back.

I revisited host terrace a week after my initial visit, and I have to say, they truly improved themselves this time! Despite having more people, the service was noticeably better and more efficient. The staff handled the larger crowd with ease, ensuring everyone was well taken care of. The food was very nice, with the tapas on the menu that were simply delightful. Each dish was well put together with good flavor. And once again, the DJs created an incredible atmosphere. Their music selection and energy made the afternood nostalgicaly fun. If anything, they were even better than before, keeping the vibe lively and fun throughout the evening. Overall, host has shown that they can handle a busy afternoon without compromising on quality. This summer season looks promising. I highly recommend checking them out!

I am writing to express my disappointment with the level of service I received during my recent visit to your establishment. Despite my anticipation for a memorable experience, I encountered several issues that significantly detracted from my enjoyment. From prolonged wait times for orders to inattentive staff, the overall quality of service fell far below expectations.However, amidst this disappointing service, there was a shining beacon of excellence that I cannot overlook. The DJ (Kevin and Brad)set I had the pleasure of experiencing was nothing short of extraordinary. The seamless transitions, eclectic track selection, and infectious energy created an atmosphere that captivated the entire crowd. It was undoubtedly the best DJ performance I have had the pleasure of witnessing this year.While I hope that improvements can be made to enhance the overall customer experience, I felt compelled to commend the exceptional talent and professionalism of the DJ. Their skillful performance truly elevated the ambiance of your establishment despite the service shortcomings.

The roast dinner was so so nice , my missus won’t like me saying this but it was the best roast I’ve had .. I’d recommend the sticky toffee pudding as well . Service was spot on as well 👍

Absolutely great afternoon at Host in the bubble upstairs. Special shout out to our waitress Lisa, she really went over and above for us. Food was amazing!! followed by some cool cocktails that were flowing. Really felt a special treat for my birthday celebrations.

We went for the gold set menu and it was excellent, all cooked really well and the service was amazing! Excellent value for the quality of the food and service.

Vegetarians beware! Disgrace to serve 1.5 pieces of mushrooms as a main part of a Sunday roast, what the actual duck. Absolute disgrace. And the cauliflower cheese ordered on the side very undercooked. Although red cabbage was good. But very very very disappointed. In addition to that, it said brunch items available till 3pm on the menu but when we tried to order from there, they said it stops at 12. False advertising.. So stuck with 1.5 pieces of mushrooms we were. And that's all the veggie option you pretty much get. Hurrah..

We chose Host for our office Christmas party and it was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was festive, which created the perfect backdrop for our celebration. The service was exceptional, both attentive and friendly, literally nothing was too much effort, even though we were a large crowd. Let's not forget the food however, which was exceptional, well cooked, piping hot and so well presented. From The Residence Coworking, and all our members, massive THANKS for a fabulous evening, we can't wait to return ❤️

Had a fantastic works Christmas meal. The staff made us feel really welcome and were attentive throughout the evening. The food was outstanding, so massive compliments to the chef and team. Would 100% recommend.

We thought the Sunday roast was excellent the meat was really cooked well and the four of us all enjoyed our food. Those who had desserts were impressed with them too. However the drinks we ordered pre dinner were not of the quality I expected. My wife’s gin and tonic was served in a tumbler no ice; no lemon and filled to the top with tonic. It was tasteless. We expected the tonic to be served so we can add it to our preferred taste. And to look appetising sadly it didn’t look good nor tasted good very disappointing. Also the Bloody Mary served to us was of an equally poor standard. The tumbler filled to the brim with watery tomato juice no flavour other than watery. Needs to be improved ASAP. The poor standard of the drinks would not stop us visiting Host again as the food served to us was really good. And we would now say what we expected from the bar staff. But should we have to ? Come on Host sort out those poor drinks. So easily put right.

I celebrated my birthday on Sunday with family by having my first Sunday Roast at Host. It didn't disappoint, we all had the beef which was so succulent and all the trimmings were perfect. We ordered an extra side of cauliflower cheese and as my dad said it was the best he had ever had and he is 84, so he has had a few!! Already looking forward to the next one.

Absolutely cannot understand why this restaurant is not full every minute of every day they are open!!! The food is superb, from the starters through to the deserts. Let's not talk about the Sunday roast medley.... we'll I will because it is the best roast dinner we have ever had, you just need to try it, you won't be disappointed. Also had the full English brunch also excellent, best tasting breakfast in Bishop's Stortford. Already booked for Christmas Eve and the Christmas party menu. Staff are also very curtious and professional, nothing is too much trouble. Treat yourself this festive period and enjoy 😍

Host never fails to impress me! They have a new brunch menu and the food is amazing. We will be back to try out the bottomless brunch on a Saturday!!

I’ve visited Host many times and have never been able to fault the food, the ambience, or the service. The terrace is the place to be in summer for wonderful tapas, pizzas and burgers. The restaurant serves top quality food. They’ve just launched a new brunch menu. I’ve just eaten the best full English breakfast I’ve ever had. I won’t be going anywhere else for brunch for the rest of my life 😀

Literally one of the best Sunday roasts I have ever had!!!! Had the trio option and all the meats, veggies, condiments were superb. Service was really good and staff were friendly, would definitely go back.

Super miejsce, przyjemnie i pysznie

First time coming here in the day time and it was so nice, sitting on the terrace in the sun. We shared some food which was lovely and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only downfall is that we couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be back soon!

Didn't realise this lovely restaurant was here. Just had a wonderful lunch from their Special Menu 2 Courses £12.50 couldn't of eaten anymore. £15 3 Course meal we had a few coffees. £17,50 pp. We would highly recommend this lovely place to all . We are going back to try Sunday lunch. Clo

Bishop’s Stortford’s best kept secret! Delicious food, great portions & fantastic service. This place is MUCH better than the overly hyped & overly priced restaurants that have taken over the town. Highly recommend.

We had a nice lunch of pizza on the rooftop terrace. There are parasols but not much protection if it rains. The service was friendly but a problem meant our order was delayed. We were offered a free bowl of chips which were nice. The pizza was great when it arrived. There's enough seating for plenty of people outside.

Simon and his staff at Host were so accommodating for me and my clients a couple of weeks ago, we had organised a private function for end of summer drinks and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Will certainly be booking again :)

Had lunch upstairs on terrace- waited almost an hour for food. Waiter was young and inexperienced- apologised for the wait - due to an apparent “error”with the order system My mixed leaf avocado salad turned up with just two items- lettuce and tomato and the tapas we ordered was missing some things and some items doubled.. When we complained we were told the chef was off.. When we asked for the bill we were told the itemised bill wasn’t available and just told the cost and when we asked for a receipt, the machine jammed - the whole experience was like an episode of Faulty Towers. Such a disappointment, given the lovely setting..

I had a lovely lunch on the terrace yesterday. The food was amazing & every one of the waiting staff were friendly, polite & very efficient. There was a lovely atmosphere & I will definitely be returning in the future.

My second time visiting Host, staff are always lovely, They catered to my gluten and dairy intolerance. Such good quality foods and the portions are so generous. It's our favourite restaurant/Bar and we will travel from Brentwood to eat there regularly. Credit to the team who were very accommodating from our email conversations thank you Marcus.

What a fab place had a great afternoon wirh friends out on the terrace yesterday, and credit to all the staff yes we had to wait a while as was very busy but even in the scorching heat they worked as a team and saw to everyone's needs. The vibe was great and the young Dj was on point with the music, definitely the place to be on a Saturday. I ate upstairs on the terrace. The caesar salad was delicious but not completely filling. Considering the price they could have added some more lettuce at least. Burgers didn't come with fries which was, again, disappointing considering the price. Overall, a very pricey meal but only good, not great, food.

Had a terrible experience at host this evening. We had booked a table for 7pm for 2 people, ordered a jug of pimms and some food. 20 minutes went by and we asked when our pimms would be coming. We were met with a very sarcastic comment from a waitress who rolled her eyes at us. After another 15 minutes, we asked a waiter who said they were busy, again no apology or resolution. After waiting for 45 minutes, a large group who arrived a long time after us got their drinks. We spoke to the first waitress again and her attitude was disgusting, no apology and incredibly rude. We then said to cancel our order and we were leaving and we were met with another sarcastic comment, her tone and manner was awful. I get that places are busy but waiting for 45 minutes + for a drink is ridiculous. What made it worse was the terrible attitude of the staff who did not offer any apology or resolution and were just so rude. The people next to us had the exact same experience and cancelled their food order. I am not one to complain unnecessarily and write negative reviews, but this was the worst customer service I've ever received and I won't be returning or recommending this place.

Went here for a few drinks and food with a group of 7. Staff were all good, food was nice and pretty reasonably priced. Was not a fan of the DJ on the terrace, could barely hear what someone a few feet from me was saying while seated at a table, and they were cleaning the lines so the table we'd booked in the bar area was pointless (though they were very accommodating and got us sorted with another table pretty quickly).

That was the worst experience ever. First they served an alcohol in water glass ( because they didn't have an alcohol glass) RIDICULOUS. Then the waitress needed to come 3 times to the table before she brings the wine glass we wanted. We ordered a burger without chilli and of course came with chilli. And by the way we waited more than a hour for food to come. Honestly i heard people to say that this is a posh pup my expectations been much more than what we received. Absolutely bad 👎 experience. Never again

Always enjoy a nice drink at Host, the pizzas are made fresh downstairs and the chefs and waiting staff are always friendly. It has a lovely view and during the colder months heating for one half of the outside.

We had a lovely Sunday Lunch on the terrace upstairs. Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. Nice place, very helpful staff and the food was quite acceptable too. A good experience.

Terrace today at 2.30pm, lovely food and drink , ambience and outside dining spacious and comfortable ! Lovely waiter,very attentive but not overly so . Highly recommend

The atmosphere is good on the terrace and the staff are all lovely. The food is expensive for what it is, in my opinion if you are paying for a £13 burger you should have fries included. And the Classic burger doesn't even have cheese in. Also be careful with the mozzerella sticks, sometimes they explode while being deep fried and are still served. I did let them know and get given a new batch for free. The cocktails are nice, but there are other places in town that do better cocktails for the same price.

I have a weekly delivery of fruit and veg from Host, the quality is amazing. I started to use their service during the first lockdown in March and have continued ever since. I’ve also eaten in the restaurant on many occasions, always fab food and great service too.

Great terrace with kind team of people who will deliver great service and tasty food. ♥️ Shame is allowed to smoke on terrace. Could me 5* from me ✨

We went for a Sunday roast today despite the weather being extremely hot, the air conditioning was lovely. I had beef which was the most tender beef I’ve ever had. The food tasted great and the presentation of the meal was spot on. There was no service charge which sometimes puts me off some restaurants (I noticed a previous review on service charge) but I did leave a tip as we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I highly recommend.

I had prawns as a starter and there was only 3 prawns with loads of lettuce very disappointed main was ok had chicken not enough choice on menu plus long wait for food and large service charge wouldn't go again

Absolutely amazing place with 5 star service and 5 star quality good. First time we went there and hVe to say very well looked after and worth every minute and penny. Looking forward to our next visit.

Atmosphere was great but the food was a let down, the menu stated picianha, however it wasnt. Far too chewy, instead of a sirloin cap, it was a rump cap. Very similar looking bit completely different taste and texture

Small cafe. Lovely staff, fairly priced and the food is ok. We had cake and coffee which was good, could do with being a bit bigger.

Really really good food, and great service. I had ribeye steak and it was excellently cooked, and the veg I had with it was lovely. Would recommend for sure and will visit again

Held my 40th Birthday party out on the terrace and in the restaurant afterwards. Diana was brilliant at advising on food and drink beforehand and making sure the arrangements were all on track. Our hosts on the night put a table out with Pimm's and Prosecco and kept topping people up. They even arranged for us to go in early because it rained. Everyone commented on what a cool venue it was - the place to be in Stortford!
