HONG KONG KITCHEN in Southend-on-Sea

Ended up using Hong Kong Kitchen based on good Google reviews as my local was shut due to the owners being on holiday. Food was cooked quickly and tasted great. No complaints here.

I tried this little gem yesterday and OMG!! Food was delicious, very authentic, good value and staff was Friendly. Highly recommended, definatley be back.

We had 2 sets of ribs and both were very over cooked...almost burnt.. this made the meT really chewy. We called and the lady said "that's how we cook our ribs"....what burnt. She kept repeating herself so I hung up the phone in the end. Waste of £15 Will not be returning!

This used to be my fav take out..not any more.food was gross..over cooked rice Was all stuck together. Chow mein had no flavour at all..I bought 5 items and only managed to eat the pancake roll. Won't ever order from here again £35 wasted

Glad we tried Hong-Kong Kitchen. We just wanted plain and simple for a change, so chose omelette and chips. He picked meat with prawn and I chose mushroom. Both were cooked beautifully (not to oily) with added peas and onion. Each omelette came with a reasonable size portion of hot ungreasy chips. The shop did not smell of old burnt fat and the lady at the counter greeted us with a warm smile. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and will stick with this kitchen from now on.

I ordered food for 5.15pm last Thursday - BBQ spare ribs, plain chow mein, chicken and black bean sauce plus egg fried rice. Not sure whether I ordered too early and had food left over from previous day but I was not impressed. The BBQ spare ribs swam in a thin red and incredibly sugary sauce. The chow mein was ok but the chicken within the black bean was mushy and translucent. Not nice at all. And the egg fried rice had the appearance of soggy Rice Krispies. It was brown and unappetising with no texture at all with no hint of egg. I’ve been eating Chinese food for over 50 years and was not impressed at all. However as I believe in giving people a chance; I like to promote local businesses and the guy who took my order was incredibly polite, I will give them another chance.

First time for me ordering after my daughter recommended, I was a bit disappointed with the food. The chicken was very chewwy and tough in the chicken balls, the ribs had virtually no meat on at all and was all bone. The egg fried rice was lovely with the sweet and sour shredded beef. Chicken chow mein was not too bad but again the chicken was tough. Customer service was great from the young lady taking the orders.

Lovely Chinese takeaway, this is our goto when we fancy a takeaway, food is always piping hot and good quality. Recommend the Singapore rice noodles and chilli beef!

First time to order food at this restaurant. Order Singapore fried rice and Singapore chow mein. Was told delivery will be thirty minutes but was made within fifteen minutes had my suspicious when I collected the food it was lukewarm. The Singapore chow mein was stale when tasted within 2 minutes both food were cold before serving had to microwave them . While eating the food taste stale not fresh at all called the restaurant to complain the girl on the phone was shouting at me and questioning me that how can I tell a stale food, what do mean its not freshly cooked, how do you know freshly cook, i was so upset with her defensive attitude that end the call despite the fact that I was telling her I know freshly cooked food from stale she was so rude and very defensive. I was disappointed and shocked. I patronise them based on the reviews obviously not all reviews are right. Worst chinese have had in yrs felt I wastes my money. Had to eat Hot Crossbun has I couldn't eat stale food. Am not the type that write reviews but her defensive attitude and lies prompt me to write this review..

Best Chinese takeaway in Essex.

First time using this take away, will definitely be using again.. very friendly staff, even though the phone never stopped ringing.. Nice grub aswell

Good food Friendly staff Delivers on time

I was in the area and my friend said this was the best place for Chinese, so I said, why not? We stopped by around 8pm on a Saturday night and the kitchen was busy with delivery orders but the premises itself was quite empty. I ordered beef in black bean sauce with boiled rice. It was very good with the right taste and the beef was tender enough. If I ever pass by again, I will try another dish.

The best Chinese I’ve ever had, have tried many others but nothing beats this one. Curry and salt and chilli chips are amazing. Definitely recommend.

Every time We phone for a order, normally every Friday night, an there’s 6 or 7 of us, we never get the order right food, it’s not rocket science, I was so looking forward to my food, not happy and WILL NOT BE ORDERING AGAIN, you have lost good customers 😡😡😡

Popped in after work to get a bite to eat. Exceptional, polite service and helpful. I ordered the tofu curry with chips and a stir fry veg with a side of sweet and sour sauce. The curry was very good along with the stir fry veg. The child were nice but the sweet and sour sauce I had to go with them was a curry sauce which I threw away as I already had a curry. Apart from that very good food.

I've used Hong Kong kitchen for awhile now and I can say that they have let the ball drop they have let stands drop ordered 18.50 food turned up at 20.10 did say a hour so will let that go but the food was well below standard expected pork chow mein was greasy and hardly any pork I've ordered this before and it's been a lot better very poor no pork but a few pieces and the pork balls where awful hard and Greasy all in all very poor will be looking for New take away PS was offered a replacement But declined as the poor quality of food but wouldn't Delivery and offered free on next order sorry but you can't buy me off

Food is great, it can get busy for delivery so allow for that, does a lovely curry and sweet and sour, all the dishes are tasty

Always been our fav, staff are really friendly, always professional. food quality is the best in the area (tried many around) nothing comes close. Food portions can be a little small on occasions but usually fine, highly recommend Hong Kong kitchen. FOOD TIP: if there is a few of you, check out the meal deals as these can often come out cheaper than buying everything separate, they also do meal deal Boxes for one which are great value for money :)

It's ok but not the best oriental food on offer in south end. Their chicken curry is not very nice either you'd be better off buying curry sauce from a chip shop and throwing a few chicken pieces and onions in it and it would be the same as the chicken curry I bought from here.

Fantastic service and great food and lots of it. Parking is easy right outside and they also deliver. I spent £20 and we were still eating some of the dishes 2 days later! I highly recommend this takeaway and will make it our regular chinese from now on.

Usually use for home delivery. I have to say food came way before time. It was hot and very tasty

I go into this takeaway regularly but tonight the service and food is awful. I ORDERED my usual box meals only to be told I couldn't have them on this occasion? Although it clearly states any chicken dish? So I order Singapore chicken chow me in...and Singapore chicken curry ..nope can't have? I so I order chicken chow me in with noodles and Thai curry with rice. What I got was noodles with some horrible red slime chicken in it and a regular thick gluppy curry mostly of mushrooms not much chicken found here Telephoned to complain ..girl remembered me said the only difference in my meal was it should have had pineapple and chicken in it LOL Then passed me over to another lady who tried to say she didn't understand me? And that I ORDERED Singapore curry and not Thai curry...she just kept repeating herself...how do u have a conversation with someone who pretends they can't speak English and wants to keep changing the rules.. Won't be going back ever Threw the whole lot in the bin ..yuk yuk yuk

Favourite Chinese place by far... Cheese and Pinapple roles are so nice. Even though I now live in London , im unable to find somewhere so nice. Always a good treat when I return to Southend

This is a great Chinese Takeaway that we've been eating at for years, with great quality meat and tasty meals that never fail to disappoint (and for what they're offering, good prices too). I've been eating there as a vegetarian over the last year or so, and I prefer their To Fu dishes more than I did the chicken ones, and I'm very well catered for, and for even cheaper prices! This is the best Chinese Takeaway around
