Prawns were mushy. Chicken awful.

The korma was just ok. The food came really quickly so can’t fault that at all, and the peshwari naan was delicious. But the korma lacked taste. I know a korma isn’t for everyone but I’m used to them being really flavourful and creamy from takeaways and this was a bit more of a supermarket korma taste. Just not my favourite. I did really appreciate the free popadoms though.

I am very happy with the fish meal on Holly Cow. We love it.

Just received a take away from Holy Cow Balham where we have ordered many times before . So disappointed all food was cold .Not acceptable at these prices and we order from them expecting quality.

Surprised to see so many inconsistent reviews here. I’ve ordered from Holy Cow Balham over 30-40 times, I reckon I’ve been mildly disappointed 1-2 times, all others have been fantastic, it’s why I keep going back. Tip: order directly on the website.

The staff were really friendly. I was offered some free papadoms during my waiting period as well. The food was really good. I highly suggest you to try the food if you are thinking about giving a try.

I am so disappointed and wish I had listened to recent reviews. This used to be my favourite Indian takeaway but they must have changed chef or recipe but all the food I ordered tasted horrible. Particularly the Murg Masala which used to be delicious. Such a shame!

Ordered a delivery and was given the option to pay by cash. Driver turns up with zero change & I ended up having to go a shop nearby to get change. The container of food was half full and even the small tub of mango chutney was half full! Consistently awful now so will avoiding this place

One of the best take outs I’ve had in a long long time. After a long flight back to Blighty, I needed some great food and movie time. Holy Cow Balham certainly smashed it out of the park! The food was fresh, great portion sizes, and a quick delivery too. Will be back! Ordered - lamb samosas - so good!!! Butter chicken - with lots of chicken and good sauce ratio! (Very important)

Used to swear by Holy Cow and recommend to everyone a few years ago, however sadly something has changed over the last year or so - I'm not sure if there was a change of management or chef. The last 2 times I've ordered it has taken over 2 hours for the food to arrive, often arriving cold. Putting that aside, the quality of the food has also decreased. Don't get me wrong, it's alright (which is why I'm giving a 2 not a 1), but its just pretty average now, when it used to be exceptional. Unfortunately, I think I'll be ordering from elsewhere in future as there are other local places which are offering better and quicker service.

Awful! Genuinely guys DO NOT order from here. They used to be great but over the last year they’ve just gone south. The last 4 times we’ve ordered from them they’ve not sent items or sent the wrong ones. And then when I went in to get the right items I was verbally abused by a middle aged woman behind the desk. The food itself has also deteriorated and as other comments say, is now bland and small portions!! We’re never going to them again. Please choose somewhere else! (holy cow don’t bother replying to this message with some made up story about ‘we take complaints seriously blah blah, you’re just awful)

Waited more than 2 hours for the delivery. It was cold when the food arrived. We went to bed very disappointed and hungry! Called several times different excuses each time. Will avoid in future. Shame as we use to order from here a lot. Will not order again. Very unhappy.

Last two times ordered from here had serious case of food poisoning. Never again.

They forgot to include naan that I ordered

Chicken korma was horrible. Chicken dry. Onion bhajis fine with mint yog. Garlic Naan bread was not nice at all.

Holy Cow use to do amazing currey. The meal we had tonight was completely tasteless, we had a terrible experience at the Battersea branch but hoped this Balham brunch would be up to its previous standard. Sadly it was just as tasteless, we will not be going here again. Such a shame.

If I wanted cold food and missing items and would have put that on the order. Really dumb.

Ordered from these guys a couple of times before but this time was terrible. Not only did the food take an hour and a half to arrive but the food was cold.. the Naan soggy and the portion sizes seem to have halved from two weeks ago!

Mixed up my drink order. I ordered a cobra beer and got a Coca Cola delivered instead. Disappointing!

We tried this place a few days ago for delivery and the quality of food was excellent. It should be much higher rated on Google. The meat was cooked perfectly and there was plenty of it. The curry was delicious. Thanks

Ordered two biriyani’s but what was delivered was far far from what a Biriyani should taste. It was more like pilau rice. The food was bland, rice was not fully cooked - was partially hard and utterly flavourless. First time ordering from here and never again. Sorry to say, but it It was bland and tasteless.

Take away: food arrived cold, in terrible packaging and was bland. No aromatic spices or richness to the sauce. Felt like a tesco ready meal. Would not order again.

Ordered online through the Holy Cow website, waited for an hour and the order page updated that my food had been delivered, but nothing arrived. Ordered from this place before without issue, so not sure what went wrong this time. It seems impossible to get in touch with them though as the phone number isn't answered and the online ordering service goes to a no reply email. I want my money back!

The food is great I love the food but one thing I got a problem with is the chef he is proper rude I first saw him in battersea he tall now he been in Balham for the last 2 Mondays

Had been intending to order from here for a while. Curry was utterly tasteless and so disappointing. 1 star instead of zero since pappadums were free.

We tried 4 dishes and various side dishes, everything was delicious!

Portion sizes have got much smaller recently, meaning you’re left with about two thirds the food you’d have got before. Including naan about half the size. Poor.

Tried the tikk curry and rice and chickn byriani with poppadoms and shell shaped somsas was delivered delish I'm trying to be a better raw vegan but found this last lovely place this place is nice quality and original portion sizes :)

I ordered through uber and asked for no spicy, and the food came extremely extremely spicy. I love spicy food but i have a problem with it and get very bad stomach crisis. This was not even mildly, it was unbearably spicy... the food from this place is probably good but please, listen to your costumers health requirements!

Food was ok, not amazing but not bad. The naan bread was a bit soggy which was disappointing.

Terrible! I ordered delivery a few weeks ago from the Balham’s branch. Food was 45 mins late, items missing and they sent meat curry even though I ordered veggie dishes (I’m a vegetarian so I couldn’t eat the food). When we phoned they said they couldn’t re send it as they were busy, and said I would get a full refund. It’s been weeks and still no refund- I’ve called multiple times and left messages with promises that the manager would phone me back and still no response. Absolutely terrible customer service and very disappointing. Dont bother!

Ordered via deliveroo. Waited over an hour. Called and they said it was out for delivery. Called again and they said actually they weren't going to deliver it. Awful. Avoid.

Love the plant based menu. The vegan tikka and biriyani is to die for and the samosas are delicious. This is my new regular.

Particularly average on all counts - we’ve used them in the past but would say things are worse that previously (which already wasn’t great). The chicken and kebab starters were pretty awful, particularly the former, and the mains lacked any real taste. Certainly not a disaster/just about ticks off the basics, but really not as good as it should be and far inferior to the excellent Balham Social nearby.

Holy Cow is our favourite to takeaway the Indian food in around the Balham area. We have been an usual customer and we love the fresh and delicious food we get delivered in every order. Service and the quality of the food is top-notch!!!

Feel hugely lucky to have this as my local Indian takeaway - the food is ALWAYS super delicious! It’s difficult to deviate from our usual order - the paneer nawabi is out of this world - but I appreciate that their menu features some dishes that are a bit different from usual curry house fare. Vegetarian options in particular are plentiful! Our order always arrives promptly and piping hot; could not recommend these guys any more highly *****

Excellent Indian food! One of the best takeaways we've had in the area. The Murg Bhuna was delicious: perfectly cooked chicken with a delicately spiced sauce. The King Prawn Jafrani was also excellent and reminded us of the prawns we enjoyed on our recent adventure to India. Free poppadoms were a nice touch. We hope to visit the restaurant soon.

This place is fantastic. It's a shame there are so many bad reviews which are all basically about delivery - that isn't the restaurant's fault. We ordered directly from them (NOT Deliveroo!) and it came in about half an hour, order all correct, very hot and ready to eat. Food was delicious and so fresh! King prawns were lovely and meaty and had been tandoor cooked. Chicken was really good quality meat. Free poppadoms. We'll definitely order from here again.

A great place for Indian take away. We tried onion bhajees, grilled chicken, samosas and a curry. All good. Many restaurants around Tooting can only dream of such quality. We even got free poppadoms and dips. All this in 20 minutes. Yes it’s a bit of a factory, but that’s the deal with a take away place. I really don’t get the negative reviews. Please ignore all the 1 star reviews complaining about wrong orders and damaged goods. It’s the delivery company’s problem. Best solution is to get it yourself. These reviews should be removed. Don’t get the one review about having Nepalese cooks. First I don’t know how you distinguish Northern Indians from Nepalese. Second, do you have to be Indian to cook Indian food.

1st time ordering. Always a worry however good was fantastic. Only place I know that does a sauce with the biryani and the quality is superb.

I think it depends on who's cooking with Holy Cow, sometimes it's excellent other times it's average.

It’s the best Indian take away in Balham. And we’ve tried most of them

This would be up in my top 5 worse experience of service from a restaurant. We had a family gathering to celebrate not seing our parents for 8 months due to C. Placed an order on Deliveroo worth over £120. 45 minutes later a rider comes with a bag with one item and a wrong name. As a restaurant owner myself - its the restaurant's duty to check the order number correlates to the correct Deliveroo rider. Any way, I called the restaurant after we sent the driver on his way, to tell them about this mistake. ZERO accountability. They told us to call Deliveroo... by that time on the app it showed our order has arrived, yet when we claimed that we got nothing both deliveroo and the restaurant said the rider could not find the address and therefore no refund would be issued. We rssorted to going to the restaurant physically to try and sort it out and basically got a rude and un co operating attitude. After 4 emails and 1 hour on live chat Deliveroo agreed to refund us, and we put some real cows on the BBQ and saved the eveing. 2 hours of wasted time, lazy attitude from the restaurant who chose to partner with Deliveroo. Never to return again.

I've been meaning to write this review for quite some time! We always order Holy Cow take-away for ages now, and we absolutely love it. Every time we order at least one new dish and it is always delicious. Always arrives quickly and everything is hot. Our favourite order-in meal 😋

Our fav Indian place for take away. Tasty, portions are ok, a bit more expensive than some others but quality is better. Food is never drown in oil. Lamb rogan josh is just melting in your mouth. Always put some some freebies.

We've had a lot of local curriers and Holy Cow is the best (maybe equalled by Dishoom at twice the price via Deliveroo). Consistently good, quality food and lots of meat. Tastes very clean and full of flavour. And after over a year of ordering via Deliveroo, we tonight realised we can order from their website for 20% less. Game changer!

Our go to Indian takeaway place. The food is always delicious and delivery is usually early when ordering directly from the restaurant.

Good with room for improvement?

Good food, that arrived cold two hours after we ordered. They obviously take on too much at peak times, which is a shame.

So, here's the review. It took one hour 15 minutes to arrive and I called twice to check it was coming at all. It arrived in sealed packages and looked great. It was cold. Not even warm. Cold. It tasted as good as it possibly could for cold indian food. Fresh and no grease at all, but cold. I live in Tooting and it was a rogue choice to venture to other indian restaurants when we have Lahore and mirch masala. Will I order again? Sit down yes, take away, no. What's the point in ordering take away if you have to heat it up in the oven?

Awful, taste-less. Its expensive for what it is. its like a curry out of Iceland freezer.

Flavourless food and tastes store bought. Waste of money

This is not your run of the mill Indian takeaway, it's home fine dinning. We just had an amazing meal, all of the dishes brimming with fresh ingredients, spices and proper cuts of meat. If any doubt of this, stick your head in the door at Balham and you'll see them cooking it fresh. Well done team, see you soon.

Myself and my partner planned to stay in and order a ruby Murray. We placed the order, paid and then received a phone call from a woman moaning and arguing down the phone about us not giving a house number. (even though our house doesn't have a number) apparently we were wasting her time and all in all it was just completely shocking. I can only imagine that the said woman must have been mrs cow.

This is by far my favourite Indian takeaway and possibly the best curry and poppadoms I have ever had (I have tried most of their menu). The service is quick and seamless - I always collect, the food is ready and well packaged before I arrive and I never had problems with my order. Highly recommended!
