We stumbled in without a reservation on a busy Sunday morning. The staff accommodated us without a fuss. Delicious, well-prepared, contemporary take on a traditional Scottish breakfast. Pastries to die for. Very good coffee. And the freshly baked whole grain bread with the poppy seed crust...oh my. Bright, cozy atmosphere inside. Attentive staff. If we lived in Edinburgh, it would be our go-to bakery and breakfast place.

Food tasty enough but overpriced for what it was. One staff member was just downright rude. Looking at me like I was dirt on her shoe when I walked in, the place was quiet - “do you have a reservation?” When I replied no, she made a big deal of scanning through the diary - I said, well the friend I’m meeting may have made a reservation - she replied “well I don’t have any reservations in” (so why the big deal?!) then stated, well the only reservation I have is for (friend’s name) 🙄🙄. After eating our meals we then got presented with the bill from this rude staff member with a brusque - “here’s your bill, this table is reserved in 10 minutes” - no, would you like anything else?? Shame that such a nice place can be ruined by one person. I won’t be back. Plenty other choice nearby

Been here three times and the breakfast food is very good. Last couple of times, despite having booked seems to be a push to get us to sit next to the toilet door. First time asked to be moved and told no unless booked. Explained I had and so we got moved. Second booking, again, despite better tables away from the toilets, we’re shown back to the toilet door. Just left and won’t be back.

We arrived without reservation and was given the choice of inside or outside dining, with great, attentive service with a smile. We were slightly awkward as we shared dishes (to try more of the delicious sounding menu) and were even offered staggered service and spare plates! We had the potato and courgette latkes followed by Eton mess fruit toast. Highly recommend… the added chorizo was a huge serving. Highly recommend the only disappointment is that it is so far away from home as we’d be regulars!

Instant service and shown to our table within seconds of arriving by lovely polite staff smartly dressed in spotless clothing, their own, no uniform but we liked that. A great bar knocking out all types of coffee, tea, and various smoothies. We opted for the defence mango smoothie with vitamin A & C it was delicious although a small serving I could have enjoyed a pint of it. A great menu with lovely dishes on show but we opted for the full Scottish and weren’t let down perhaps only for having to accept poached eggs with I’m not keen on, we wanted fried the easiest egg to cook. I was told they didn’t have enough room on the flat top in the kitchen which is a poor excuse I’ve cooked on them many times. Remove one pan and place another then revert to poaching pan after 5 minutes. Easy The bacon was perfectly cooked as were the two delicious pork sausages the haggis slice and black pudding although the eggs, poached over cooked and small. With a quite high charge for each dish they could easily use a large egg, we are taking pennies difference in price. The large field mushroom was good and their own homemade sauces baked beans were also good, not quite Boston Beans good but still better than the tinned variety. Home made ketchup was also good and not sickly sweet like the most famous kind. Sourdough toast and butter a great touch. An Americano decaf to follow was the icing on the cake a great tasting coffee again quite small. Very popular every seat was taken and I look forward to my next visit

We booked Honeycomb for a catch up between friends and to meet their new baby. 4 of us were dining as our babies too young to eat. Unfortunately throughout our breakfast we were conscious we were being hurried as we only had 1 hour to dine. What a ridiculous way to manage your covers. Also at the top of the bill it states service is not included but they added on 12.5% at the bottom. It’s a shame because the food was good but as far as paying £4.40 for a cappuccino goes & the hurried impersonal service, we won’t be back. Honeycomb is lucky they are situated where they are but there are definitely more friendly, relaxed places nearby to dine.

Honeycomb & Co is a nice cosy place perfect for breakfast, brunch and lunch.Nice and sophisticated decoration warns you it will not be a cheap place, specially close to Morningside.I had to book a table in advance now with Covid-19 restrictions (the tables fly away!) and had no problem with the online booking system.Staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. The service was quick and good.On a small note, I noticed that unless the kitchen staff were men, only women were working there, very sharp of course. I feel it is very pretentious for a simple cafe. The food was delicious (bacon eggs avocado toast, bacon French toast with maple syrup and sour cream and mushroom toast). With the total bill I could make 4 times what we ordered but I knew that already.A place were cooking skills are not necessary and the main ingredients are bacon, avocado and eggs, the price should be more affordable and approachable for a wider customer profile, therefore more (happy) customers and higher profit.I recommend this place.

I visited Honeycomb and Co with my sister in early September. We were excited to visit as it had been hard to find anywhere on a Tuesday for brunch in Edinburgh. We arrived and were pleased by the beautiful restaurant with impressive cake and sandwich cabinets. We were sat at our table after waiting a few minutes. We were sat by the door. It was OK but my chair kept falling in a hole in the floor. When I asked if there was something to be done I was told just to avoid it.Our order was taken relatively quickly. I ordered the cheesy mushroom toast and my sister had the full breakfast. We had to wait roughly 30 minutes for the food. It was really delicious when it arrived and that's why I've given Honeycomb and Co 4 out of 5 instead of 3.We were told when we arrived that we had 1 hour before they needed the table back. We had seen others moved on so it made the experience a touch stressful as we felt we had to get on with it. In the end we were there about an hour and 15 minutes. The food and drinks are pretty expensive. The full breakfast was £14 and my one slice of toast was £10.50. Filled rolls are between £4 and £8. I would recommend a visit and would go back. But small changes would have made a massive difference to my experience.

We went here as returning customers after the reopening as part of the eat out scheme for brunch. The menu looked good but, confusingly, there were no prices for separate dishes. The menu simply offered any dish and a drink for £20 per person, with the government contributing half. In my view, it doesn’t seem right to change your menu and significantly increase your prices because of the scheme. This means, a double filling breakfast roll and a coffee comes in at £20. Whilst £10 for a full breakfast and coffee is excellent value in anyone’s mind, it doesn’t escape the fact that £20 is the price set for all dishes. It didn’t sit well with us to have set up a different pricing structure for a scheme that has been established to help ailing businesses.

Visited for brunch on the first Monday of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Arrived without a booking but staff kindly found me a table within the indoors seating area. There are not a large number of tables so I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment! It got busier and busier as the day went on. The breakfast/brunch menu from 10:00-12:00 consists of juice, hot drink and main dish for £20 with £10 being paid by the government. Paying £10 for a full meal and also two drinks is definitely worth it! The dishes ranged from waffles to full breakfasts, to granola etc. I ordered the shakshuka which came with two generous slices of homemade sourdough bread. A tangy and creamy shakshuka with the eggs perfectly cooked. The sprinkling of feta and seeds was a nice texture touch. I got the pressed apple juice and Earl Grey tea for my drinks. There are definitely changes put in place due to the ongoing coronavirus situation, but none which are excessive or disruptive to the dining experience. All staff wear face shields and sanitise their hands often. Tables are spread further apart with a maximum of 6 to a party. There are small tables set outside so customers have the option to dine outdoors. Upon seating a member of staff takes your name and contact number so they can trace visitors if there is an incident. Contactless payment is preferred. The staff are friendly and helpful in all aspects. Definitely worth a visit to help out a small business in these unprecedented times!

The food and drinks menu weren't overly large, which is usually a good sign. Busy when I got there but calmed down between my order and its arrival. Staff was friendly with a laid-back vibe, but the way all the gin labels were precisely displayed and lined up, the just-so decor (clean, neat, modern) tells me that there's more going on. Loved the quirky doors to the WC and the soap & moisturizer combo smelled divine. Tastefully incorporated autumn and halloween decor into the existing scheme.

We enjoyed a quick lunch with surprisingly spicy food. It is well presented and reasonably generous helpings at a good price

Came for brunch, seated quickly but took 15 mins for our order to be taken. Over 35 mins for the meal to arrive despite others being served who arrived after us. Waitress only informed us ‘we are busy’ and had no indication of when the meals would be arriving. We had an hour parking ticket and had to move our car before getting the food. Very disappointing as we travelled especially to eat here.

My wife noticed that Honeycomb& Co offered a 'Gin Themed Afternoon Tea' experience - something that we'd never heard of. We decided to try and were absolutely delighted by the tasting experience and the staff involvement. Most, if not all, of the savoury nibbles included gin in their ingredients and all were different, interesting and very tasty. Our table was large (the food is served on multi-layer cake stands) and well placed for conversation (it was my wife's birthday). The staff were very helpful and attentive, and clearly pleased with the gin-themed afternoon. Excellent ! Five stars, 10/10 !

Had a quick breakfast here and loved it. Good vibe, quality sausages and very interesting menu Not the cheapest but I think you get what you pay for. Ps toilets are a total credit.

We visit Edinburgh every August for the fringe and have tried many many places to find the best brunch. And we have decided that Honeycomb & co are defo one of the best! Big portion sizes of fresh ingredients. The chorizo is amazing and so juicy. Lovely unique drink choices too. And their homemade cakes are beautiful. Also have gluten free options!

Good to see this property finally making a go of things. Its one of many busy eateries in Bruntsfield area of Edinburgh, and rightly so. Its trendy friendly staff are proud of the product, and happy to make your stay an enjoyable one.

As an Edinburgh local, Honeycomb & Co is one of my most visited places for breakfast/lunch. Always great food and the service is fabulous even if just popping in for a take away coffee. Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic brunch here, amazingly tasty, not a bit went to waste. Pretty busy little place too as table had a time-limited sitting so clearly a successful and in-demand restaurant. Don’t let that put you off though. Well worth a visit, or two or more...

Honeycomb is a sunny venue for breakfast. The avocado toast came with a perfectly poached egg and a generous portion of avocado. The muesli was also quite good. The coffee is excellent and the cakes were tantalizing (if only we weren't so full!). All of the natural light makes the space very calming and the service was friendly. Though on the more expensive side for breakfast/brunch/lunch, it is well worth it.

We had a late lunch here - you do need to book I think. I had betroot and whipped goats cheese open sandwich which was delicious and my husband had the soup of the day; he really enjoyed it. We completed our meal by sharing a delicious lemon and honeycomb cake with our coffee. Charming service, attentive and quick. Waiter even found the recipe for the dressing on my sandwich.

Met my lovely niece here this week for lunch, and it was amazing - staff great, place great, food was AWESOME ! I had chicken and lentil salad which was absolute perfection - everything else I saw people having looked lovely too, from the soups and the cakes I saw coming out, cant wait to return here, and tell people about it. It was a shame there was a customer in with an annoying little dog that barked and yapped the two hours we were there- maybe dogs should not be welcome unless they are well behaved ? Just a thought, but I loved loved loved the place - thank you so much everyone x

I had been here in July and wasn't very happy, especially in regard to the service. I was very pleasantly surprised when I gave Honeycomb a second chance in November. We came for a late snack around lunch time and I had the salmon sandwich which was very tasty. To go with the coffee I chose a cinnamon Danish and this was absolutely delicious. My friend also really enjoyed her meal. Service was so much better than the first time, totally different servers, which goes to show that you should always give a place a second chance. I'm very glad I did.
