Holiday Inn Washington, an IHG Hotel in Sunderland

Very enjoyable visit at holiday inn Washington. Staff are welcoming and friendly, kitchen staff do a really good job catering for the late evening orders especially on a bank holiday with no drop in presentation or taste. The host at the breakfast bar was very friendly and helpful. Would stay again only downside is rooms could do with a revamp but for the price i can't really complain. The hotel is situated next to a main road which is a bonus when travelling and you can't really hear the cars so didn't disturb my sleep.

It is very large, the room we had is spacious, comfortable beds, it has coffee, iron, a donkey for ironing, the only thing we had to do is that bathing was very uncomfortable because changing the shower was not useful

Attended a course. Room pleasant and well set out. Reception gloomy and a bit dated. Price of coffee extortionate.

An overnight stay with friends on a coach trip. Lovely food and staff. Unfortunately, the bar was very cold to sit and enjoy a second drink. A very enjoyable stay though.

We use this facility for fellowship and the staff are quite nice and polite. The environment is fantastic if you are looking to have a break to rest.

Friendly staff, very helpful. Our room was fairly clean, the bathroom was ok, could have been cleaner. The breakfast was great, lots of choice, very tasty. Overall a good stay

Great environment, we loved it. The staff were friendly and very helpful - thanks to the maintenance staff and Amanda from the front desk. Amanda was very supportive, she helped us with early check in and late check out as IHG member. Liked the hydration station at the front desk. The environment is cool and quite inside, unfortunately on the first day of our stay there were some maintenance works which we were not notified about - painting and what sounded like drilling next to our room which made it difficult for me to work as I was working remotely during the day. The heating was not working but when we reported the fault, it was treated as emergency and resolved in no time - thanks for that. For Uber lovers like me, Ubers are always readily available and quick to respond.

I was shocked I didn't see Alan Partridge. But looked clean and functional.

We booked last minute as we’re on the road looking for a place to sleep, nothing more - very clean hotel, smooth booking. Highly recommend if you’re looking for good value hotel. That was perfect for us.

Premises have seen better times.

I have stayed at this Hotel numerous times, in the past (for work). The Hotel is tired, dated and pretty depressing. It needs a total renovation.

Reception and staff are pleasant. The rooms are disappointing though - lots of marks and a general feeling of needing a renovation. The bathroom was particularly poor - felt dated (poor water pressure from shower, wobbly loo seat etc).

Nice well kept hotel, the rooms are tidy and spacious, and the location is excellent too. I was a bit worried that traffic noise could be an issue, but that's not the case at all. I'll be staying again there soon and would recommend it to anyone.

Have to say all about the staff , all were friendly, attentive and polite . Want to single out Lauren at reception I arrived very early but she did every thing possible to get my room ready ASAP which they did very quickly and I asked for a bath last minute which she was able to accommodate ( and I was returning next week to which she added a note to say to get me a bath if possible for that visit) I'm an IHG platinum member and always use HI as staff are 100% focused on looking after customers and taking a real interest. Always a great experience. Food good value and Guinness on draft was the cherry on top . Thx IHG

Looked well after my family coming from abroad. Friendly and helpful team. Food was also lovely.

The most disgusting experience for a venue pretending to be dog friendly. I can pay a premium to take my dog and walk it through the hotel but cannot sit with it, in a virtually empty lounge area! No food being served but not acceptable. Others complained too but to no avail. What a joke! I am not prepared to consider using them again and could have saved the cost of a round of drinks!!! If you have a dog AVOID!!

Nice hotel, clean and modern rooms. Only downfall is on my previous stay the manager opened the bar for us nightworkers that finished at 3am which was great and is one of the reasons why we booked again, on this occasion a different manager refused to do so. Other than that the staff are friendly and welcoming.

I've been working in this location for the past 6 weeks and staying in the Holiday Inn. The staff are friendly and always there to help. I love staying here and it makes being away from 🏡 me bareable. Thank you to all the staff at HI Washington you are amazing!!!

Always know what your getting at holiday inn and the breakfasts are great

Room needs TLC. Wet room pump doesn't drain water out. Put towels down to stop water going into room. Pillows really hard. Bedding was cheap. Mattress was just OK. Stayed at Premier night before. Same price. Much better. Superior to Holiday Inn. Reception lady was lovely. Positive note, only yards from Toby for breakfast.

I have just left after spending a couple of days there due to work. It’s the first time I have ever been to a budget hotel but it’s the first time I’ve ever been to a hotel that is so lovely and friendly. Every staff member just goes out of their way to help you and are so attentive. I really enjoyed it! There is no soundproofing so you do get some noise of banging doors etc! The bed I was in unfortunate the bed base in room 421 creaked a lot and really needs replacing but the service there is great…. it bypasses any faults. .. thank you guys I can’t wait to come back next time I’m there for work

Good, steady Holiday Inn experience. The booking app is still a bit flaky at times.
