Hokus Pokus in Camden

My partner & I are staying at The Megaro this weekend and I booked pre-dinner cocktails in their basement cocktail bar last night. It’s a hidden gem. Service was superb and the drinks were delicious. A must visit in London.

I was staying in the Megaro so obviously had to visit this bar.. absolutely stunning décor and lighting, but most importantly I had legitimately the best Negroni I have ever had (and I’ve had quite a few).

Tolles ambiente und spekulär eingerichtet. Treu nach dem Motto Hokus Pokus. Die Bedienung war hilfsbereit und hatte grosse Fachkenntnisse. Die Drinks waren gut aber etwas teuer für die Grösse.

A great evening find, quirky interior, luxury cocktails and a great knowledgeable team. Worth popping in for something a bit different.

This place is an absolute hidden gem. Was here yesterday for pre-dinner cocktails with friends and everything was simply perfection. This is an exceptional alchemy cocktail bar that brings fresh and experimental flavours to life, such that you wont find these cocktails anywhere else. The cocktails were delicious, we were even shown how they were made, such a wonderful touch. We were with here friends but an absolute winner to bring a date or a place to celebrate something special. Would highly recommend.

We went there after a wonderful meal at Spagnoletti next door. You have to see this place to believe it! We were not sure about going to a basement bar but that would have been a big mistake. Not only the entire space looks like some crazy Dr Who film set but it is actually very cleverly designed. The more you look , the more details you notice. The music is good, the service fun and knowledgable. Some witty cocktails with smoke and infusions. Really top. Not cheap but worth it.

This must be the template for the ultimate bar experience. Its location is hard to find: you must go to a deserted way across Euston road. Then through a hotel lobby (actually, more like a stunning steampunk library) then down a weird staircase straight out of Narnia, finally stumble through a copper door into a ‘neverwhere’ universe. Blue lights, seeping fog, apothecary bar, bizarre creatures everywhere: it’s like a Tim Burton movie: simply fantastic. The drinks are equally outrageously good, provided with simple grace and skilled service. This bar definitely beats them all.

I’m lost for words to describe this underground bar hidden under the Megaro Hotel. It’s like a mix of science-fiction and real Victorian engineering. The interior design is total magic! We loved the whole show from the moody lighting, seeping fog, amazing decor and the theatrics at the table. These guys know how to mix a drink! The menu offers a lot of choice with flat pricing and a simplified ordering system. Book early because they seem to have limited capacity.

We were told about this place during the summer but it took us a while to get there from West London. Well! I wished we had made the trip sooner. This has to be the most incredible bar in London. It’s a complete experience from arriving through the steampunk lobby, going down the crazy steps, and arriving in the middle of what looks like a film set. The decor is so full of details, it must have come from the mind of a mad design scientist. The crazy thing is that it all works so well together: the copper pipes, the lighting, the alchemy lab, the furnishing….everything has been thought through. The cocktails are mostly around £16. It’s expensive but good value for London when you compare with some other bars far less interesting. The service was really friendly and knowledgeable.

Eine wirklich schöne Bar. Der Service ist excellent. Wir hatten Steward und er wahr sehr kundenorientiert. Wollte wirklich dass wir zufrieden sind. Die Cocktails schmecken super. Wir kommen wieder.

Wir haben die Bar während unserer London Reise besucht und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Die Bar war etwas versteckt in einem Hotel im Keller. Der Sicherheitsmann hat einem am Eingang freundlich den Weg gezeigt. Die Bar war definitiv ein Highlight gewesen und sehr atmosphärisch. Das Design war komplett im Steampunk Stil gehalten und durch viele Details, Nebel- und Lichteffekte sehr eindrucksvoll! Das Personal war sehr freundlich gewesen. Die drinks bewegten sich zwischen 16-20 Pfund und man bekam ohne Aufforderung immer Wasser nachgeschenkt. Wenn man Abends noch nichts vor hat sollte man hier definitiv vorbei schauen.

I saw clips of this bar on social media and thought the theatrics of their smoky cocktails and decor looked really cool. The reality was that the cocktails were very pricey and didn't taste that nice in my opinion. In fairness, my friends and I love sweet cockails, and these we strong and not sweet. So, we just wasted our money on cool looking cocktails that we didn't like or drink. Even the non-alcoholic cocktail didn't taste nice. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Love the place from the interior to the very friendly staff and the atmosphere is chilled , cool and fabulous and most importantly the cocktails are freaken fantastic

We stayed at this hotel, wine was £13.50 for a 125ml of Riesling which wasn’t nice, cocktails £15! Nice bar though. We Waited ages for our drinks and then when we left we got chased out by the staff asking if we had paid! We left the money on the table. Very over priced and won’t be going back. We went across the road to GNH bar instead which was really nice

We have had an amazing evening. They have a loot of Delicious cocktails on the menu... We will be definitely back. Thank you for Tomas and Meggie for the great experience
