A nice, quiet and warm environment Sincere service Both waiters (Colin and Justin) have worked so hard, running all night around on the floor. Quite a lot of guests this evening but still the restaurant has offered good service and the food are all nice. Our special needs of having hot water, skipping sauces, a small portion of wasabi are all completely addressed. Efficient and smart staff. Perfect!

We were excited to try the food here having read the online reviews. Unfortunately we were left underwhelmed with the slow service (they seemed to forget where they had sat us and took 25 minutes to take our order) and the attention to detail. One of our dishes came without the sauce, which I enquired about and they brought a side of sauce right away, but overall the rice dish was flavourless. Very pricey too for the quality you receive.

It’s a shop with a nice environment. They basically serve authentic Japanese food. My slight drawback is that the soup of the ramen is a bit bland, but that may be because of the soup I ordered. The skewers are very Perfect, I suggest you try some~

Service is really good. If they can offer kid meal would be perfect. My son couldn’t finish his main course.

It was one of the best Japanese cuisine experience we’ve ever had! It has such unique barbecue skewers, which was so DELICIOUS - especially the tamago! the udon and ramen were very warm and lovey too. Would love to revisit again and again! Very indie casual street-style vibe of a restaurant, with very friendly staffs and welcoming atmosphere! The best 🧡

The food was okay 3/5. The service was not good. They took forever to come over to the table. We ordered a roll and 2 mains, my main dish came very quick, we had to ask out the sushi roll as they gave it to another table. And then the other main dish was also given to another table, so we had to ask again. She was very apologetic and we got my main for takeaway. They still charged us for that dish even though they had made 2 mistakes. I would not go back to place this ever again. The service was not good and the food was mediocre.

Overall we left slightly disappointed, the udon dishes (curry and teriyaki) were on the bland side and lacked veg and toppings. Felt pretty basic, the food was fine, certainly not great.

Everything was delicious and service was excellent. We'll definitely be coming back!

It was a really good experience for me. I went in today and was greeted in a really warm manner by the waitress. The service was top notch. I tried the tonkatsu chicken hell ramen and it was so good. The broth was so rich in flavor. Would of-course visit again and again.

We went to dinner because it had very good opinions and total disappointment!! The waiter was a jerk and did not understand what I had asked. It took them 50 minutes to bring us 2 ramen that they practically had ready and because we told them that we were leaving without dinner. It also took a long time for the rest of the tables to be served, but the takeout orders did come out. So we would not return.

I visited this restaurant because I saw someone post a picture of the ramen. I am now telling you to also visit this restaurant because the ramen was amazing. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, and delicious food!

I have been a regular customer of this restaurant for a long time, the staff are lovely and the food is the best Japanese food in Edinburgh. I highly recommend it!

We ate there today and it was very cold in the restaurant. They seated us next to the door and we asked to change because we thought it was getting cold there. But no, the entire restaurant was freezing. We mentioned it to the waitress, who was very friendly, but she didn't raise the temperature. The food is good, but it's not worth it because of the cold we experienced. We ate ramen and gyozas. They gave us a small appetizer from the house.

We just walked by and picked the restaurant. Very happy with it! We'll come back on the visit. Had the BBQ and udon noodles. Very filling, good value. We tried the ox tongue and that wasn't great, but an experience.

Really nice decoration, the staff was very accommodating and it was kid friendly as well. The food was delicious. We had the traditional Omu rice and it was amazing.

The ramen noodles are not delicious. It has a very strange texture and feeling, as if flour is smeared in the mouth. Then the udon noodles have no taste. The whole thing seems to have no taste in the world.

Had their Omu rice and Hell Cha Shu Ramen. Delicious.

Very original concept and good food

Overall the food suit my taste. I ordered special pork rice and teriyaki sauce, a set lunch. And bowl of home made ramen tonkatsu ramen. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere..

It was an overpriced lunch for average food, extremely disappointing. Directly without even sitting on the table they offered us water, what sounded like free drinking water from the tap, we accepted and then we got two little bottles for 3£ each. It should be more clear beforehand. The food would be okay for a third of the price. The teriyaki sauce taste was pretty weak, the chicken low quality. In general not so many spices. I see that similar feedback was given before and would be nice if the restaurant can reflect about it instead of just apologizing.

It's on the level of snack bars in Japan or Korea. The skewers were not grilled thoroughly so they were less seasoned. Overall disappointing for the price range.

The food was very tasty. But in the restaurant the music was playing so loudly that it was no longer possible to hear the person opposite. Which unfortunately gave the visit a tedious touch.

Lovely Japanese restaurant. We walked by and decided to pop in to give it a go we got tonkatu ramen and udon. The broth was very nice and texture of the ramen was good. Would love to try the ferris wheel some time. Staff are very friendly and the decor is very unique.

Came to pick up 2 x Inaniwa Udon & BBQ and it was excellent. For takeaway, the broth comes in a separate container to avoid it spilling everywhere and keep hot, and the other components of the meal are otherwise cooked nicely in the main tub. Staff were super friendly whilst I was collecting the order.

Love the interior design, vibrant and very fun - really gave me very positives vibes when I sat down. Waitress was lovely and gave me as much attention as she could considering she was the only floor staff. She even let me pick out my sake glass, which was a lovely touch. The sake bottles they use with the whiskey stone indent are great! So I was very excited for my food. However; that's where the experience soured. Instead of prawn tempura I got breaded prawns. Which perhaps wouldn't have been so bad if it was served with tentsuyu to help cut through the fat flavour but instead there were only a few (mostly decorative) drops of mayonnaise. I HATE mayonnaise but still had to use a little to elevate the bland and greasy flavour of the breaded prawns. The lack of Takoyaki was a surprise and slight disappointment but the inclusion of okonomiyaki on the menu was a welcome sight. Not quite sure why I had a naruto in my Unagi bowl but to each their own - it looked cute, I suppose... very Instagram worthy. However there was something about the Unagi that tasted... Dusty? It's hard to describe - edible but certainly subpar and not something I ever encountered when ordering eel elsewhere. Not an awful experience by any means but I think I've been spoiled by other venues. I've eaten better Japanese for the same price range and thus; have higher expectations. But I suppose I am paying the Prince's Street premium location tax. The dessert was fine if a bit small - it was, however, very photograph-able for the social media clout. And in general a lot of things had a very clean and professional look about them that gives a photo op vibe. Bonus points for "SPLASH FREE" playing over the radio. The music was pretty good in general - heard some Miku too. Nice mix of J-pop and J-rock.

Today, for the first time in months, my wife and I visited this restaurant for our lunch. All staffs were very kind! Cuisines were also very good! We enjoyed very much. Looking forward to visiting there again soon. Thank you! I took lunch at this restaurant. The staff lady was so kind. The new menus were so good. Very enjoyed very much. Looking forward to visiting again to have other menu’s dishes soon. Thank you. Today, I visited to this shop. Omuraisu and some others are very good taste. And staff and owner are also very good! We dropped in before going to the Festival Theatre. Service was excellent, food was great - Omurisu and King Oyster Udon, followed by Mochi. Another jewel in the Southsides Asian scene. Highly recommended.

Early 2023 I ordered the standard Omurisu. It's advertised as tomato rice covered with a soft scrambled egg (they have photos on the walls of their namesake dish). What I got was a rice with tomato sauce, and a thin hard-cooked shell of egg on the top. The egg was nothing like the picture and the rice flavour was a bit bland and not to my taste. I also tried some BBQ ox tongue because I make it at home sometimes and wanted to compare. The sauce was nice but the meat was bland and fatty. It had the taste and texture of pork belly, nothing like tongue at all. Not going to eat there again.

The beef and egg bowl was delicious, but the omurisu was disappointing. The omelette was very thin, overcooked, and tasteless. Not how it appears in the pictures.

Had the teriyaki chicken rice bowl. The seasoning was too sweet for my liking. The rice was a bit dry didn’t seem really fresh. The egg was raw enough but lacked a bit seasoning? Pork was okay, seemed fresh. The service was warm and friendly!

Thank you for the dreadful salmonella. I love Japanese food and have been eating undercooked eggs for years. This is the first time I get ill, and it was horrific!

These were the best Udon noodles I've ever ate in my entire life. Saying this as a german who lifes in the Japan mile of Düsseldorf.

It was my first time in Hope Omuriso. We ordered ‘wheel of Hope’, everything in the wheels was delicious. Chicken and veg Gyoza, fried chicken, shrimp tempura and fries. We ordered freshly squeezed watermelon juice which was very refreshing. My beef and egg rice bowl was really good. But we were quite disappointed with the Udon noodles and the soup was very bland. The atmosphere was really good, the service was outstanding. And i will surely come back again for the Gyoza and the rice bowl. 💖

Un restaurant que j'avais aperçu lors de mon arrivée sur Edinburgh. Slogan intéressant : Hope comes true La décoration fait très japonaise le staff est agréable mais ne font pas attention au client même quand il n'y a qu'un seul client dans le restaurant... J'ai commandé en entrée du kimchi qui était bien assaisonné et épicé. (Attention grosse portion pour 1 personne) Comme plat, Chicken Udon, les udons étaient tendre et bien cuit, concernant la portion ça fait beaucoup pour 1 personne le bol est grand. Concernant, la carte de cocktail elle est très limité mais vous pourrez goûter des alcools, bières, gin, rhum, whiskey japonais. Pas beaucoup de choix au niveau des tonique, 1 seul choix. Je recommande quand même se restaurant pour sa propreté, et la décoration avec des lanternes carp koï suspendu. Edit : back after a year to their second restaurant close to the Edinburgh festival theater and tried their okinawa udon and it was so good! It's quite meaningful for me to be back here as "hope" means so much for me in mostly when it comes to golf and I'll be back here in one year time take that little Polaroid shot and see how far I have achieved 🙏 Lovely decor and lovely service thank you so much!

Very friendly staff. Service was pretty quick and food was decent. Price, bordering on very expensive. Menu isn't massive, hope to try to other items next time.

Waitstaff here are consistently nice and attentive which bumps this up to a 5 star. The cheesy Omurice is great though quite heavy, so prepare for that. The watermelon juice is tasty and the atmosphere is good as well.

It is nice place to eat. I've had Inaniwa Udon and it was delicious. I will definitely visit this place again next time in Edinburgh.

Was here solo, dinner on a Friday. Tried their Traditional Omurisu, the dish came missing the garnish displayed in the picture but tasted nice. The restaurant is well decorated but doesn't feel very clean, especially the soft seating areas and the tables. Service was friendly and efficient.

Food is alright. On taste alone its 3.5/5, but due to the prices I'm inclined to give it a 3. The table next to me were really enjoying it though, maybe Japanese food isnt my thing. Hostess was very nice and the shop is so cute. Clean bathroom. Good to go with a group up to 5 people

Buzzing wee place. Nice menu with some interesting things on it. The ox tongue was super good, beautiful seasoning on the edamame, and the tofu rice dish hit the spot. Everybody really friendly and very speedy service.

We were at the Fringe this weekend and found this place just a few minutes away from all of the action! We were drawn in by the amazing smells and we weren’t we weren’t disappointed. The service was quick and attentive, the food was incredible, and the atmosphere was warm and chatty. Reasonable prices compared to other restaurants in the area. Wanted to go back the following day, highly recommend.
