Holy Cow - Fine Indian Food - Indian Takeaway in Hammersmith, London in Hammersmith and Fulham

Purchased food directly from the shop. I saw all the chefs working hard. The food was absolutely divine. I usually find lamb is usually chewy and not done to my taste, but at this place my lamb was perfect. I understand why this is a dearer priced restaurant. Worth every penny.

Amazing food with quick delivery....

Not all the Holy Cow Indian restaurants are made the same! I’m writing this review based on the Hammersmith Holy Cow Indian restaurant. The BEST Chef and Staff compared to Holy Cow’s South of the river from me. I tried the one toward Richmond and the dishes I get regularly from the Hammersmith HC wasn’t as good from there. I fully recommend the Lamb Bhuna - Lamb is tender and the spices are just the right heat. Onion Pakoras are great here too. They were dry at the other restaurant I ordered from which is why I keep coming back to HC in H’smith. The food is constantly excellent every time! As you can see I’ve added a picture of a finished carton of curry. I had requested through the Ubereats app to the Chefs/Staff if they didn’t mind changing the chicken in the Chicken Dhansak for King Prawns instead and not only did they do that, and I don’t think they even charged me extra which even if a one-off was a really lovely thing to do, but they also left a little smiley face on the carton which made me smile :) Hiw lovely that communication made me feel 🙏❤️ Service with a smile and soul food to die for, what more could you want! Holy Cow in Hammersmith has been my restaurant go to for authentic Indian food for a year now. So I’m not writing this review because of a one off kind gesture, this is my constant so it’s about time I have these good people a review that reflects their high standards - it many restaurants are high standard imo anymore. They dumb down and out in cheap ingredients, but this food is cooked with real love, and they know people/customers are aware of that. So when it’s deserved I write it… Just to mention some of the menu items I’d recommend (I like curry to be spicy but not burn your mouth of kinda heat) I’ve also had in the past their king Prawn Saag - delicious. Also recommend the K Prawn Saliza and the K Prawn Patia, really REALLY GOOD! But I’m a huge fan of Dhansak and not many restaurants in London properly make this - a balance of sweet, sour, hot and spice. Holy Cow you surpassed yourselves on that dish, I’ve ordered quite a few disappointments from various other restaurants on that one! That the Staff did that smiley on the takeaway carton just warms me to this place even more. Looking forward to dining in the restaurant at some point but for now, as I work hard all week it’s great to know I can get home, relax and know that such good food is going to be cooked and come to my door. We placed A Deliveroo order, the food was tasteless, Biryani is the worst I ever had, Lamb was undercooked and chewy,, Daal was awful too, no authentic taste, just a horrible experience, never again

We loved our holycow mains which were amazing with lots of flavour, very impressive for a indian food restaurant.

I love the food, to be honest. But my last order was a bit of a disaster in terms of delivery. Around 6pm, I placed an order for delivery at 9.15pm, so plenty of time to organise this. 10pm and I still had not received the food. Food arrived all cold, and customer service said there was nothing they could have done. A bit sad that a delivery only place cannot fulfil it's delivery commitments.

My experience ordering takeaway from this restaurant was extremely disappointing. Both the lamb tikka and chicken were tough and chewy; I couldn't even tell if it was really lamb! Surprisingly, the sauces in both curries tasted identical, almost as if they used the same base with different meats added. The mango chutney had an off taste. The only saving grace was the peshwari naan, which was quite enjoyable. However, the entire meal cost me a staggering £45, which felt like adding insult to injury. I would strongly advise avoiding this place altogether.

Worst Indian take away ever. Popadoms was stale and the food is in a microwaveable container with a sealed on plastic cover like a microwaved meal. The butter chicken tasted like pasta sauce and chicken and the keema naan bread was soggy and cold. Horrible huge chuncks of chicken in the curry too. Will never buy this again. Don’t buy this

We have it by delivery. The delivery is fast, and food meets our expectations. Very tasty. Peshwari nann is my favorite. The delivery box is very solid with a film to make sure no sauce slipped.

I ordered two dishes - both disappointing. No flavour, only chilli. Lamb biryani had barely any meat. 2 stars because they gave poppadoms which was nice.

Takeaway chicken korma bland ..lucky I had korma paste curry powders and fresh corriander indoors to beef it up .was ..big portion..I suspect the naan breads are shop bought ..n warmed up ..they are paper thin ..I buy 3 in a pack from an Indian shop exactly the same pk of 3 ..£2.95.. naan breads normally fluffy and thick ...can't upload photo of shop bought paper thin naan bread thin n crispy and could snap in half

I ordered this last night all I could taste was anacide it was horrible I did not enjoy my food atall Uber eats wouldn’t even give me a refund the korma was flavourless I didn’t eat all my food left a lot of it it looked like it was bought in a shop and heated up the peshwari Nan again tasted like anacide just so over powering it made me so ill not sure if food was cooked properly I was up all night being sick and bad belly honestly I’ve had better

First time ordering and unfortunately we won’t be doing it again. We ordered two different curries, one of them was missing (delivery company refunded). Poppadoms were stale, the sauces had spilled everywhere in the bag and the roti was the hardest one I’ve ever tried. A frisbee would have been nicer to eat. Sad because we were really looking forward to it as we’ve passed by plenty of times and it looks really nice. Disappointing is an understatement.

It’s great found but prepare to wait. We are loyal customers but today we waited 2,5 hours and they were unreachable !!! Not ok holy cow Hammersmith

This is by far the best Indian food from a takeaway/restaurant that I have ever had! This is coming from an Asian person who knows this cuisine since birth. I am astounded by the quality of the food. This is better than high end restaurants like Dishoom. The quality of meat (both lamb and chicken) is amazing. I’ve tried and tested like 15-20 dishes from here and I can honestly say i have thoroughly enjoyed every single one. I have very rarely been this impressed by something I’ve ordered. I wish I had taken some pictures of the dishes before I had demolished all of them! P.S the butter chicken is on steroids! The amount of chicken is immense.

Food tasted good and was packaged nicely

Delicious no-frills, well seasoned, fresh and decent portion sized Indian food. We tried their butter chicken, murg masala and murg malayalam recently as our first time having recommended this Takeaway from a local friend in the area and we were all happy with our choices for dinner! We look forward to ordering again soon.

Unfortunately, the dish I had was tasteless. Just random spices throw together and not the rights ones for that dish. We asked for lamb biryani, but we got chicken. Good size portions

Not authentic tasting. The flavour was poor like an immitation of the real thing. My guess is that the food is cooked, then chilled for days then reheated which explains the poot taste. The food comes in a chilled type packaging like microwave food from a supermarket. The food may not be cooked at the restaurant, but bought in or precooked and left in refridgeration unit. The okra was minced into tiny pieces and watery, barely any sign of a piece of okra. The lentils were more a soup consistency and again the flavours were not there at all. The potion sizes were diabolically small. I had to mix the okra with the lentil to make up the portion size and these were both main meals. The naan was rough and dry. Was disappointed and won't be ordering again. I believe the good reviews are totally fake ESPECIALLY on Deliveroo and Just eat. Where I found them

One curry was stone cold, the other was just about warm enough to eat. No response to complaint. Avoid

The food was under cooked and aloos were really hard. The saag was raw and there was hardly any gravy. Overall a really bad experience.

Have been ordering from Holy Cow Kilburn for a few years and was delighted to discover that they have a Hammersmith branch following my move! Absolutely delicious, and my go-to Indian takeaway. Does take a little time as they use their own drivers but it’s always been worth the wait. To quote one of my friends post-delivery: “this is the best rogan josh I’ve ever had”

Truly truly awful. I placed a delivery order and it never turned up and the experience reminded me this has happened before with this business. First I phoned to chase the order when it was half an hour late, and was told it had been despatched - and the guy put the phone down on me. Then I phoned again after 20 minutes and eventually was told there had been no order. This was at 9pm on a Friday - so thanks very much for ruining my evening. Also told that I needed to contact Deliveroo, who were equally useless and disinterested. Remarkable that in 2022 you can’t place and have confidence in a simple takeaway/delivery from a chain of takeaway/delivery restaurants which has a branch in my borough. I won’t be making the same mistake again.

I usually get delivery from here, portion were small and bit expensive comparatively but worth because the nice and brilliant taste should be exactly that portion size, so that I got maximum cherish from that food and why not pay more, if you can’t get that taste anywhere else and got optimum satisfaction

Was a bit disappointed, got 2 curries and the sauce was good flavour, but meat was tough. portions were small but it was expensive. Couldn't eat the peshwari naan it had very strange strong flavour.

I had a very good take away from here recently. Quick service and very nice food.

I have used this place for deliveries and take outs for years and have never had a complaint. Whilst not cheap I believe generally you get what you pay for and the food from here is always excellent, piping hot and on time. The 'hot' dishes are nicely spiced and the lamb samosas a personal favourite, really spicy. Highly recommended.

What a joke. Reviews say its the best tasting food around. However the portion sizes are a joke. £12 for 3 pieces of lamb in sauce. £11 for five pieces of cheese. Etc etc etc If your hungry shop else where. I spent over £45 and got a curry for one.

I love their chicken masala and lamb bhuna. Must try. All the staff and specially their head chef is very talented and make perfect curries, just taste like home. Loved it.

Tried to order as I had in other cases. I phoned beforehand to check that the dishes didn't contain any dairy as one person in my family has an allergy. I guess they were busy or didn't care as the response I got was that all their dishes had dairy.

The best curry I ever had. Since July we regularly order it twice or three times a month from Hammersmith. We never been disappointed. Highly recommend paneer nawabi and tarka daal!

Don’t think the manager/chef knows anything about manners when approaching a customer. Zero customer service and I’m glad I went to another place!

First time ordering from Holy Cow last night and it was excellent. Best I've tried in the area and potentially London as a whole. I generally find the London takeaways to be subpar but this was excellent. Arrived in 30 minutes and was hot and delicious. Thoroughly recommend the onion pakoras, chicken dansak and saag paneer.

The whole meal tasted of salt.. lots of salt. Unbelievable how hard it was to eat. Woke up dehydrated was so salty. Worst curry of my life and by far the most expensive. Do not trust them must be false reviews it was so bad couldn't tast past the salt on 3 dishes mouth still stinging from the salt so poor. Never again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT... THERE ARE BETTER OPTIONS OUT THERE! One night, we treated ourselves to a take away from Just Eat (#897646833). Holy Cow looked to be a good choice on paper. In short, the food was over 1 hour late, the quality was especailly underwhelming for the price we paid and the service was awful. Still to this day, I am chasing the restuarant for a full refund. Minutes after placing the order via Just Eat, we recieved a notification to say that the food was going to be 45 mins late. Already a red flag as we wouldn't have placed the order, having known this beforehand. Poorly managed expectations if you ask me (so red flag no.2). After waiting 45 mins, we tried calling the front desk a few times, but to no avail. We'll give them the benefit of doubt here, as they might just be really busy... But by the 5th time, someone finally picked up and basically just asked us to wait another 10-15 mins (red flag no.3). By 15 mins we called the restaruant another 6 times and when they finally picked up I was already peeved. I kindly asked how much longer it was going to take but they hadn't a clue. I then asked for the driver's phone number so I could find out how far away they were or whether I could help with directions - no budge there either (red flag no.4). Over 1 hour later from when we placed the order, eventually the driver shows up and after I frantically waved them down. I had previously seen the same driver going up and down the main road a few times, so my spidey senses were tingling (red flag no.5). Went back upstairs after standing outside in the cold for ages and shortly realised the food was overcooked and tasteless. I wouln't even feed that to a dog, let alone, paying customers (red flag no.6). I reported this back to the restaurant and they just redirected me to Just Eat instead (red flag no. 7). However, after reporting the issue to Just Eat numerous times and with no response through all the various sh***y communciation channels they have, I finally get through to someone 6 days later, who then proceeds to tell me that they can only partially refund me, due to their 48hr policy (RED FLAG NO. F******* 8). To conclude, we will never order from this restaurant again or from Just Eat again. I wish there was an option for minus stars.

My husband and I have never been disappointed with our orders, this is our absolute favourite take away by far. Totally delicious. Amazed by the bad reviews it's like they are talking about a different place.

TERRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT ORDER. We’ve been let down a few times. Last order we waited 2.5 hours, called 3 times and were told it was on its way (it wasn’t). Finally had to microwave a cold curry when it arrived. Called to complain and the staff didn’t even apologise. Really disappointing.

Food was nice but nothing is worth waiting 1 and a half hours for! Pathetic, and on a thursday. I could've walked to go and get it and would've been quicker and I live 2 miles away. They will be going out of business very soon If they keep these same standards.

Been using Holy cow on and off for years now, the last few times over the last few months the onion bhaji are dry and over cooked, the vindaloo is mild with more lumps of potatoes than chicken and also dry, naan breads are cold and over the last couple of years the same meal I normally have has shot up in price from £18 to £25 this used to be a fantastic takeaway but must of changed chefs or management because I can see it go slowly down hill.

The samosas are legit like my nan made them, thin crispy and light. The other dishes great too and delivered within 20 mins to shepherds bush

DO NOT USE!! Absolutely appalling on every level!! The total time for the food to arrive was 2.5 hours, food had to be sent back as it was inedible due to the bones, the staff argued that there were no bones whilst having 14 in front of me! Another hour to send a replacement dish out in which case the entire meal was stone cold, called up to demand a refund to be horrifically insulted, placed on “hold” to then listen to the staff make negative and derogatory comments thinking I couldn’t hear. The the “manager” argued that it was acceptable to take over £40 of our money to make us wait 2.5hrs and then be insulted because we stated this was unacceptable, have the phone put down on us several times and then be told the “manager” is not able to issue a refund! This used to be a good place to order from but now has been appalling on the last few orders. I would avoid using as they will serve whatever they want, whenever they want and not give any compensation in response to a complaint! Truly disgraceful to once loyal clients I will never use again and will further this to the regulators of the food industry. UPDATE - obviously the kitchen weren’t happy about having to send a replacement dish and so whatever was in that dish has my stomach in cramps and unable to move from the bathroom the following day - I think I have food poisoning.

The best Indian for sure- nobody else is close. I have ordered over 10 times and the food/ delivery service has been 100% consistent. Great food/ amazing quality every time, very good value for money overall. Food is better than Dishoom is my opinion. I’m a big fan. Thank you!

We ordered a takeaway from this restaurant. We had the menu for a long time without trying it. Now it will be a regular. We ordered King Prawn Jafrani and Murg Masala with Kbuli mushroom and pilau rice. All dishes were full of flavour with a spicy but not too hot sauce. The mushrooms were delicious and full of flavour. I ordered a garlic naan which was full of lovely garlic flavour and fennel seeds on top. Generous portions. 4 free poppadoms which melted in your mouth. Had to wait a while for delivery but it was fresh and hot. Recommended.

Read the comments and had mixed feelings, but decided to try....and not worth the money. Ordered the chicken Murg Jaiselmer, chicken was dry and sauce too thick to compensate that, flavour okish, but had much much better! The best was the Naan, but it’s difficult to go wrong on that one. Won’t order again, sorry. :(

Incompetent Kitchen, Zero customer service... Order elsewhere! We couldn't eat any of the dishes other than the rice and poppadoms due to them being over spiced. Happy to eat spicy food but this was in edible, even the naan bread was spicy! We called to explain (mainly to stop anyone else having terrible food delivered as this was clearly an oversight) to be told rudely that the dishes were cooked in line with their recipes. Despite repeatedly saying that we order regularly from them and that this needed to be rectified there was zero care from the various people who the phone was handed around to. Competitive market for Indian deliveries so order from anywhere else if you want to enjoy your meal! These guys just lost loyal customers who have recommended this place for years, never again. Disgraceful!!! Wouldn't have given one star but there is no lower option.

The food was delivered almost an hour late with no apology by a very small creature in helmet. I had phoned them but due to utter incomprehensibility had to get Just Eat to try for me. As for the food, well, the black dahl was swimming in cream, the chicken kebabs were ok but very salty, and the biryani was not too bad as the lamb had been well cooked. The accompaniment of veg curry was basically yellow lentils and pretty tasteless. Definitely not the best in town. Shall not use again.

1 hour 15 minutes for a delivery of tepid food. Will never use again. My own laziness the shop is 10 minutes walk. Could have got there and back faster.

Excellent food at a reasonable price, free delivery, cleanly packaged and easy to order on their website. Order directly with Holy Cow because Deliveroo take 20% commission from the vendor which seems very unfair!

Excellent Indian with proper spices and lovely fragrant flavours. Not sure where the food related 1 star reviews are coming from, although delivery does take a while.

Got food poisoning. Was a favourite Indian takeaway for last few years however the last 4 takeaways it's been a disaster with waiting long periods (60 mins +) to recieve delivery, arriving cold multiple times and now food poisoning.

It took 1h30 to get the food and the food was just average.

Saturday evening delivery came in 45 minutes and it was delicious resonable prices, everything was warm and ready to eat no errors and we got complementary sauces and papadoms!!!

Our family have had nothing but excellent food and service from the King Street W6 branch of Holy Cow. Last night's meal was no exception.

Appalling service. I specifically requested a non-spicy dish and I was delivered a dish so hot I could not even eat it. I called them and they didn't even apologise and told me that the dish was not spicy. Very dishonest.

Our delivery took 90 minutes and when it arrived the box was full of broken packages and all the sauce had poured to the bottom of the box and dripped over our staircase. We couldn't eat the food as it sat in an oozing gloop in the box. We called to complain and were told the manager would call back. He didn't. I emailed and called again. Nothing. Steer well clear of this place. Badly run, no customer service, inedible food, packaging doesn't work. Very, very disappointing.
