Bought a lot of food from here and ALL of it cold I only live 2 miles away the chicken tasted awful You can’t send out cold chicken it can kill I would avoid it based on that you can’t take chances

Worst food ever ordered. Definately not beef and definately undercooked but restaurant didn’t care. Would never order anything from there again.

After all day looking forward to our Chinese take away to say it was disappointing is an understatement. The food tasted burnt I thought it was just me but my partners was the same. Think we will be giving this place a miss in future

The worst Chinese takeaway in the Midlands. If you don't believe me, order some food from Hong Kong City. Infact, if you ordered it from Hong-Kong in China, it would probably be in Telford quicker. Personally, I'd stay well clear of this place. The food was also diabolical. The only plus side to this place, and I mean the Only plus side is the girl that works there, she deserves a medal. Disgusting place. The owners attitude is vile. He won't keep a business running for too long. There's plenty of better restaurants out there. There's one in Madeley, something to do with a Golden Gate.

So this evening i ordered my wife a meal after a rather terrible shift at work. Looking forward to a decent meal for a treat. Meal was delivered by nice lady upon opening the sealed bag the curry sauce that was wrapped in foil was warmish, then i looked at the beef chow mein to find a PUBIC HAIR on the lid. Not only was both meals luke warm something i wasnt exspecting but to find this human hair on the lid was like OMG!. Did the just eat call chat and even though i payed £31.65 for two meals i was offered £11.60 as compensation! Was told if i wasnt happy with the offer ring the Hong Kong takeway direct. So i rang their restaraunt spoke to a very polite young lady who tried to deal with my complaint. She went of to speak to her Boss who said the food was delivered hot, and the hair wasnt theres! He wouldnt come to speak to me direct and left the young lady to speak to us. I did say the food looked good but i wasnt exspecting to have to bang it in microwave on arrival but hadnt asked for PUBIC HAIR as an extra. SO TO EVERY ONE WHO MANAGES TO READ MY COMPLAINT, YES THE FOOD LOOKED NICE, BUT I WASNT WILLING TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO EAT IT AS IF THERE IS A PUBIC HAIR DELIVERED IN A SEALED BAG (DEFINATLY NOT DOWN TO DELEIVERY STAFF) THEN THIS CAN ONLY BE FROM IN THE KITCHEN. SAD REALLY TBH But message to the cook & owner things can happen i understand this but please understand im a paying customer who wasnt asking for much, just a half decent meal.

We have always ordered food from this takeaway. Today the 14th of May was no exception. Unfortunately the oil used to fry the prawn toast and the Singapore vermicelli was rancid. I don’t think I will be ordering from there any time too soon.

Chicken balls and chips both overcooked. Struggled the get my fork into them. Made me sick after I had eaten them! Don't waste your money at this place.

Went and collected our order as I think the online experience for people is what's not helping this places reviews. The current climate has made them and many others be overwhelmed with requests, so sadly something had to give. Staff were friendly, venue was clean, food was hot and full of flavour. Especially recommend the Singapore chow mein. Thanks

AVOID! Thanks for ruining our Christmas day! Gone down hill this place!, used to be amazing & use to go all time but changed when food started to go to the dogs and things left out of order! ** But last night tops it all me & my family have had a bad stomach all night and this morning! Food was disgraceful ** , wish we had thrown it away! Curry was cold thinking on it now its must not have been cooked properly! Or cooked in a batch and left to cool, will never order from Hong Kong City ever again! My advice is Fortune cooking in oakengates !! Cheaper and better!

Do not use this restaurant, they cancel your online order with no warning at all after accepting the order and money. Refunds take 3-5 days and therefore we were not able to go somewhere else. Usually good food but not reliable at all. Avoid with your online orders.

Absolutely vile food 48.95 pounds down the drain messed up the order and then we couldn't get through to them got in the car after paying for delivery for my husband to be told that it was him who was wrong the order was cold and it was thrown in the bin I wish I had looked at reviews on here before ordering never again its put me of a takeaway for life why they are still open I never will know they should be ashamed of themselves

Myself and my wife are in our 80’s and have been loyal customers of Hong Kong City Chinese Take Away for more years than we can remember. We have always enjoyed the food and have never complained. However, due to the appalling treatment we received on 5th August 2020 by the girl on the phone, we will never be using them again. My son came to visit us and we decided to order some Chinese food. We ordered our normal choices and my son ordered some Deep Fried Crispy Beef with Chilli & Carrots. He found the meal to be completely inedible. The beef had been so over cooked that he could barely chew any of the food. It was very tough and rubbery and after 5 minutes of trying he couldn’t eat any more. We also tried the food and agreed. He then called Hong Kong City to tell them of how the meal arrived and the girl on the phone said that there was nothing wrong with the meal and that it was supposed to be that way! He said that he had to throw it away and if it would be possible to have a credit for the next time we ordered because of being unhappy. She then said that we couldn’t have a credit because we had been given them too many times before! My son said that his parents had NEVER asked for a credit or ever complained before and had always been happy with the food. My son then asked us (whilst the girl was on the phone) if we’d ever complained or asked for a credit to which we said “absolutely never”. This didn’t change the girls response and just said that this is what their computer says and that’s that. She didn’t apologise. She didn’t offer to look into the issue. She didn’t say that she would ask the manager for advice. She upset us all very much with her ignorant rude attitude and accusations and because of this we will never use them again and the take away have lost a very good customer.

Waited nearly 2 and half hours, being charged £7 for delivery when we live only a couple of miles down the road, and when it turns up it's wrong! Was sent chips and prawn toast instead of pancake rolls and ribs, which are much more expensive so I had overpaid! Plus the food is just okay. Very disappointed and won't be ordering again!

I ordered my meal on just eat, asked for sweet and sour prawns in battter get sent Cantonese style, curry sauce was sickly sweet , and chips were burnt and bitter, we have used his takeaway over 20 years, but won't use it again, I'm wondering if they have a new cook? I wouldn't have been so brassed off but I added a note with my order, telling them I wanted them in batter as they did exactly the same last month , not good x

So we ordered a chinese tonight to be told 20 minutes for delivery, over an hour later still no food and no answer from the restaurant. Absolutely disgusting service.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. I telephoned for an order on Saturday evening 18th January at 21:30 and was told to wait which was fine as I guessed they were busy, I waited and heard the receiver being picked up and then they hung up.I called back and asked why they had hung up on me and the girl was extremely rude and said "You know what, I don't even want your order" and hung up AGAIN.This is a terrible way to run a business. I hope people will read this notice and go elsewhere because there are far better take away restaurants in Telford. David Chiu in Saint Georges and Easy Happy in Oakengates and many other places that give good customer service and actually want your order.Don't put up with this please give 'Hong Kong City Stirchley' a WIDE BERTH!!

DO NOT USEEE...I ordered vermicelli noodles which were burnt or been cooked in a burnt pan.... no taste.... not spicy the chicken wings were good but honestly it was terrible Rung back and the chef was rude and told me it is what it is... no refund no offer for another one ... Ordered a meal circa £25, requested for 19:15 delivery when ordered at 18:00hrs. The food turned up at 20:00 (45 minutes late).When serving out for my wife and daughter the rice was crusty, the chips were over cooked and like cardboard. The chow mien was also crusty and cold, the sweet n sour chicken was no different. Called to speak to the manager who as it turns out won’t take customer calls!Requested a refund and was told nothing could be done, and the food was cooked in the same way as always. Also they were very busy..., lost for words on what that explanation satisfies as its was like trying to eat a dried up scabs and since when does it become acceptable to use being busy as a reason for poor quality food, late delivery, and a disgraceful attitude. The food went in the bin as it was disgusting resulting in another takeaway being ordered in from elsewhere.Absolutely no interest in their customers satisfaction from the chef / manager.

Every order over 20 years ordered Lemon Chicken (Lemon Separate), same today but delivered Orange Sauce. Telephoned to say mistakes and told no mistake I ordered Orange. Very Obnoxious Girl and refused me to speak to a senior person.Never ever will we buy or recommend this Take Away.

The meal was terrible stodgy rice and the duck was mostly fat wouldn't order again very disappointing

Saturday 1st June we made an order for collection for food between 5 of us. Not ONE of us enjoyed our meal! In fact this morning ever single one of us has had a poorly stomach. In the picture below this was one of my chicken balls that was pink in the middle and this was the same with every single chicken ball. I do not recommend this take away one bit it should be shut down! I should of put the phone down as soon as the miserable women who took my order answered. Avoid this restaurant at all costs unless you’re looking to end up in hospital with food poisoning.

Have used this place before but not again. The meal arrived totally soaked in Greece. my hands, clothes and kitchen were covered in fat in unpacking. the chow mein did not have a beansprout in sight and was overcooked mush. The vegetables with oyster sauce was just broccoli. Not a beansprout, bamboo shoot,waterchestnut, mushroom, sweetcorn or onion in sight. just broccoli.i had a few mouthfuls of each dish and gave up as it was so unpleasant. what a waste of money.

We order from here every Saturday and have the food delivered. Whether it's chicken curry, chow mein or sweet and sour we have never been disappointed. Normally delivered in half the time they state and girls on the telephone and the delivery drivers are always friendly. Whenever we ask for dishes without for instance onions and mushrooms there is never a trace of either. Overall a lovely meal and wouldn't keep going back every week if it wasn't. My mother in law looks forward to any left overs too. Thanks all at Hong Kong City

Ordered from here tonight, food seemed great at first as we’ve ordered from here before and never had a problem. We were getting to the bottom of the chip bag when I found a brown thing at the bottom it was only when I looked closely that it was in fact a sort of insect. I spat my food out and tipped the chips on the table. Bugs legs were still moving. I took a picture and sent over to Chinese, the boss said there was ‘no chance’ it could have been in the food and I was only offered £10 off my next order, who in their right mind would WANT to order again after seeing that. I am now left wasting my money and feeling physically sick. I have attached a picture, that is not an insect that would just be lying on my table, this was found in THEIR food! Disgusting. Didn’t even want to rate this a star

We've used Hong Kong City for years and never had a real problem. But it seems standards are slipping. The last few times it's not been 100% one way or another but tonight's has been the final straw. Ordered on Just Eat at 6pm with a delivery time stated of 6.50pm. Gets to 7pm and it was showing that the food was delivered at 6.50pm. Phoned the restuarant at 7.30pm and was told they were busy and it would be on the way shortly. The girl on the phone wasn't exactly the most helpful though and sounded like it was a lot of trouble to get an apology. 8pm comes and still no food. Got in touch with Just Eat and they called the restuarant and was told it's would be 5.to.10 mins. It turned up at 8.15pm and well what can I say. The food was cold and the lettuce from the Yuk Skung was well past it's best and was the warmest thing we had and ended up throwing away more than not. Sorry but I won't be using them again.

Had heard good things about this Chinese but was very disappointed with the food

Food delivered late and cold. Rude operator couldn't remember her name or that of the owner. Insistent that missing food was not missing yet refusing to send driver back to corroborate my comments. Food ended up in bin with me £40 in the red. Have requested Mark? the owner for 20 years? to call me back tomorrow. What are the odds on a call back?

Just had delivery at about 5.50pm, not sweet and sour sauce with King prawns, telephone and lady said it will be sent straight away 6.20pm telephoned again asking about sauce (meal now cold) I was told it had left but driver had other deliveries, I suggested mine should be first (only live 4 mins drive away), I was told That’s how things are. Not nice people.

I didn't feel like cooking so ordered by phone and was told it would be 15 minutes, when I arrived my order was ready. I had mushroom omelet, chips and peas, I thought it was very good, the omelet was packed with mushrooms and the chips were just right. A good size meal for less than £5.

I've been using Hong-Kong city for a while now, food is consistently good and in good quantities.

Phoned in our order and collected it 15 minutes later. Good ordering system. Very good size portions. 1 portion of rice between 2 is enough. Chicken curry and beef with ginger and pineapple were enjoyed, also the prawn toast was very good.

Fuimos aquí en vez de nuestra normal Chino en Madeley y fue el mayor error. Compramos la comida de aquí y en primer lugar, estaba equivocado cuando llegamos a casa, la comida estaba fría y el pollo parecía tener una jalea a su alrededor. La comida era horrible. Fuimos directamente a la basura.

I've used this take away for many years now and one thing I can say is the food has stayed consistently good with a good range of Chinese dishes. Recommended to anyone who fancies a no frills meal. Only downside is cash only.

Han tenido siempre desde aquí tome por años y nunca tuve ningún problema. La comida siempre es agradable y caliente y entrega siempre muy rápido.

Después de un día que no tienes ganas de cocinar así que pedimos desde nuestro local llevar. Llamé por teléfono a la orden y me dijeron que sería de unos 10 minutos. Cuando llegué tenía una corta espera para mi pedido, pero no mucho. Las porciones eran enormes y 1 porción de arroz entre nosotros estaba bien. Mi esposa tenía gambas chop suey" al platillo, lo que nos pareció muy bonito, pero necesitaba un poco más de sabor, quizás chili o ajo, me dio un poco de jengibre escabeche mi dijo que hicieron la diferencia. Tuve ternera con jengibre en escabeche y piña, muy sabroso.

Food took 2hrs to be delivered, chips cold when arrived, curry and sweet and sour luke warm, vegetable chow main greasy with a funny smell went straight in bin, ended up having a chip butty wasted £25 will not order again.

I ordered a meal tonight through the just eat app nice food delivered before the estimated time, the only thing that spoilt it was the rude delivered driver

Very good chips, not keen on the meat it all seems a bit jelly like, I will eat the deep fried crispy chicken etc, but the pan it is cooked in must be going through a moult because the sauce is full of burnt, black bits that are bitter and hard (they can get stuck in your gums and it hurts) They do a nice mushroom curry. Its OK and we use it because its convenient.

I have used this take away a few times. The quality of the food is very good and large portions. The staff are friendly. The entrance is clean and tidy. Service is is very good. Just give it a try.

We had a leaflet and thought we would give it a try. It was amazing and look forward to visiting. The lady on the phone tells you how long and the food came well within that time. Hot and delicious. We have found our new favourite Chinese

I can honestly say we have never had a problem with the food from here, in fact we have tried other takeaways and always return to this one. Food always seems fresh and hot and plentiful. Staff are OK but we order by phone and then collect so we don't really see much of them. We have also had meals delivered in the past and had no problem. I can only say as I find and I am happy with this takeaway and shall continue going there.

I used to go here every week and then for some in be known reason the staff just started to get my order wrong. Every week u didn't know if I'd have a side portion of curry sauce,sweet&sour,gravy or BBQ now if it was once n a while I wouldn't of minded but it was everytime! The staff are rude and uninterested and honestly couldn't care! After complaining my order was wrong everytime! Such a shame that there rudeness has put me off going!

We ordered a takeaway from here, off the just eat website which rated it 5 out of 6 stars! We received the food and it was bland. We ordered bbq spare ribs, a chicken curry with fried rice and some chips. The only item edible were the chips!!! The spare ribs had NO TASTE WHATSOEVER!!! The meat was a weird texture and the sauce had no flavour at all. The chicken curry could have been the same dish as the spare ribs. Neither of them had any taste at all. The fried rice was dreadfully over salted and basically the whole meal was all inedible! I rang them up to complain and they said they would get the manager to ring back. Having just spoken to the same girl as before because she was clearly the spokesman for the manager who clearly doesn't care enough about his awful business and tasteless food to speak to me himself, they refused to refund the money and claimed that not both of the dishes could be tasteless! An absolutely ridiculous response. Clearly, from these other reviews, they have this problem a lot! If I could have given no stars to rate them, I would!!! NEVER EVER ORDER FOOD FROM THIS TAKEAWAY!!! I am so shocked at the service, the food and the management (no solution or apology given) DREADFUL!

Tried to order by phone always engaged, very good sign, so I went by car to order, over 10 people waiting to collect, another good sign.Order lemon chicken, king prawn fo Young and young chow fried rice and it was cooked very quickly.Took home and started to plate up, young chow rice very dried up rice and meats hard (like dog treats), fo Young good ingredients put in wok and left to burn and then folded over (disgusting) and the chicken in batter with lemon sauce, chicken very dry and a tub of lemon sauce to feed several.Not good

Plenty of choice on menu but don't ask for something a little bit different because they can't handle it. Staff are disinterested and rude - ignore customers to continue their gossip and discuss previous customers in a disparaging way.

Not gonna beat about the bush.Ordered the meal for 2 D1, came in good time but OMG.......Soup starter was ok Prawn toast was okChips nicePrawn crackers niceSpecial fried rice, bad.Sweet and sour pork....hmmm was it pork?Chicken and cashew....chicken was slug like and looked anaemic like Iceland frozen pieces, cashews burnt and tasted vile.And last but not least......Beef and beansprouts...this was the icing on the cake, i can honestly say that I have never tasted anything quite like it.Made me gag putting it in my mouth tasted like dirty dish water and smelt horrific! Threw most of it in the bin.Shocking

Always use this chinese when ordering with my partner as he prefers it here, there is also more choice of things than our local chinese. We have never had a problem with any of our food from here and they are always happy to take certain ingredients out of our meal or add in extras which is greatDelivery is always within the time frame that they say

I rang my ordered and went to fetch it no problem , upon getting it home found we had the wrong order . rang them up again and was told to go back and fetch are order again no apology . got home for the second time still wrong order, rang them back up and was called a liar over the phone was told that they had given me the right order and had to take it back for the third time .still no apology . staff was unfriendly and rude . would never go back

Myself and my mum went to get a takeaway as a treat for my elderly grandmother who can't leave the house. We ordered fine, I ordered the Vegaterian wontons in which I asked her to check with the kitchen that there was NO prawns in as I was allergic. He lady came out and confirmed that's fine. When I got back I cut one open to check and there was prawns in them! No problem I hadn't eaten any and said to family ill just take them back afterwards! On my return I politely said that I'm sorry but I asked for no prawns in them as I was allergic, to which I got the most disgustful talking back I've ever heard. I said I didn't mind but I would just like a refund. To which I received more abuse, saying that I hadn't asked for no prawns and that that's what they are. She then disappeared into the kitchen for 5 minutes on return she grunted that I could have a refund threw the change in my hands and skunked back behind a closet door. What a vile woman! This lady should definitely not be in the customer service industry even if it is just a cheap fast food takeaway. Will not be using again!

My family stopped using this takeaway because of getting order wrong.I decided to give them a chance but guess what they got our order wrong when it was delivered .I telephoned them and was told it was my fault it is never theirs.

We use this take away often. Sometimes we use the delivery service, which is excellent and sometimes we phone our order through and go and collect. All food is delicious and piping hot. Never had a bad meal and all the staff are friendly and polite.

Excellent food, lots to choose from, very speedy delivery and great prices. staff are helpful and friendly.

Been here a few times I find the food good and great value When asked if I could change a few ingredients in my meal and make it spicy they were happy to help

has to be one of favourite chinese takeaway`s in telford , never had a bad meal, very nice.The staff on the phone are very helpful, however the dying fish in the unclean fishtank kind of make you wonder if the back is as clean as the front , shame as it lets it down

This is our local take away....not the nearest to us, but the one we choose to travel to as it is by far better than any other chinese.It's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.Staff on the front counter are always changing, but new staff always seem to be trained very quickly without a problem.Delivery and pick up times are always kept to and we are never left waiting around.The food is always fresh and well cooked. We have eaten from her for years and will continue to do so.
