Impeccable food and lovely service! Definitely again!!!!!

Came here twice within 2 weeks :-) Love their prawn tempuras - fresh prawns and the batter was good. Came out hot, and the batter crispy! Had a couple of rolls, sushi and gunkan and were very fresh. Food presentation was good, clean and pretty refined for a sushi joint, in Bath ;-) Service is friendly too. Will definitely return when back in summer! BTW, for those who want to purchase Asian groceries, there is an Asian grocer (Chinese supermarket) next to them too. Good variety!

Wonderful, traditional sushi and bao, lovely little restaurant, although a bit drafty.

Went in for sushi & shasimi for lunch. Rather impressed with the freshness of the dishes.

Always reliable simple space with excellent food. Platters, bento boxes etc; everything is great. They open at 12.00 and on a Saturday the tables fill up quickly. Will keep coming back!

My wife and I dined here on our weekend to Bath. The ambiance was lovely and intimate and the food was delicious. After taking respite from the cold night air and warming ourselves with the miso soups we then enjoyed the soft shell crab and crunch tuna rolls. The service was friendly and quick and the food authentic, tasty and delicious. I would recommend. Thank you Hondo for a lovely evening .

Excellent sushi, friendly and efficient service, good value for money.

Sushi is unmatched in terms of value for money. When ordering a donburi, you receive miso soup, and a side salad which really balances out the flavours.

Be warned - the portions you receive of the high quality dishes can be a lot larger than expected! I've really enjoyed my last two visits to Hondo Sushi. Friendly staff, rapid service and lovely, lovely food. Quality ingredients definitely used and I will return time after time. £13 for an entire Salmon Bento Box? Much better value, larger, healthier and tastier than fast food.

We ordered sushi, sashimi and pork katsu curry rice, food was amazing, but pork too dry and thin. We love sushi and sashimi, overall is good, highly recommended order sushi and sashimi!!

Everything we tried was excellent. I especially enjoyed the heavenly crispy tempura prawns and the 'crazy spicy salmon roll'. Highly recommended.

We have had some tasty food here in the past but last night's meal was very disappointing. The food was good although it arrived in a random order with the main courses before the starters. The service was extremely poor - the two waiting staff were enjoying chatting with each other rather than serving. We had to ask for our drinks after the food had arrived; then beers were brought in the bottles so we had to ask for glasses; then ask for our water. There were only about 8 other people in the restaurant so they should have had time for good service. It felt like they had not been trained at all. Sadly we won't return.

Delicious freshly made food. We were really impressed and have book marked for a future visit. We had a range of starters from soft shelled crab to spring rolls, gyoza and edamame beans. The sushi was extremely generous and delicious. Definitely a place to try.

Quality and tasty Japanese food in the heart of the town. Large offer of dishes, clear menu, kind service. Only atmosphere (particularly lighting) could be improved. Recommended

Wish I could give a higher rating. Not only was the food amazing the service was on another level of brilliance. We went in the evening for dinner and there was only 1 waiter as someone had called in sick. This guy was in 10 different places at once! He did not forget anything and did not make anyone wait! We had better service from this one guy then most pubs manage with an army of staff! Will be back again and again!

Great selection of sushi which was delicious and I loved the chicken karaage. Mouth wateringly delicious in fact. The servers are friendly and want to help but definitely do need training - they don't really seem to know what to do and when - but all are very nice! Go for the food - that's absolutely worth a visit.

Pretty good and legitimate Japanese food! Environment is also good, service isso fast and friendly. Portions are adequate. Vegetarian options available. Don’t forget to look at the Bento Box at the end of the menu! Good cost benefit!

I’ve been here so many times and the food and quality of service is always outstanding. I’ve taken so many people here and they’ve loved it! I especially recommend the donburis :)

Booked in for 6:30pm. Arrived on time and get told at the door there wasn’t a table for us. Suddenly this was all a mix-up and there was a table. We sat down with menus for 25 minutes before our order was taken. Food took an hour and we were short one main course for almost 10 minutes. Food was nice but didn’t live up to the wait. Had to chase again to pay the bill. Our food wasn’t cleared from the table after we finished. No one asked if we wanted more drinks. Especially as our glasses were empty 30 minutes into our wait. There were numerous other issues with waiting times at other tables and numerous mix ups. It really was a shame.

Food okay, not bad .... but I'm not happy the services!! this restaurant look like family business. kids playing with staff, staff talking too lound , talking and laughing and didint look after customers. Give me warm and silent diner pls, I didint enjoy it's !!

Great quality asian food, extremely quick and friendly service. Although it was busy, barely had to wait for food to come out. Lots of seating and great variety for food. Softshell crab tempura and sweet potato croquettes were incredible. Salmon bento was great too. Would definitely recommend going!

The food was incredibly good and the staff very nice! There are many different veggie options. I loved the Tofu Katsu Curry so we decided to come back the following day. I took the Bento box and it was actually the best one i ever had. Very very recommendable!! I will come back for sure if i am in Bath again.

The food was incredible, we went there to eat ramen and they Tasted really good, so we came back on the following day and I tried the Bibimbap which was great too. Literally the ramen were ones of the best i've ever had.

Quick service and food is amazing

I visited Hondo quite regularly for a quick meal. Highly recommended this restaurant if you want a fresh & delicious Japanese food with great selection at an affordable price. I had Salmon Donburi served with Miso Soup and Salad all for £12.80. Trust me, you can’t find this price anywhere in Bath! Only 10-15 mins walk from the Bath Bus Station. Must try!

It might be okay for sushi but it's very far from decent Japanese cuisine otherwise, and I've lived in Toyko for 10 years. We wanted a hot bowl of ramen and got mislead by the reviews of the Tonkotsu ramen (the staff calls it TonkAtsu, which already is a warning sign). It wasn't just bad, it was absolutely inedible - stock powder diluted in milk with some bacon on the side, unwashed clumped together mushy noodles and canned menma from the last century. All this for £13-15 per bowl, absolute disgrace. The agedashi tofu was nice and crispy but the broth part incredibly salty (basically just soy sauce) and the miso aubergine had an overly sweet glaze. The whole restaurant smelled like Chinese food which is understandable given it is a Chinese place attempting to serve Japanese food. Judging by the tofu, I'd say go for their tempura items (difficult to mess frying things up) and probably the sushi is alright, at least it was nicely presented at the tables around us. They also have safe touristy things like packaged frozen gyoza and spring rolls. Just don't go for the other Japanese items on the menu if you're used to an authentic Japanese taste. We couldn't even drink the tap water as it looked murky, so certainly unfiltered, and the bottle wasn't properly washed. Finally, the hallways leading to the bathrooms were incredibly sticky and the whole place just needs a deep clean.

First time going out to eat sushi at a restaurant and it did not disappoint, was greeted really nicely the customer service was on point, you get the food at different times so just wait until everything gets there before eating with friends tho I’m sure you would be able to ask for everything at the same time The presentation was immaculate I will say eating raw fish for the first time was quite strange I recommend if you haven’t eaten raw fish before be prepared for a whole different experience and texture sea bass is the slimiest haha It was amazing other than that and I’m sure if you come here frequently you will get used to eating raw fish

Very tasty sushi. Not the cheapest, but it's possible to save some money by getting the sharing plates. You can be full with around 25-35 pounds per person while eating high quality sushi. Calm and nice place which is right next to a Chinese supermarket. Staff were friendly.

This restaurant serves the best sushi in Bath. We love it and even when we don't eat in we use the take-away service. Highly recommended.

Terrific food, wonderfully presented. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The worst part about eating here is the vast selection means making a choice is really hard! Worth popping in the supermarket the is twinned with the restaurant on your way out also. Will be coming again!

I was three had food in there last weekend to make us diarrhoea at home. I thought the order of oysters set and the salad or sushi contaminated by human hand .

I had a great takeaway chirashi don here. The avocado tempura was oddly bitter, which I didn’t enjoy. But in general, service was great and the food was satisfying.

Small and Nice. Not a fancy place but the experience is good. Food is good but looks like they need at least 2 servers for service. Nothing much to complaint about. As a local, I recommend here for a small sushi experience.

My husband and I ate here today. We found it to be an absolutely fantastic find in the city of Bath. We both love Japanese food and the choice at this restaurant was amazing. There is an extensive menu. We were very impressed with the food and also the lovely service, we received. We will definitely return to eat here again. It was also reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

A reasonable standard of food, slow and disinterested service. Zero atmosphere. Might as well be in a deserted canteen.

It would be a good place for Korean/Japanese cuisine in reasonable price and quality. I ordered Korean style Bibimbap and Vegetable Tempura. The food presentation is ok. The batter of tempura is a bit thick. However, the food portion is generous. In my second visit with friends, they ordered Teriyaki Chicken Bento and Salmon Bowl. They commented that they are quite good.

Sushi is ok, but check your takeaway before accepting it. Mine was missing one item, and the Bento box selection was the wrong one.c disappointing

Amazing food, great service, reasonably priced

The tom yum ramen isn't that authentic, as the broth used mostly coconut cream only. Beef salad is too salty, and the beef is overcooked.

Very disappointing, a forgotten main course which after chasing up was served after everyone else had finished eating. It was served in a very chipped bowl that needed to be binned and the table was cleared around the person eating it. The bento boxes were ok but generally it lacks flavour, charm and attention to detail. Best avoided

Confession time: I've not eaten the more interesting things on the menu. The sushi looks tremendous, served as it is on a selection of plates, tiny wooden bridges and - for the bigger shared platter - an elaborate double shelf structure. Alas, I'm not a big sushi guy. I'm the boring dude who visits a sushi place and orders the chicken katsu curry. Would you trust the restaurant review of such an unrefined palate? It's a damn fine katsu curry, but I'd understand if you ignored my endorsement.

Food was absolutely amazing, I can honestly say it was some of the best food I have ever eaten. Atmosphere was lovely, it's only a small place but well presented. Items were fantastically priced and service was excellent, even though it was a busy Saturday evening. I would give more than five stars if I could!

Waitress was rude and incompetent. Food was poor. I asked what types of fish was in the chirashi don as it wasn’t specified on the menu. First I got time I got a random answer second time she didn’t even answer and walked away. The third time she moaned ‘omg it’s sold out, order another one’. This seemed to be a blatant lie just to get me to stop asking. I then ordered the tuna and salmon don. It wasn’t good. The fish wasn’t fresh and it was sliced paper thin. Will not be coming back here again ever. Also I found it very weird that all the staff in this so called Japanese restaurant were in fact Chinese.

I like Hondo Sushi. I'm aware it's not authentic so the flavours aren't the same. But I've never been to Japan and I honestly don't care even if I had. I have known Hondo Sushi since it opened up, and it's been wonderful to watch it grow from strength to strength. The food is good, i have never had a bad meal there. I like the staff and I like the supermarket so seriously you don't lose much when going. A relaxed affair with some simple food.

The food was delicious, had a few starters and ramen which were all really lovely. The staff were very friendly. Reasonably priced for good quality food. Will definitely go again, highly recommend.

My favorite restaurant in bath without a doubt!! The food is of extremely high quality and the ingredients used are always fresh. The attention to detail and passion that the chefs put is evident in every dish, specially on my personal fav the dinamite roll. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is also fantastic, with friendly staff like Ivan, who is always willing to go above and beyond to make sure we have an enjoyable meal. Overall, I would highly recommend Hondo Sushi to anyone, so go ahead – you won't be disappointed!

Great food and attentive staff, however, the serving of food took quite long. We waited for almost an hour for our food to be served.

I've visited Hondo three times now and have loved it every time. The welcome is great, the surroundings are clean and comfortable. Not a huge place. Simple decor. The staff are polite. Yesterday it was full of Japanese people, always a brilliant sign in my book. We had a lovely Teriyaki Chicken bowl which was delicious. Such good value too.

Was looking for sushi in Bath and found Hondo on Google. What a great find, have been several times since initial visit. Very fresh and super tasty. I'm rubbish with the names so pictures really don't detract from the menu.
