Hong Kong House in Forest of Dean

Wow, so much food, it actually beat us as the portions were so generous. Tasty too. Service was quick, walked in and ordered, about 5 on a Friday evening.

Another great meal never had a bad one. Service is really good too. Arrived well within the time they said.

Staying at Whitemead forest park decided we fancied a Chinese take away. Most of the others in the area are closed on Mondays but took a chance as this one isn’t. Called order through and asked if they deliver to the park, they are collection only. Hubby jumped in the car to collect as it is only about a 10 min drive away. Had ordered chicken balls, bbq ribs, young chow rice, mix veg chow mien and a chicken and sweetcorn soup. Portions are plentiful considering the rising costs of takeaways these days. Food was hot and tasted delicious.

Looking for late night food after being at a wedding at clearwell castle. Don’t bother wouldn’t answer the phone at 00:30, so disappointing, no stars

On returning home, I found a piece of crumpled plastic in my food. Maybe old packaging or tape; difficult to tell! Ordered the house special fried rice with a spring roll and collected chicken chow mien with a spring roll. Very disappointed with the service and food.

I was camping with a large group of friends in the Forest of Dean. We made up our order and took it down to the Take away. The lady worked through our complex order very efficiently. All of our order was supplied very quickly and all in separate labelled bags which made life very easy when we returned to the campsite. Very nice people. Great Service and excellent food. Will definitely go there again. They also have a delivery service with very good rates.

We ordered our usual on Saturday. Although they were very busy at the time but the food were cooked beautifully. Spare ribs were tender, chicken chow mien was not greasy and tasty, spring rolls were crispy. I also like their satay sauce in the skewered chicken. We are always satisfied.

I ve been tried different Chinese in the town, I would stay at this one by no question. Best food served and good service sometimes they are a bit busy that reflected how good they are.

I am new to this area, recommended by my friend to HKH. I asked the lady to recommend some dishes to me and my wife, beef mushrooms in black bean sauce, crispy chilli beef, smoke shredded chicken and chicken fried rice. Very happy with all these and good match. A like given :) Good service!

Ive had a chicken chow mein from here several times now and its amazing. Im not keen on the curry sauce but the chow mein really is 10 out of 10 every time

The worst chinese I have ever been to...when I asked for my moneu back they said they would ring the police what a get out .. don't ever eat here ..

Only came here as was in town without the car. Will try one of the others next time . Been spoilt by the good quality of the Chinese takeaway at Berry Hill but they don't deliver and was too far to walk to

Don’t bother!! Rude, poor quality and don’t take responsibility when they make mistakes! We were very disappointed with this restaurant . The food was not great considering the prices

Haven't had a Chinese takeaway in ages, as, in general they're not so good for vegetarians (my wife). We noticed that "Hong Kong House" did a range of of Tofu dishes, so good for her. We ordered Crispy seaweed, onion rings, vegetarian spring rolls, followed by tofu with sweet and sour vegetables, with me having prawn balls with egg fried rice. Service was good and quick, but please note that it is cash only, no cheques or cards. The onion rings were very generous in size and number, but had very little taste and very soft texture - perhaps the onion had been previously cooked (?). Crispy seaweed was ok, but little flavour. Vegetarian spring rolls were nice, but a trifle spicy hot. The tofu was fine and the quantity of prawn balls which I had was generous, but batter was very thick and heavy, concealing any flavour or texture they had. Again I must stress the "shortfallings" may be down to my tastes, but I wouldn't be looking to repeat the visit.

I had a very poor beef n black bean source last week...So bad I had to spit it all out as it was full of fat and gristle. I look forward to this meal with my son last Monday evening and it was so bad I chucked it in the bin. I compained tonight 3rd Dec 2017 an they told me I was wrong. All I looked for was to have that meal replaced free of charge and the rest of my order I would pay for...The poor customer service on the end of the phone told me I was wrong and they served perfect beef meal....Very poor customer service as I spend 60 pound per month on their food and they would not except a valid complaint. very poor. I will not be ordering again...if they can afford to not have my business...good on them....AVOID AS POOR IN ALL ASPEACT....If you want to get in touch with me and justify how you are right my name is Stuart Skinner.....PS you delivered food to our normal location tonight and the soup was all over he place due to a cracked carton....u immediately gave discount refund....I don't understand.......totally PISS POOR......Have a nice night.......The web can always help any business...I hope this has the desired effect.....If u can afford to lose my business and others over the cost of a refund on a 4 pound dish then what has the world come to....enjoy.

Ordered a delicious meal for delivery. We stayed at the Forest Cabins for a holiday and was recommended by the local people this was the best takeaway in town. I would also definitely recommend this too! Food was top quality and tastes amazing. All in all a great service and would love to go back, better than where I come from.

After receiving a bland and lifeless bag of food from Hong Kong House, we called the restaurant to voice our concern about the quality of the food, expecting an apology and perhaps a refund.

Great food, great prices, superb menu selection best Chinese takeaway in coleford. Very clean inside - wouldn't go anywhere else. Plus it's a very friendly family run business.

Good range of authentic Hong Kong style take-away. My wife (who is from Hong Kong) was delighted to find that the owners were from just down the road from where she grew up and that the food tasted just like it was supposed to.

Food was tasty and hot, not the best we've had though. Prices would be okay if the quality was a little better. Not much else around Chinese wise though so this may have to be your only choice.

We had a take away from here. Meal was great with good size portions and reasonably price. Will visit again if in the area.

Nice food at reasonable prices, also deliver if requested.can't say me and my family have ever been disappointed recommend to anyone.

This chinese is the only one I use. Even when they close in July (usually) I won't go anywhere else. They make my food to order (I'm a fussy person) and always spot on.

Food is like most take always nice but not out of this world . Had nicer but it was very eatable . Priced not to bad nice to have near cabins

We occasionally get a take-away and collect. Food is always of a reasonable standard. Not the best we have ever tried but a fairly good standard, especially for Coleford.

Food is lovely have been going here for years and it's very good. The food is never greasy and always tastes like it should

We ordered a Sichuan chicken and some other dishes, spring roll was crispy , chow mien was not greasy nor dry- just the right amount of oil to cook , the quality of the food was exceptional good! People there were friendly too. Will definantely order again soon!

I've always used this Chinese as it has always been the best in the first of Dean. I will never order again. Our food arrived late, cold & drenched in Grease and oil. When we called to complain she argued and said there's no way and continued to speak over me & shout, she then hung up just as I asked for a refund. I called back and explained she had hung up and I would like a refund and she shouted 'what do you want now'. The owner must of been behind her because she then started to say out of the blue 'stop shouting at me' .. I never raised my voice. Clearly he had heard and she was trying to cover her own back. I then got hung up on again. We never got a refund. I've ordered from this place for years .. I will never order again. AVOID. I recommend China 21 or luckys in coleford. They will soon go out of business if this rude horrible woman is still working there. Totally appalled.

Staying at the log cabins up the road, got a take away from here. Food was hot and on time. Could have been a little less greasy but on the whole a nice meal.

Have been having take aways from here for over a year now and always enjoy them. The place is always busy and sometimes this can be reflected negatively if you are in ordering your food as phone orders seem to take priority. The food is fantastic and is always hot which is good. The prices are reasonable for what you get and the chow mein is probably the favourite dish!

The food is always great. Have been going for over a year now and we've never had an issue with our order.The only thing preventing this review a 5* is their terrible customer service. You could be standing in front of them and they will ignore you and answer the phone. If they are busy you are extremely lucky to even get a thank you from them.

We had a take out from here whilst on our holiday. Very nice indeed all fresh no complaints,Only gripe is we asked and paid for large chips and were given regular, I heard the kitchen saying to the girl on the til the til something about "if they want large chips they should ask" which seemed a bit odd however as the girl was very pleasant and very nervous I thought it not worth questioning until I got home and saw the slightly smaller portion - I won't let it get me down though!

The girl serving has to be one of the most rudest ppl I have ever met, they let us in we ordered then she went balsamic at us as they were closing! Surely if you wanted to close you wouldn't take our money!

Good food and great value, stayed at the log cabins up the road and whilst it was too long to walk to it was worth the drive

We have often ordered food from the Hong Kong house. We have never had a bad meal from this takeaway.The food is affordable. The restaurant is very clean.

Usually a frequent customer here but won't be going back, made a phone order as usual, went to collect it, the order we collected was wrong, the member of staff at the till denied it was wrong and blamed us for not ordering correctly, he then got the member of staff that took the order to come out and confront us to once again say we were at fault in front of other customers, even though this person repeated our order correctly down the phone but must have written it wrong for the kitchen, disgusting service, all this conflict over a portion of boiled rice that took them 3 minutes to cook. Maybe they had a busy night but that's not a way to treat a customer! Especially if you want them to come back!

Being a Wednesday evening, the Lucky was closed so I hopped over the road to the Hong Kong. The service and the food is not as good (too many onions) but it was hot, tasty and plenty. I would go back, but only on a Wednesday!

We've used Hong Kong House for many years, as it is by far and away the best Chinese takeaway in Coleford. Consistent, good quality ingredients in the main, spotlessly clean and always quick and good service. We've had the occasional bland meal but know to generally avoid on quieter nights when the main chef isn't on. It won't blow your socks off with originality or new flavours, but good nonetheless

We had takeaway for 3 persons as we were working from our hotel room. Ordered Special Chow Mein and Special Curry. To our horror, the chow mein had 3 slices of chicken and 1 slice of roast pork and the curry had 3 slices of chicken and 2 slices of roast pork and loads of onions. No sign of beef, prawns or king prawns as advertised. When we called to complain, the owner blamed his chef and said he must have given us the wrong order and we collected the vegetarian version. Never knew vegetarian version had chicken and pork???Seems like we paid extra for nothing....
