Lovely authentic Vietnamese. We shared loads of starters (the papaya salad was so good) and then had the pho which was tasty and a very generous portion.

Ordered sour fish soup from the original shop - Mien Tay. I got an order from a restaurant called SongHong. It’s easy to know they changed ownership. The soup tastes salty only. No other flavour. The soup was below average at best. Please change your name on Uber.

I’m coeliac and they brought a dish with gluten in it. When questioned the waitress threw a hissy fit and tried to turn it on us. Very unimpressed. Used to be a regular here. Won’t be coming back. Stomach feels awful now.

Have been coming here for years. The service is often brusque but if you don't mind about that (as I don't) the food is top notch, and pretty fairly priced. My personal favourites are the goat galangal curry, whole fried seabass with lemongrass and ginger, and the papaya salad. Their signature dish, the chargrilled quail, is also worth checking out.

Noodle soup broths are super tasty, leaves chain Vietnamese in the dust! The beef was also very flavoursome, tastes actually like beef but very tender. Deep fried seabass with ginger was sublime, the crunchy fins are the best bit - I would go back just for that!

Loved itttt just came back from Vietnam and tasted the same as it did over there if not better!! The decor is top tier aswell this is how my table looked

A good but not great pick up of a banh mi, filled a hole but was a bit mediocre in each element. Friendly service with some charm.

If you live in the area, I would recommended as a comfort spot. They serve quickly, nice service and atmosphere, affordable and the food tastes good.

Wonderful noodle soup with plenty of herbs to go with it, like in Vietnam. I tried the spicy alternative to the classic Pho and it was amazing, just the right amount of spice and very tasty broth.

One of the best Vietnamese food in entire London. Fresh ingredients, authentic and tasty food. Place can improve tho. As it gets steamy, menus and tables are greasy most of the time. They used to not take card payments or service fee. I realised they started taking card payments but also charging service fee. It’s not cheap but the food is definitely worth it

I take no joy leaving a 1 star review for any restaurant. But this was really not good. We ordered vegan and got 2 massive bowls with big chunks of undissolved stock cubes that had no resemblance to a pho whatsoever. Really disappointed. If you can't do vegan don't do it and don't offer it.

I have been coming here for quite a few years now and feel it's time to write a review. My friends and I who live in and near london and meet here around twice a year. It's not a fancy restaurant and we like it that way. The food never disappoints and if anything, I think it has improved. The flavours feel very authentic. We always go for summer rolls, mushroom pancakes, a variation of the noodle soups and the curry. Looking around last night I'd love to try other dishes (the stuffed aubergine looked delicious) but I can't resist the spicy pho! It's just too good. Lovely service as well. They have also started accepting cards.

The change it ownership has transformed the place for the worse. Food is nothing at all like it used to be, very bad quality. Will not be coming back

A delightful culinary escapade, from the quirky decor that sets a lively ambiance to the mouthwatering dishes that transport you straight to Vietnam, this place has it all! Their pho is a flavour explosion and their crispy spring rolls are so addictive, you'll want to order more. The service is quick and attentive, albeit a bit too friendly at times.

tofu pho very fragrant and delicious

Delicious authentic beef pho exactly what we needed on a cold December afternoon. I love the raw bean sprouts and herb addition to the hot soup, giving out divine aromatics as you slurp your noodles. Not usually busy at lunchtime so you will get a table without issues.

When you dine out, it’s not just about the food but the experience as well. While we enjoyed the food (though perhaps a bit on the salty side) our experience at Mien Tay was quite poor. While the tables around us got their food within ten minutes, we were left waiting for more than 30 minutes for our meal to arrive. We ordered a couple of beers, a starter, and a main. However, from the moment the order was taken to its late arrival we were not once visited by our server – never to say that the food was going to take a bit of time nor that it was almost done. Just silence. The beers did arrive 10 minutes after we placed our order, but given they were just bottles even that seemed late. The water we asked for never arrived, which proved to be problematic given the over salty fish. We had specifically ordered a starter to allow the lengthier cooking time we assumed for the sea bream. This, apparently, was lost on the staff. We were actually just about to walk out in disgust when the food arrived. When I expressed our displeasure to our server, he simply said “I just work here, talk to the bar downstairs.” Hardly an acceptance of fault nor any attempt to make up for the extremely lengthy delay. We raised the point again at the till as we were leaving, but we were simply brushed aside: “the fish takes a long time to cook.” There are so many Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Think carefully about choosing this one if you care for a timely meal and for properly being waited on.

Best pho I’ve had so far in London. Comes with proper lime, mint and all the right sauces. Still yet to live up to the pho I had in Manchester but it’s decently authentic and worth it.

Arrived 30 mins before closing last night and welcomed to take a seat. Ornate glass and wood designed tables with picturesque inlay. Comfortable and soy, siracha and chilli oil/ sauces on the tables. Reasonable priced menu for a beautifully presented plate of great tasting and fresh food. My lady finished of hers with a smile while I had enough for lunch. Also met performers and staff from BAC who enjoyed as did we.

Best food in South London; authentic and exciting menu and excellent service. Deserving of all the awards they have won, and more.

Exceptionally quick service and delicious food. The free prawn crackers was a nice touch. My one disappointment was that I found the rice pancake a bit tough to eat, but all the rest of the food was great. Lots of vegan options. Highly recommend.

Used to be one of our favourite restaurant, but the taste of the food all changed ever since they changed the owner. The price gone up so much too…. Won’t come here anymore.

Mien Tay is a casual dining Vietnamese restaurant with a vast menu — and several veggie options (primarily consisting of tofu). A group of around 6 pax, we ordered a salad, 3 appetisers, and 3 mains with some noodle/rice dishes to share. The hot dishes were served piping hot, and most of them were quite flavourful. The papaya salad, in particular, was quite refreshing. On the other hand, I would strongly suggest skipping the veggie summer rolls — they were bland, and could not be saved by the dipping sauce either. Service was friendly and quick, and we particularly appreciated the complimentary fruit towards the end of the meal. While it was not a memorable dinner per se, Mien Tay is worth a try if you're in the area and in the mood for a melange of mixtures as well as textures.

Not cheap but very good quality food and service

My husband, I & our children enjoyed our wedding anniversary celebration dinner here. We thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we ordered and the staff were friendly, courteous and very attentive to all our needs.

Went there to have pho. It was decent. Huge menu and the restaurant was cute. There's a sign for cash only in the restaurant so be prepared to pay in cash.

Most authentic Vietnamese restaurant in South London, producing the tastiest and freshest dishes to savour and enjoy. Be warned they are usually very busy during dinner service, so I would advise to call in advance to avoid disappointment.

Had a delicious lunch here today. Fantastic food, friendly service. The papaya salad and the goat with galangal were especially good, but we also loved the spare ribs and rice paper rolls. Will be back very soon.

I visited Mein Tay with my friends and witnessed the most appalling behaviour I have ever experienced in a restaurant. A gentlemen came in and sat at a table, there were only eight of us in the whole restaurant. The waiter Mac, was in the kitchen when the gentleman came in, he marched over to the gentleman and berated him for sitting at the table. I have never witnessed such disgusting behaviour. I advised the gentleman to leave as Mac was continuing to be incredibly rude to him when he bought over the menu. Mac was also abusive to a delivery chap at the same visit, what appalling behaviour in front of customers.

The food was delicious but the service bas ok. Would I go back there again? Definitely!

Very good quality Vietnamese food. I liked their fried squid and spring roll, it is crispy but not greasy. The seasoning is just right. The service staff are very customer oriented. I would love to come back to try more of their food.

Its Vietnamise places, and it looks just like that - asian restaurants, and you could swear it's family-run: small, cosy, and nit pretentious, and the waiter speaks English enough to communicate. What they lack spoken English, they compensate in their friendly, helpfull approach. I went there for a quick dinner before going further for the night. The food is delicious, felt freshly prepared, came super-quick (note that the place was not too full as we went there very early evening) good portions, and if you don't want to - no need to but a starter. No dessert option, though. Great menu with plenty to choose from. Also: CASH ONLY, and if you forget to bring it, there are cash machines nearby.

Very good beef noodles, authentic and worth trying

The clay pot chicken curry and papaya salad are both delicious! I’ve eaten a lot of dishes from here and never disappointed. Not a huge drinks offering and the staff isn’t super friendly, but the food makes it worth it.

Always a good place to go, for lunch or dinner. Never disappointed, years after years!

I want to say thanks very much indeed for the dishes prepared delivery as it was refused by several deliver persons which is understandable under such freezing cold weather. It took almost one hour and half to arrive, so I thought it all must be arrived cold under such weather. But it’s all still very warm! It obviously shows that they had to prepare all the dishes again when there was a deliver person eventually agreed to deliver. All delicious!! Thanks very much again!!

Good atmosphere and authentic food at a good price

Food is good but raised their prices by 30% in one go while also reducing portion size. Understandably everyone is struggling but at least don’t do it all in one go… will be ordering less now. 🥲

Disappointing. Food came out quickly but it was quite bland and some of it badly cooked. Salad rolls were nice, spicy ribs were awful - very tough and no meat, soft shell crab good. Beef curry was bland with gristly meat, the meat in the stir fry noodles had been boiled, not fried. Prices have gone up significantly too which is understandable at the moment but food has gone downhill. Can only pay with cash or bank transfer.

Found this little gem, a replica of the one in Hoxton which is one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in London and this one doesn't disappoint. We got the Pho Dat Biet (beef special thick rice noodles in broth) Pho Ga (chicken thick rice noodles in broth) and they were lovely, fragrant and plentiful. The service was perfect, very pleasant and friendly and we waited no time for our food. Only down point are the herbs - they don't give you Thai basil which is a shame but otherwise a great place.

This restaurant has a good reputation I been to there other branch in Kingsland High road and the food is consistently excellent. I visit this restaurant on 4/06/22. Food we ordered was beef&brisket pho,chargrilled chicken with honey and spices, pork spare ribs,special fried rice I will recommend Mien tay definitely will revisit this branch also there offer bring your own bottle. With a small corkage fee only beers or wines allowed.
