Excellent food Not too busy at the time of eating Fast service

This was the best place to eat I have been to in a long long time. Next to an Asian market where they have literally anything you would want and the restaurant was amazing! Let us take our time ordering because there was so much choice and as the dishes came out one by one both my sister and I were amazed at how much they give you, my favourite by far was the sashimi salad! The best experience 🫶 Also such a cute way of serving hot sake, most places will just heat it up and that’s it!

Awesome flavors, generous portions, friendly service.

The portion of curry laksa is massive and the broth is rich. Dynamite roll is crispy enough with the tempura crust. Staffs there are friendly. Overall, it was a great experience, will be back definitely.

Tempura prawns are not deveined and the batter was soggy. Wine tastes like cheap wine. Sushi was ok pickled ginger was the nicest thing. Disappointed that it was near the nicest hotel but not so nice service and food.

Love Hondo. We eat here quite often. Great Japanese food and friendly service. What’s not to like?

If you want the real deal, you eat here! The truly sumptuous flavours of Asia await. It is unassuming and plain from the outside but inside is a den of delight. I would highly recommend this place.

Restaurant didn't look too nice outside but was pretty decent inside. The food was absolutely amazing.

Great food, good-sized portions and friendly service. However, the table we were seated at was a little dirty (and sticky!). Decor and atmosphere were both bleak. Sadly, it really lacks an aesthetic.

not many places have fried pork cutlet, so I am happy they have it here, the bento portion is big, everything single on the plate is delicious, added a can of coke, total around £20

Hemos comido en este restaurante un par de veces antes de asistir a conciertos en el Foro cercano, y está muy bien ubicado para eso. Volvimos después de haber tomado un descanso después de recibir un mal servicio de personal sin experiencia, pero regresamos el mes pasado para darle otra oportunidad. A mi marido le encantan los currys y yo suelo tener una caja doblada. La comida es fresca, pero el servicio puede ser golpeado y fallado. En esta ocasión mi caja de salmón bento incluía un artículo que era tan grande que era imposible comer con los palillos suministrados, y muy desordenado para comer con los dedos! Era muy diferente de la caja Bento que he tenido antes. Lo que habíamos pedido para nuestros platos principales llegó cuando todavía estábamos comiendo nuestros entrantes que abarrotaban la mesa. Observamos que el restaurante ha ampliado la zona de estar en la parte trasera del edificio. Obviamente es popular y el sushi está altamente valorado. Para mí, falta el ambiente, pero si quieres una comida buena, saludable y fresca, esta sigue siendo una buena opción.

Delicious, portion sizes are generous, we were stuffed and took our leftovers home. Good friendly staff even when we were the only ppl there on a quiet Sunday evening.

Fantastic! The food was lovely and they served the 5 of us relatively quickly with the food out not long after. I had a sashimi box and Takoyaki they were delicious! I highly recommend trying the sushi here if you are a fan of it.

Generic Asian restaurant serving various Asian cuisines. Expected it to be more authentic Japanese due to good reviews but a bit disappointed. The staff were nice though. Ordered some rolls, sushi and Oyako don which is fried chicken on rice. All was mediocre nothing special. Doesn’t feel like the ingredients were high quality and not the it’s cheap either so not worth the value. Wouldn’t go back again.

Sushi was the best I’ve tried - got the crunchy salmon roll 😍 and the prawn and avocado roll. Miso soup was so good as well and prawn tempura. Crispy duck bun was okay. Sushi really did stand out!

El servicio es bueno y el sushi más sabroso que he probado, el tazón de ramen de marisco fue un poco de trabajo apresurado de mi parte. No estaba seguro de cuándo lo pedí, sin embargo era hermoso. Lo que haría por un lugar como este cerca de mí. Muy, muy auténtico.

The best Japanese restaurant in Bath！

I came here to eat with Northeastern Young Marshal. I burst into tears when I ate. It was so fragrant and delicious, and the service was very good.

A very attentive restaurant, the ingredients used in the dishes are very good, and the cuisine is also very rich. The waiter's introduction is very careful and he treats the guests very enthusiastically!

Really good food. They have that sneaky "10% service charge you can totally ask to be removed" but the food was super and we were stuffed after our bento boxes. Would've been 5* if the price was just listed without the trick

I finally got to try the Salmon Belly Don at Hondo Sushi, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations! The salmon belly was incredibly fresh, buttery, and melted in my mouth with every bite. The presentation was beautiful, and the portion size was generous. The balance of flavors in the bowl was perfect, with the rice complementing the richness of the salmon so well. The service was friendly and efficient, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend Hondo Sushi for anyone who loves fresh, high-quality Japanese food. I can’t wait to come back for more!

Fantastic sushi in Bath. We tried the grilled salmon nigiri (so tasty and smoky), spicy edamame (super fresh), chicken gyoza (flavourful and juicy) and crunchy salmon roll (excellent). Service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend a visit!!

The food came 40 mins late, the rice was so mushy, the restaurant had really bad ventilation, there’s no air at all. Would not recommend.

Today was my 12th birthday and I chose my fav restaurant to have a nice meal with my people.Dissapointed. First of all,the food Is good quality,however, our orders were practically ignored and half of the food wasn't delivered after several reminders and had to be cancelled,this included two simple glasses of water that takes 10 seconds to make. Specific requests we asked aswell were also ignored and for the slightly fussier side of us ,made the food Inedible. Asked for bubble tea, only had 1/4 flavours in stock and in which the bubbles were undercooked. To top it off, the staff made up invalid excuses that were clearly impractical. Used to be my fav place to be.Really disappointed and my birthday was quickly turned to ash by this horrible meal.

Food is good, we ordered water didn't get it after 30 minutes, half of our food wasn't ordered and they plainly forgot, bubbles in bubble tea were undercooked , they took half the orders wrong then, they blatantly made up invalid excuses that were clearly made up. This used to be my fav restaurant, now it's my worst. Serious changes needed.

Sushi was incredible here. Very reasonably priced, great speedy service, tasty Japanese beer. I had the kimchi pork bento and it’s the best bento box I’ve had in England, so filling, complete and tasty af. Serious 10/10 place this. Looks a lot better than the photos, they have plenty of seating. The staff are really lovely.

This meal was awful. We had to ask for everything, including chop sticks and glasses for our drinks. The food was tasteless and took a long time to arrive even though it wasn’t busy. The servers were unprofessional and were eating in front of everyone whilst there were jobs to be done. We will not be returning to this restaurant, very disappointing.

Not bad. There's room for improvement. We didn't try the sushi although the tables next to us seemed to enjoy it.

Good food and good service however, the ramen noodles were overcooked. But overall so worth it.

Order the tempura box. The prawn wasn’t great and some of the vegetables were undercooked.

Not a real Japanese restaurant. Messy table setup. Crockery and cutlery clustered all over the table and not properly cleaned. Dishes served slowly in chaotic order. Smelly washrooms. Waitresses happened to be all Chinese, not one Japanese. It was the most unbelievable seeing one of the waitresses unsealed a new bottle of soy sauce with her teeth and served it to other clients. The same waitress first came with 2 glasses of bubble tea that we ordered in different favours. When we asked her which one is which, she said "I don't know, please try out on your own." The milk tea tasted awful. My friends ordered chirashi don. The size of the bowls were normal, but the portion of rice was surprizingly small that just filled 1/3 of the bowls. Sashimi was served warm. I ordered aburi salmon don that came very late after my friends had all finished their meal. The portion was normal but the sauce tasted horrible. I hardly swallowed half of it after putting lots of wasabi and soy sauce to cover the original taste. Not a single picture was taken as the food did not look very nice. The best part was the beer which was a real sapporo. The day trip to Bath was a pleasant one, except the dinner.

Me encanta este lugar y he estado aquí varias veces. El sushi es delicioso. He probado muchos platos, incluyendo el rollo de dragón picante, el rollo de salmón wakame y las bolas de pulpo fritas y nunca he probado nada que fuera delicioso. Los platos salieron en diferentes momentos, pero todavía disfruté mucho. Los platos también están muy bien presentados

Wonderful sushi! Very fresh and prepared to a high standard. Rather more expensive but price/performance is right. At first glance you wouldn't expect it.

Tuna maki’s doesn’t look fresh, they did not brink our drinking order.

We’ve been twice now and loved it both times. The Korean Bibimbap is awesome (as in the video) - so much so that we’ve had it both times along with the Octopus Balls (Takoyaki). Would definitely recommend. The service is great, the atmosphere is good (nothing special), and reasonably priced at about £13 for the bibimbap

Popped in for prawn tempura, maki & salmon ebiko. The freshness of the dishes was impressive.

I’d like to share a review today about my experience in this restaurant, me and my dad went yesterday because we went few weeks prior and really enjoyed the food. However this visit was the worst, I’m gluten free and luckily this place offers gluten free so I ordered exactly what I ordered before ‘chicken fried noodles with chilli’ however when it came I noticed they used wheat noodles, the young waitress gave it to me and I said ‘those noodles aren’t gluten free’ which she replied ‘yes they should be’ I said ‘they are definitely not’ she then went back to go to the chef to have them re-made for me and came back to apologise. At this point I’m waiting a good 10 minutes and dad has almost finished his food so we are not going to end up eating together at this rate…..I went up to the till where she and this other man who worked there was standing and asked for some sort of discount due to the circumstance and she she said yes I’ll give you 30% so I thought that was fair even though I was still very cross with the situation. She then finally brings over my food however no chilli in there, she then says ‘I’ll go get the chilli oil and you can mix it in yourself’ um ok shall I just go to the kitchen put a chefs hat on and cook my own meal considering your incapable of cooking my meal at all?! At this point I was even more angry, anyway I ate it all up after adding the chilli oil myself something I asked them to do! She comes over with the bill, I didn’t notice a much of difference on the bill, I thought she was giving me 30% off! So I asked have you gave me the 30% and she said yes on your meal which was like £3.50 off or something so I basically said only 30% off my meal? I thought it was on the whole bill considering the circumstance so she went to go speak to her boss and she came back saying no I can’t do anything more….At this point my back was up and I said to her you could of made me seriously ill if I ate that meal I deserve more, she went to go get her boss so I could speak to him but in the end didn’t even turn up with him and said yes we can do 30% off the whole bill. This service was absolutely shocking, the fact I get given wheat noodles and I can’t eat gluten but then when I challenge her on it she says no they are gluten free, imagine if I’d ate them another thing is not eating same time with my dad, he’d pretty much finished when mine came out, another thing is me having to add my own chilli oil, another thing just adding 30% on my meal not on the whole bill considering how shocking the service was! I will never be coming here again, I am so dissatisfied! Train your staff to know what food is, if someone is working in hospitality they should understand allergies! You’ll have someone dead there if your not careful!!!

Dinner for four and a great spread of options. Over-ordered a bit which was no bad thing as everything was delicious. The beef, sushi, tempura, miso soup, eel were all great. Quick and friendly service. Not the plushest place but wholly authentic. Highly recommend.

Food was good, very tasty, and freshly cooked. Food is generous, if you have a big appetite you may need to order Xtra. Not too expensive, but a meal for any budget. Drinks are priced similarly to other eating places. Menu added to help with understanding prices. Plenty of space, tables space between others generous. Accessibility for all patrons. Will return if in Bath Location good, not noisy from traffic. The staff serving were happy and friendly. Helpful in their own way.

OK, but it could do better. Service wasn't great although staff were nice. We had gyoza and soft shell crab, which were good. My main arrived, but then my husband's ramen didn't. We had to ask where it was. My husband said my ramen was a lot better than theres. My main was OK. We asked for the bill and she forgot it so had to ask again.

Very nice food. I had a sashimi set, a temaki and ikura. All was very fresh. Our daughter enjoyed her tempura and salmon maki. Very nice and kind service

We were looking for a quick, light meal in the central area. This restaurant had exactly what we wanted and we happily ate our way through a large 'boat' of very fresh sashimi with a couple of other dishes. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, their smiles enhanced our evening. If I'm being picky the tempura batter was slightly on the heavy side but otherwise no complaints at all.

Whilst visiting bath to take a freind to hospital, i popped in for a quick lunch on my own. Was greeted warmly by the young man on front of house and was served the most delicious and fresh sashimi and tempura soft shell crab. I will most definitely be back.

Came here twice within 2 weeks :-) Love their prawn tempuras - fresh prawns and the batter was good. Came out hot, and the batter crispy! Had a couple of rolls, sushi and gunkan and were very fresh. Food presentation was good, clean and pretty refined for a sushi joint, in Bath ;-) Service is friendly too. Will definitely return when back in summer! BTW, for those who want to purchase Asian groceries, there is an Asian grocer (Chinese supermarket) next to them too. Good variety!

Always reliable simple space with excellent food. Platters, bento boxes etc; everything is great. They open at 12.00 and on a Saturday the tables fill up quickly. Will keep coming back!

My wife and I dined here on our weekend to Bath. The ambiance was lovely and intimate and the food was delicious. After taking respite from the cold night air and warming ourselves with the miso soups we then enjoyed the soft shell crab and crunch tuna rolls. The service was friendly and quick and the food authentic, tasty and delicious. I would recommend. Thank you Hondo for a lovely evening .

Excellent sushi, friendly and efficient service, good value for money.

Sushi is unmatched in terms of value for money. When ordering a donburi, you receive miso soup, and a side salad which really balances out the flavours.

Be warned - the portions you receive of the high quality dishes can be a lot larger than expected! I've really enjoyed my last two visits to Hondo Sushi. Friendly staff, rapid service and lovely, lovely food. Quality ingredients definitely used and I will return time after time. £13 for an entire Salmon Bento Box? Much better value, larger, healthier and tastier than fast food.

We ordered sushi, sashimi and pork katsu curry rice, food was amazing, but pork too dry and thin. We love sushi and sashimi, overall is good, highly recommended order sushi and sashimi!!

Everything we tried was excellent. I especially enjoyed the heavenly crispy tempura prawns and the 'crazy spicy salmon roll'. Highly recommended.

We have had some tasty food here in the past but last night's meal was very disappointing. The food was good although it arrived in a random order with the main courses before the starters. The service was extremely poor - the two waiting staff were enjoying chatting with each other rather than serving. We had to ask for our drinks after the food had arrived; then beers were brought in the bottles so we had to ask for glasses; then ask for our water. There were only about 8 other people in the restaurant so they should have had time for good service. It felt like they had not been trained at all. Sadly we won't return.
