We love this little cafe, The food is great. The menu is limited, but it's good food and friendly service. For a pound donation, the gardens are a nice walk around with some interesting sculptures. Worth noting - don't be scared of the understated entrance, the gardens are quite large, there's plenty of parking and on a sunny day the cafe has loads of outdoor seating.

met a friend here for Sunday lunch, you get a huge plateful of food we counted at least eight different veg. meat was a little bit tough, and it could have done with being a bit warmer.

A great oasis of calm in a lovely setting surrounded by plants and manicured gardens. Short menu with some good variety of choice but nice food well presented & tasty to boot!

We had a lovely meal at Hopleys and then a wander around the beautiful gardens. Great place to visit.

This is my second review. Last time I visited there were just a few tables inside and a comfy sofa. There was also fantastic ginger cake! The cafe has changed a bit but that is only a reflection that they are doing well - deservedly. There are many more tables inside and also some outside. The outstanding item this time was the cinnamon and apple cake. I just don't know how the cakes here are so good. My wife is threatening not to visit any more because I am so positive about them.

What a lovely meal and wonderful atmosphere! I have been here a handful of times and I've not been disappointed. The quality of the food is outstanding and tastes beautiful. I always look forward to visiting here, but make sure you book as it's always very busy!!!

Went with group of walkers for tea and cake. A large group of us arrived (by appointment) and were quickly served. Cake selection was impressive and mine was very nice, my only complaint was that some of the others got bigger servings! Very pleasant staff, good food and atmosphere.

This is a lovely independent garden centre selling different pants from the ordinary chains. They provide excellent advice on bee and insect friendly plants. The tea room is a delight providing organic tea, and home made delicious cakes. M had pear, hazlenut and chocolate cake. A delight! They are a large garden area which is open to all to walk around. A great place to spend a few hours.

We had coffee and cakes while hunting for plants for the garden. The coffee and cakes were as good as you can get and the selection of plants at Hopleys was excellent. We also loved the chance to walk round their garden. We will be bringing the family next time.

This isn't a grand restaurant or anything, more a cosy casual chilled place to have an informal bite. Made in a large cabin, various home made tasty dishes. Whilst the food isn't the best we've eaten, it's none the less very pleasant, and the atmosphere is great. There are large gardens for the children to run around and you can look at and buy craft and other items there in the restaurant. People say the roasts are good, although we have not tried those yet. Lots of luscious home made cakes and puds to keep you happy. SERVICE - could be a bit better but I think this is down to the design of the till space, where all the staff have to cram through behind the till to get to the restaurant so it gets a bit hectic sometimes. Took quite a while to queue and pay, so order the bill early I guess and choose a quiet moment to pay. A great little place.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon when they had an art exhibition on. I found the food to be well presented and very tasty. The Cafe/Restaurant have some cosy chairs outside and as we were visiting on a sunny day is was lovely to sit outside overlooking part on the grounds. My wife had a pot of tea which she said was lovely. I had a coffee which was nice but very small so I ended up ordering 2 more cups so that my wife didn't rush her drink. Free entry into the grounds although there is a tin for donations if you want to make one. The grounds are a lovely walk and definitely worth doing especially if you need to walk off one of the home made cakes from the cafe. The garden centre has a good variety of shrubs at reasonable prices although could do with more summer bedding plants for sale. All in all a lovely setting with welcoming staff. Would have given this 5 stars but for the cost of the food which can be pricey especially if you are a family.

I confess I'm hooked on this place, I enjoy it for girlie get togethers, family lunches or just a solo treat. The cakes are amazing, I love the plum or rhubarb cake but it's hard to resist delicious frittatas or wonderful hot beef sandwiches too, yummy. The salads are to die for but don't miss Fiona's lovely homemade breads either, basically whatever your taste you won't be disappointed. Must also recommend Fiona's outside catering, Copleys, all these delicious treats at your private function, nothing better.

I have been lucky enough to visit Hopleys twice now and both times was met with a warm welcome from the staff. I cannot get enough of the cakes here. They are all freshly made each day and there is something to appeal to everyone. I highly recommend my favourite, the Blueberry cake.

Wonderful home made food although it is in danger of becoming a little too expensive. Ideal for a weekday girly lunch but can get expensive if you are watching the pennies.

Been here loads now, cant get enough! The food's amazing (really good value too) and its great to be able to see how fresh everything is. The cakes are just fab. I recommend the blueberry one! Staff are lovely and the whole place has a really nice feel to it. Plus the grounds and nursery are really nice to amble around when the weathers good.

I love this cafe it has everything for everyone, always something old fashioned such as bangers and mash with a twist, or healthy options like delicious salads that not only look good but taste yummy too. Sooo many cakes to choose from I cannot begin and they are all homemade. I have heard that the owner gets up at 4am to make everything fresh for the day, if you want to eat there I would book a table as word is getting round the village and there are limited tables. The gardens are wonderful to sit out in and have a wander and there are rare and unusual plants to buy at the shop as well. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Although they do not have a licence guests are allowed to take their own beverages, and glasses are provided at no charge. What a delightful country tearoom they even do Sunday roasts! I am hooked and I hope you will be too.

We dropped in here on their first busy Sunday since they opened in their current form about a month ago. Despite clearly having had a hectic time, and having sold out of some cakes, they were still friendly and not frazzled. Now a pot of tea is not my favourite beverage, but this really was nice and I didn't recognise the name on the tag so expect it was a luxury brand. The sticky ginger cake was as good as any I can remember, in fact it may even be the best but I've had a lot and it is difficult to remember at my age! For me, the flapjack was alright - certainly a good size; although my wife on the other hand said it was really very good.If you are lucky they do have a few comfy chairs. I also spotted power points near the tables so just wonder if they might let you plug a laptop in...?Attached to the cafe is a shop, a garden centre, and perhaps of even wider appeal, some gardens. You would probably have to pay a few pounds on a gardens visiting scheme to see gardens like these, so they a nice bonus. (They do encourage you to make a voluntary donation actually, but I wasn't sure if eating there that might not be necessary). The building is reminiscent of a Scottish Forestry Commission cabin cafe, which is why I am giving it a 4 rather than 5, but in fairness I doubt the planners would have welcomed anything too 'architectural' in this rather select village. It looks as if they also do lunch.

Dining out on past glorys, this used to be the best deal in town, now they are overpriced and over rated, quite frankly felt abit ripped off and although the food was OK, wasn't worth the price

I have read a reviews and drove there for an hour. Starving. At first I thought it was a bit quiet. And they said kitchen is shut. Very disappointed. Luckily there was a nice corner shop with delicious things. So had to have nibbles in the car. Saved myself a hundred quid ";))

I visited with a friend for a pre booked, three course dinner to celebrate my birthday and see Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland. ( Fabulous!). This was my first visit. The hall is beautiful and huge. We were seated at a table by a pillar with uplighting. Not good for my friend’s migraine. We asked to move and were. There was some confusion about all our details coming with us but all fine. My starter was crab cakes. Three tiny patties, fine for a starter, but I could taste everything but crab. The Waldorf Salad was mainly apple with a few bits of celery and leaves and the patties tasted predominantly of lemon. My main was Crispy Gressingham Duck. It wasn’t. The skin was soggy and the duck over cooked. With salad and a side of potatoes swimming in garlic butter. In the first interval dessert was a deconstructed apple crumble of sorts. Nice, but weirdly dry and a bit bland. The hall is beautiful but, on the ground floor area, you are seated alongside the busy bar area. Very noisy and bustling. The service was great, but overall I didn’t think our meal, at that standard of cooking, plus a bottle of wine was worth over £100 a head.
